First one was an accident

Welcome to another part of the '50 TanKana kisses' series!

Once again, I'm doing this with the list from Kashimalin on tumblr.

One thing to note before you read.

This one-shot is inspired by the game/anime Scarlet Nexus, there aren't any spoilers but I wanted to make it clear that this is an AU.

Everything else should be explained during the one-shot.

Without further ado, on with the one-shot!

Disclaimer: I don't own Kimetsu no Yaiba.

I hope you enjoy!

This was easy.

While that sentence is usually overconfidence or is said right before the universe proves you wrong, that wasn't the case in this situation.

Tanjiro and Kanao had the night shift for patrolling and had been taking out Others for the better part of the night with ease.

With Kanao's clairvoyance that allowed her to point where the monsters would appear and move, combined with her precision with her gun, most Others were felled even when they thought they had moved the perfect way to avoid the attacks.

Adding Tanjiro's rare double ability to manipulate flames and water around him was mostly overkill.

Nothing but a Major Other could actually put up a fight against them and the forecast didn't predict anything like it. They still kept their guard up just in case but, so far, they hadn't even needed to use SAS to share their abilities and fight, just their individual skills were more than enough.

"That's the last of them for now." Kanao called out after shooting at the last Other's weak point, taking it out.

"That's good, we wouldn't want to be late." Tanjiro answered, looking in her general direction.

"Yes." She nodded, almost instinctually activating SAS to share her sight with him but stopped herself. 'I have to save it for later.'

"Something wrong?"

"Eh? No!"

"You're still a terrible liar." Tanjiro chuckled.

"I still don't understand how you can tell without even seeing me." Kanao pouted.

"You look cute when you pout."

"…are you really blind?"

"Yeah, but I don't need my eyes to know that."

Kanao let out a giggle.

While Tanjiro's ability to manipulate two different elements was strong, it had put too much of a strain on his brain to the point that he had gone blind.

Many people thought that he would have to retire early due to this but, to everyone's surprise, it hadn't dulled his fighting capabilities in the slightest.

When asked, Tanjiro said that he could feel his surroundings by using his ability but couldn't give a good explanation about it.

So, after making some special gear to ensure that using his ability wouldn't damage his brain further, he was allowed to continue acting as a member of the OSF.

"I honestly find it hard to believe sometimes, you rarely trip or stumble or… well, anything."

"Do you want me to try and explain it again?"

"Please don't." She said with a laugh. Tanjiro was a lot of things, but good at explaining things wasn't one of them. "As funny as hearing you say 'boom boom' is, we should get going."

"Ah, right!"

The two began to walk.

While it's true that they have the night shift for patrolling, they had chosen to have the night shift.

Why? A few reasons, but the important one was that a meteor shower was said to be happening tonight.

So, after dispatching of all the Others in Mizuhagawa, one of the few places where there weren't any lights around due to the stopped construction, they moved to a high place and sat there to wait.

"I got some bread." Tanjiro said, taking out said food from a bag. "Do you want some?"

"Is it from your family's bakery?"

"Yep."

"Then yes." She happily took it and started to nibble it.

"You make it sound like you wouldn't have accepted it if it was from somewhere else."

"You've spoiled me with good bread." She answered.

Tanjiro immediately let out a laugh.

"Ah, it's starting." She said as she saw the first shooting stars before activating SAS.

Tanjiro felt the request for a connection and almost immediately accepted it, the world coming into view with a slight green hue.

He moved his head up and watched the meteor shower pass but his eyes almost immediately drifted to his right where Kanao was sitting.

"It's beautiful." She whispered, her eyes fixed on the sky.

"It really is." He answered, his eyes fixed on her.

A few moments later she seemed to have caught what he was doing and turned to see him.

"Y-you should be watching the sky, you know I can't have SAS activated for too long to let you see."

"I know." He nodded. "But, as beautiful as the meteor shower is, it really isn't what I want to be watching."

"That's so cheesy." Kanao said with a blush.

"True." Tanjiro chuckled, blushing as well. "Should I stop?"

"…no."

Tanjiro's smiled softened and moved a bit closer until their shoulders were touching and rested his forehead on hers.

"Good." He stared into her eyes.

And suddenly, everything went dark.

It wasn't unusual, SAS has a time limit in it as a safety measure so the OSF members don't accidentally overuse it and damage their own brains and it isn't the first time they have lost track of time and Tanjiro suddenly finds himself unable to see once again.

But, every time it happens, it ends up being disorienting for the red haired teen and he loses his balance. Just now, his hand slipped from where it was supporting him and he leaned forward a bit.

It only lasts for a few moments and he recovers without any issue but, even if disoriented, he would never confuse the soft brush he felt on his lips for a moment.

He could guess his face was matching his hair right now and that Kanao's probably did as well but, instead of saying anything, he moved his hand up to cup her face, both to help him guide him and because he wanted to touch her, before leaning forward and kissing her fully this time.

Kanao reciprocated the kiss and brought an arm around him to hug him closer.

It wasn't until the mental timer they had for SAS showed that it could be activated again that they stopped and Kanao re-activated it.

Just as he thought, her face was bright red.

"Was that on purpose?" Kanao asked, although she didn't sound to be reprimanding him.

"First one was an accident."

"I thought you timed it so you didn't get embarrassed by seeing my face and then kiss me."

"Please, you know me better than that." Tanjiro chuckled. "I always prefer to see you."

With those words, he leaned in and gave her another kiss, this time able to watch as her eyes widened before she closed them and leaned forward.

While Tanjiro enjoyed looking at the meteor shower for a few seconds, this sight was truly a lot more precious for him.

And done!

Not much to say, I'm slowly but surely making my way down that list, hehe.

I hope you liked it!

Until next time.
