Chapter 3

Grace walked into the living room to see Judd sitting on the couch in his pajamas. He wore his reading glasses as he typed on his computer.

"Hey, Judd," Grace said.

"Good morning, Babe," Judd said. "You look mighty fine."

"Are you kidding me, Judd?" Grace asked as she saw what Judd had on his computer. "No more toys for the baby. The baby isn't even born yet, and you've already bought too many toys."

"Kids never have enough toys," Judd said. "My daddy got me so many toys when I was a youngin."

Vince walked into the room.

"Vince," Grace said. "Tell Judd to stop buying toys."

"Vince," Judd said flexing his right arm muscle. "Tell Grace to stop telling me to stop buying toys."

"Wow!" Vince exclaimed. "Grace. Stop telling Judd to stop buying toys."

"Seriously, Judson?" Grace asked. "You used the fact that he finds you hot against me?"

"I really need to find my own place," Vince said. "Which is why I'm going apartment hunting."

"You want me to come with you?" Grace asked.

"No thank you," Vince replied. "But if Judd wants to come…."

"Sorry, Vincent," Judd said. "I've got to go to work."

"Bummer," Vince said. "I guess Grace can come with me if she wants."

Judd got up and went into his and Grace's bedroom to change. Vince looked at Grace, who crossed her arms.

"Would you quit flirting with my husband?" Grace asked.

"Sorry," Vince said. "But do you want still want to go apartment hunting with me?"

"Sure," Grace replied.

Judd quickly came out of the bedroom in his uniform.

"I'm off to work!" Judd hollered. "See you come mornin'!"

Judd exited the house. Grace looked to see the sad look on Vince's face.

"What is it?" Grace asked.

"I miss being a firefighter in a city," Vince said. "I don't like being a small-town firefighter. I miss my cousin Jackson, I miss Aaliyah, I miss the Station 37, and I miss Tucker. And you know what?"

"What?" Grace asked.

"I really thought making a change would help me heal from Will dying," Vince said. "It really doesn't help at all. I'm not happy."

"If you're not happy, go home," Grace said.

"I can't," Vince said. "I messed things up too much by having an affair with my boss."

"We all make mistakes," Grace said.

"I love Tucker so much though," Vince said. "I love him. And combined with the loss of Will, I just can't face Oklahoma."

"Vince," Grace said. "There's this exercise I did with Judd when he couldn't deal with his emotions after the explosion. I think it would be a good idea if we did that exercise."

"No," Vince said. "I refuse to do that."

"Vince," Grace said. "I think that…"

"Are you going apartment hunting with me or not?" Vince asked.

"Fine," Grace said. "Let's go. But I really do think you'd benefit from this."

"Well," Vince said. "I really don't agree. Now, let's go."

OKLAHOMA CITY

Angie lied down in her bed moaning. Mary entered the room with some soup.

"Here you go, Sis," Mary said, setting the soup on Angie's bedside table. "This should make you feel better."

"Ugh!" Angie moaned. "The smell of the soup makes me feel nauseous! I think I have the flu!"

"I don't think so," Mary said. "You don't look flushed, and you don't have a fever."

"Maybe it's the virus," Angie said.

"Or maybe you're…" Mary started to say before Angie cut her off.

"I'm not pregnant," Angie said. "Jackson and I have been using protection. Besides, I had my…. Wait! I have not had my period! Do you think…."

"You stay here," Mary said. "I'll go get pregnancy tests out of my purse."

"You have pregnancy tests in your purse?" Angie asked.

"I work at a teen health clinic," Mary said. "Of course I have pregnancy tests in my purse."

Mary exited the room and Angie's phone went off. She then opened Facetime to see Jackson's face.

"Hey, Jackson," Angie said.

"Hey, Angie," Jackson said. "Just calling to see how you're doing."

"I think I have the flu," Angie lied. "It's nothing too serious."

Mary walked into the room with three pregnancy tests.

"It's always a good idea to take three pregnancy tests, just in case of a false negative or positive," Mary said.

"Pregnancy test?" Jackson asked.

"Oh," Mary said. "Not for Angie. They are for, uh… They are for me. I think I am pregnant."

"You're a terrible liar," Angie said.
