L had just finished what he was doing and he knew he was getting close to solve Derry's missing children case. He had sucked any information he needed like a sponge in a water. He read everything in this place that could provide him an answer or even a clue.

It seems that every 27 years, a terrible thing will happen to the citizens of Derry. Especially children.

L first expected that the culprit must be a sick child molester but when he learned of the date where this series of msyterious event began, L knew that this culprit must not be human and must be something else entirely.

He already believed that it could not be a Shinigami considering that there's only one Shinigami in this world and that's Ryuk himself who would be too lazy to do such a thing.

As he was about to close the book he had just finished reading, L suddenly heard a devilish chuckle from behind and he swiftly turned his head around to see the black Shinigami in front of him.

"This is suddenly becoming interesting, L." Ryuk commented before he cracked his neck, "You know, this world wasn't always visited by our kind and I believe you already know that the culprit is anything but a Shinigami."

"Yes. I believe this entity is something else entirely." L nodded at his words. But he has a suspicion that Ryuk probably knows this entity for a long time and has been keeping his mouth shut. He already knew he couldn't ask Ryuk about It because L always knew that Shinigamis are not to be trusted and aren't very determined to risk their lives for mere mortals, especially Ryuk.

Seeing the time on the Library clock, L stood up from his crouching position and set both of his feet on the cold floor.

It was time for him to go back at the orphanage or else he'll suffer the wrath of the strict and harsh Mrs. Perkins; a nun and the headmistress of the Orphanage he's in.

Just as he was about to take a step, a meek voice called him out from behind.

Turning his head around to look at the source, L saw a very chubby boy who seems to be on the same age as him.

"Hi! I'm Ben Hanscom." The boy introduced himself in a very meek way before continuing, "What's your name?"

As L was about to reply, his intimidating gaze made the chubby boy flinch before straightening himself in a very quick manner, "It's Blake, why?"

"Um, nothing. It's just that I don't have a lot of friends or any companions here in the library." The chubby boy replied in a very nervous and panicked manner, "And then I saw you reading a lot of books and finishing it very quickly. Um, look! Can we be friends?"

It took an awfully awkward seconds to take it all in for L before finally answering, "Sure, Ben. But don't expect me to be a very warm friend since many people always find me disagreeable and very rude."

"Sure. Anyway, it's better than being alone or being with Bowers and his goons." After he finished his statement, the chubby boy now known as Ben looked down in sadness, remembering all the horrible things the Bowers gang did to him.

Looking into Ben's eyes, L could only imagine a lot of ways the Bowers gang would do to torment him.

Remembering the time, L quickly bid him farewell even though Ben complained at the fact that they only just met and now he has to leave.

Although, L assured him that they'll meet again here before finally leaving the premises.

It was raining very hard and a six years old boy in a yellow raincoat was following a grey paperboat made by his older brother; Billy.

The boy kept following the paperboat on the side of the road which is filled with water.

Even though the storm was getting worse every second, he still kept following it with all his energy until the paperboat went down to a gutter that leads to the sewer.

Not giving up, the boy ran to the gutter before crouching down to get a better look where the paperboat fell.

"Bill's gonna kill me." The boy said in worry as he began crawling towards the gutter, looking for the paperboat.

Not until a moment later, he suddenly saw a pair of oddly bright blue eyes looking back at him.

It made the boy back away a bit in fear until he got a clear look of what It is; it was a man in a clown make-up with bright spiky red hair.

"Hiya! Georgie! What a nice boat!" The clown commented as he showed the same paperboat made by the boy's older brother on his hand, "Do you want it back?"

Not even suspicious at the fact that the clown knows his name, the boy now known as Georgie just simply stared at the clown before him until he finally had the courage to reply, "Yes, please."

"You look like a nice boy. I bet you have a lot of friends." The clown said with a smile.

"Three. But my brother is the bestest." Georgie corrected the clown and the clown noticed that he seems proud at declaring his older brother as his bestest.

"Where is he?" The clown asked with curiosity written on his face.

"In bed.", Georgie answered truthfully as he continued, "Sick."

"I bet I could cheer him up! I'll give him a balloon." The clown replied with great confidence, "Do you want a balloon too, Georgie?"

"I'm not supposed to take stuff from strangers."

"Oh! Well, I'm Pennywise The Dancing Clown!" The clown introduced himself before gesturing himself to Georgie, "Pennywise, yes, meet Georgie. Georgie meet Pennywise. Now we are not strangers, are we?"

Georgie chuckled like a little boy he is before asking Pennywise a question, "What are you doing in the sewer?"

"A storm blew me away. Blew the whole circus away." Pennywise feigned sadness in his words but nevertheless Georgie still believed him, "Can you smell the Circus too, Georgie? There's peanuts, cotton candy, hotdogs, and..."

"Popcorn?" Georgie continued with uncertainty in his word.

"Popcorn!" Pennywise exclaimed in a happy child-like manner, "Is that your favorite?"

Georgie nodded yes at that and the clown went giddy and ecstatic, "Mine too! Because they pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop!"

"Pop!" Georgie mimicked with a smile before they started laughing at each other.

That is until Pennywise's giddy and ecstatic expression disappeared in an instant. His current expression is now more of a predator readying to eat his prey.

"I should get going now."

"Without your boat?" The clown put empahsis on his words when he held the paperboat higher to have Georgie get a clearer look on it, "You don't want to lose it, Georgie. Billy's gonna kill you."

Pennywise then began to held it higher than before which made Georgie pursed his lips in uncertainty and suspicion, "Here. Take it. Take it, Georgie."

Wanting the paperboat so he wouldn't suffer Billy's wrath, Georgie began to crawl closer and tried to reach the paperboat with his hand.

But it was still too far for his hand to reach, so he decided to crawl even closer than before and tried to reach the paperboat again.

As the boy was about to finally reach it, Pennywise's teeth suddenly turned very large and sharp before he bit Georgie's arm and tore it off.

The boy tried to crawl away as he cries for help but Pennywise suddenly grabbed his leg before pulling him down into the gutter, leaving only a trail of blood on the side of the road.

"Billy!"

As L arrived at the orphanage, he was bombarded by questions of concern from the other nuns who worked in the orphanage.

That is until the headmistress stepped out from her office and out came the ugly and old nun; Mrs. Perkins.

She saw the commotion before her and walked towards it.

And she wasn't surprised to see the certain number one troublemaker; Blake.

The boy who is the son of a whore and a pervert. The only boy in the orphanage who spats back at her and even caused an uproar among the children.

"You little brat! You were supposed to be back here at exactly four o' clock! Why are you late?!"

"I was sightseeing the whole town before going to the library to read there. I then lost track. I'm very sorry, Mrs. Perkins. It won't happen again. I promise." L bowed his head to make himself look more pitiful so the other nuns would protect him or make his punishment less severe.

"A weak excuse. That's it! No dinner for you! And you're cleaning the basement tonight."

"Oh, come on, give the kid a chance, Moira. He never got the chance to explore the town before until now and considering Blake was always the curious one so it's likely that he will lost track of time." One of the nuns defended him before the other nuns began to follow.

"He's just a kid!"

"You're always so strict!"

"Yeah! I have also seen you being very harsh to him."

Having enough of this farce, Mrs. Perkins gritted her teeth in annoyance before finally relenting, "Hmph! Okay! Fine! I'll let him off the hook for now but if he ever done something like this again. There will be no second chances."

All the nuns sighed in relief at that and L grew a smirk that he got away scot-free again.
