Chelsea shifted uncomfortably as her father continued to hug her, his normally gentle grasp now squeezing her. She wasn't sure if he was planning to let go anytime soon.

"Uh..yeah..you too dad.", she said, somehow managing to pry herself off of him. Papa Cosmo looked at her and gave her a sad smile.

"How have you been? Cosmo told me you weren't doing so well financially.", he asked.

"Gee..thanks Cosmo.", Chelsea sneered, glaring at Cosmo who pretended he was busy with something else, "No. I'm fine dad. Don't worry about me. My work's been kind of hard lately but I'm sure I'll make it through ok."

"Well, if you ever need a place to stay, you can always stay with me."

"Depends. Do you still live with Mama?"

"Yes dear."

"Then I'll pass. I'd rather live on the streets than listen to Mama tear into me about how I'll never make it in life.", Chelsea said, receiving a frown from her father, "If it were just you, then it' d be different. I just don't feel comfortable at your place right now."

"I understand. I can't blame you darling. Things haven't gotten much better since you left home anyways. I'm sure you can already guess out how given our history as a family", he whimpered, "If only she kept more of an open mind, then maybe you wouldn't be struggling as much."

"Yeah well. It is what it is right now, dad. I've made my choices and now I got to live with the consequences."

"I-I know. I just wish I could help."

"I don't need help. I'll be ok. I swear.", Chelsea sighed, "You don't have to worry about me all the time. I'm grown now. I can take care of myself."

"But it's my job to worry about you. You might be on your own but I'm still your father. A-and a father's supposed to love and care for his kids, even if they're grown.", Papa Cosmo said, pulling Chelsea back into a hug, "I'm always here for you, sweetheart. You can ask me for help if you need it, alright?"

Hearing his father say that, Cosmo felt a bit warmer as he sat down for the first time this morning. As he grew up, he had promised himself that while he wasn't smart enough to be the world's greatest parent, he'd try his hardest not to end up like his parents. He didn't want his soon to be born daughter to have the same childhood he did. He felt himself tear up slightly just thinking about his own childhood, and how he'd let himself get so angry he'd beat his wife and kids just like his mother did to them.

Cosmo wasn't allowed much time to venture into his thoughts. The doorbell rung once more, and was about to get up and grab it before Wanda stopped him.

"I'll get it honey. You just relax.", she said. She opened the door to reveal her mother, with her face done up with make up and her purple hair curled, as if she were about to go clubbing. She wore her black party dress and carried several large plastic bags that said Star Liquor in black, bold letters. Wanda noticed it almost immediately and frowned.

"What's with all the liquor? This is a baby shower, not a bachelorette party.", she complained, allowing her mother inside.

"Oh, quit with the ungrateful attitude! I just wanted to bring some drinks for the party! Is that so bad?"

"No, if we were out clubbing. We got fruit punch and water set up in the kitchen.", Wanda sighed, "But fine. At least you're hear. Just put them in the fridge or something and take them home when you get back. Cosmo and I don't really drink hard liquors."

Mrs. Fairywinkle rolled her eyes as she made her way into the kitchen, ignoring Papa Cosmo's uncomfortable squirms as he saw the bottles. Wanda looked outside the window next to the door in hopes her father showed up but didn't see anyone with her.

"Mom? Is daddy coming?"

"He didn't tell you at lunch? He said he had a business meeting that day. That's why he invited you to lunch instead.", his mother said, opening a bottle of Honeywood whiskey, pouring them into several plastic cups from the table.

"B-but this was supposed to be a family event. Why couldn't he have rescheduled it?"

"I don't know, Wanda. I don't handle your father's business.", her mother said, handing her a cup, "He might show up if he gets out early, but I wouldn't get your hopes up, baby."

Wanda sighed heavily as she took the cup, not wanting to argue much further. She rubbed her temples as she took a larger sip than what she was used too, almost hacking it out. But before she could escape for much further, she heard the doorbell ring once more. Not wanting Cosmo to get up from his seat, she made her way back to the front door, where Mama Cosma stood with a somewhat glazed but not completely trashed look on her face.

"Well well..didn't know my son decided to start raising pigs.", she snarked, a small smirk on her face. Wanda rolled her eyes as she let her in, fighting the temptation not to smack her across the back of her head. As soon as she made her grand entrance, the tension in the living room seemed to quadruple, as Cosmo, his father, and sister sat there, trying to avoid her glance. The only one that didn't seem to bat an eye was Mrs. Fairywinkle, who was too busy trying to bartend the dining table.

"Oh! Looks like it's not just pink pigs he's raising as well.", Mama Cosma snarled, floating near Chelsea, "How's that music career of yours going, Chelsea? What, are you too successful that you can't give your own mother a call every once in a blue moon?"

"Uh..yeah. M-my producers..uh..don't let me use my cell phone while I'm on stage!", Chelsea lied, trying to avoid her mother's glance, "They're pretty strict about that."

"Oh bullshit. Don't give me that now. I know about you trying to bail Schnozmo out."

"And why shouldn't I? He's your son and my brother! He's still family."

"I don't care if he's the king of Fairy World! I don't cater to thieves and criminals.", Mama Cosma shouted, "Now, answer my question and tell me the truth! Why haven't you called for the last 10 years? Did it not come across your mind to check up on me every once in a while?"

"H-Honey please. She's just-", Papa Cosmo stuttered before Mama Cosma snapped her face at him.

"And who the fuck said you could talk?"

"P-please don't swear in front of the baby."

"The baby's not even born yet, you imbecile!"

"Mama, enough! Don't talk to dad like that!", Cosmo yelled, standing up, "Look, if you and Chelsea are gonna fight, at least wait until the party's over. This isn't the time or the place! Today's not about you!"

Mama Cosma huffed as she made her way into the kitchen, grabbing one of the whiskey cups Mrs. Fairywinkle was offering to everyone. Everyone was silent for a few minutes, awkward coughs and sips occasionally breaking the silence. Wanda sipped her whiskey a bit longer than the last, tempted to kick Mama Cosma out and leave it at that. But she also didn't want Cosmo to feel like she was missing out. Not to mention, what she could do if Wanda did kick her out.

"W-well then..why don't we get started with cake, since I don't think anyone else is coming.", Cosmo said, standing up, "You're probably all dying to find out what it is."

"Pssh..as long as it's not a girl like your so-called wife, I'm happy-"

"Anyways, follow me into the kitchen!", Cosmo yelled, making sure his mom was cut off. He waited until everyone surrounded the table where the white cake was centered, Papa Cosmo and Wanda the only ones who looked at least a little bit interested. "W-we found out a couple of weeks ago and wanted to wait until today to tell everyone. The pink is for a boy, and the blue is for a girl."

Cosmo nervously positioned the knife to cut the first piece of the cake, unsure of what everyone's response would be. The knife cut through and Cosmo pulled out the piece, revealing the blue sponge surrounding the white frosting that surrounded. He heard his father squeak in excitement but not much more than that.

"Aww..it's a little girl! Congratulations!"

"Heh..figures. The Fairywinkle family's been known to having girls. Good job, Wanda.", Mrs. Fairywinkle said, nudging Wanda on the shoulder.

"Yeah..thanks ma.". Wanda slurred, taking a seat on the table to grab her balance.

"Did it have to be a girl? Seriously?", Mama Cosma groaned, allowing Mrs. Fairywinkle to pour her another drink, "Oh well. Maybe this will be the first girl that'll turn out right for a change."

"What's that supposed to mean, Nora?", Wanda snapped, making Cosmo nervous as he sat beside her.

"Don't call me by my first name! See, that's what's wrong with your generation! You have no respect for us elders, and now you're gonna pass it on to your children."

"You're barely 60. Hardly old enough to be considered an elder."

"Still, I'm older than you, so you need to learn to treat me with respect.", she snapped, snatching the knife and grabbing a piece for herself.

"M-mama? Can we just relax and have a good time? Parties are supposed to be fun.", Cosmo whined, tears threatening to spill from his eyes as his face flushed, "If you didn't want to be here, then why did you come?"

"Originally, to make sure your father didn't pull anything stupid while he was over here. I'm pretty sure that's where you go your brains from, Cosmo."

"But he's a grown man. You don't have to keep him under ball and chain.", Chelsea said, now taking a liking to the whiskey herself, "You know, you could be going out and doing things you like instead of making everyone miserable here."

"Well, excuse me for wanting to be there for a family! Maybe you should try it sometime, Chelsea."

"Alright, enough!", Wanda yelled, "If you don't want to be here then you are more than welcome to leave, Nora, but I will not continue to let you talk shit and disrespect me and Cosmo in our own home. "

Mama Cosma cursed under her breathe as she and the rest of the family finished their plates of cake; most of the women now at least somewhat buzzed from Mrs. Fairywinkle's whiskey. Cosmo watched Wanda with concern as she took another swig of her drink, almost reminding him of how Mama Cosma would slurp a glass in front of the tv after dinner, while Papa Cosmo cleaned up.

"Uhm sweetheart? Maybe you should slow down? I think you're drinking it too fast.", Cosmo said, putting his hand of Wanda's shoulders.

"I-I'm fine, Cosmo. I promise I'll be ok."

"Well, at least have some water if you're gonna drink.", Cosmo asked, looking almost as uncomfortable as his father, who'd barely even look at anyone at the table, "Dad? You want something to drink?"

"I..N-no thank you, darling. I don't drink."

"Some water then?"

"No it's ok."

After the cake had finally been eaten, the family returned to the living room, where Mrs. Fairlywinkle (the only one still in a good mood) kept pouring drinks as if it were their last day alive. Despite the inappropriate welcome, Wanda had to admit the whiskey made dealing with Mama Cosma a bit easier. As the family continued to talk, insult one another, and sweat, Wanda almost stopped using her filter all together. Every time Mama Cosma said something Wanda didn't like, Wanda would snap back, resulting in a mini argument, making Cosmo's headache grow worse and worse.

An hour had gone by since they had cake, gifts for the baby were finally being opened. Cosmo sat down on the couch as Wanda sloppily passed each package over to Cosmo, wobbling before she sat down. Cosmo looked at Wanda with a mild, worried look on his face, before opening the first package from Chelsea.

"Wow! A little Killer Fairies t-shirt! And a matching beanie! Thanks!", Cosmo said, making Chelsea smile slightly.

"Well, we gotta get the kid some merch before she sees any of her aunt's shows!"

"Oh please! Like you're gonna have anymore!", Mama Cosma snarled, rolling her eyes, "Besides, it's too early to be dressing the baby like one of those punk teenagers you see on the streets."

"Pssh. Says you, old lady."

"Excuse me?!"

"C-Cosmo! Open mine!", Papa Cosmo cut in, "I-I know I've already brough some things but I figured this would be perfect for the baby." Cosmo opened the package to find a green spotted blanket with a plush, matching giraffe attached. "I know I already got her a blanket, but I just saw this and thought it was absolutely adorable. Plus, you can wrap her with it if she gets scared at night and gets upset. O-oh, I also got you some formula for the baby. It's with the rest of the stuff I brought. You can open them later if you'd like."

"Uh..thanks dad.", Cosmo said, folding the blanket and setting it down next to him. He looked over at his mother expectantly, only to receive a huff and a cold shoulder in return. He wasn't really sure why he expected any different. Additionally, Mrs. Fairywinkle didn't have much for Cosmo or the baby either, but instead pulled out what looked like a can opener our of her purse.

"Here, Wanda. Just in case the baby starts raising hell and you want a break.", she laughed, handing it to Wanda. "It's so opening beer and wine bottles get easier. I had some problems with the one you already had. Big Daddy's sending his gift in the mail later, by the way."

"Yeah thanks mom. I'll keep that in mind."

"God Linnie, don't you know anything about fucking budgeting?", Mama Cosmo growled, looking at the bags he brought, "What'd you do? Buy the whole store? You do realize that's the money that I earn to keep a roof over our heads? Do you want us to be homeless?"

"I..uh..", Papa Cosmo stammered, squirming in his seat, "I know..I-I'll pay you back honey. I promise. I just wanted to help with the baby."

"Why? She's not our kid? She's not our responsibility! We..or should I say you..failed your job as a parent years ago! It's too late to take back what's already happened. Why do you keep wasting my money on all this stuff the baby won't even remember having 10 years from now?"

"W-what do you mean she's not our kid, Nora? She's our grandchild!", he squeaked, with a smack on his face not too long after.

"Oh, don't give me backtalk! You know what I meant. Why are you blowing MY money on baby supplies that Cosmo and his pig wife are perfectly capable of buying themselves?"

"Excuse me? Pig?", Wanda asked angrily, "If anyone's the pig here, it's you for the way you've acted all evening."

The rest of the shower were immensely uncomfortable for the entire party. Mama Cosma and Wanda continued to get into small argument fits while Mrs. Fairywinkle finished off the whiskey she brought, barely able to stand upright anymore. Cosmo sighed watching his mother-in-law struggle to even try to sit upright. He really didn't want to have to call Big Daddy to pick her up, given their not so pleasant history with each other, but he also didn't want his wife's mother to poof herself home drunk.

He almost wished he never said anything about the baby to any of his family. Them not being there at all would have been better than watch them all treat each other like trash. Man, why did he have to have such a big fat mouth?

"Cosmo honey?", Papa Cosmo spoke up, grabbing Cosmo's attention, "Have you put any thought into a babysitter yet?"

"W-what? Oh, no I hadn't. That hadn't even crossed my mind."

"Well, if you want, I can babysit her for you. I don't know if you remember, but I asked if I could babysit while you were having lunch with me and your mom."

"I don't know dad. I mean, I don't really want the baby coming over to your place.", Cosmo said, seeing his father frown sadly, "I-I mean you can come over when Mama's at work, but I don't want her over there. To be honest, I don't trust Mama around her and I-I don't know..I just don't think it'd be the best situation. I mean, you don't even stand up to Mama. How would the baby be safe at your place?"

"W-Well we could hide away from her. O-Or try to get her to go out for the evening. I…"

"I don't know dad, but I don't think I want my baby at a place where her safety is at risk.", Cosmo said, "Look, if you want to come over and watch her for a few hours, then fine. But otherwise, we're probably going to have to hire one, if Wanda and I even go out at all, other than work. More than likely, we'll either bring the baby or one of us will stay."

"O-Oh. Uhm..well it's your decision. I guess..", Papa Cosmo said, starting to cry a bit, "I'm sorry. I was just really looking forward to seeing and bonding with the baby."

"Honestly dad,", Chelsea spoke up now, a disappointed look on her face, "You have to admit that it's the safer option. At what point do you stop running away from Mama and defend the family you claim you care so much for? And it's not like Cosmo said you couldn't see her at all. Don't make him feel worse than he already does."

"I-I know sweetheart. You're right. It's just so hard.."

Chelsea hugged him as Papa Cosmo began to break down, Cosmo almost wanting to do the same. Calling this baby shower a disaster would be a massive understatement, and all Cosmo wanted to do now was go to bed with a jar of vanilla ice cream in one hand and Philip the nickel in another. It seemed like anything involving his parents and his wife's family, they could never catch a break. Conflict attracted to the two families like a magnet, and Cosmo was really sick and tired of it.

Before Cosmo could even further think about relaxing, there was a large CRASH from the coffee table, with Wanda and Mama Cosma at each other's throats. They were cursing and screaming at each other in the process, Mama Cosma physically having the upper hand in the fight. Mrs. Fairywinkle started chanting in the back while Cosmo and Chelsea rushed over to separate the two, to hardly any avail.

Though she was still aiming for Wanda, Mama Cosma managed to punch Cosmo's right air and send Chelsea to the floor, now trying to suffocate Wanda in the process. The screaming continued as Cosmo tried to get her off his wife, pushing her backwards as she landed on his baby bump, briefly.

"Ow! Mama! Get off my baby!", he yelled, before she turned around and smacked him in the face.

"Don't you speak to your mother like that!", she screamed before turning back to Wanda, both their faces scarred and bruised slightly, "and don't you EVER call me a bitch again! You don't know who you're dealing with, missy!"

"Oh, I know exactly who I'm dealing with, a bi-"

Mama Cosma lunged forward, crashing into the wall as Wanda dodged out of the way. Cosmo exploded into tears as the two women kept arguing and fighting, nearly breaking the kitchen table in the process. As the two women kept fighting, yelling, and screaming, there was a loud bang at the door, following a loud, booming voice.

"This is the police! Everyone come outside right now! You are all officially shut down!"
