Hallie (POV)

During the party we ate, drank and talked about how the trip was and what everyone had gotten up to while I was away. I showed everyone the photo album that I had made up with all the different pictures I had taken over the month.

While the photo album was being passed around Arthur brought up the topic that I was most dreading. "So Hallie have you made up your mind about what your going to be doing come September?"

I took a breath and mentally prepared myself for a very difficult conversation. " I have actually. I've decided to go back to school-"

"That's great Hallie. It'll be good for you to get some normality back into your life" Molly says unintentionally cutting me off

"Actually I wasn't finished. I've decided to go back to school but I wont be going back to Hogwarts"I explained

"What do you mean. Where will you be going then?" Hermione asks

"So long as my application is accepted I'm going to be going to the local high school in Mystic Falls as well as moving there"

I bit my lip slightly with the silence as everyone took in the news.

"So your moving over to Mystic Falls. Permanently?" Ron asks

I nod. "Yeah or at least semi permanent. I've been approved for a student visa starting from August and then sometime early next year i'll be applying for a green card which will give me the indefinite leave to remain"

Everyone nods. Molly still hadn't said anything which I was worried about. She had been like a mother to me from the moment I met her and I hated the idea of upsetting or disappointing her.

"Can I ask why. I understood that your trip to visit your family in Mystic Falls was supposed to give you some time and some space to deal with everything so I don't understand why you want to move out there permanently?" Molly asks

"While I was in Mystic Falls I realised that I am in desperate need of a fresh start. I hadn't realised just how much I needed to get away from England and the wizarding world. I can't handle the constant pressure of dealing with the press and worrying about what the public is saying or thinking about me. While I was in Mystic Falls I wasn't the girls who lived or the girl who defeated Voldemort, I was just a normal teenager" I said explaining everything hoping they wold understand

She nods and walked over to me pulling me into a hug." If it's really what you want then we support you. Just remember to keep in touch"

I gave her a hug back relieved that they were all supportive. "Thank you. It means so much to me that you understand. I was so worried that you would be upset or disappointed. When I decided to do this I knew that I would be letting people down. Now I know Professor McGonnagall will understand and quite frankly I couldn't care less about letting down the ministry but I hated the thought of letting you guys down"

I spent the next few weeks dealing with everything in Britain that needed my attention. The Weasley's, Hermione and my other friends that I kept in contact with on a regular basis such as Luna and Neville were given the address in Mystic Falls with Liz's permission and all other mail was going to be directed through a two way mail box. I had found a business in Diagon Alley called Hargrove's Postal Services which acted in a similar manner to muggle post offices. It was set up so any mail sent to me from places such as Gringotts, the Ministry etc would be sent to sent to the business and would be placed in my post box. It would then magically be sent to the corresponding box that I kept. It worked both ways in that if I needed to send a reply to something all I needed to do was place the letter in the Out tray of the box and it would arrive in the box at Hargrove's. It would make dealing with letters while in the States so much quicker and easier.

I found that the closest wizarding centre to me was in New York and thankfully being able to apparate made things easier and I planned to go to the wizarding centre once a month or so depending on what I had going on. I transferred the money that was left in my trust fund along with a quarter of the money from the Potter Vault to the Gringotts branch in New York and Liz had set up a muggle bank account on my behalf over in Virginia. I packed everything up that I wanted to take with me to Mystic Falls and was going to use magic to ship it over as I was using magical transport this time when I went back over.

I had planned to go back on the 1st of August so that I could celebrate my birthday with the Weasley's and everyone else before leaving and would have a late birthday celebration when I arrived back in Mystic Falls. Most of the party had been fairly emotional but thankfully uneventful. Towards the end of the night George wanted to talk in private so we headed outside. It had been a while since George and I had spent any proper time alone. In the first few days after the battle George and I had been each others rocks. Obviously everyone in the family had been devastated but for George and I the loss hit differently and we had been essential in helping the other through the first few days. George was the only one that knew that Fred had proposed and had kept his promise that he wouldn't tell anyone until I was ready.

I took a breath and glanced at him after a minute or two of initial silence. "So what did you want to talk about?"

"I just wanted to make sure your doing okay. I can tell that putting up a front to hide how your really feeling and I want you to know that you don't have to. Not around any of us but especially me "He says gently

"I know I don't. I just feel selfish burdening everyone with my feelings. It doesn't feel fair. We all lost someone we loved not just me" I say sitting down on the garden wall.

"You know everyone would understand. Especially if you told them the truth" He says

"I'm not ready for them to know. If people knew they would treat me differently. They would pity me and I don't think I could handle that. I'm doing everything I can to put on a brave face and not fall apart, if people started pitying me that would be the last straw. I think I would fully break" I sighed

"Is that why your moving to Mystic Falls?" He asks

"Partially. I do need a fresh start and this is part of that. I need to be able to grieve and move on in my own time and unfortunately I can't do that here" I sighed wiping away a few tears that had started to fall

George came over and sat next to me on the wall putting his arm around me and pulling me into a side hug. "I understand Hallie. You don't have to explain yourself to me"

We stayed like that for sometime before eventually heading back inside to enjoy the last of the party before i headed home when it got late.

The next morning I packed away the final few things away and because of the time differences I was sending my things over which would appear in my room and I was taking an international portkey to New York a little bit later on to have a look around the wizarding centre as well as muggle New York before apparating to Mystic Falls. At approximately two in the afternoon I took the Portkey to one of the rooms in the American Ministry which was the designated Portkey arrivals room.

I headed out of the Ministry building and into the Wizarding centre to get an idea of what shops they had and generally just explore. It was nice to be able to walk through a decently busy wizarding centre and not be instantly recognised and mobbed by public and press alike. There was the odd person or two that knew who I was and came up to talk to me but I was mostly left alone. I didn't know whether people didn't know who I was or if they did and simply weren't bothered but I liked it.

I headed into muggle New York about 2 hours later and once I got my initial bearings I found that I wasn't far from one if the entrances to Central Park so I headed into the park and took a seat on a park bench to go through the checklist of things that I wanted to do the most. I had put about 5 things on the list and I hoped to get as many of them done in the short time I was going to be here.

I spent a few hours doing a mixture of exploring, sightseeing and shopping. It was about for o'clock when I finished and decided to apparate to Liz's house. This was the first time apparating there so I headed to the ministry building where there was a designated apparition point and concentrated on my room to make sure that nothing went wrong.

Once I arrived I made a start on putting away my things. I started with what I had bought before moving on to my things that I had sent over this morning. I was about halfway through when both Caroline and Liz arrived back as they had both been out,Liz at work and Caroline out with Elena and Bonnie.

"Hey"I said coming down the stairs with a smile

"Hey when did you get back?" Caroline asks giving me a hug

"About an hour ago. I did some exploring and shopping in New York before coming here" I explained hugging her back before giving Liz one.

"Why didn't you text one of us. We could have come back earlier?" She says

"I meant to. I started unpacking my things and got side-tracked" I said

Liz nods. "Well now were back we can give you a hand with the rest of your stuff if you want"

I smile." If you want to I don't mind. I'm about halfway done"

"Yeah we can give you a hand. That way we can be done quicker so we can get ready for tonight" Caroline says with a smile

I look at her confused as the three of us headed upstairs. "What's happening tonight?"

"Your party duh" She says

"I thought we were celebrating tomorrow?"

"Tomorrow is when me ,you and mum are celebrating as mum has the day off. Tonight is your party at the grill "She says

The three of spent the next hour finishing putting the rest of my stuff away and then Caroline and I started to get ready for the party. Caroline insisted that I wore one of the outfits that I had bought while shopping in New York and I let her borrow one of the dresses I had bought. We headed out after getting ready and met up with Bonnie and Elena before heading to the grill. I didn't know most of the people at the party but Caroline introduced me to a few people and I learned that they were all juniors/seniors at Mystic Falls high. Even though I wasn't the most sociable person it was good to meet a few people who I would be going to school with come September.
