Author's note: So this actually isn't based off of the actual book series by R.L Stine but the new movies that came out recently. I am only posting them in the book section because Fan Fiction doesn't have it in the movies area yet. Fair warning this story is going to have a good deal of swearing and wlw content so if you aren't comfortable with that turn back now. Haven't you wondered how Sam and Deena came to be? I have which has inspired this fanfic.
Disclaimer: I do not own these characters or Fear Street. That credit goes to Leigh Janiak and the name belongs to the wonderful R.L Stine.
Deena's POV
Shadyside has always been the place people ran from as soon as they could. I mean, who fucking wants to stay in a place where someone is murdered every decade? This town has been plagued by misfortune supposedly caused by a witch named Sarah Fier. It isn't so bad I suppose during the quiet times. But the murders have given Shadyside a bad reputation. You see the only reason I have stayed is because my brother has no one else since my father is a fucking raging alcoholic. Also my best friends Kate and Simon are here as well which makes this shithole bearable.
I rolled out of bed at the sound of my nerd brother yelling for me. " Deena we are going to be late." Josh hollered again as his footsteps retreated as he entered his room. I quickly dressed in a sweater tank, jeans, and my Doc Martins. Rolling my eyes I exited my room and wrinkled my nose at the stench of alcohol. Going around the living room I slowly started to pick up the remains of my father's alcoholic binge. The only time I can escape from my fucked up existence is when I listen to music or play it in the school band. Even then that is a fleeting thing since I believe shit is doomed in this town and always quit then rejoin a few months later.
Once I felt satisfied with my clean up job I knocked on Josh's door. " Come on dill weed we gotta go!" I shouted, before walking and grabbing my keys and heading to the car. Josh appeared five minutes later after locking the door. He walked to the passenger side and sat in the front seat with a huff. "You always make us late Deena. Why do you care if we are late this time?" Josh asked as I pulled out of the driveway and headed towards the school. I blew a piece of my dark curly hair out of my eyes and responded, " as much as I fucking hate it this is our only option here." He nodded as we parked and exited the car. We are aptly called the Shadyside Witches and our rivals are the Sunnyvale Devils.
Sunnyvale has always been the polar opposite of our town. The preppy bitches and assholes there haven't known a single hardship in their life. Josh and I entered the school and went to our respective lockers. I looked to my right as a person etched the latest name into the locker belonging to the person who was killed. " Rumor has it that Sarah Fier struck again." Kate quipped as she sidled up next to me. I snorted not believing her one bit since she and Simon deal drugs on the side to save up to leave. " Oh come on, not this bullshit again Kate. It is just our town proving the fucked up view the world has of Shadyside." I answered as we went to the bathroom and met up with Simon. When we entered Simon went to a stall and grabbed the drugs they intended to sell under the bleachers during lunch period.
"You still haven't stopped selling that shit guys? I asked as Kate and Simon shrugged simultaneously. "It earns us enough to put away and cover my family's bills." Simon responded while placing the box in his backpack. Kate nodded and added " we will get out of this shithole even if it kills us." We exited the bathroom and started to head towards our first period classes. "Don't jinx yourself dumbass. This town doesn't care if we live or die." I replied before we split into our respective classrooms.
I rolled my eyes knowing that science was going to be a bitch. I placed my backpack by my assigned seat and waited for our ancient teacher to come into the room. During this time other students started to mill in and sit in their spots as well. Including some of the football team and cheerleader bitches. I tried to drown them out as the boys started obnoxiously detailing how they fucked and groped their girlfriends. The cheerleaders were in their own little world as well. Discussing makeup and boys and gossiping about the latest murder. All except one who just nodded and laughed along with them. Her outfit consisted of our school colors and she had her dirty blonde hair in a ponytail complete with a bow. For some reason she intrigues me and I can't take my eyes off of her. I do though when she ends up meeting my gaze and our teacher finally strolls in.
"Okay class today we are going to start on a class project which is going to require you to partner up. Now before you start going crazy and picking your friends I have picked your partners for you." He finished as the class groaned and one of the football players shouted, "this is bullshit!" The others sounded their displeasure and I shook my head and drowned out the other partner's names being called until mine was. "Samantha Fraser you will be partnering with Deena Johnson so please gather your things and move next to her." The teacher concluded and Samantha made her way over to where I am sitting. As she sat down one of her friends quickly spit out, "I can't believe you got partnered with that loner freak." Samantha didn't respond and just proceeded to pull out her supplies. Again I found myself unwittingly staring at her and coincidently not hearing our teacher. Her beautiful eyes stared straight forward with rapt attention trying to understand what our assignment is.
" Ms. Johnson I hope for your sake you heard what I was explaining since I won't be explaining it again." Our teacher aggravatedly quipped at me and the other students laughed. I nodded my head before whispering under my breath, " what a prick." Sam smirked and let out a slight laugh at my comment before composing herself. "Since we are going to be stuck together I guess I should introduce myself." I said, before continuing " I'm Deena. Deena Johnson." I gently extended my hand which she shook briefly. "Samantha Fraser. But my friends call me Sam for short." Samantha explained, and proceeded to open her book to what we needed for the project. I let out a raspy laugh at how quickly she found the pages. "What's so funny?" She asked me as I followed her lead. "Just the fact that you were listening to our douchebag of a teacher while I was distracted." I answered not caring one bit if he heard me. She smirked again and we got to work filling out the work sheets we were handed.
An hour passed pretty quickly with Sam as my partner. My next class I don't mind going to. Even though I quit the band a lot I still love music. Plus Kate is also a cheerleader and we share the football field with them. She and Sam are the only ones I can tolerate from them the others could go fuck themselves. Quickly I changed into my marching band ensemble and grabbed my drumsticks, drums and headed out to the field. "Okay listen up!" The drum major shouted," we have to practice for the next football game. We will be playing while the cheerleaders do their cheers." I wiped a bead of sweat and checked out my surroundings since the instructions are explained daily and I know this shit like the back of my hand. My attention went to the cheerleaders as I searched for Kate to cure my boredom.
Instead my attention fell on Sam. Her smile lit up her face as she sarcastically responded to something stupid said by her friends. I was instantly brought out of my staring by the drum major counting us in. As we prepared I would stare at Sam and a few times find her meeting my gaze. This made me blush since it meant she was staring back. The rest of the hour passed pretty quickly just as the first one had. After band I had math which I fucking loath with a passion. But I know after that I have lunch with Simon and Kate so it isn't so bad. The hour went slowly as I wrote math problems down and answered them uninterestedly. There was just no way I was going to be interested in it when I had Sam Fraser on the brain.
Finally the bell signaled that class was over. I picked up my stuff and exited the classroom and headed to the cafeteria. Once inside I got my food and headed to the bleachers where Simon and Kate were doing business. When I got there Kate had just finished selling a thing of Percocet and I shook my head. Opening my milk I quickly took a sip before starting on my food. A few minutes later I spit out what I was eating when I noticed Sam and her friends were headed towards us. "Hey freak." The head cheerleader said as she went by me to buy some drugs from Simon. Sam looked down at the ground, obviously uneasy about the interaction. The bitches got their drugs then started to leave to I don't know probably fuck their boyfriends. Sam stayed behind and turned to me and said, " sorry about them. You aren't a freak Deena, just different." It only took her bimbo friends about five minutes before they realized that Sam was still with us. " Sam stop talking to the Shadyside freaks and let's go." They yelled to her as she started towards them. " You bitches are just as much Shadyside as we are." I yelled back at them as they walked away.
Simon and Kate looked at me with smirks and I couldn't help my annoyance. " Why the fuck are you dill weeds smirking at me for?" I asked and they replied, " you like Samantha Fraser that's why." My skin blushed a faint pink at the mention of her name. "See." They yelled as they continued to needle me about her. " Shut up you two so what if I like her." Came my snarky reply. My eyes had shifted to the floor as I willed my flushed face to calm down. That's when I noticed a note on the ground with my name on it. I picked it up and opened it surprised to see it was from Sam. It read ' Meet me at my house after school. My parents won't be home and we can do our homework' - Sam. She had included her address as well.
The rest of the day passed uneventfully as I trudged through my boring ass classes. After the last bell of the day signaled it was time to go home I stood up from my chair. I stretched and grabbed my stuff and exited the classroom. When I got to my locker Kate and Simon were there to chat for a few minutes while I waited for Josh. Once he came out we went to the car and I dropped him off and let him know where I was going. He shook his head and went inside. Quickly I pulled back out and went to the address I was given from Sam. Once I arrived I shut the car off, exited, and knocked on the door to her house. Sam opened the door and I was left breathless at the fact that she looked just as beautiful in normal clothes as she had in her cheer outfit. "Aren't you going to come in instead of staring off into space?" She asked and laughed as I shook myself out of my Sam induced trance. "Yeah sorry about that." I apologized as I entered the Fraser residence. She closed the door and we went to her room so we could start our homework.
"So drugs huh?" I asked as I sat down and pulled out my science homework. "I don't personally do them." Sam said as she proceeded to pull out the same subject as me. "My parents would kill me if I did. In this town you try to stay alive even if it means taking orders and living how you are told to." She finished as she fiddled with a corner of the page of the science book she had just opened. This caught my attention right away as she seemed so perfect so what the fuck could she be dealing with? "Oh. How so?" I asked as she bit her lip before answering me," remember when my friends were being assholes earlier and calling you a freak? I think I might be in that same category." She asked me while simultaneously giving me an answer. For a moment I felt my heart flutter at the prospect of Sam possibly having the same feelings for me as I do for her.
"You're still you Sam. Different or not and if those cheerleader bitches are actually your friends they will see that no matter what." I concluded reassuringly as the unsureness seemed to seep out of her. I decided to move the books so I could move closer to help her. I placed one hand on the bed and the other I used to move a stray piece of hair away from her eyes. Gently I lifted her chin so she would look at me. When our eyes met I couldn't help the desire to kiss her. Slowly I leaned forward and I could see her eyes flutter shut. "If you want me to stop please let me know and I will." I told her so she had a chance to change her mind. She didn't move but instead placed one of her free hands on the bed next to mine. Softly I grabbed her hand before leaning forward the rest of the way and kissing her lightly on the lips. As I went to pull back she reciprocated while pulling me into a more fervent kiss. We kissed for a few more minutes until we couldn't breathe. When we separated for air it was like someone dumped cold water on her. Her eyes bulged and she jumped up from where she was sitting. "I think you should go home, Deena. I can't do this, I am sorry." Sam said in a panicked voice.
I picked up my science book and placed it into my backpack before giving her one last look and leaving the house. Once I got in the car my mind clouded with feelings of hurt and rejection. I left in a hurry since I was in no shape to face her parents had they come home early. Once back home I raced to my room ignoring Josh and angrily putting music on to drown out my own thoughts.
