Chapter 6 - Rhysand:
"Stop resisting my summons." Her cold, cruel voice rang about the chamber. Causing people to glance to see who entered. I turned towards her. Amarantha was sprawled on her throne, blood red dress accenting her already red hair as she picked at her nails.
"I'm sorry my lady." I dropped into a low bow.
"You should be. Now come here pet, come sit beside me." I shoved down my growl of anger before doing as she said. She smirked, her face the picture of cruelty. A low knock sounded on the grand chamber door.
"Enter." The command sent tremors though lesser males. A blue clad fae woman entered a wicked smirk twisted her once beautiful features into something evil.
"My Queen," the female swept into a graceful bow. "I have news. A new human girl has transferred to the school. She's dating Lord Tamlin. What if the prophecy comes true? She is a threat to us and should be dealt with immediately."
"Thank you Attora. You are free to dispatch anyone to take her out." Amara responded, voice full of cruel delight.
"My Queen, if I may be so bold, I wish to dispatch the one male who would never fail us. The cruelest, darkest male of them all. Lord Rhysand." Attora responded, her lips curling into a disgusting grin.
"You speak quite highly of my pet here." Amara replied, running a hand through my hair. I forced myself not to pull away.
"He may be your pet, but he is the best we've got. And it's a perfect way to test his loyalty to us." She reasoned. Amarantha was quite for a beat.
"You have a point my dear, very well, we shall send my Lord. But," she paused, the candle light glittering in her black eyes, "He shall make it a game, take her from Tamlin, then take her from this world!" I kept my face impassive, neutral.
"What exactly do you mean by "take" her from Tamlin?" My voice was pure curiosity.
"Make her fall for you. Take the one thing Tamlin can never, thoroughly claim, her heart. Won't it be fun to steal her from your greatest enemy? To take away his happiness?" I schooled my face into a thoughtful consideration before I stood dropping into a low bow, a malicious smile forming on my lips.
"It would be my pleasure" I purred, letting some of my darkness roll off me. Amara smirked an approving smirk as I turned and left the chamber, Attora close on my heels.
"Rhysand-" I turned, cutting her off.
"It's Lord Rhysand to you." My voice was cold.
"Apologies my Lord, I was just wondering how exactly you plan on achieving your goal. Especially because you've already met her, and you already have a thing for her." She smirked. I couldn't hide the surprise that flared in my shadowed eyes.
"I have eyes and ears everywhere. I might grovel to the Queen, but it doesn't mean that I necessarily like her or her reign. Rhysand, you can't kill that girl. She can break the curse Amara placed on this land. The reason I requested you to carry it out is I know that you can go and scare them a bit. Work them up so that he sends her back to the human town. She will be safe there. And get a name, then Amara can kill a human and we still have a chance." She finished.
"You could be killed if I told Amara what you just said." I replied through my teeth.
"Yes, I am aware." Was her only reply.
"I will take what you said into consideration. Thank you." I stated lowly.
"How do you know this isn't a trap and I'll just go tell Amara that you plan to betray her." Attora cocked her head to the side, staring at me.
"You won't." I said simply.
"How do you know? Why do you trust me?" I shrugged.
"Because I entered your mind. You wish the girl and I no harm." With that I windowed out of the underground Palace and into the Spring House.
I strode through the house, ripping down barriers as I went, until all the enchantments protecting the house were left in pieces. I followed Tamlin's scent until I reached his grand dining room where I found Tamlin and his trusty sidekick Lucian.
"Well Tamlin, long time no see! How are you doing? Did you like my little gift?" I purred.
"The head on the stick was you?" Lucian spoke, drawing my attention to him where he stood in front of the curtain. I was about to reply when another scent caught my attention. Feminine and lovely, she smelled of summer nights, and twinkling stars. Of moon-kissed flowers that bloomed at midnight. I inwardly shuttered, my eyes snapping to the third place set at the table.
"Tamlin, where is your guest?" He knew I smelt her too.
"She went to visit her parents, we thought she'd be back by dinner but she decided to stay the night with them." He stated flatly. He'd never been good at lying.
"You dare lie to me?!" My eyes flickered to Lucian and they both froze. One thought I was in her head, she was so fragile, half a thought and it would lay in shatters. I saw me through her eyes over Lucians shoulder, I felt the terror she felt. And the recognition. She knew me from class. I smirked as I held her mind. Not allowing her to move, to speak.
"Rhysand! Please! I will do anything. Let her go!" Tamlin was out of his seat, body between the girl and me.
"You should see all the dirty thoughts she has about you, Tamlin. How she wants you to bite her in a night full of passion." He froze, they both did. The girl was begging now, she hated me. Good. I sauntered up to her, releasing her mind.
"What is your name?" I already knew, but I was hoping she'd give me another. A fake. I smirked as I held her chin up to me. Pure hatred burned in her stormy eyes. Good.
"Clare. Clare Beddor." She breathed, I inwardly sighed.
"Thank you, Clare. See that wasn't so hard!" I stood straight and turned strutting to the door. I paused and turned.
"Amarantha sends her regards" I winked at the Lord and his lover, memorizing the lines of her face, the way her eyes sparkled in the sun's setting rays, the pink of her lips. And I left, returning to bitch to tell what I've found.
