Bella dresses extremely well for her first day back. She even adorns red lipstick. She's thankful the weather has been holding out with her cast. And that she has enough dresses to fit around said cast.

Her class is very excited to see her.

" , thank god you're back. We had to do this awful project-"

"Hello my loves. Let's just pretend this is day one again, and we're going to be going over something new. Unfortunately I think that I thought y'all were a bit more mature than you are. So we're going to scratch the project gave you and start a research project. It will be based on the #MeToo movement, while we get into our first novel "Beloved" by Toni Morrison. Any questions?"

They each have laptops or iPads, so it's easy to get them started. Some kids have questions, but even the guys seem interested.

Eventually Blake raises her hand,

" , are we presenting this to the class?"

Bella shakes her head from her desk,

"No. This is just to give me a chance to see where you are academically. And if you're a good person," she winks and a few students laugh.

There are no issues with the assignment until Edward comes up to her desk after class.

" ?" he asks sheepishly.

She looks up, immediately concerned,

"Edward, what's wrong?"

He shifts his weight from side to side, ducking down to whisper,

"This project isn't because of me right? Because I didn't mean to um, sexually harass, or create a hostile environment or-"

She touches his arm,

"No honey, of course not. We just need to get a little more knowledge before we read the book."

"I'm sorry for how I've been behaving, I just, there's no excuse really. I wasn't raised like this. I just haven't seen anyone as beautiful as you before and-"

"Alright Edward, let's not push it. Just go sit down please."

He nods and Bella looks back down at her computer, blushing.

She finds herself eating her salad at the table when Rose bounces over to her. Just guess what happened when you were gone, Swan?!"

Bella stares. She looks the same, flawless as ever with golden curls.

"Emmett FINALLY popped the question! Can you believe it?! Look at the size of this thing!" And she flashes a huge white gold round engagement ring on a blood red painted finger.

"Oh my GOD! Congratulations!"

"I know, I know! Thank you! So I'm going shopping for engagement photos this weekend and I was wondering if you wanted to come? You know, I don't have a lot of girlfriends, I don't know why-" Bella gives her a look, "Okay I know why, but anyway. I'll help you pick stuff out too. You seem like you could use a makeover."

"Rose," she whines.

"Great! So Saturday at 11!"

"Fine, fine."

Bella still hasn't quite figured out what to do during homeroom, so they're all sitting on their phones.

"Hey , you heard about Miss Hale right?!" Blake asks from the corner.

"I did, it's very cute."

"Do you have any romantic interests?" Alice asks cheerfully.

"Oh you guys know I don't. I'm married to my books."

"I'm sure that's true ma'am," Jasper drawls sarcastically.

"Anyway, that's a great idea," Bella says, "Let's make a card."

"Are we five?" asks Edward.

"Precisely. And if you're a good boy I'll even reward you with a sticker," Bella teases. Edward blushes. But they spend the rest of the class making personalized cards for Rosalie and Emmett.

They drop them off at the desk, Edward filing out last, like he tends to do, so he can get a personal goodbye from Bella of course.

"Edward! Go drop these off for me sweetie."

She can see his face turn red, but he ducks his head and grabs the pile off of her desk and heads off. Bella most definitely stares at his ass.

The week goes by great and Bella gets a great idea of what students are where. Blake is passionate, but injects too much of her own opinion, Jasper writes grammatically incorrect, Alice writes too introspectively, and even Edward, who she wants to put on a pedestal has credential issues. He speaks like he has a PHD, and shittily cites his sources.

Saturday morning has Bella meeting Rosalie at the mall. They hit up Starbucks first and then one store after another. Rose never seems too tired, and as much as she makes Bella try on, you'd think they'd both gotten engaged. Rose must have a second job or something to pay for all the shit she buys. That doesn't stop her from buying Bella things either.

"So, Jake tells me you know each other from childhood," Rose says from the next dressing room over.

"Yeah we used to play and hike and stuff."

"Did you used to play with that dick? Because he is hot! You're single right? Emmett and I will invite you too over!"

"Rosalie!" Bella hisses, "that's inappropriate."

"Why? Bella, I'm telling you, you're a gorgeous girl and there's fresh meat right at the high school!"

Bella knows she does not mean Edward, but that's where her mind goes. She's wearing a white ruched dress that pushes her breasts to her neck and ends mid thigh. She looks amazing, and she tossles her hair and snaps a few pics to Jess, and because she's feeling saucy, one to Jacob.

"Bella? You're too quiet! Did you find something you like? What do you have on? Come out here!" She demands.

Bella sighs, sets her phone on the dressing room bench and opens the door.

"Holy shit! Look at your tits! You're hot! We've gotta have a party. Or something. When do you get your damn cast off? I'm having a party and you're wearing that dress!" She bounces excitedly, "and then someone is getting into it! She claps her hands and bounces off to the fitting room.

Bella heads back to hers, and twirls around. She can't wait til she can wear it with heels and be actually ready. They stop by Subway for lunch and end at Victoria's Secret. Rose had no shame about her body, nor did she need to, but Bella didn't come out of the room to show her anything. Even if she did take a couple of pictures herself.

Bella ends up exhausted at around six and she clomps upstairs slowly to hang up her new clothes. She'd bought some makeup too and a casual pair of leopard print fashion tennis shoes. She collapses on her bed in exhaustion and wakes up disoriented at about 2am.

She hobbles downstairs in the dark, banging herself quite a bit until she gets to the kitchen. She flicks on a light and starts the oven, grabbing a frozen pizza. She absolutely does not eat the whole thing on her couch, watching Hoarders, until she falls asleep again.

Monday is the rainiest day she's spent in Forks so far. It's slick driving and her cast is getting wet as she just gets into her car. She's running late due to the rain and her hair is a sopping mess because she couldn't balance her bag and coffee mug and an umbrella on a bum leg. So she's sitting in her car, braiding her hair into a quick French braid. She slides out and tries to balance before grabbing her stuff. The rain has started to fall again, harder and she grabs out her umbrella, slings her bag over her shoulder and grabs her coffee, pushing her car door shut with her hip.

She starts heading for the door and she feels everything before it happens. It's like that sickening feeling before a car wreck is about to happen. Bella braces herself for her fall, but it never comes. Instead, Edward is there, though he'd never been anywhere near her, catching her. They both still tumble to the ground, but he catches most of her fall. It's wet and cold and Edward's golden eyes are right by hers.

"Are you okay?!"

"I'm- how the hell did you get over here so fast?"

He dodges her question, rubbing his finger along her lower lip.

"You're bleeding."

"You're shaking." She replies.

In the blink of an eye she's vertical again, but everything is soaked.

"Does it always rain like this?" She asks.

Edward squints up at the sky,

"Worse sometimes. , look, I know I'm probably not your favorite student or anything, but can I please help you around at least? No offense, but I've never met someone so clumsy."

She shivers,

"Um, sure, just for now."

So Edward grabs her things and they walk arms linked into the building. Edward let's her get class started and goes to find them some dry clothes. Bella ends up in yoga pants and a gray form fitting Forks High t-shirt that doesn't exactly make the stares stop and Edward is wearing gray sweatpants for fucks sake.

They're sitting in homeroom, Bella on her desk, in control of the spotify playlist playing through the soundbar and they're looking through bundles of magazines for photos for their #MeToo projects. There's a knock at the door and Bella straightens up immediately,

"Come in!"

But it's just Jacob, and he waltzes in smiling. There's a chorus of "Hi Coach!"'s and he waves before heading to Bella.

"Bells? Is it casual Monday or something?"

"If you must know, I fell and got soaked this morning."

"Oh my god. Again. The fucking clumsiest person I know." he murmurs, sitting on her chair and sliding in front of her.

She sets her phone down and watches the kids go back to working,

"Shut up. Well, good thing Edward offered to be my personal transporter."

"Did he now? I wonder why he'd do that," Jacob says, rolling his eyes.

"He's a good kid."

"If he's convinced you…"

Bella rolls her eyes, because it seems like he's jealous of Edward. But he gets over it quickly and leans in even closer,

"Did you get that dress you sent me? You looked amazing."

She smiles,

"I did! Rose said she'd have a party and invite us so I'd have an occasion to wear it."

"Well if I didn't know better, I'd think she was trying to set us up."

Bella touches his arm,

"Oh I'm sure that's not the case at all."

Jacob grins and Bella's on the edge of her seat, waiting for him to ask her out when a voice clears their throat. She looks up to see Edward, and he does not look happy.

" , can you check my project?"

She stares at him. Is he serious? It's a collage.

"I'm sure it's-"

"Please," and she wants to hear him beg in a completely different way.

Jacob moves out of the way,

"I should get back anyway, text me later Swan!"

Waiting until Jacob is mostly out of the room, Edward shows me his collage. It's beautiful.

"It looks-"

"Are you and Coach dating?" he asks harshly.

She looks up,

"What?"

"Are. You. And. Coach. Dating?"

She glares,

"Who do you think you're talking to?"

"Just answer the question."

"Get out of my face Edward."

"Or what?"

Bella starts, not expecting to be challenged,

"You're going to get detention."

"Ooh, more alone time with you, I'm so scared." he mocks.

Bella's near tears, at least young kids are easier to control. They don't generally talk back as much, and it's just bullshit that they really don't know what they're saying. Edward is challenging her, his eyes darker than usual. She thinks of the way he'd saved her this morning. She did not understand the raging hormones of teenage boys.

"Edward Cullen. Go sit down, or get out, it's up to you."

He stares at her, breathing heavily, and she twists the end of her braid around her finger. They're playing a dangerous game of cat and mouse, especially with the other students in the classroom.

"Yes ." he snaps, walking back to his seat.
