A group of dragonets are chasing a human, an IceWing in the lead. The small NightWing jumps in front of everybody, and picks up the small animal. The IceWing steps up to her, and glares down at her. "Wake up," he says. And then I realize that actually it was my friends saying 'wake up', and that I'm lying on floor. Harp and Icaricia sigh in relief, and Tsunami helps me up, and leads me of to the hospital.
There, Clay is rolling up a bandage, but he rushes over as soon as he sees me. Tsunami and him exchange glances, and Clay says," I'm sorry Bluemoon, but since you keep collapsing, we have to keep you here. And if the attacks continue, I'm afraid we'll have to move you back to the rain forest where you can be cared for properly."
I nod feebly, and totter over to my usual bed. I sink into the mattress and immediately fall asleep.
I wake up in the middle of the night. I have decided, though I don't know when, to fly away. I don't know what's causing these 'attacks', as Clay put it, but I'm going to find out. I get out of bed, and tiptoe out into the hallway. I sneak down to my normal cave, and shake Harp and Heli awake. "I'm going to find out why I'm having visions," I whisper.
"Wait. Those collapsations-" "-that's not a word Harp-" "Right, but those, were because you were having visions? What else can you do?"
"Ummmmm, I can kinda read minds?" I reply.
"What?! And you never told us that?" explodes Heliamphora.
"Yeah, anyway I'm off, you can come with me if you want, but HURRY UP!"
I run out of the room, to the nearest window, and launch myself into the air. I can hear two pairs of beating wings behind me. I fly on and on, until we reach a large forest. this forest is home to a recently rebuilt human village. We land in the center square, where many humans are scurrying about, and are only moderately scared when we thump down. I raise my talons, indicating that I'm weaponless.
The humans calm down quickly, and crowd around us, curiously. I wave a little, and I can hear Heliamphora being indignant behind me, and harp cooing at them. "What do you want?" asks one human, her accent a little rough.
"We just wanted to have a look around. And maybe some food?" I can tell that the humans are all suspicious. But after saying that, an old woman hobbles into the square from an old hut. "What's going on here?" she asks. "Oh, dragon visitors. It's okay, Iris, they're friends." the human stepped back, and the wise woman raised her arms. Everyone immediately began to rush around, preparing meat, putting up flowers and decorations. They seemed to be preparing for a party.
So long since the last dragons. I can't wait until the party! we haven't had one in such a long time. I was just waiting for an excuse to throw one. We all seem so mellow these days, and our children are not playing as much as they used to. We are growing too old. We must be young again.
Of course, I'm an idiot! The party was for us! I wondered how humans danced was it the same as us? I looked up towards the sky, and spun around, enjoying the sunny day. I thought I saw a flash of blue that wasn't the sky, but then I realized that I was sweeping my tail around and the humans had to jump out of the way. I sat down and tucked my tail in around my legs.
I couldn't wait until the party!
