I had to remind myself that Mira couldn't sleep at my house so frequently, because she had business to attend to at the guild. I understood that I couldn't do that all the time, because she already had a dormitory. It was fun, nevertheless. Being around people every once in a while wasn't so bad.
But anyway, it was back to business for me. It was time to get serious, as if I wasn't serious enough.
My muscles had healed fully, and I was feeling rather refreshed and energized for once. It was back to muscle training for me. Traveling to a mountain range a little ways from Magnolia, I began climbing to test my stamina and endurance, and to also gain some pulling strength, to be able to pull up my own strength. The first time, I fell flat on my ass. As I expected, because I had no experience with climbing at all. But I persisted, because it was a useful skill that could've saved my life one day. And through trial and error and a lot of cuts and bruises, I was able to get myself...
... 5 ft. off the ground.
Okay, after all that time, it wasn't much, but it was certainly a start. I decided to call it a day by going on a monster hunting quest.
What better way to pull another muscle immediately after I've healed, right?
Luckily there was a quest to take when I arrived at the further constructed guild. It still looked like the skeleton of a building, but looked like they were making a lot of progress. The early-evening sun shone from the west, casting an orange hue on the guild.
"Hey Vin," greeted Mira.
"Hey Mira. You know what I'm here for, right?"
"You're in luck, so don't worry. You got a good one up there."
"Alright, thanks. How's your day been?"
"Pretty busy, actually. A lot of people need breaks, growing tired from the workload and all, so it's only natural that I was very busy. Do you... want a drink or anything?"
"That'd be nice, just a water or something. 'S too early for alcohol. Plus, I don't plan on becoming an alcoholic."
"That's good thinking. That sort of thing kinda creeps up on other people." Mira promptly filled a glass full of water and slid it down to me.
"Thanks."
"You're welcome."
From there, neither of us knew how to advance the conversation any further, so an awkward silences reigned for a few minutes as noisy construction continued around us.
"..."
"..."
It seemed both of us were looking for a reason to start a conversation, but finding no means to one, the awkward silence continued for a few minutes more until I remembered the reason I came.
"That's right, I was here to get a quest, of course, besides the fact that I wanted to see you."
"That's alright, I don't mind," she replied.
"No, really, I mean that," I chuckled.
I was rather surprised to see the request board overflowing with requests, but about 80 percent of them were worthless little quests. The only monster slaying quests were scattered around, and the highest paying, as always. I supposed I could get a quest done and hurry back in time to complete another one, but I was beginning to realize the competitive spirit in some of the people here.
Naturally, the higher paying the job was, the tougher the monster was. And as always, I chose the highest paying job, thinking it would be a cakewalk, again, as always. Routine, routine. But it was because I hadn't done any tough quests in a while that I had adopted such a mindset as this. Yet, I rushed into it, not taking heed of if it would be my last.

"Somehow... somehow...! How and why did this happen?!" I tried retracing my memory, remembering that I had been traveling along some path, then somehow wandered off the path... but I couldn't recall what for. Then the ground underneath me crumbled...
Then I blacked out...?
When I woke up a few moments before, I was upside down, suspended inside a giant web of some sort. This was a bad situation, especially for me because when I tried flaming up, the web didn't catch fire. My flames were being suffocated by the web, which was one thing, and the web was also sticky, which was a pain to deal with. As far as I was concerned, I had no hope of getting out. I seemed to be in the right place, though, because the job request required me to find the source of this supposed "regenerating" spider that dragged people down into a hole and devoured them. And if I didn't do something about my rather sticky situation, I would be its next meal. For a second, I was calmed by the fact that I had a metal skeleton, thicker than most, but then I remembered that the request described the spider as being able to bite through metal substances.
I was pretty much fucked.
To make matters worse, I felt a vibration on the web coming from one of the ends, which led into a tunnel. There were numerous strings on the spiderweb, each leading out to a dark tunnel. And I was at the center of it, blood constantly rushing to my head as I hung dangling from the sticky, fireproof web.
"What a tasty little... helpless morsel," hissed a voice, then eight red eyes appeared in the dark, crawling out slowly to reveal the rest of the spider's sleek, black body and eight hairy legs. "After having eaten so many humans, whether they have come to kill me, or if they simply made the unwise decision to wander off the path... kuekuekue... all of them have become my next meal. Why should you be any different?"
"Great, just what I needed... an oversized, bloodthirsty, talking arachnid to come and give me a lecture before sucking my brains out with a straw... skip the talk. I'm here to kill you, and you better believe it, you arachnid son of a bitch."
"Well, that's just hilarious... let's see if you can break free of this web first before trying to kill me. In the meantime, I'll just slash away at you as your blood drips to the floor, leaving you to bleed out... slowly... painfully... I just can't wait to sink my teeth into you, you tasty morsel...!"
"If you just can't wait, why don't you try then! I'll burn your little spider head off faster than you can say 'thread'." As the spider leaped toward me hissing, I inhaled deep, and spewed out a stream of fire the moment before the spider slashed its razor sharp legs at my face. That was about all the harm done to me, no more than a few scratches to the face as the spider fell to the ground, legs curled and burning to a crisp. I had yet to see if it could regenerate, however. I kept my eyes on the spider, but blew a stream of fire downwards, or rather, upwards because I was hanging upside down. The web was too thick where I tried burning it before, and while I was able to burn it now, it was still a long process. To make it quicker, I tried using my Fire Shield, but flames only bursted out of my feet and head. My torso and arms were still immobile, and I was losing hope.
The story stopped here. After I devoted more time to school, I ceased to write this story entirely. But now, let's talk about what I planned for the story originally.
I originally had an entire series planned out, but over time I became less motivated to put it into action, because the storyline wasn't fully fleshed out, it sucked anyway. I understand that because of Fanfiction, every story would've had to be based off of something.
Vincent's story would've continued as planned: Vincent continued to increase is power level like some typical Shounen protag, and then he would've gone off to fight Elementia right around the Tenrou Island arc. I hadn't even watched up to there, nor do I plan on continuing, because I lost interest in Fairy Tail.
I suppose things will change over time.
But Vincent would've defeated Elementia and then went off to travel to become even stronger.
He would go to Hyrule, and then go to wherever Fire Emblem takes place (that or some place from Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest) and meet his childhood friend Jordon. Then they'd form an alliance or something, and because I didn't have a story planned for Jordon besides that, his backstory was that he was a royal guard. I know, what a backstory.
Night's story was the PSI Saga, and she would go through Earthbound until the Phase Distorter (the one that takes the party to the Cave of the Past) fails to work. Then they hike up a mountain and then fall down a hole on the summit of the mountain, bam. Undertale. Poo was actually going to become evil like Chara or Flowey and attempt to stop Night, Jeff and Paula from getting back to the surface. Sans has a broken Phase Distorter in his top secret room like MatPat's Game Theory suggests (because it's just a theory) and they travel back to the past and finally beat Giygas. Night would've left home after a few years to rescue her father who was working for a spy organization, and she would train to become a ninja (an actual one, not the kind depicted in modern culture) and this would then follow the story of Ninja Gaiden. No, Night's last name was not secretly "Hayabusa" all this time. None of my characters had surnames.
Then Vincent, Jordon, and Night would meet up. Night tried to assassinate Vincent and failed. Then they join the fighting tournament called Super Smash Bros.! Before Ultimate came out, I was planning to have every character from every Smash game in this story, from N64-Sm4sh. Then Ultimate was released and I thought, "dang, there goes my idea." Jordon's father would've invaded the tournament, and Vincent would create a hole to suck him into the Subspace Emissary, and more bullshit. Jordon dies, Night dies, Vincent goes to fight ultimate big baddie boss and hooray, world is saved. But at what cost?
And then I was planning one of those bullshit it-was-just-a-dream endings like the end of SMB2. Vincent woke up in Twinleaf Town and this girl named Night (coincidence?omghfjfjgkkrisjkekajd) shows up at her door, says "are you Vincent? I've been looking for you." She tell him, "we won." And the story ends. And after that, I thought, "man! What a lame ass story. Let's make it more interesting, eh?" And that's what I've been doing all this time.
I know not when or where my new story will be released, but I'm taking time to actually make the story better. I've introduced a lot more characters as well.
I apologize for being gone so long. I mean, if you didn't care in the first place, then you're one step ahead. But to anyone who's been following the story, thank you for your support. Just know that I'm not gone or leaving. More is on the way.
Till we meet again,
