As a glow shows in the horizon,
Giving warmth to the ground so frozen
And chasing away the white sheet off,
I awake from hay of slumber soft.
Panning my eyes out the barn, I see
The meadow blanketed without glee.
Nude woods color the empty landscape,
As chimney smoke grays up to escape.
Hear the horses neigh and the cows moo
As I shake my wounded arm anew.
My loyal cat comes up to lick
My wound so gently; I do not flinch.
Alas, light pours in through the window
As intense as I know long ago.
The grass in the meadow dance freely,
With floral friends and fully-haired trees.
My heart skips with joy: wait is over.
Today my lover will be back there
On the moss-covered fence on the east
Under the shade of magnolia tree.
With my wing fully healed, I fly out
Over the trees and the shoots en route
To the moss-covered fence on the east
Under the shade of magnolia tree.
Chirp, chirp, chirp, I sing,
Lis'ning for the voice I long to hear...
Chirp, chirp, chirp, I sing,
Rustling leaves, the only sound in here...
Chirp, chirp, chirp, I repeat...
Then I heard a response to my call.
But it was only of my cat's feet
-Of the one who loves me, after all.
