Bella wakes up in the morning to four text messages. She groans and kicks off her blankets huffing.

Jess: holy hell u looked amazing last night.. plz tell me u got fucked at least

Rosalie: Thanks for coming babe! You looked gorgeous! Xx

Jacob: Hey, wanna go to the beach with me tmmrw? I've decided I need to see a little bit more of you (;

Edward: Thanks for texting. I had an amazing time. You know what they say, "if you do something you'll regret in the morning, sleep late." Sweet dreams (:

There's only one text message she leaves unreplied to. Then she's heading down to make coffee. Eventually, somewhere between cutting the avocado and loading her bread in the toaster, her phone rings.

"Hey Jake," she says.

"Hey Bells, what are your plans for today?"

"Nothing really, should probably lesson plan."

"You're joking. It's vacation!"

"Kids still need to learn."

"Well not today. Let's go to the beach! Please!"

"La Push?"

"Yeah. If you drive out here we can carpool."

"I could probably do that."

"It's gonna be unseasonably warm," Jacob mentions, "bring a swimsuit because I may be swimming. And if I am, you are too, Swan!"

"Yeah yeah, whatever. You want me to make lunch too?"

"Is it rude if I say yes?"

She laughs,

"You're lucky I like you."

They finish their plan and she drinks her coffee and eats her toast while texting Jessica all about making out with Edward. At first, she wasn't going to, but the guilt in her gut made her need to expose herself to somebody.

She makes them turkey sandwiches and cuts some vegetables and pineapple. She packs a few beers and some sunscreen. The regular beach stuff.

Jacob's house is about a twenty minute drive. She hops out of the car and goes to greet his father Billy, and there's a couple other boys in the house she doesn't remember. They tease her about going with Jacob instead of one of them.

Jacob appears with a bro tank and swim trunks on and a bag slung over his shoulder. He smiles and hugs Bella tightly.

"Let's go!"

She climbs into Jacob's truck and they head out to the beach. It's not hot by any means but it's pretty sunny and Bella plans to lay out on the sand.

When they get there, she sets out the towels perfectly in the sand and Jake settles the cooler, the bags and sets up the speaker. She sheds her clothes, leaving her in a black bikini. It's nothing special, but Jacob stares at her like it is.

"You're hot Bells."

He peels off his shirt and lays next to her.

"Look who's talking."

"C'mon, if we were together, we could be competing with Blondie and Emmett."

Bella laughs,

"I am nowhere near Rosalie beautiful."

He raises his sunglasses to look over at her seriously,

"You are. And one day, you're gonna see that."

She blushes, sprays herself with sunscreen and lays down. J Cole is playing in the background. She can feel the warmth radiating from Jacob's body, they're so close. It's almost warmer than the sun.

"How's teaching going for you? For real?" Jacob asks.

"It's… a pain. And you know I have basically no social life so I work much more than is healthy."

"I can see that. I say this with sincerity. Fuck them kids!"

Bella turns to him, confused,

"What?"

"Fuck them kids! They'll be okay. Literally I love my job, but when I leave the parking lot in the afternoon, I turn on my radio and say fuck them kids."

Bella's mouth falls open,

"But what do you do with your free time?"

Jacob laughs,

"Anything I damn well please. I just fuck around really. But I certainly do not spend as much time on work as I should. But apparently you're making up time with that."

"I guess I could do less. I mean, my prep is useless though, Blake Shepherd has a free period, so she's in there a lot."

"See, boys and girls scrambling to be 's favorite," he teases.

"I think it's the fact that everyone that works at school is insanely beautiful. Like what is in the water here, and where can I get some?"

Jacob nearly growls,

"I mean there's a reason for that. The kids too."

"What do you mean?"

He shakes his head,

"Never mind. Just. everyone is attractive, but let's just say you're the most naturally beautiful."

"Are we body shaming right now?"

"No of course not! I just meant- never mind."

"You keep starting sentences and not finishing them," she sits up fully now, "What aren't you telling me?"

"Bella. You left. I stayed. Things changed. That's all you need to know."

She rolls her eyes and reaches into the cooler to grab a beer.

"I really wish that everyone would stop treating me like a child. What the hell does that even mean? I'm sick of apologizing for leaving!" she explodes, popping the top off of her beer.

"I'm not asking you to, Bella. But, there's things in this town that only people who grew up here should know."

"Oh fuck you," she rolls her eyes.

"Just, know that your world is much safer than mine."

"Jacob,"

"Anyway. We didn't go home together last night, why was that?"

Bella frowns, she'd come here to get over Edward by getting under someone else, but suddenly, she just really wants to smack him.

"You're so possessive. Like no one else can even look at me. It was weird."

Jacob nods,

"Sorry about that, I just. I've liked you for a long time. Since we were kids, a long time."

"Then why not make a move? Not grab me like I'm yours in public."

"Bella, I'm sorry if I made you uncomfortable."

"Great. Me too. Now tell me about it. Right now."

Jacob sighs,

"There, no, you're going to think I'm crazy."

Bella shakes her head and reaches out to touch his arm seriously,

"I trust you with my life Jake. Just tell me."

Jacob sighs,

"Promise you'll still trust me after?"

"Swear."

"So there's two sides to every story. We'll start with the good people. Me. Once you hit puberty in this town, you start going through changes. At least in the tribe. It's like a second awakening. Then, you're part of a pack. A… wolf pack."

"Jake, what the hell are you talking about?"

"Bella, I'm a werewolf. It's an old, old transformation that we don't really know where it comes from. But I'm, a werewolf. My pack was chosen to protect this land."

"Protect it against what?"

Jacob sighs,

"There's a huge treaty in place. Against us, and the bloodsuckers."

"Bloodsuckers?"

"Yep. Vampires are real too. They stay on their side of town, and we stay on ours. The high school is a safe zone."

"There's vampires at school?!" Bella all but shouts.

He laughs,

"That's why I said you're the most naturally beautiful. Vampires are abnormally beautiful to seduce their prey and feed on them. The vampires in the area though, I will give them credit, they only feed on animals."

"Who are the vampires at the school?!" she asks, voice shrieking.

"Oh you know, Rose, Emmet, Alice and Jasper, Edward."

"Edward Cullen?"

"Yes. Carlisle too."

"Holy shit. Holy shit."

"Yeah. I mean, I'm cool with them and they're cool with me, but it's obviously a tricky relationship. I keep waiting for one of them to fuck up so I can pounce. It's been a while since we've had a serious fight here."

Bella's mind is racing. Not only is Jacob a fucking wolf, but Edward is seducing her with his magical powers. And she's falling for it! She stands up and yanks back on her cover up.

"Let's go. I gotta get home. I'm just, overwhelmed."

"Bella, I need to know you're not scared of me."

She shakes her head quickly,

"I'm not, I'm not. But I just need to be home right now."

"Okay."

They pack up their items and get back in the car. Bella pulls out her phone immediately and texts Edward to meet her at her house. She is gonna tear him a new one and it's not exactly the type of conversation you can have in public.

Edward: Anything you say Miss Swan (;
