To the promised planet

Chapter8: Traitor

。。。。。。。。

It was the same sight Soyo had seen when he fired a bullet at her. But this time it's not the same. This time, there was no Okita to help and her legs didn't shake that she couldn't stand.

Soyo slowly walked to the person standing and looked up to meet blue eyes.

Her pale white face made the demon want to stain it.

A thick hand touched that face. Bright red stained on smooth cheek like a white canvas with a picture of Higanbana flower[1] on it

"What did you do?" Soyo asked tonelessly.

Kamui stared at the empty eyes of the girl in front of him. "As you can see, I killed these people"

It's over. She really shouldn't trust anyone.

"Why are you doing this to me? Why did you betray me? I...trusted you."

"You know what I can do from the beginning."

Sayo closed her eyes and when she opened them again, they are as calm as a still pond.

"Then kill me."

she is not afraid to die. Not since when her brother was no longer here. But the fear she felt now and before, she didn't know where it came from.

She's just... just...

"You are those who killed My brother. I never forget that fact." And now he would have killed her as well.

"Finish the thing you haven't done that day on the ship."

"Don't be full of yourself, princess. You weren't even in my sight back then." challenge him like this... "You think I couldn't do it?"

"You think I'm scared?"

Kamui narrowed his eyes, his blood-stained hands still hadn't moved from her face.

"I thought you're my friends, but you-" Soyo bit her lips tightly.

She was just… afraid that everything was just a lie.

"Friend?" Kamui chuckled. "Don't make me laugh."

"Princess, me and you can never be friends. We are too different."

"Is everything… just a lie?"

Kamui sighed. "But before talking about friendship. You should take a good look at who these people are."

She reluctantly shifted her gaze to the ground and saw that the surrounding figure was not Oniwaban. The clothes may look similar, but it's not exactly the same.

These people must be Shinobi sent by Nobunobu, in order to kill her and blame Oniwabang as the scapegoat.

"Then why did you come here?!"

Why didn't he just let her die? Says one thing and does another. It made her felt agitated in her chest.

"You already got what you want then why are you coming back to me?"

But only silence answered.

Soyo didn't understand. She didn't understand what Kamui wanted. Even though he wasn't smiling like always now, she still couldn't guess his true feelings.

The look in his eyes now was like Kagura's… The sadness inside was reflected.

But maybe she's just imagining things. Maybe it was because she saw her own eyes reflected from his.

"If you didn't see me as a friend, then why are you here?" Her voice trembled slightly.

'Why did he come here?' Kamui didn't know the answer.

He got the ship as agreed with Nobunobu. He could drive it and run away, but he didn't.

Killing and death for Kamui were nothing. He had gone through many battlefields and uncountable corpses. But now he just felt like he didn't want to step over this brat's corpse.

"Do you feel guilty?"

"..."

"But even you feel guilty, Aniue-sama will never come back."

Soyo knew that Kamui wasn't the one who killed her brother, but she didn't know who else to put her lingering hatred on besides the Yato, who was once had the intention to kill her brother.

"I can't forgive you, never."

"Then kill me."

Kamui picked up a Kunai from the floor, put it in the princess's hand, and pulled it to his neck. Both of her hands clenched as his large hand tried to hold them, trying not to make her hands shook.

The sharp tip pierces the skin. The Yato's blood slowly flowed out. And it certainly wasn't the force from Kamui's hand.

The blood seemed to flow more and more. But Kamui didn't dodge or show the slightest pain.

Her heart was pounding. And for a nanosecond before Kunai's spiky tip plunged deeper than before. She heard a voice in her head.

'Soyo'

A voice that she shouldn't have heard again... Her brother's voice.

Soyo pulled her hand back and threw kunai to the ground.

Kamui knew that this brat could never kill someone with her own hands.

how weak and fragile.

"No, I'm not like you."

"I'll protect the one I love, but not by killing."

Kamui laughed. Her words were ridiculous. She was no different from him when he was a child who had just lost his mother. "Whatever you and I trying to protect is no longer there."

"No, no matter how angry or scared I am, I can never kill anyone." As long as she is Shigeshige's sister. She will never be able to because Aniue-same never wanted anyone to die whether it's his friend or enemy.

"Didn't you say you're not afraid?"

"No, I'm not afraid to die." Soyo shook her head lightly. "I'm just afraid that You would betray me."

Kamui was stunned for a moment. It was an answer he hadn't expected. "Do you know the meaning of what you are saying, princess?"

Soyo stepped closer to him.

blue eyes wide opened. It wasn't because the kimono sleeve was wiping blood on his neck, but it was because of Soyo's sad smiley face.

"I know very well."

The incident when Momochi learns that the princess has disappeared.

"Now it's my turn."

"You are!? Yato that came to hang around the princess these days," Momochi exclaimed, "So you're the Hitotsubashi? Tell me now where did you hide the princess!"

Kunai was thrown in a row but Kamui jumped and dodged. "Calm down, Nee-San. I'm not one of those people."

Seeing that Young Yato didn't attack back, Momochi asked. "Then what is the matter?"

"You're looking for the princess, right? I actually had to come and crush you guys. But I got what I wanted, so it's not necessary now."

"Wouldn't it be a problem, suddenly switching sides like this?"

"I can't help it, I'm a pirate." Kamui smiled naively, pointing at himself.

'He is my friend.' That was what the princess had confirmed to her. She looked at the young Yato thoughtfully. There was no other choice.

"Where is the princess?"

"…It must be a noble house somewhere at the north way."

Momochi turned around and ordered the others to find the princess. She turned to threaten the Yato before following them as well. "If you lie, your punishment will not be only beheading."

Kamui smiled as he waved. Soon he walked into Soyo's room. There was a futon lying, but he didn't bother with it and decided to lay staring at the ceiling on the hard tatami floor instead.

"Shinobi again? How boring." The Yato got up and looked around the room. Numerous shinobi surrounded him.

They didn't say anything, just gripped Kunai tightly in their hands.

"Sorry if your corpse turns out bad because I haven't moved my body for a while too." Kamui spun his arm twice before dyeing the tatami in the room blood-red.

"Stay still," Soyo protested because the Yato twitched as she tried to clean the wound on his neck.

"This wound will heal in just a moment. There's no need to do all these."

Soyo frowned "So much blood was gushing out, it wasn't 'just'."

"Besides, I am the one doing it… I should be responsible."

"Hai hai, do it quickly."

Kamui agreed to sit still. After wiping the wound, Soyo sat up in order to wrap a bandage around his neck. She didn't notice how close they were until he put her long hair behind her ear.

She looked down nervously at his face. He stared at her without taking his eyes off. And the hand that touched her ear didn't move.

"W… what are you doing?"

"Your hair pierced my eyes, It's annoying."

"It's done." Soyo hurriedly backed away as soon as the bandage knot was finished.

"Do you have a hairband?"

"There is no such thing like that. I never had to tie my hair."

"Why?"

"Because I'm the princess and I can't just do whatever I want."

"So the princess can't even choose her hairstyle? How funny. Ah… But you're not anymore because Shogun-" He paused before spitting something bad from his mouth.

When he saw that her staring blankly at the floor, he felt guilty. But she spoke up before he could apologize.

"You're right. I'm not the princess anymore."

"But no matter how high-positioned one can be, Neither I nor Aniue-sama wanted to be specially treated than anyone. If we could choose, We'd like to be by everyone's side."

"You always talk about your brother. I wonder, are all sisters like to talk behind their brother's back like this?"

"...You want to know what Kagura-chan says about you?"

"Not a bit"

Soyo laughed lightly. "You actually want to know, right?" Because if he doesn't want to know, he wouldn't say it in the first place. Soyo didn't explain further as she wanted to see how long Kamui can endure his curiosity.

And as she thought, Siblings are the same. Because when Kagura had seen Okita and her together. She pretended to ask Kagura if she doesn't want to know what her relationship with Okita is like and finally less than 10 seconds, Kagura had to ask back because she couldn't stand her curiosity.

"What did she say?"

Soyo gave a sly smile, "Actually, Kagura-chan didn't say anything about you. I've only heard she called you 'stupid brother'."

Seeing Kamui's skewed face, Soyo giggled.

Kamui's left eye twitched before he spoke threateningly. "I'll kill you." Soyo stopped giggling, even though she knew that no madman would kill the person he just helped.

"Give me a small cloth." Kamui waved his hand up and down.

Soyo turned left and right. Finally, she handed over the handkerchief as he ordered.

"Are you going to tie your hair again?"

"No, I'm tying your hair. Hurry up and turn back."

"W...What?"

Kamui made her turn back without much effort.

"Kamui-san!?" Soyo turned her head in confusion. But his threatening smile made her not dare to argue.

"Stay still."

The Yato's fingers comb her long black hair. Strange, the hand that had been killing people so many times was now gently touching her hair. But she had to startle at the cold hand touching the back of the neck

"Does it hurt?"

"N...No."

Soyo hesitated for a moment before saying. "Kamui-san, you...are very strange."

"I'll take that as a compliment."

It only took a moment. The long black hair was neatly tied up. The white nape that had been obscured all along now could be seen. He must have been the first man to see her in this look.

"You're better at doing hair than women."

"Umm...probably because I've done it so many times when I was young."

"Is it Kagura-chan?"

Kamui sighed, "You already know."

Soyo stroked her ponytail and turned to look at the mirror located in the distance. Her hair was tied with a light pink cloth. "If Jiiya saw this, I would get scolded-"

Suddenly, the door was slid open and the sound that followed was "Hime-sama!!!"

"Jiiya!!" She exclaimed as Kamui was still sitting comfortably.

"You're not hurt anywhere, right?!"

Soyo jumped and hugged the one who didn't have two arms to hug her back, "It's a relief that you're safe."

"I should be the one who says that."

"And this person is…? Wait a minute, Hime-sama. It's not appropriate to stay with a man alone in a closed room like this!" Jiiya looked at the man whose top button had been unbuttoned.

"Jiiya, it's okay for Kamui-san." Soyo tried to defend but Kamui said what made everything sounded even worse.

"Damn, we're about to have fun."

"Hime-sama!!!" The old man made a shocked face, his eyes turned white.

Soyo covered her ears before turning to the Yato and yelling, "Kamui-san!"

"Don't tease Jiiya like that! You're so mean. If he's shocked, his OOO that has already shrunk will shrink even more!"

"The meanest person to me right now is you, Hime-sama." Jiiya Maizo wiped his tears with his shoulders.

"Huh, but it seems that even OOO didn't shrink, it couldn't be used anyway," Kamui added.

"Umm...but what exactly is OOO?" Soyo made a thoughtful expression and Kamui only laughed back.

"How could you say that word without knowing its meaning, Hime-same! Actually, you just want to hurt me to change the subject, right!?"

"Heh heh. I got caught."

"And I'm not with you just for a moment, where did you learn those words from? And also, what's with the hair? How inappropriate-" Jiiya swallowed as he felt the dangerous radar from Kamui's smiling face. 'What's wrong with the hair I tied? If you talk badly, I don't care if you're this brat family or not.'

Kamui jumped up and grabbed his umbrella that was left in the front of the room.

"Ah… are you going?"

"It's no fun hanging around with an old man and a brat like you."

Soyo followed. The strong wind gave the smell of dampness, and the sky's dark, "But it looks like it's about to rain."

"Once I'm out of this world, there will be no rain," Kamui explained.

"I know, but I mean-"

Kamui turned around with a smile on his face. "You don't want me to go that much, princess?"

Cheeks that used to be pale now have a faint pink tint. "It's not like that!" she immediately denied.

Kamui laughed before replying, "How pity."

When there is nothing to talk about, they just stared at each other for a long time without saying a word until the Jiiya coughed, indicating that it was time to leave.

"Right...I'm going." Kamui opened his umbrella, walked away, and waved his hand without turning back.

the Yato's back grew further and further away. Soyo just whispered as a response. "See you soon."

Kamui smiled. if it wasn't for Yato's bunny ears. He certainly wouldn't have heard those words.

"What did you say, Hime-sama?" Jiiya Maizo asked because he couldn't catch the princess's words.

"It's nothing." Soyo extended her hand outside the roof. A small drop of water fell into her hand. "It's finally raining."

Kamui successfully drove the ship from Earth to Rakuyo, his hometown planet

"Yo! Found ya! Aren't you guys going to look for me?" He grabbed the collar of one of his subordinates.

"Hey, captain…"

"Ah, Abuto, you're still alive?" Kamui let the previous Yato down and turned his attention to the 7th Division's vice-captain.

The middle-aged man scratched his head, "Damn it, it's like being cursed."

"It was very difficult to find you guys, you know?"

"Don't say that. Before throwing tantrum, please take a look at our condition first." Abuto looked around. The 7th division was severely wounded by explosions and attacks by other Harusame units. "We're almost a space carcass."

The captain looked around and moaned, "Never mind, I can go solo this time."

"Where do you think you're heading? Hey Captain, are you listening? Oi petite!!" Seeing that Kamui was walking without listening to him a word, Abuto sighed. "Never listen to me, do you?"
