Note: After what feels like forever, we are at the FINAL chapter of Crisis. This will tie off one final loose end of our Crisis.

An Unexpected Origin

-Year 2036-

On New Justice, Leona Garrick-Lane paused as she stopped in front of her house in the Sanctuary, taking a moment to take in the red lights above. She wasn't powerless under the lights, since it didn't affect her speedster powers, but it did take away her Kryptonian powers.

"Nice shirt," she heard a voice and turned to see her mother, Rachel Garrick, better known as Rae, standing there, smirking at her daughter. "Vintage Sanctuary. We haven't used that design for our employees since 2022-ish. I'd say that comes from 2019. Did you tell someone not to forget to say, 'I do'?"

"You knew…?" Leona frowned, figuring that her mother had realized what she had done, having travelled back to her parent's wedding. Rae had been waiting 17 years to have this conversation.

"Of course, I knew. Especially with that gift you gave us," Rae chuckled to her daughter.

"The Time Masters asked me to watch, to see what your decisions on Aunt Nora would be," Leona said and then paused as she realized what she'd said. "Aunt Nora?"

"I assume Rip Hunter gave you something so your mind would adjust to the new timeline," Rae said, and Leona blinked as she remembered a new childhood with Nora Cray, formerly Darkh, in her life as a magical aunt. So, things had worked out. "Now, what is with this not forgetting to say…?" Rae didn't finish her sentence as a portal opened next to them.

"Saved by the bell – well, portal," Leona chuckled, "the Speed Force wants you," she added, knowingly, giving a smile.

"No, she doesn't," Rae frowned, shaking her head, looking at the portal, then back to her daughter. "She wants you."

-Crisis on Infinite Millma Earths-

Skye Allen of Prime was sitting at her desk in her room at home, pouting as she looked through the tablet for her emails. She was frustrated, and hungry, but that was more due to her speedster digestive system. She ignored it for now.

"Any news?" Her dad, Barry Allen appeared at her doorway, trying to hide his own frustration he was sharing with his daughter.

"Nothing," Skye stated. "You know, I thought this scholarship was in the bag," she sighed now.

"I know sweetie, but sometimes you've got to fall on your backup plans," Barry mused. "Besides, it's still early – there's time."

"But you're rich, dad," Skye pointed out, to a frown from Barry. "I mean you run Palmer Tech here, you and mom have the Meta Animal Sanctuary, not to mention a fair profit from the colony worlds…"

"Skye," Barry snapped, "what we do with our money isn't important here, besides we're not rich, we're just well off - unlike Karry Universe. Besides, college is for you. Your mother and I made a choice not to impact your childhood with what financial gain we may have. We wanted you to have a normal childhood – or as normal as a speedster/Kryptonian child could. Besides, this scholarship was perfect for you."

"Hm, well the fact that you're 'well off' works against me getting this scholarship. They look at your finances too you know," Skye pointed out.

"This is a highly prestigious college, Skye," Barry sighed, "not even our money could get you in, that's why we went for the scholarship."

"Oh pur-lease!" Skye groaned. "Surely you can just flash your 'well off' money at the Dean and get me in," Skye mused, smirking now.

"No," Barry stated sternly, "that's not how it works."

"Actually, it is how the world works. You throw money at a problem, and it goes away. That's what your Karry alternates do," Skye pointed out, "isn't that right, Edie?" she added, her younger sister having passed the door at this point. The girl paused at this.

"Skye, you're a spoiled brat," Edie sighed. "Rue and I can at least agree on that," she snapped, continuing on her journey downstairs.

"Hey, language, Eden!" Barry shouted after his youngest, shaking his head before turning back to address Skye. "I'll have a word with her and Ruben later, but look, Skye, if worse comes to worse…" but he didn't finish his sentence as a portal opened in the middle of Skye's room. "Oh."

"Impeccable timing, the Speed Force," Skye chuckled. "Go dad, we can debate this more when you get back."

"Actually…" Barry mused, "I think it's for you."

"What?!" Skye actually stood at this, shocked. "The Speed Force wants me? Why?"

"How am I supposed to know?" Barry chuckled. "Go. I'll be here to discuss colleges when you get back."

"Urm," Skye paused at this, her false bravado gone now.

"You'll be fine, Skye," Barry sighed. "Go on."

-Crisis on Infinite Millma Earths-

Back on New Justice, Rae was feeling rather bemused as her own daughter, Leona, seemed frozen on the spot in the face of her own Speed Force portal. "Come on, Leona, the Speed Force wants you," Rae reiterated to her daughter.

"What?" Leona asked, paling. Was the Speed Force angry at her time traveling to her parents' wedding? "Can… can you come with me? I have never been in there."

"Sorry sweetie, no," Rae said, knowing the Speed Force didn't want her to go this time. "Hey, it's okay. She's not going to hurt you. I promise you'll be safe. Just go right in."

Leona gave her mother a nod as she walked through the portal, finding herself in a park that felt familiar, but was very relieved when she saw three other familiar speedsters there as well: the twins, Nora and Alura from Karry Universe were standing next to each other – being identical twins, it was hard to tell them apart, except from their fashion sense, as Alura was more girly than Nora; and Skye from Prime was also sitting on a bench in the park area they were in, casually checking her nails like this was an everyday occurrence.

"Did you three time travel too?" Leona asked, wondering if all four of them were getting a telling off.

"No," all three said at the same time.

"I leave time travelling to dad," Skye chuckled as she looked up to Leona. "Besides, the Speed Force saved me from a debate with dad anyway…"

"Hey, you time traveled?" Nora interrupted Skye, frowning.

"It was…" Leona started.

"Official Time Masters' business," a voice completed, and the Speed Force appeared, looking like Nora Allen, Barry's mother. "You are not in trouble Leona. The Time Masters are responsible on your Earth and if they should want to use my children's responsibility in time traveling, I have no objections. And just because I saved you from a college debate, doesn't mean your father won't continue it when you get back, Skye." The Speed Force stated, but smiled at Alura and Nora; it seemed the twins had not been taken from anything important that she needed to comment on.

"Oh. So why are we here?" Skye asked as she looked at the Speed Force.

"Crisis," the Speed Force stated – that got all four of their attention. They had heard the stories of Crisis before, of their parents, the Paragons, bringing back the multiverse.

"That's been over with for a long time," Alura pointed out, knowing that as fact.

"It has been, but also has not been. There's one loose end that needs filling. You four have a part you need to complete," the Speed Force explained, looking at the four of them. "Do you remember the book that the Paragons used? The one that said which Paragon was which and gave them clues on what they needed to do? Well, you four write it."

"We write it?" Skye blinked at this.

"Yes," the Speed Force explained, and the park around them turned into a cozy little sitting room, comfy chairs scattered about and a desk in the middle. "Everything you need is here: the blank book, pens, and the box to put it in," she added, indicating the desk with the items on.

"Wait, shouldn't Avery and Aiden be here? Their mom was – is – a Paragon, after all?" Nora asked, knowing of SuperEarth's Kara's own kids.

"And what about someone from Beautiful or Hero, or Kingdom Come?" Alura added

"It's not because your Paragon children or from Paragon worlds that you are here. It's your destiny to write the book - not theirs," the Speed Force said. "Besides, Aiden and Avery are too young."

"Well, I did not see this coming today," Skye sighed, raising an eyebrow.

"Okay then, if we're writing it, let's just write down who is what Paragon," Alura spoke up now.

"You can't do that," the Speed Force snapped.

"Why not?" Alura asked.

"Because you didn't," the Speed Force stated, confusing them. "During Crisis, when they read over the Paragons, it explained who what was, but did not exactly say, 'SuperEarth Kara is the Paragon of Courage', for example. Since it did not say that you cannot write it like that now. You can't change history."

"So, we can't write it how we want, because we've already written it as it's been read?" Skye stated, trying to wrap her head around this.

"I think dad would use a Doctor Who line to explain this. Wibbly-wobbly-timey-wimey, comes to mind," Nora remarked, her father having shown her enough Doctor Who for her to know the phrase. Skye chuckled at this.

"Exactly," the Speed Force smiled at Nora and Skye for this. "You'll figure out what you need to write from remembering the stories you have heard," and with that, the Speed Force left, leaving the four alone.

"Well, that explains nothing," Skye sighed. "Does anyone know how to write this Speed Force language?"

"According to our parents, we should all know," Nora pointed out. "We're born speedsters. We can read and write this language naturally."

"Okay, let me correct myself: has anyone ever written this language?" Skye changed tact, and Leona raised her hand.

"My mom became fluent in it. She taught me and my brothers it from a young age. It became our thing with her," Leona said. "Like Kryptonese was our thing with ma."

"If this was Kryptonese we could do it perfectly," Skye pointed out. "Grandma taught me," she added, smiling happily at the thought of lessons with Alura on Krypton itself.

"Wait, brothers? I thought you only had one brother," Alura pointed out to Leona.

"Um…" Leona said, pausing. "Nope, not anymore."

"Well then, you're our writer," Nora said, deciding to move the topic along and Leona nodded, sitting at the desk, and picking up the pen while the other three took the comfy chairs nearby.

"Do you two remember anything about Crisis?" Skye asked, curious as she crossed her legs causally; Nora and Alura were the eldest of the four after all, and Skye had only been about two when it had happened. "I don't remember much, just a play park with Mick Rory…"

"Hah, Mick…" Nora chuckled, remembering him too. "Well, I remember coming into here. The Speed Force."

"I remember feeling safe with Mick," Leona pointed out.

"You were barely a month old, how could you…?" Skye asked Leona at this.

"I don't know, I just remember feeling safe with him," Leona shrugged.

"Well, I remember mom and dad coming and hugging us," Alura spoke up. "Telling us to stay with Aunty Caity - it was actually Mutant Caitlin, but we didn't know better back then." The group was silent for a moment. They had been there throughout all of Crisis, but those was the only memories they had.

"Well then, we go from the stories we have been told," Skye decided. "Our parents have told us everything about what they did. Hell, we should know what this book said."

"How did the book start again?" Leona spoke up at this, waiting to write something, having the book open on the blank first page.

"Well, it explained about the Spectre," Skye mused.

"Uncle Olly," Leona smiled as she started to write about Spectre, what she knew about his existence in Purgatory.

"Then there was that thing about the Paragons," Alura voiced.

"There were many 'things' about the Paragons," Skye countered, a little sarcastically as Alura and Nora both rolled their eyes at this.

"She means the thing our dad thought said that there was a Paragon of bacon," Nora added, and the group had to laugh at that.

"That wouldn't be a bad thing for there to be a Paragon of bacon," Skye mused, thinking of her stomach now. She was still hungry.

"Your mom was first," Alura told Leona once the girl was done writing. "Cause she was sent to the Vanishing Point first and they had to get a different Rae to read the book."

"Splitsville Rae," Nora added, remembering this.

"The Paragon of Truth," Leona mumbled, remembering those clues to the Paragon of Truth; about her mom's suffering when young, the betrayal from her own Barry and the reference to her other mother, Kara; the relation to her mentor in Clark.

"It was the Paragon of Love next," Skye added when Leona had finished writing.

"Karry," Leona said as she started writing the Karry clues she remembered; connected lovers, who met when they were young and brought their world to near perfection. "Oh wait, they had song lyrics too. What song? Does anyone know the lyrics?"

"All I Ask of You from Phantom of the Opera," Nora said automatically.

"No more talk of darkness. Forget these wide eyes fears. I'm here, nothing can harm you. My words will warm and calm you," Alura said, and stopped when she noticed the looks Skye and Leona were giving her. "…they sing it a lot."

"Go on," Leona let the twins tell her all the words as she continued to write.

"My parents were next," Skye stated, having been musing over this, trying to remember what her parents had told her about being the Paragons of Destiny.

"Well, like Karry they are connected, two in one," Leona mused, writing this down.

"Mom was a clone of SuperEarth Kara, I believe that was part of it," Skye added seriously, as Leona wrote this information down as cryptically as she could.

"Wasn't there a song too?" Nora spoke up at this.

"Damn, you're right," Skye stated, frowning. "Mom loves that movie, too. Rewrite the Stars… wait, I don't have to sing it, do I?"

"You do have a beautiful singing voice," Alura mused now, having heard Skye sing before now.

"Just tell me the lyrics," Leona chuckled, as Skye nodded.

"You claim it's not in the cards, and fate is pulling you miles away, and out of reach from me…" Skye started, as Leona began to write all this down.

"Okay, who was next?" Leona asked once Skye had finished the first verse of her parent's song and she had written this down in Speed Force language.

"SuperEarth," Alura stated. "The Paragon of Courage."

"Which would be a lot easier if Avery or Aiden was here!" Skye pointed out, a little loudly, as if she was trying to get the Speed Force's attention.

"Well, they're not here," Nora pointed out to Skye.

"You said your mom is her clone," Leona stated, grabbing Skye's attention, "so that's a start."

"There was also the thing about her own Telepathic Bond with her Barry," Nora mused, thoughtfully.

"Ah, but don't forget that the bond didn't make her Barry a Paragon as well," Alura added.

"I got it," Leona mumbled. "Mom also mentioned that SuperEarth Kara put her teammates first," she wrote this down as the other three waited. "Okay, so who was after Courage? Humanity, Honor, or Hope?"

"All our parents were gone by this point," Nora pointed out.

"Not all. One of your moms was still there," Skye pointed out to Leona.

"Oh yeah. I think Humanity was first and it ended with Honor," Leona remembered.

"Beautiful Kayla," Skye stated. "Damn, that's still a good film."

"What film?" The twins asked as one, looking at Skye.

"Beautiful, the Carole King movie," Skye sighed, "Kayla starred in it, remember?"

"Oh yeah," Alura nodded.

"So, what are we writing for her?" Leona asked.

"Well, despite being the Paragon of Humanity, she isn't human," Nora pointed out, thoughtfully.

"Being Kryptonian," Alura added for her sister.

"Might be worth expanding on that," Skye mused, "you know, something like 'humanity is used to describe a shared trait between all species…"

"On it," Leona stated, scribbling this down too in the book.

"Might be worth throwing in her career as an actor," Alura now added.

"The world is more focused on entertainment," Skye agreed.

"Oh, add in about her singing voice – she can rival you, Skye," Alura stated, to receive a glare from her alternative sister. The twins chuckled anyway.

"The Paragon of Hope," Leona spoke, having finished writing about Kayla now.

"Oh, that one's easy," Nora stated. "He was Kingdom Come Uncle Clark. He lost his Lois, hid away, the government did that meta-army thing, and he started the Golden League."

"How do you remember all that?" Skye asked, taken aback now at Nora's memory of this world.

"It's a cool world. I like Aunt Zia," she shrugged back as Leona continued to write, getting the hang of this all by now.

"Paragon of Honor is Hero's Mon," Leona stated before any of her other alternative siblings could speak up. "I know all about this one," she smirked to herself as she wrote, her mom in Rae having told her about Mon-El's honor, humbleness, and respect before now.

"Alright," Leona dropped the pen to flex her fingers and stop onset cramp from writing. "What was next?"

"Karry Dark," Alura stated. "I remember mom and dad saying that annoyed them, as there wasn't much information in it."

"A world outside of the multiverse, pushed out due to Zoom," Skye mused as Leona picked up the pen and began to write again.

"Then there's the World Forge," Alura added after a moment.

"Where the original Monitor and Anti-Monitor still are, I believe," Nora mused.

"Okay, and at the World Forge there was the blood ritual," Leona stated, but paused as she reached this bit.

"We have to say what they need to do for the blood ritual?" Alura voiced what Leona was thinking.

"We don't," Skye stated. "The Book never told them what to do during the blood ritual. Just that they needed to do it."

"Well, that's just stupid," Alura mumbled.

"They figured it out regardless," Skye pointed out.

"And like the Speed Force said, we must preserve history. You know, I think the Book is done. I am out of pages," Leona said, closing the Book.

"For a guide to how to bring the multiverse back, it wasn't that long," Skye now mused, looking at the slim volume.

"Ah, but it was, is, enough," this was the Speed Force, coming back as she appeared as their Great Aunt Nora again. "Please, put it in the box," she indicated a box that had been on the desk, and Leona did as told, putting the Book in the box, and closing the lid.

"Now what?" Nora asked.

"Now, you four bring it to where it will be found," the Speed Force stated, and a portal opened. "To the world and tomb where Bounty Earth's Nash and Maya will find the book in a thousand years' time. Put the box in the center of the room. Be careful not to trigger the booby traps. Then, I will send you home."

"Okay," the four mumbled, Leona taking the lead as they moved through the portal and paused in the chamber.

"Weird place to put it," Skye mumbled, but Leona sped forward, putting the box on the plinth in the center of the room.

"That was–" Leona started, but an arrow suddenly shot from the wall, which she caught, holding her breath in shock.

"Booby traps," Nora stated, Leona nodding now as she tiptoed back to the portal, careful now.

"I guess we're done," Alura added as the four backed into the portal once more, now the box was safe in the cavern. The Speed Force would send them back to their respective homes and times now.

-Crisis on Infinite Millma Earths-

A thousand years later, in 2020, on Bounty Earth, Nash and Maya returned into their little store, carrying the old box.

"Did you get it?" Cara asked excitedly, her father and sister were dirty and dusty.

"Nearly died getting through those booby traps," Maya complained, but had a smile on her face as she said. "But it was at the center of the tomb!"

"We got it," Nash confirmed.

"Oh wow," Cara breathed as her father put the box down. "Not in bad condition, either..." Cara gently wiped the dirt off. Maya had already gone off to wash the dirt from her face and hands. "There's writing on this. Is this an ancient language?"

"Do you know what it says?" Nash asked. "Or do you need me to translate?"

"You know me better than that dad," Cara sighed. "When the end… comes… what lies within is the key to…" Cara paused as she gently took off more dirt, "the future."

"What's inside?" It was Maya returning to the two.

"Let's find out," Nash said as he gently opened the box and saw a book within. He was very careful as he took the book out, making sure he had protective gloves on too. "This book is solid… Not falling apart. Better condition than others I have seen of its age."

"Looks almost new," Cara mused as they opened the first page. "This is not the same writing as on the box."

"No, I have never seen anything like this before," Nash agreed, looking over the pages.

"Can you translate it?" Maya asked.

"We'll need to do some research," Nash nodded.

"I'll get on it," Cara said.

But the three never were able to figure out the language of the book, as soon a Rachel Garrick working for the Speed Force came asking them for help in turning someone into a speedster. She traded them the right location of another artifact they were looking for in exchange for the book.

That Rae gave the book to her Kingdom Come counterpart before her death on Karry Universe. Her own journal, which she kept, gave Karry Barry and Kara the clues to hunt down and finally find the book – and it ended up in the Paragon of Love's hands in time for it to be used in Crisis…

Post Chapter Note: And there is the tale of the Speed Force Book. Nora, Alura, Leona, and Skye played a bigger part in Crisis than they will ever be given credit for.
