A/N: I only own the OC
Thank you for the reviews!
We landed in Vienna that afternoon and I was ready to get off the plane. I had slept most of the trip, thanks to Bucky being my pillow, but I was uncomfortable from sleeping like that. We were taken to the safe house, which was a flat that looking like barely anyone remembered it was for use, but it was still nicer than some of the safe houses I had used in the past.
"I'm starving." Sam said and I nodded in agreement as Bucky looking out over the small balcony.
"Let's get cleaned up and find something." Sam said and I nodded. I was glad there was at least 2 bathrooms. I showered, put on clean clothes, and felt so much better after I finished. I walked out to hear Sam talking to someone, and Bucky was still on the balcony, but in different clothes. I grabbed my stuff, and started for the door.
"Where are you going?" a voice asked me and I turned to see Bucky looking at me.
"I need to contact my contact." I said and he nodded, but looked a little down.
"Let me go send a message, and then we will grab food... or I can meet you guys somewhere." I said and he nodded as he walked towards me. He seemed torn at that moment.
"Be careful." he said and I nodded with a small smile.
"Bucky, we live in New York... this is fine." I said and he nodded as he shoved his hands in his pockets. I finally took in his appearance. He was in a Henley and Jeans... thankfully the Henley wasn't red. I left without another word and went to see about my contact. I also needed to clear my head and tell myself he wasn't like last time he was here.
Sam POV
I heard Sarah leave, and saw Bucky looking at the door. I knew that he hadn't put together what happened last time we were all in this city... or he didn't remember. I understood if he didn't want to remember. I know that most of us who were around that day want to forget.
"Where is she going?" I asked him and he looked back at me. He looked conflicted, and I had to stop myself from smirking... I thought he had feelings for her. He would never admit it, but it was there.
"Talk to her contact." he said and I nodded.
"Come on, let's get food." I said and he shrugged as he glanced at the door.
"Maybe we should just wait here for her." he said and I cross my arms over my chest as I looked at him.
"Bucky, do you like Sarah?" I finally asked him and his head shot up. He had a haunting look, but not quite one like when he was the Winter Soldier, but it was still unnerving. He shook his head and looked at the ground.
"She's a friend." he mumbled and I nodded. He was fighting more than one internal battle at the moment, and I had a feeling that he was loosing both. I had counseled many soldiers and he was no different as he processed whatever life this was for him now.
"It's fine if you do." I said as he moved towards the door and stopped before opening it. He looked at me and shook his head.
"People like me don't get that chance." he said and reached for the door again.
"Steve did." I said and he turned towards me in a flash. I wasn't sure what he was going to do. We didn't mention Steve because it was a sensitive subject for us on different levels.
"Steve wasn't like me. He was good, and deserved to be happy." he said before stomping out of the flat, and left me standing there shocked because that was the most emotion I had seen from Bucky in a long time. I realized right then that Bucky would never think of himself as the 'good guy'. He had a second chance and he felt that he would never deserve happiness in it. I wasn't sure who I felt for more... Sarah because of what he had done to her, or Bucky because he had no idea that Sarah might never feel that way about him.
Sarah POV
I went to the small cafe that I had asked them to meet me at, and waited. I was watching the street, and the people milling past as I took note of anyone that I deemed interesting. I waited an hour past the time I had asked them to come before I gave up. I was walking back through the maze of streets when a car pulled up and blocked my path. I quickly turned to go the other way, and stopped as someone came into my path. I was looking into the hardened eyes of Sharron Carter. She had been branded a traitor, and fled after helping Steve and Sam with Bucky.
"You are here." I said and she chuckled as she held out her hands as to show me she was real. We had been friends at one time, and now I wasn't sure if we were friends, enemies, or old coworkers.
"Why are you here?" she asked me.
"A mission." I said and she nodded. She got ready to say something when two men appeared out of the building to our side. The car door opened and another man stepped out. I wasn't liking our odds, but I had fought out of worse with her and Nat. Nat would have thrived in this moment. They were in typical henchmen clothing and holding knives... at least it wasn't guns. I had no idea who they were. I also had been out of the intel loop for longer than I would have liked at this moment.
"Friends of yours?" she asked me and I shook my head no as we started to move towards each other.
"You?" I asked her as they walked towards us.
"Nope." she said and I nodded as we started to take a defensive stand. We dispatched of them in short order, and only had minor wounds in the end. The black car was now speeding away from the men laying in the street. She motioned for me to follow her. I knew that questioning thing right now wouldn't actually get me anywhere. We made our way quickly through a few small streets before stopping in front of an unassuming older stone building. She punched in a code and motioned for me to follow her. I glanced around before walking up the stairs with her. We walked inside and I found myself in a large room filled with valuable artwork.
"Are you are broker now?" I asked her and she chuckled.
"The black market pays much better than the stars and stripes ever did." she said and I nodded. I knew that after what had happened to her she had a good reason to feel the way that she did towards everything. She offered me a beer and I toasted with her before taking a sip.
"So, want to tell me why you are in Vienna on a mission? I can't imagine it's just to catch up with me or something mundane like that." she said and I smirked.
"No, um... I'm here on a mission with Sam and Bucky." I said and she about dropped her beer as she looked at me.
"Bucky... is here... with you." she said and I nodded. I knew that she probably didn't have good feelings for him.
"Why are you here with him?" she asked me.
"I was assigned to him by the new Captain America for this mission." I said and she looked at me with more confusion.
"Same gave the shield up, and they put it on John Walker as the new Captain America." I said slowly because I knew she had obvious connections to Steve. I always thought that he would go after her once she had to run, but he went to Peggy instead. I guess that I couldn't blame him if that was his true love, but I felt for Sharron.
"Sam is a fucking moron." she said and I chuckled as she raised an eyebrow.
"A rare moment we all agree." I said and she actually smirked.
"So, do Sam and Bucky know I am here?" she asked me and I shook my head no.
"No, they don't... and I wasn't even sure if you actually were." I said and she nodded. I got ready to say something else when I got an SOS text from Sam and an address.
"I have to go." I said and she saw the message.
"Come on, just like old times." she said and I couldn't help but smirk... She was still the same Sharron I remembered.
A/N: What kind of trouble are they in now?
