Heather scowled at McGonagall. This was the third week they were going to be working on Needle to a matchstick. Well screw that. Heather stood up and collected a beetle to practice the beetle to button transfiguration.
"We are not working on that, Miss Potter." McGonagall stated. Heather looked at her coldly.
"I am not paying you to waste my time." Heather countered. With that she turned back to her book. She practiced the wand movement and spell pronounciation a few times while invisioning what she wanted before she attempted the spell. And performed it perfectly. She reversed it and did it again. Each time she did it, she did it quieter and quieter until she wasn't using the incantation. Once she could do it consistantly, silently, she started making smaller movements with her wand until it was barely more than a jab of her wand to the beetle to finish the transfiguration. Then she put her wand down, she flipped the page of her book and she began writing answers in to a list of questions.
The class ended. Heather levitated the jar with her beetle over to where it belonged before she put her book and quill away.
"And ten points from Gryffindor for not following instructions." McGonagall called. Heather completely ignored her as she strode out of the classroom.
Down to lunch she went.
She collected a bun and a piece of grilled chicken breast and assembled a chicken sandwich. Then snatching an apple, she left the Great Hall and started the trek to the Green Houses for Herbology.
After Herbology, since she was outside she trecked over to Care for Magical Creatures. Technically it was an elective and not available until third year but she didn't take boredom well so she attended Care for Magical Creatures, Arithmancy and Ancient Runes to fill in the gaps of her schedule. Amusingly, she learned more in those three classes than in the rest of the classes she had to attend.
After Care for Magical Creatures, she headed for the library where she settled in to do her homework.
She was just starting her history studies when a prefect entered and said the Headmaster wanted to talk to her.
"Since you like acting like an owl, please inform him that this is my study time. I will meet him after dinner." She stated, not looking away from her book.
"He wants to see you now."
"He can wait or he can come here himself. Go away."
