**IMPORTANT NOTE** Please listen to the song, "Your Hand in Mine by Explosions in the Sky". It was what inspired this chapter as well as many other things. If you can't find a way to download or listen to the song elsewhere while reading it then please be patient til you can; I worked hard to get it to sync with the song.

Kara laid in her aunt's field staring idly at the passing clouds in the sky, the soft yet constant moos of the cows around her blending in with the rustle of leaves in the trees and grass in the ground that sung with the passing breeze that went by; her mind everywhere but nowhere at once yet always going back to a certain dream that visited every night.

With a nod she jumped to her feet and ran to the house she grew up in and called home. Once inside she found her aunt typing on her laptop, concentrated on her work. With a deep breath she walked up to her and placed a gentle hand on her shoulder. When her aunt looked up to see what she needed her eyes widened some when she saw the serious expression on her face. Keeping her eyes on her aunt she pulled up a chair and sat down beside her; beginning to speak.

Each sentence that she spoke her aunt listened intently. Her brows lifted in surprise when her niece expressed her feelings. She bit her lip nervously yet deep in her mind knew this day would come. A sigh escaped her lips and she closed her eyes; giving her a nod for an answer.

Kara smiled excitedly and raced upstairs. She bursted through her door, pulling out her largest suitcase, beginning to pack. She grabbed bundles of clothes, bathroom necessities, and things she felt she would need during her journey all the while her aunt was speaking to her parents to make arrangements.

Hours passed and soon they arrived at the train station; Kara with two large suitcases and a carry-on backpack. Kara's eyes wandered the station while her aunt went to retrieve her ticket; watching a train arrive and people scramble off to go about their day as if it was an everyday thing. Feeling a hand on her should she jostled in surprise only to sigh in relief when it was her aunt.

Emma smiled down at her teenage niece while explaining what would happen and in doing so gazed at every detail from the way she had her hair always covering her left eye and her treasure of a black cap, the purple sweatshirt with a hoodie and skulls on the chest and stomach, the white tank top showing underneath, blue jean shorts that intentionally looked ripped around the rims, and the brown hiking boots she got for Christmas. Emma placed her hands on each side of Kara's head and pulled her close while taking her cap off and gave her a kiss on top of her head. She squeezed her eyes shut trying to force the tears in when she felt Kara's arms around her stomach and squeezed her tight. It was when Kara spoke three words that made the tears fall and pull her closer.

Hearing the intercom announce the arrival of her train and the sound of it's engine was when they both let go of each other. Emma placed the cap back on her head, both of them chuckling when Emma pulled down a little too tight to secure it.

The passengers were climbing on to the train one by one; Kara grabbing her things and running in line. Once her ticket was scanned and her luggage was put away she moved to the window and stared at her aunt.

The train horn blared and the engine began to rev, the train beginning it's departure. Kara waved excitedly to her aunt but as the train moved forward and picked up speed her excitement soon turned to a small wave goodbye not knowing how long it would be til they saw each other. Emma noticed her and gave her a grin that said, "Goodluck." Kara blinked but returned the grin all the same and gave one last wave til she was gone.

Through the whole trip Kara occupied herself from listening to her music, eating her snacks, talking to her parent's and aunt and describing the trip, or even talking amongst the other passengers; anything to pass the time. It had come down to where all she could do was watch the scenery pass by, leaning her head against the window, her eyes getting heavy.

She didn't know when she fell asleep for there was nothing but darkness around her. She turned here and there only to see nothing. It wasn't til she began to hear voices that she stopped, waited, and listened.

"Kara! Over here!" One voice shouted excitedly, squinting her eyes thinking she saw a low flash of orange.
"What're you doing just standing there? Come on!" Another called out but this time sounded more annoyed and it was red.
"We're gonna leave without you if you don't." This time joking and was a blue color.
"Not really. We'd never leave without you, Kara." A shy voice said with a purple tint.
"We'll be waitin' for ya, Kara." A girlish voice with an accent told her with a green color.
She went to run towards them and just when she thought she could see something she felt herself beginning to wake up.

Kara squirmed in her sleep, opening her eyes to the morning rays breaking through the tree leaves and into her eyes. She stirred awake, rubbing the sleepiness out of her eyes and gasped when the city came into view. She jumped to her seat, moving her face close to the window to get a better view.

Arriving at the New York station, she gathered her things and climbed out, looking around in excitement when she came upon a suited man holding a sign with her name on it. She went over to him and smiled when he began to explain who he was while taking her things and leading her to the car. He drove her to where she would be staying while she took in the city sights with awe when they stopped in front of a tall, fancy building with the hotel's name on it.

Taking her room key she took the elevator, watching the numbers change, her nervousness now kicking in til they arrived at the top floor; where she would be staying. The nervous feeling grew with every step til she opened the door and saw a hole house to herself.

She immediately dropped her things and ran to the balcony, opening the door and was greeted with the morning sun of New York City. Her eyes shined in excitement and she took in a deep breath as the city wind caressed her face in a warm welcome. She leaned over the railing with a huge grin on her face, a single tear sliding down her face.

"This is it, Kara. A new beginning."
