Chapter 10 – Meropis or Sanctuary
The ship was starting to become crowded with almost one hundred people on board. The Gen'Lup had a good starting group. But now they needed to spread out. It was time to hunt down Meropis' location. Daniel had been pinpointing a celestial location based on what information was given in the Ancient database.
By group demand, it was promptly renamed Sanctuary. The trip by ship was short. Only a week long. The Gen'Lup spent a day in orbit over the largely ocean planet looking for anomalies. The former SGC team members had spent too many years with too little information from a MALP feed with limited view around the Stargate to not investigate the planet in depth.
The volcano and settled down and was now dormant. The land mass had gotten even bigger due to the volcanic eruptions. The lava flows had gone out of the crater and into the ocean, protecting the land mass even more. The plant life had grown wild and created a beautiful vista of mountains, scrubland and plains.
Where the cities had been located, were no more than fitted stones. Technology would not have survived in the open. If there was anything to find, it was likely buried under the stones. The insect life had evolved, but didn't seem any larger than some smaller birds, or dragon flies the size of sparrows.
The three SG Teams beamed down first to recon the area and to get samples for Dr Lam to test against their new biology. Of the two cities, Eusebes seemed to be the better location for their home camp. After Dr. Lam came back with the all clear on the insects and plants, the SF's were beamed down to create a perimeter and then the rest of the group. The kids went wild, but at least stayed in sight of the camp.
The Cimmerians youth were in awe of how easily the children changed forms as they ran around the camp. The adults reassured them that being cooped up on the ship, the children needed to burn out their energy.
The whole group was excited to get out of the ship and feel the sunlight again. They all moved with excitement as they tested their new strength and in some cases, changed forms to help haul, load, and build, their new homes. They were only limited by their imagination.

Within a few weeks, the more permanent homes were built for the families and the teams were getting restless again. A central building had been built for meetings and new teams had been formed.
Most of the Cimmerians were not incorporated into a team yet, because they were still training and had barely exhibited their first change. But a few had shown potential and had been added to the existing teams to gain additional field experience.
The others had been told that they would not be risked until they had trained to the full use of their new abilities. They had seen Teal'c and Cam train and had an idea how versatile their new forms could be. Even the SF's admitted that they couldn't match that level of skill, yet.
The new teams consisted of five people, so far. Two experienced SG team members and three new members. The new teams were:
Lup-1 consisted of Sam, Baker, two SF's (Nick Rosetti and Jones), one Cimmerian (Erik).
Lup-2 consisted of Teal'c, Bosco, two SF's (Jensen and Chang), one Cimmerian (Magnus).
Lup-3 consisted of Cam, Daniel, Vala, one SF (Sloan), one Cimmerian (Torkel).
Lup-4 consisted of Reynolds, Wells, Peterson, one SF (O'Daniel), one Cimmerian (Ols).
Lup-5 consisted of Dixon, Balinsky, Bosworth, one SF (Josh Lambert), one Cimmerian (Nils).
Jack and the remaining SF's and Cimmerians were the back-up team and security for Sanctuary and Valkyrie. They remained on Sanctuary to secure the Stargate and the families while they continued training.
After discussing the new personnel structure for their explorations, the group began to talk about who to approach next. Jack wanted to secure the Stargate on Sanctuary so that no one would come exploring their home. Reynolds and Dixon offered to help move the Stargate. After the Stargate was secured, Reynolds would approach the Pangarans, and Dixon would approach the Juna. Sam would talk to the Nasyans. Teal'c would make the offer to the Hak'tyl. Cam would make the offer to the Talthus ship people.
They all agreed that Teal'c should be the one to approach Master Bra'tac and Rya'c of the Free Jaffa. Most of the Free Jaffa could not be trusted, especially after the mess with Geris. But Bra'tac and Rya'c and his wife were more than welcome to join the Gen'Lup. Cam could search for any remaining Sodan after his visit to the Talthus ship people.
With a plan in place, the Gen'Lup broke into three groups to plan their next steps. One to move the Stargate, one with the three Lup Teams to approach recruits, and one with the rest of the colony to plan how to build a sustainable village.
