A/N: Sorry this chapter is mostly dialogue heavy. I'm starting to run out of ideas with this, so I'm thinking the story will be completed soon. Next chapter, things will be a lot more…interesting I should say.
The rest of the second trimester has surprisingly been uneventful, with the exception on the usual symptoms. Cosmo hadn't heard much from his parents since he had last called his father, and he felt himself almost as cheery as his usual self. He was having a baby girl, just like he wanted, after all!
"A girl Wanda! Can you believe it? A baby girl!", he sighed, tearing up slightly as he rubbed his belly, now more attached than ever. Wanda smiled and kissed him on the cheek.
"Yes dear, we've known for several weeks now."
"Ooh, what are you thinking for a name? I'm still leaning towards Philipp."
"Sweetie, Philipp is a boy's name.", Wanda said, shaking her head.
"B-But my dad's name is Linnie, and that's a girls na-"
"We're not naming the baby Philipp, Cosmo. Hate to break the news to you.", Wanda said in a playfully annoyed tone, "We'll think of something soon sweetheart, I promise. But right now, I got to get ready to have lunch with my dad."
"Really? He's not working?"
"It's his lunch break right now, and we said we'd catch up while we were dealing with the baby's room. Besides, I figured I'd give you some peace and quiet for a little while before you enter the third month."
"B-But I like having you here!"
"I won't be long, I promise.", Wanda said, before making her way towards her bathroom to take a shower, "We're just gonna go get lunch at the Italian place that opened up not too long ago. It'll probably take about an hour and a half tops."
"Oh. Ok then. You should go have fun then. It's been a while since we've had some piece and quiet."
"Yeah, tell me about it."
Cosmo got back to watching the television as Wanda got ready, kissing him goodbye at the commercial break. He slouched a bit, smiling at his stomach as he rubbed it gently.
I don't care what Wanda says. I think you'd make a pretty good Philipp.
A few minutes later however, Cosmo's cell phone rang, snapping him out of his fantasies and making him feel a bit nervous. But as he picked up his phone, the Caller ID showed Chelsea's phone number, which made him sigh in relief. He really didn't want to talk to his mother right now.
"Hello?"
"Hey Cosmo, what's happening?", Chelsea's voice rang, "Are you busy right now."
"No, not really. Wanda went to see her dad and I'm just here watching TV."
"Cool cool. Well, I actually was calling to see if you wanted to hang out for a bit? You know, get some lunch? Figured it'd give us time to chill and catch up."
"Is Garett with you?"
"No, it'll be just you and me. I was thinking at the Fairy Rock Café downtown? What do you think?"
"Uh, I guess so. I am starting to get hungry again, anyways."
"Cool. Don't poof though. I'm coming to pick you up. I'm already on my way."
"Wouldn't poofing be easier though?"
"Not when you're pregnant. Don't want to take any chances.", Chelsea said. Cosmo could hear her radio blast rock music in he backroom, "I'm almost there. Meet me out front."
After handing up the phone, Cosmo turned off the tv and grabbed his house keys and wand, locking the door behind him as his sister's truck pulled up. It was similar to what his mother's truck looked like when he was a child, but it was a black color instead of a teal, and has some green flames painted on the sides. Cosmo smirked as he climbed into the passenger's seat, where his sister, a fairy with straight green hair and aqua eyes sat. Her bangs were brushed back to where it was flipped, and she wore a green t shirt with ripped black jeans.
"Cool truck sis.", Cosmo said, looking at Chelsea with the smirk still on his face. "Isn't this the truck you said you wanted as a kid?"
"Yeah. Mama would murder me if she ever saw me drive this bad boy.", Chelsea laughed, "And dad would probably be freaking out, asking if it was safe to drive and making sure the seatbelts wormed properly."
"Haha yeah. I can see that." Cosmo laughed slighty as they drove on the pink, dusty road. "Not that I'm not glad to see you, but I'm surprised you're in town. I thought you had a gig coming up or something."
"Eh, it got cancelled. That's the 4th damn time in a row too.", Chelsea groaned, "I came to town because I wanted to visit Schnozmo for a few minutes. Check on him."
"How is he?"
"Not very well. When I came for visiting hours, his face was all bruised. You know that big ass nose he has on his face?"
"Yeah?"
"It's all scarred and effed up. Apparently, he tried to pick pocket an inmate's gold chain like the dumbass he is.", Chelsea said, rolling her eyes, "I swear, he never learns."
"Sounds about right.", Cosmo sighed, "I miss him though. I wish he didn't blow all his money on that stupid casino."
"Yeah but what can we do? We can't change the past, Cosmo. We can only remind him of what an idiot he is for getting caught once he gets out.", Chelsea said, though a small smirk was on her face, "How are things on your end?"
"Eh..not bad. Well, things are getting better now, but before that, I've been really stressed out."
"Oh, I'm sure. What with the baby and having to plan and get ready constantly.", Chelsea said, now parking the truck in front of the café.
"Yeah. Things have been really crazy lately.", Cosmo said, before Chelsea came over to his side and helped him down, having Cosmo hold his belly before stepping down, holding his left hand. She also held the door for him as they walked inside, the loud music almost giving Cosmo a headache.
"Table for 2?", the waiter, wearing a black t-shirt with matching shoes, blue jeans, and a white apron asked at the front desk, "Cool. This way."
The two made their way to a booth that the waiter lead them towards, with Chelsea ordering a BLT with fries, and Cosmo asking for the largest sliders they had, following several extra sides.
"Dang. You must be hungry. You not eating enough at home?", Chelsea teased, "That baby gonna be a hot dog eating champion some day."
"Haha yeah. I've been eating a lot more than usual.", Cosmo said, "Last night, I woke Wanda up to go get me some UberEats. After wards, she even drove up to the pharmacy and got us some chocolate, pickles, and ice cream since I was craving sweet stuff and pickles at the same time. Man, I don't deserve her."
"Hey, she loves you man. That's what happens when you pick the right now."
"Wow, I'm glad at least someone in my family approves", Cosmo groaned, making Chelsea frown.
"Speaking of, how'd you talk with mama go? What'd she say?"
"Uh..not well. Sorry Chelsea. She started yelling about how the way we turned out was dad's fault"
"Wow..color me shocked.", Chelsea snarked, rolling her aqua eyes, "Asking her to take responsibility for her own actions? Why that's just too damn much."
"Yeah. I had a meltdown when she made me tell dad about Schnozmo going to jail.", Cosmo sighed, "He didn't take it well either."
"How's he doing? I need to call him actually. I've been so busy trying to get my shit together than I hadn't had much time to talk to him."
"Eh..the same he always does. He says he misses you, by the way. I think he's worried about you since you hadn't called."
"Yeah..but I don't want to come crawling back home. I don't' want what mama said about me coming true."
"What was that, again?"
"That I would come crawling home to mommy and daddy because I couldn't make a career out of myself.", Chelsea mocked, "Honestly, she shouldn't of had kids."
"Well, I've also been worried about another thing.", Cosmo started, "I've been thinking about the way mama treated us as kids, and I don't want that for my baby. Bb-but what if I do end up like her? What if I drive my baby away because we don't agree? I don't know but I can't help but wonder if I'll make the same mistakes as her."
"No, I honestly don't see that. You'll make mistakes for sure, but mama knew perfectly well what she was doing. You don't become an alcoholic by accident, Cosmo. Mama chose to put her addictions and job before the family she also chose to have. ", Chelsea said, after the food had finally been delivered, "We were treated the way we were because mama is selfish. Something that clearly hadn't passed down to you. Schnozmo and I maybe, but you…you're so much more like dad. I envy you to be quite honest with you."
"Really? I thought you were mad at him?"
"I'm upset because it seems like he was just as powerless as we were. But I thought about it for a while after I realized that I hadn't called him. What I thought was anger towards him was really just being tired and frustrated thinking about how we grew up."
"Yeah, I guess that's fair.", Cosmo said, dipping a fry in ketchup before dipping it in ranch on top of it, much to Chelsea's mild disgusted face, "Sometimes I wish we could have done something, though."
"I don't know if there was much we could do. Mama wouldn't stop screaming and yelling, and dad just wouldn't leave her. I've never found out why but I've always asked myself whenever I think about you guys.", Chelsea said, "Speaking of dad, what'd he think about you getting knocked up?"
"He actually seemed really excited and happy up until mama brought up the cheating idea.", Cosmo said, "The other day, he showed up with several bags of baby stuff. Man, I think he tried to buy out the store or something."
"Oh man, mama is not gonna be happy with him.", Chelsea laughed, "But I'm glad he's happy about it."
"Yeah. He even begged me to let him babysit if Wanda and I went out or something."
"Nice.", Chelsea nodded, finished up her plate, "Don't suppose you got names picked out, yet?"
"No. I've had ideas but Wanda kinda shut them out. I'd tell you but I'm supposed to wait until the baby shower. Wanda's ordered a gender reveal cake."
"Ooh fancy.", Chelsea teased playfully, "When's the shower?"
"We sent out invitations yesterday, so it should come in the mail soon, unless I screwed up the spelling, again. Wouldn't be the first time."
"Well, I'll see what I can find for a gift. I'll headed home after lunch but I'll be back once you let me know when the party's starting.", Chelsea said, getting up from the table with Cosmo following suit. The two siblings chatted for a little while as Chelsea drove Cosmo home, with Cosmo trying to hold back and not reveal the gender prematurely. After they arrived at the house, they both hugged, and Cosmo allowed Chelsea to feel the bump before she left.
"Hey little rock star. It's Aunt Chelsea.", she said, rubbing his belly back and forth, trying to get the baby to kick. "You're gonna have the coolest aunt in the world! Yeah you are!"
"Alright Chelse, you sound like dad now.", Cosmo blushed, though laughing slightly, "He wouldn't stop squealing when we went to lunch."
"Ok ok. I've got to go anyways.", Chelsea said, before headed towards her truck, "I'll see you two later. Let me know what time you want me there."
