I was pulling up the driveway to the Boarding House. I've been back here for two years now.

Damon and I haven't been on good terms for over a century. He blames me for Katherine's death. I had made the mistake in trusting my father with the secret of vampires.

Next thing I knew, my father and the rest of the council, were gathering all the ones residing in Mystic Falls.

They had taken them inside a church and set it on fire. Katherine was with them. We tried to help her escape, but our own father shot and killed us.

We hadn't known we had vampire blood in our systems. We woke up hours later on the ground. Emily Bennett, Katherine's old handmaiden and a witch, had waited for us and gave us daylight rings.

My brother wanted to die. I wouldn't let him. I had already fed and couldn't get enough of blood. It was like I was on a constant high.

I had found a blonde girl, around 18 years old, brought her to him and practically threw her at him. He fed from her, completing his transition.

We went out separate was after that. At least for a while. About 50 years later, I ran into him at New Orleans. He was hanging around a bunch of other vampires. The Originals. Klaus, Elijah and Rebekah.

They are the first and oldest vampires ever. Klaus being a vampire/werewolf hybrid. They all hated me at first.

I had my humanity off and was known as The Ripper of Monterey. Meaning, once I tasted human blood, I couldn't stop. I fed so much and so hard, I always ended up tearing heads and other body parts off.

We all got to know each other. Elijah was still wary of me. Klaus admired the things I'd done and we became good friends. Rebekah and I had a friends with benefits type relationship.

She's a beautiful, blonde goddess, but she was just too spoiled and selfish. I couldn't deal with that in a romantic relationship. Not that I had been looking for one at the time.

Not long after that, I left New Orleans and travelled to Chicago. There was a witch there that owned a bar called Gloria's. It was a small place, but it had great music and people.

I stayed in an apartment not far from it for about a year. During my stay, I ran into Klaus and Rebekah again.

We would go to the bar together and listen to the music, have drinks and catch up with each other. A few months later, their father, Mikael, came and sought to kill them.

Klaus had compelled me to forget them. I hadn't known that until he showed up here in Mystic Falls a few months after we did.

I had gotten here first, moved in with my nephew, Zach. I'd found a girl that looked a lot like Katherine, but not identical. She's more beautiful. The most beautiful woman I'd ever laid eyes on.

I felt like I had to know her. I found out that her parents had died over the summer. She had a little brother named Jeremy. And lived with her Aunt Jenna.

She was a Junior in high school, had a couple best friends, Bonnie Bennett and Caroline Forbes. She loved to read and write. She was sweet, caring, loved unconditionally and was selfless.

Her eyes held no judgement. Her heart held love for even her enemies. As a matter of fact, when Damon got here, she was the first person he began to fully trust.

She would talk to him about anything. If he had a problem or issue, shed help him get through it. They had a connection I'd never witnessed before.

She had slowly brought his humanity back. Don't get me wrong. Damon is still a dick most of the time. But he rarely kills people. He doesn't use anybody. And he talks to me more.

That's something I never thought I would have back. My brother. The one I grew up with as a human. He had been my best friend then.

He had the biggest heart. Was there for me and stood up for me against our abusive father. Our mother had passed away when I was ten.

He blamed us, his own sons. Before she passed, Guiseppe was an admiring father. He loved our mother more than anything. She was his light.

When she passed, Guiseppe began drinking heavily and would beat us for anything he deemed necessary.

Years later, I was 17 and Damon was 25. Damon signed up for the Army and left.

That's when Katherine arrived. She had told my father that she needed a place to stay. That she had been orphaned. He offered her a room and the maids services.

Me and Katherine would spend time together everyday. I slowly began to fall for her. My brother returned home 6 months after joining the Confederacy.

After that, she spent time with both of us. I had seen her vampire face and became frightened of her. So she had compelled me to keep her secret and to love her. And did the same to Damon.

We were her entertainment, her puppets. Damon didn't think so. He thought he was really in love with her all this time.

Now that we've come home, and been here for two years, I believe that's changed. Because the changes I've seen in him. The bits of the brother I use to have are coming back.

He's a little nicer, more thoughtful, solves problems instead of creating them. We work together to help all of our friends.

We don't fight as much. We certainly don't try to kill each other anymore. We go to the bar for drinks with Ric. We go hang out with Klaus and the others, together.

I'm just at awe in how much my brother is getting back to the way he was. I had almost given up hope.

To the point where I was about to kill him once and for all, when everything changed. Not for worse, but for the better.

And it's all thanks to the woman we are both in love with.

Violet Gilbert.

_

Hello, ladies and gentlemen.

Sorry this chapter is so short. A bit of change from the show. Just to be clear, neither of the brothers are or were with Violet.

She's been like a best friend and confidant to them and the Originals. Yes, Klaus has already sacrificed her. And, yes, he used her blood for hybrids.

Mikael is already dead. Katherine really did die a long time ago. And the Salvatore's and Mikaelson's have been friends for almost a century.

That's all I'll say about that.

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed the first chapter.

I DO NOT OWN TVD. VIOLET IS MINE.

Until Next Time,

Jess
