Chapter 2 - Rhysand:

I looked up from the tiled floor I'd been studying as I hurried down the hall when I saw her. The same girl from the party. I wasn't even sure why I'd helped her last night. I didn't know her, had never seen her before in my life and yet it was almost as if I'd been drawn to her last night. It was like it was almost instinct to protect her. I watched her as we passed. It was brief, but her eyes, calm like the ocean before a storm, a soft blue speckled with what almost appeared to be gold, met mine for a split second and something roared alive in me. Something I was either too drunk to notice, or two worried of getting caught at the party without Amara. Mate. The word rang in my head. Mine.

I shook off the words my mind seemed to throw at me, as I sauntered through the crowd to where she had been standing, I'd lost sight of her for a second and it was as though she had vanished.

"Rhys?" A velvety female voice reached my ears. I turned to see Ianthe batting her eyelashes at me, with a seducing smile spread across her face. I just smirked.

"The (Th-E), what can I do for you?" I purred, deciding to humor her.

"I was hoping you'd take me out tonight?" Her forwardness not something new. I shook my head,

"You know me, I don't take anyone out. Ever." Mate. That word flashed through my mind again. Mine. I shook whatever that was from my mind and returned my gaze to Ianthe. Her smile had faltered a bit.

"Right. Except for Amara. You're like her little whore." She rolled her eyes, "But, we had soooo," she smirked, dragging her hand down my chest, "much fun last time." I rolled my eyes, and brushed past her, eager to get to my next class. She just huffed then continued on her way

I walked into the room and stopped short. There she was. Her blue eyes cast downwards, staring at the words on her paper. Her hair seemed to catch the sun's golden rays, as her small frame rose and fell with each breath. I was instantly drawn to her.

"Ahem. Thank you for joining us Mr. Night. You may take a seat at the empty desk besides Mrs. Archeron." Mr. Wilder said, his voice laced with amusement. I just nodded, taking my seat and trying not to look at her.

"Do you have a pencil I can borrow?" A voice piped up to my right. I saw her staring at me. I handed her mine. She started to object, but quieted as I pulled out another for myself. I shot her a small smile, which she returned with a timid one of her own. I highly doubted she remembered me.

"Hey. I'm Rhys." I smirked. She was definitely staring

"Feyre." She replied with another hesitant smile. Before we could say anything else Mr. Wilder began class.
