L crouched on the bench and bit his thumb while staring at the peaceful streets of the Town known as Derry.
It has been ten years since he was reincarnated in this world. At first, he felt it was a bit weird for him to be born again before the woman who gave birth to him dumped him in an orphanage which is what his previous parents did.
L didn't actually care about it. After all, he found out about his current mother that she was just a whore fishing for money. L didn't even bat an eye when he saw her again nor even introduced himself.
Of course, he didn't made a lot of friends in this world either because the workers at the orphanage wouldn't let any other children go out unless you're ten years old and L is not really the best friend maker.
This is just the first time he got out and finally got the chance to explore the whole town.
"You're very boring, L. Why won't you just use the Death Note I gave you?!" A deep demonic voice complain from behind.
"Why would I even use it? That dangerous weapon has no purpose to me yet." L replied without facing the source of the demonic voice since he already knew who it belongs to. He met him five years ago and it didn't surprise him when he gave him the Death Note, "And just so you know, you can always leave and find others to annoy so you can satisfy your boredom."
"And miss all the fun when you finally get back in the game. No, thanks."
The raven haired boy lazily turned his head around and saw a towering figure standing with an apple on his hand, "Now, that you mentioned it, Ryuk. I haven't solved a case for a very long time now."
The figure known as Ryuk stepped out of the shadow, revealing his grey skin and devilish smile on his face. His glowing red eyes were looking into L's dark emotionless eyes before his long slender arm leaned on a nearby lamp post, "What about the series of missing children you have just heard about? You know, you can always do something about that."
L smirked wickedly at the suggestion before he put on his worn-out shoes and placed his pale hands on his waists, "I wanted to but I don't want to risk my life right now and I have very little resources as of now. Although, I'll think I'll go to the library for now. I believe I will find some usable info there."
"Hey, freak show! What the fuck you doing in my turf?!" An angry prideful voice shouted nearby.
L quickly looked at the source and it was a messy orange haired boy no older than 16 with three other boys behind him.
Instead of saying anything, L only stared blankly at him and rubbed his neck.
"Hey! Are you fucking deaf?! I'm talking to you, freak show!" The boy shouted and advanced towards the raven haired boy.
"Yes. I hear you. But please don't call me that. I don't like it." L casually replied with his monotonous voice. He didn't like any of this but he already knew what will about to happen. He even already deduced that they must be the notorious gang in Derry known as The Bowers Gang. But there are still questions lingering in L's mind. Just what the heck is this guy's problem? What is his right to call him a 'freak'?! And most importantly, how did they get away of their atrocious acts for a very long time?
"I'm sorry. Did you just talked back to me?" The orange haired boy questioned in anger before he stared at L like a hungry hawk stalking it's prey and gave him a wicked smile, "Looks like you're new here, freak show, so let me show you who's boss here."
L prepared himself for the inevitable and formed his hands into fists, "I advise you not to do that, please."
The orange haired boy only laughed at L's warning before he suddenly punched L in the face but what he got in return was a strong painful kick to the chin which sends him off balance, leading him to the hard ground.
The other boys who witnessed the whole thing suddenly widened their eyes in shock when their supposed leader was knocked out by a twelve years old boy.
After seeing an opportunity, L quickly ran off to escape. He knew he couldn't take out all of them but taking out their leader would give the gang a lesson that they shouldn't mess with the greatest detective who doesn't like to lose.
He made sure he knew where he was going when he escaped. After L was sure he was finally far away, he then began walking to his next destination which seems to be nearby.
"Let's see what they got there." L commented when his eyes finally caught the Library after taking a very large step.
