The next morning, I was awoken by the gong. As in the 'time for lessons' gong. I scrambled out of bed, and tripped over and landed on the hard, stone floor. Grabbing my library card and school pouch, I hurried out of the room and arrived in the entrance hall just as Tsunami was finishing up her welcome speech.
"So, once again, welcome all, to a new year at Jade Mountain Academy!" She concluded, and we all burst into applause. Then we all became a flurry of confusion, as every student tried to find the other nine dragonets in their winglet.
I wonder who the others are?
Icaricia is so nice! And she loves art! Like me! I'm going to tell her that we have art class with the quartz winglet after history. I don't think she knows yet.
Hmmm. . .I wonder what's for lunch?
Lalala! My first day! I can't wait!
Where is Bluemoon? She's supposed to be here! And we're already going to class.
With the help of that last panicked thought, I finally spotted them. . .heading out of the hall. What was wrong with me today? I dodged dragons and skidded past wings, until, gasping, I reached the end of the line just before it disappeared. "Where were you?" hissed Heliamphora. " You were almost left behind!"
"What Heliamphora means to say, is that we are so glad you could make it in time," interrupts Harp, glaring at Heliamphora. Heliamphora shrugs, and turns back to the front. We enter a dark, gloomy cave, lit by a few glowing torches. The history classroom. Webs is there, behind a stone desk, unsmiling and all high-and-mighty.
"Good morning students. We have a busy day today so go to your desks quietly. And stay silent," he orders. We shuffle to our seats, and gaze up at the teacher. "For the first few months, we shall be studying how the past connects with today, and later on we shall look at some memorable Jade Mountain Academy students." Webs went on to explain the exact timetable for the year, before stating the expectations in his cave.
"Three, homework is to be handed in on time, or you will have to finish it during class, and your classwork will be additional homework. Four, every order is to be obeyed without question. . ." Webs could talk. I had my classmates to attend to. Or rather my classmates' minds.
GODS Webs is soooo boring. At least we're in the mountains. But I miss the Claws of Clouds.
I wish I was in the library right now. It's even better than the hive library, back in Pantala!
Mangoes. Coconuts. Banana's and pineapples. ALL I WANT IS THE RAIN FOREST! And sun time. Sun time's good too.
It. Is. So. Hot here. I mean, exciting, but humid. Uh oh. Auntie wouldn't want me to complain. 'Bad Harp,' she'd say.
Ohhhh, I wonder if my winglet will appreciate a silk blanket each. Or bag. I can't wait until my metamorphosis!
Hmmph. Boring. The only good thing around here is Harp and Princess Bluemoon. But then again they are my best friends.
Stone. Mud. Everything's stone. I want muuuuuuuuud.
Hmm. Just hmm. I can't wait to meet other SeaWings at the underground lake later. And I here there might be Princess Turquoise there. Shes the daughter of the SeaWing Queen and a blind RainWing I think.
(Singing)Lalalala. Musiiiiiiic! I wonder if my friends would like an ode to theeeeeem. A SandWing is not unknown to beeeeeee musicaaaaaal!
And that was when I tore myself away, just in time to look up and find Webs glaring down at me.
