A/N: I know I just uploaded a chapter two days ago, but this one was done and ready so I figured I'd upload it as well. I replied to most of the reviews, but I'm not sure if anyone was getting my replies. So if you did get a reply could you please drop a review and let me know :) Just so I know they're getting through. Thanks!

This chapter has Addy, family time, and the new baby all in one 3

The humidity was stifling outside. Bella watched Edward as he pushed the lawn mower across the front yard while the sound bounced off the trees circling. They'd become so normal here. Their time in DC was spent locked away in a fortress any time they weren't working. Among many things, there was no yard and there were certainly no close friends or family. She wiped at the sweat that dripped down her throat and tried to get his attention. Edward's head turned toward her as he let go of the handle, letting the mower die down until it was suddenly quiet again. Bella's ears still vibrated with the sound of the now dead engine.

"You okay?" He asked, his voice slightly raised to carry across the expanse of the lawn.

"Yeah, I brought you some water." Bella held up a sweating glass bottle. Smiling as he jogged over to her, his chest glistened under the unforgiving sun. She watched his throat bob up and down as he drank it as if he'd been lost in the desert for days. Letting out a sigh of refreshment, he handed the bottle back to her.

"Thank you." Edward smiled at Bella and in certain moments, she could see what he must've looked like as a teenager. So full of innocence and hope regarding his future. The years have weathered his face, his tan skin bore the scars of life, but he was still just as beautiful. Personally sculpted by some higher being.

"I'm pregnant."

Edward froze, staring at her as he processed her words.

"What?"

"I'm pregnant." She repeated. He had yet to react and suddenly Bella found herself feeling like a 16 year old standing before her prom date instead of a grown, married woman. Had he changed his mind? Was he not as excited as he had been the first two times?

Edward's face broke into a smile and his hands pulled her body into his.

"Fuck, are you serious?"

Bella was off her feet and being spun in Edward's arms. Her stomach flips as the ground twists beneath them.

"Whoa, okay put me down." She laughed and he calmly placed her back upright. Bella's hands covered her stomach where there was the slightest change. His large hands covered hers and he pressed them against her torso.

"When did you find out?"

"Um right before Addy's party."

"That was two weeks ago." She could hear the smallest edge of hurt in his voice.

"Is everything okay with it?" His eyes filled with fear, but he set his jaw and tried his hardest to hide it.

Bella smiled and nodded at him.

"Yes, everything's fine as far as I know. I haven't been to the doctor yet, but it's really early. There was just a lot going on with her party and then you wanted to set up the security system so we had people coming in and out. And then we were just enjoying a lull in all the excitement."

Edward nodded and his smile returned. For the first time since she had found out, Bella felt as if she could breathe. It had surprised her how much she hated keeping the pregnancy from Edward. But this time her intentions were pure, she had wanted to make it a special moment. Not in the middle of almost dying like the first, and not after hiding it for so long out of fear like with Addy. However, she could never come up with the right way to say it or the right moment. Not until she was standing here under the sun with a man who loved her more than himself and the trees blowing in the hot summer breeze around them.

O...O

Edward took Bella's hand in his as they made their way down the sidewalk towards the deli. Addy skipped ahead of them causing her ponytail to swish back and forth. This was their first real outing as a family since arriving in Chicago. Bella had decided they couldn't keep Addy secluded inside different houses for her entire life and even if they were being watched Bella and Edward both felt they could protect themselves. Bella's stomach had grown over the past few weeks and it was obvious she was further along than she had originally thought. So she set up a doctor's appointment for them all to attend to get the first look at the baby. Edward walked on the side next to the street and his eyes constantly moved to ensure that no one was too close to them. No open windows, no slow creeping cars, no men who were staring just a little too long.

The air conditioner hit them full force when they opened the door, the sweat on their bodies chilled almost instantly, and a heavy set man behind the counter called out.

"Welcome friends!" His voice was deep from years of smoking and sweat clung to his face. He slammed a meaty hand down on the bell and a server ran over to grab the tray of food.

"Sit wherever you'd like." He dragged a rag across his bald head and then draped it back over his shoulder.

Bella and Edward followed Addy to a cracked green booth on the side of the deli that wasn't next to a window. You can never be too careful and Edward refused to be taken out by a stray bullet and a cowardly sniper.

A young girl with dark hair and eyes came up to their table. She pulled a pad from the front of her apron and smiled at Addy.

"I'm Elena, what can I get for you guys?"

Bella was busy ordering drinks and food for them, but Edward was more interested in watching the sidewalk. He knew these streets, he had grown up on them for most of his childhood. It was nothing to order a hit and find that person's body in the back alley the next day. He knew there was a contract out for him and more than likely Bella as well. But he didn't know which family had put it out yet and he didn't know what the fuck Jacob Black was doing back around. Then there was Seth; Bella's supposed best friend who had opened fire on her. Edward wanted to put a bullet between his eyes, but Bella would never forgive him.

"Edward." Bella's voice cut through his thoughts and he tuned back into the conversation at the table.

"What's wrong?" His eyes met his wife's. She shook her head and moved her silverware from one side of her place setting to the other. A nervous habit she'd had for years, fiddling with whatever was around her.

"Nothing, you just seemed to be getting lost in your head."

"I was," Edward nodded and turned to Addy who was busy coloring in a barn, her red crayon flew back and forth over the white paper. Edward noticed she had drawn a figure next to the barn.

"Piccola, who is this?" He pointed to the drawing of a person. Addy shrugged.

"I don't know his name."

Bella stiffened and she looked across the table at Edward as they shared a knowing look.

"Where do you see him?" Bella asked.

"I don't see him no more, but he was at my birthday party. He told me happy birthday and that he'd uh see me later."

"Baby, what does he look like?" She could feel the way her heart raced and the familiar heaviness of fear that settled in her stomach.

"Um he's big like daddy, but browner and has black hair." She switched crayons, her little hand picking up a yellow one to draw the sun.

Elena chose that moment to reappear and dropped baskets of their orders in front of each person. Bella took the coloring sheet from Addy as she dug into her sandwich and looked it over. Jacob had been at her house? That close to her daughter without her knowing? How is that even possible? The paper started sliding from between her fingers and she looked across the formica table at Edward as he took it from her.

"Let's eat. We have a very important appointment to get to and this can wait."

Bella nodded and glanced at her lunch, but her appetite was long gone by now. She'd check the cameras when she got home to see if she could catch a glance of Jacob from her party. When they moved in they had stupidly only installed cameras on the house and she assumed Jacob knew that because he stayed in the trees. But now they had cameras and motion detectors every few feet in the woods all the way around the property.

O...O

The lights were too low in this fancy ass OBGYN's office and the chairs were too comfortable. "Best in the city, she delivers all the babies." Edward had said. She thought, at first, that he meant it figuratively, but then she realized he meant the family's babies when Edward handed an envelope to the receptionist. There was no one else in the waiting room which she had found odd for the top rated OB in a large city. But when the mob brings another pregnant woman in she guessed privacy is the top concern.

"So if you ever knock up your mistress you'd bring her here?" Bella joked, but Edward didn't smile. Oops.

"I would never take on a mistress and no, the girls don't get brought here. They're either taken to a clinic to handle it or they see another doctor. This is the family's doctor. Girls aren't family, they're collateral damage." His eyes never left his phone, his fingers were busy flying over the keyboard and Addy was preoccupied with the toy corner.

Collateral damage.

The phrase repeated through her head and hung heavy in the air between them. How could he be so desensitized to the lives of others? She knew the answer, of course, the constant beatings and murder that surrounded him would've killed that part of him years ago. Bella wondered what Edward would be like as the boss. She couldn't see him being as cold as Carlisle. He was too soft to her, but then she remembered the Edward she met. Edward Masen, the man who wanted to be Mayor. He was cold, calculating, and had damn near killed her at one point. He was only soft when it came to her and his daughter. But would that make them his weakness? She already knew the answer to that.

"Do the girls know what they're getting into?" She asked quietly and crossed her legs in front of her.

"Of course they do." Edward tucked his phone away inside his suit coat and focused on her.

"A lot of the girls either work for us already, grow up around us or we find them at the clubs. They know or find out very quickly, especially if the guy they're messing around with is already married."

"And they're okay with it?"

Edward laughed.

"Some of them are; especially the young ones. They get a ton of money, jewelry, an apartment, et cetera. It doesn't much matter to them that they only see their man on Saturday nights and a few times during the week. Friday nights and Sundays are always for the family. Saturdays are for the whores."

"Edward." Bella's eyes went wide.

"I'm sorry," He put his hands up. "It's … habit."

"Don't call women whores."

He made a face, the kind of face that sarcastically said "sure" and sat back in his chair. Before she could say anything else the heavy wooden door across from them opened.

"Isabella." A young girl with pink scrubs and a fresh face stood there, smiling wide with a clipboard in her hand.

Bella stood up and called for Addy to follow them as they walked back into a dimly lit hallway. Bella guessed this was supposed to feel more at home and calm, but in reality it just put her on edge. In her life, poorly lit areas were always to be left alone because you never wanted to find out what secrets they held. They stopped at a black door with a gold 3 hanging on the front and the nurse escorted them inside.

She sat herself on the exam table as the nurse took her vitals and asked a few mundane questions which Bella answered to the best of her abilities.

"The doctor will be in shortly." She smiled and disappeared behind the black door.

Edward was sitting in a chair across from her, but his frame was too long to sit comfortably. He had folded himself into it though and he had Addy on his lap. Before she could offer to take Addy so he could situate himself better the door opened again. A tall woman with a mane of blonde hair and bright, clear blue eyes walked in. She wore clothing that you could tell was expensive. Being a mob doctor pays well.

"Hi, Bella. I'm Kate, I'll be your doctor." She smiled and her face was friendly and open, something Bella hadn't experienced very often in her life.

"Nice to meet you." She returned the smile. If Bella had to guess her age, she'd assume she was in her 50's.

"Why don't you lie back and we'll get started."

Bella layed back on the sterile sheet that covered the bed, no flimsy paper here. Kate began by measuring her stomach and asked her how far along she thought she was.

"I thought I was only a few weeks along, maybe two months."

"I'd say you're a little further than that, but sometimes with your second pregnancy you can grow faster."

"This is my third, but the first didn't make it very far along."

Kate's blue eyes filled with empathy.

"That happens more than you know, I'm sure it was nothing you did."

Bella thought back to the Russian man kicking her repeatedly.

"So how far along do you think I am?" She decided to change the subject.

"I'd say at least five months."

"Five?" Bella's voice raised three octaves. "That's impossible."

"Let me see if I can find the baby on the external ultrasound and we'll know for sure." She smiled and patted her hand.

Kate pulled the ultrasound machine from the wall and woke the screen up before she pulled the gel from the warming holder. She tucked a towel into Bella's pants and lifted her shirt higher, then squirted the gel across her distended abdomen. She swiped the wand over her stomach a few times to spread the gel around and then started pressing as she looked at the screen.

Edward and Addy both had their eyes glued to the screen, but Bella could only focus on them.

They had the exact same eyes. While they shared the color of Bella's, the shape was all Edward. They had the same expressions, chin, nose, and jaw. They even had the same inflections in their voices when they spoke certain words. Addy was bilingual, fluent in English and Italian. Bella would often find her cursing in Italian with her hands buried in her hair as she tried and failed at something, just like her father.

"There's your baby." Kate smiled and Bella looked over at the monitor. There in black and white was the clear outline of a baby's profile. A tiny swooped nose and little lips, a tiny forehead and the outline of a fist up by their head.

"Whoa I can see it!" Addy exclaimed.

"Is it a sister or a brother?" She hopped off Edward's lap and walked over to stand on the stool that had helped Bella get on the bed.

"I'm not sure yet, we'll have to see if we can find out." Kate moved the wand around, taking measurements and checking the baby's development.

"Looks like their heart and brain are developing on track and I'd say by this baby's measurements you're definitely about 20 weeks along."

"But I just took a test two weeks ago. I thought I was maybe a month pregnant at the time. I just started showing."

"Every pregnancy is different. I'm sure your next one will be a lot different as well."

Bella let out a laugh.

"Oh God, the next one. This will be the last one."

Kate laughed and moved the wand towards the bottom of her stomach.

"I hear that a lot and then they're back in here a few months or years after they give birth."

"So, is it a boy or girl?" Addy asked again, irritation evident in her voice.

"Adriana Noelle." Edward's voice was stern and she quickly turned with a bright smile on her face to apologize. Bella watched as Edward smiled the same smile back at her and told her it was okay. Bella rolled her eyes and looked back at the screen. He was such a pushover.

"Adriana, what would you like? A brother or sister?" Kate asked as she looked at the little girl.

"A sister. My cousins are boys and they're all mean."

"Well it looks like we'll have to wait just a little longer because this baby is stubborn." Kate pulled the wand away and cleaned Bella's stomach off.

"We could do a blood test if you really want to find out." She offered, but Bella shook her head.

"I think we can wait." She looked at Edward for confirmation and he nodded.

"Yeah, I'm sure it's a boy anyway." He laughed.

"Hopefully I can tell you next time." Kate turned the monitor off and handed off print outs of the ultrasound.

Bella carried Addy out of the office towards the elevator, still reeling about how far along she was. She had assumed the doctor would say 12 weeks at most, but five entire months pregnant? How could that even be possible? That'd mean she would have gotten pregnant right before leaving DC. She thought back to her random hot flashes, the sporadic moments of crying, and Alice's dress that she had made for her. How tight it had been that Bella almost busted the zipper getting into it.

"You shouldn't be carrying her." Edward pulled Addy from Bella's arms and hoisted her up onto his hip.

"I'm fine, Edward. This kid has been chilling out inside of me through all of this. I doubt Addy will be the end." She had meant it as a light hearted joke, but the reality was that at any moment her baby's life could've ended. Like when Seth shot at her or the random gun fire that almost killed Edward.

The sun was still out in full force and Bella had to squint against the bright rays bouncing off the glass buildings around them. They turned to head back down the sidewalk towards their car when something caught Bella's attention.

"Edward." She took his hand and slowly walked down the sidewalk.

"Hmm?" He looked over to make sure she was okay and followed her line of sight towards a dark colored SUV.

"What is it?"

"See the SUV? There's an antenna on the back, four inches long. That's an FBI unmarked vehicle, Edward." She tried to move them further down the sidewalk in an attempt to keep suspicions at bay.

"Don't worry about it, babe. Another day, another investigation." He laughed and tossed his arm around her waist.

He tried to seem carefree, but Bella knew better. She could see the way his neck tensed and the slight edge in his voice.

He was worried.
