Bargaining

I was brought to an On-Call room. I had spent many a restless shift in this room. None of which were with my husband… "Grey's Anatomy" gets that completely wrong.

George Wickham had placed my hands behind my back, he secured them with rolled gauze which he seemingly made impossibly tight. He left the room several minutes before this, which allowed me to use the pen in my pocket and work out the knots. If he saw that I loosened them, I was surely dead, but he might kill me anyway.

Soon enough, the door opened again as if a cloud of darkness descended upon the room. Wickham entered with another hostage: Dr. Lydia Jenkins. Fear and glistening tears filled her eyes.

"Dr. Jenkins, I think you know Dr. Bennet. After all, it was because of both of you I was fired and lost all hope for working in the Medical Field again." Walking closer to me, he caressed my face, the action made me want to vomit. I pulled back. Grabbing my face, he looked me in the eyes and forced a kiss upon my lips. I could now feel the bile rising in my throat. I swallowed it down and looked to the man of my nightmares.

He continued, "The three of us are going to get away from here. Elizabeth, you will be my wife" turning to the cowering Doctor he pressed, "and you Lydia will fulfill whatever other needs we might have; you shall be our cook, maid, lover." He grinned.

"Mr. Wickham, I have plenty of money and connections. Whatever you need just ask and you shall have it. Please, j-just- don't hurt Lydia." I pleaded.

"I don't want money. I want your gorgeous form on my bed each morning. And I want that sorry excuse for your significant other" he said emphasizing each word, "dead as a doornail. Got it?"

As much as it burdened me to say it, I continued. "And you will have it, but we do not need Lydia to live out the remainder of our days. It can be a gift to me, that you let her go. She is innocent in this." As soon as the words were out, I knew I had misspoken.

"INNOCENT?! She is as innocent in this situation as you are. But because you were coerced into the situation by my former rival, I am willing to forgive you. But she will pay every day for her actions." He said grabbing Lydia by the hair and forcing her out the door.

I waited in silence for what felt like eons until I heard distant yelling from the corridor.

We all sat around in the O.R. in silence. No one dared make eye contact with me. While I did not inform them of the particulars of the situation, they knew something had gone terribly wrong.

My phone rang, it was the Chief again. I immediately answered it.

"Wickham has taken another hostage. This one is Dr. Lydia Jenkins."

Walking down the hallway beside an On-Call room, I heard screaming. Bursting through the door, I found George Wickham forcing himself on an intern. I did not hesitate to pull the sweaty piece of trash off the poor girl and punch him in the face. Knocking him out.

Once she was decent, I assisted her out of the room as I paged security, then the Chief.

My phone rang as the normally soft-spoken nature of the Chief was nearly yelling.

"Please explain to me how a nurse is out cold in an On-Call room, naked, and with what appears to be a welt on the front of his face."

"Dr. Jones, I fear this is a conversation best had in person. I am coming to your office right now with someone who can explain the situation. It is not entirely my experience to tell."

The young Doctor looked at him through tear-filled eyes.

"Please Dr. Darcy. You cannot tell anyone. No one will believe me. I will be the one fired. I am $300,000 in debt from school. I have to keep this position."

"Dr. Jenkins, I promise you, you will not be fired. I saw and heard what happened and will attest to it, but first I need you to tell the Chief. Is there anyone who might be a calming presence?"

"Dr.-Dr. Bennet. If you c-could." Dr. Jenkins stammered.

After a quick page to the woman who I knew would be the most helpful in just about any situation, we walked to the Chief's office.

"Has Dr. Jenkins been harmed in any way?" I asked into the phone.

"Other than her arms tied around her back, no. The S.W.A.T. Team just arrived and should be infiltrating the hospital as we speak."

"Where are they?"

"He has Elizabeth in an On-Call Room, Lydia is with him. Wickham and Lydia are moving to the surgical floor as we speak."
