That evening Hermione slept through the night. Although Luna said the chances are slim, she couldn't help but get her hopes up. To see him again, to hold him. To see the twins laughing together. George didn't want to be disturbed that day; his door locked with a silencing charm on it. She would tell him in the morning. Her dreams were filled with happy memories.

It's been two weeks since their kiss; Fred returned to his usual way and Hermione turned back to her studies. She was returning from the library when the tall red head turned up next to her.

"Hi Granger." He beamed down at her.

"Hi Weasley."

"Oi! You never call me that."

"If you are going to call me Granger, I'm going to call you Weasley."

"Fine. Good evening, Lady Hermione." Fred bowed at her.

"Good evening, Sir Frederick." She laughed and made a curtsy.

"Fred if you please." He chuckled.

"So. what are you doing here Fred? So close to the library, you might combust."

Fred gasped and clutched his heart. "Did I hear correctly? Did Miss Hermione Granger, prefect, brightest witch of her age, make a joke?"

She slapped his arm. "I can be fun you know." She said slightly hurt.

"Oh, I know. You just gotta let it out more." He winked. "Maybe you can assist me in a prank?"

"A prank? Not breaking any school rules, are you?"

"Not any big ones." He gave her a sly smile.

"Fine, why not. Need a distraction from –" Her eyes turned wide. "Who are we pranking?"

"I was planning on Malfoy. Why? Do you have someone else in mind?"

Hermione looked up at him as she smiled mischievously at him.

"Oh, I know that smile. George and I invented that smile." He smiled back the same.

She stood on her tip toes and reached his ear. "Umbridge." She whispered and her breath sent chills down his spine.

"Merlin Mione. Go big or go home right?" He smiled surprised at her.

"You know me, I go all in."

"Right that you do."

"So, what's the plan?"

"Oh something simple. We had some leftovers from our previous products. Wanted to save it for the right person. And you certainly chose wise my young apprentice."

"Apprentice? It's not because I do one prank you can roll me in with the rest." She huffed but a smile spread her face.

"Come on, let's go." He took her hand and ran through the hall dragging a laughing Hermione with him. He stopped at the corner a few feet away from Umbridge's office.

"What now?" Hermione whispered. Fred looked around the corner before grinning back at her.

"A distraction." He pointed at a spot behind her. She turned and saw the poltergeist dancing behind her. "Peeves!" Fred beckoned him over. The ghost stopped dancing and floated over. "We need a distraction. Up for it?"

"Always." He had a wide grin across his face. And floated away. Hermione looked back at Fred.

"He listens to you?"

"Yeah, I mean not always but he loves a good prank." He smirked. At that moment Peeves took control of one of the knights and started throwing things at the students. With the yelling of the students Umbridge stormed out of her office and down the hall.

"We need to be quick." He took her hand again and quickly entered the office and gently closed the door behind him.

"Perfect!" Hermione followed his gaze and saw a fresh pot of tea on her desk. He grabbed a small candy from his pocket and handed it over.

"The honor is all yours."

She smiled and took the purple candy and dropped it in the tea pot. The candy dissolved immediately leaving no trace behind.

"Ok let's go... I think Peeves is done throwing stuff."

"Wait!" She turned back to Umbridge's desk and pointed her wand at the quill. She murmured a spell and turned around. "Ready." Fred cocked an eyebrow but with no time to spare, he poked his head out the door.

"It's safe." He reached out his hand and she eagerly took it. They just closed the door when they saw a pink spot coming their way. Hermione's eyes widened in panic but Fred just led her the other way and hid in an alcove.

"What's with you and small spaces?" Hermione asked as she noticed once again that they stood very close.

"A small space with a beautiful girl what's not to like," He grinned and she blushed.

"Fred." She said in a stop lying to me – voice.

"What? You are beautiful." He reached out and put a lost curl behind her ear. His eyes were locked on hers as he slowly bent down, giving her time to pull away. When he was a couple of inches away, she stood on her tip toes and met his lips. His hands quickly found a way in her hair and the small of her back, while her hands locked themselves around his neck. Hermione was now the one who asked to deepen the kiss as her tong grazed his lips. Fred quickly obliged and then they were fighting for dominance. Fred stepped forward and backed her up against the wall, never breaking their kiss. The kiss lasted until they were out of breath. They broke apart but Fred leaned his head against hers. "Wow!" He whispered still catching his breath. Hermione looked him in the eyes and smiled. "Wow" she agreed. They stood there for a couple of minutes catching their breath, heads still pressed together.

"What did you do to her quill anyway?"

"You know the self-correcting quills you guys were working on?" He nodded as he pulled his head back.

"I did the opposite. Every time she tries to write, the words will automatically be wrong. I even did it to her ink, so if she tries another quill, it will have the same effect."

"You're amazing!" He looked back in the hallway and stepped out. "That's a great idea for our shop! I need to find George."

"Ok, go tell him." She chuckled. "What was that candy by the way?"

"Oh. It was one of our firsts. It gives you boils in places you really don't want any." He answered as they made their way up to the tower.

"Is there a place where you would want boils?" She beamed up at him.

"Ha! Guess not but she will be having trouble sitting for the rest of the day." He winked at her and she started laughing as they entered the common room. Four sets of eyes fell on them as they walked in laughing. They made their way to the group. Fred sat down next to George on the floor as Hermione dropped down next to Ginny on the sofa.

"What's with you?" Ginny raised her eyebrows at him.

"Hermione here is a bookworm turned prankster." Fred beamed up at her.

"What?!" The rest exclaimed.

And Fred launched in telling the story to the others, which made them all wide-eyed in shock looking at Hermione and all fell in a laughing fit. Fred then turned to George and told him about Hermione's idea. George was the next one to beam up at her.

"Oi! Granger, do you have any other ideas?" She grinned at the twins.

"George? Are you up? I need to talk to you." She said after knocking on his bedroom door the next morning.

"Yeah, come in." She heard him grumble. She gently pushed the door open and saw George lying down on his stomach, holding a pillow to his chest that hid his face. She walked up to him and sat down on the side of his bed.

"George?" He turned slowly and looked up at her. "Hi." She gave him a weak smile. George sat up straight and motioned for her to join. She took off her slippers and crawled up next to him, George swung his arms around her and they just hugged in silence for a while.

She sighed as she pulled away.

"George.. I- you know I would do anything for you right?"

"Yeah, Hermione is everything alright?"

"Yes, it's just –" She switched seats so she could sit in front of him. She played with her sleeve as she looked down. "I'm leaving."

"What? Why? Is it my fault? Please Mione don't leave." He begged her.

"I have to. It may be a slim chance but I need to try. I need to try and make things right." She finally looked up at him.

George shook his head confused. "Mione what are you talking about?"

"You know that the time turners in the ministry were destroyed right?"

George didn't answer he just waited for her to continue.
"Well, it got me thinking. Those couldn't be the only one in the world, right? A lot of families pass them down. I remember that Luna said that her dad had one a couple of years ago." She pulled out the time turner from under her shirt. "But-" she said as she saw George's face light up. "-it only goes back 24 hours. Just like the ones in the ministry."

George's face turned angry. "Why didn't she give that the moment the battle was over!?" His voice hoarse from the lack of speech the last couple of months.

"Because-" She grabbed his hand and rubbed her thumb slowly over it. "-their home was in rubble. The death eaters destroyed it. Luna only found it a couple of weeks ago."

"Why are you telling me this if they don't work?"

"Because this isn't the only type of turner. There are others like this one but in black and silver. They can go back to about five years and they only can be used once. After it's used it would destroy itself." She was twirling the time turner between her fingers. "If someone used it, that person will have memories of both lives. And the turner can only transport two people. But the thing is... they are rare, very rare. It won't be easy to find, if even possible."

"Between us Hermione, it's our best chance." George managed a smile for the first time since the battle, she missed that smile.

"You don't have to come with me. I will just let you know if I find something."

"Of course, I'll come with you. We have more luck if we are together."

"Are you sure? You haven't been outside since...-"

"Yes, but now I have a reason, a purpose. Mione we might just get him back." He smiled with tears rolling down his cheek.

"I hope so." Tears rolling down her face. She leaned closer and wrapped him in a hug.

-FWHGFWHGFWHGFWHGFWHGFWHGFW -

"Where do we start?" George asked as they pulled apart.

"West." She said with a grin.

"West?"

"That's how Luna said it to me." She chuckled softly. "She said we should start in North-America and Canada. Maybe even South-America."

"Merlin! That's a lot of ground to cover." He rubbed his forehead.

"Yeah, I know. But Luna also said we should look into the pure-blood line."

"That narrows it down." He said a little more brightly.

"I think we should start in North-America. No language barrier and such."

"Right... maybe start in New York? And then we can go from the east to the west coast. When do you want to go?"

"We need to register a portkey, but that won't take long. What I'm worried about is your family."

"Our family." George corrected.

"Yeah, what are we going to say to them?"

"Maybe we can just say we are going to travel for a bit. Trying to grieve in our own way."

"I think it's plausible for you. But I think I need another reason."

They sat in silence for a bit before Hermione thought of something.

"I could say that I'm going to find my parents and restore their memories. And that you want to accompany me, because you don't want me to go alone and you need to grieve and be out of the flat."

"I think that could work. Let's go arrange a portkey and you can tell the family."

"No George, if you're coming, you're going to tell it yourself... Or at least together."

"Fine, it was worth a shot."

"I haven't seen anyone either Georgie. Only Harry and Gin."

"Together." He said as he jumped out of the bed and reached for her hand. She grabbed his and stood up.

"Together." And they smiled at each other.
