I walked along the caves, they were much longer than I had liked and it made me wonder just how much stamina did these creatures have. Walking towards a room is exhausting, but I can only imagine having to climb this mountain every day.
'Must suck to be one of the teachers.'
I looked around for a few more hours until I heard a sound come from somewhere behind me. I ignored it at first since it was probably just a dragon that was walking by, but I heard some sort of chanting happen as the walls of the cave glowed indigo.
'What the hell?' I thought and turned around to find a figure in a purple cloak which was softly chanting some language that I didn't recognise.
"Execratus hominem," it chanted softly, I readied to fight who or what this strange being could be but it disappeared without a trace. There was no signs that it even was there to begin with, no sound, no dust, nothing, it was almost as if it just popped out of existence.
'Odd, maybe it was nothing? Am I really the only mage in this world?' I thought and went on with my day, it's not like I could just seek out this thing, the compass would only work if I knew what it was and for all I know that thing could just be an illusion.
I eventually found Moon's cave, she was just sitting there and seemed to be deep in thought.
'What is she thinking? Seems a bit unfair that she could read my mind and I can't.'
"Hey Moon," I said, she looked surprised to hear my voice.
"What? Who are you? And why do you keep talking to me? What are you trying to do and are you evil?"
"Whoa whoa slow down, my name is Viribus and I'm a mage, a being that can control and use magic. I didn't talk to you before but I may have talked to a very powerful mindreader who could have been the thing that talked to you earlier."
"Oh, what is a mage though?"
"Well, it's basically someone who practices magic like your animus dragons. I am more powerful than them though, my magic can change my surroundings on a greater scale than others and my soul does not deteriorate as fast as your animus dragons do."
"So you are a more powerful animus dragon?"
"No," I said and took off the divine darkness to reveal myself.
"I am what's known as, a human."
"So you're a scavenger who speaks dragon?"
'...'
'This freaking-'
"Sorry, I thought you were a scavenger because you walked on two legs like one."
'Oh right, she can read my mind now that the divine darkness is not shielding me.'
"What is the 'divine darkness'?"
"It's one of the four items my cousin enchanted for me, it can hide me from essentially anything I know."
'I miss him.'
"Oh, I'm sure he's fine right now."
'Being near a mind reader is going to take some time to get used to. Wait, why am I talking to you with my mouth? I can just say what I want in my thoughts.'
"Oh, I guess that works too."
'Good, this will make things much easier to explain.'
'Should I explain myself from the beginning? Last I checked you don't really like being in crowded places.'
"Not sure how you know that, but okay."
'I will explain it soon, so basically my grandfather was a powerful mage...'
'About fifty years ago, he had figured out how to use magic in all forms. The magic that was passed on in the family was mostly enchanting, we would usually have some item we wear that we enchant with any ability we want, my bracelet is one of these items,' I explained and showed her my bracelet which was it's usual grey color with a brown strip.
'This magic was passed on in the family, but one person who was the most effective at enchantments was my cousin, his name was Ion. His abilities was so powerful that he managed to enchant an entire island to be his secret lair that only me and him can enter.'
'Unfortunately he enchanted it to now allow fire so that we wouldn't get hurt which made it really cold sometimes.'
'We would spend a lot of time together, playing around with our magic, making our own little stories and fantasies, having magic duels to test how good we are, of course he went easy on me. He also made four very powerful items when he was there, these are known as the divine items. They have abilities that when utilised properly, can defeat nearly any enemy that stand's in one's way.'
'It turns out that he actually made them for me and gave them to me on my fourteenth birthday as a gift not long after though, he died. You see, our magic needs a tiny piece of our soul to function and his enchantments easily cost him large chunks of his soul. This caused him to lack any life force and simply turn into dust as he made his last enchantment, my immortality.'
Tears began to form in my eyes as the memories flooded back into my unbreakable skull, hands were shaking with emotion and my bracelet began to have a dark blue glow.
'I am forever cursed to be alive with no way of seeing him again, my magic isn't even strong enough for my to perform a Necromancy spell since getting the souls to do that would take forever and he would never forgive me for it.'
"Wait, Necromancy? What is that? And why would you need souls for it?"
'Communication or reanimation of the dead, every time I try to perform it on my own I end up with a wilting flower in my hand and being exhausted. I realised that if I were to try and actually perform the spell, it could easily use up my entire soul and I would suffer his fate, or go insane trying to live. This is what I have to live with, I miss my cousin every second of my life and have virtually no way of bringing him back.'
My bracelet started to glow a dark red, my emotions were barely kept in check as my hands began to have magic beginning to flow out of it. Anger and frustration filled my body, a sense of hopelessness was an understatement to how I felt towards what I could do.
"I'm sorry about that," Moon said.
'It's fine, I guess I should continue with how it started.'
'A few years after he died, my grandfather began to study something that was entirely new to use. Different realities, they are essentially worlds where things behave in a different way or have different objects in different places like having humans instead of dragons. He was studying this world for a while and one day he was teaching me how to use enchantments to curse an enemy and...he died trying to do so.'
"Oh moons."
'I was a bit shocked at first, but I calmed down and took any traces of his soul to add to my bracelet. I found a book he had and from what I could read from it, he was studying this world but seemed to be afraid of travelling here for some reason. I decided to check this place out, see why he was studying this place in particular and didn't check out other worlds that he could have travelled to, and now here I am, any questions?'
"I have a few, one, what do these divine items do, two, could I see that 'book'? I don't really know what those are, and three, how do you know dragon?"
'Oh sure, there's the divine light,' I thought and pulled out the glowing crystal which shone brightly like the sun.
'My cousin made it to symbolise how no matter what, we should look on the 'bright' side of things.'
I then held the divine darkness in my right hand and the divine calm in my left.
'The blue headband is the divine calm, it can help calm someone down like the name suggests and can also slow down someone's fall or even give someone the power of flight when used properly. It symbolises how we should always keep a level head when dealing with things as powerful as magic.'
'The black cloth is the divine darkness, it has the capabilities to hide someone from anything they knew when worn and can also block virtually any attack. It was seen as how there is no such thing as a perfect person, that no one is perfect and the only way to be at peace is to accept your inner demons.'
'And then there's the divine fury,' I thought and pulled out a orange crystal that was the shaped in a way that it could be placed on the back of someone's hand like a glove.
'It has the ability to quickly empower anyone with a tremendous amount of energy and make them capable of destroying whole mountains with a single punch. However, if used for too long without the divine calm, it will drive the user insane and if kept on for too long, the user will burst into flames.'
'The divine calm also has its disadvantages, if it is kept on for too long without the divine fury nearby then it will cause the user to become narcissistic and could even drive someone insane and kill themselves.'
'The divine darkness and light don't really have any big side effects but the divine light is so bright that it could burn someone if exposed to it's light for too long and the divine darkness tends to absorb light and make the user's vision a bit darker when in day. Though oddly enough, it can give someone night vision at night.'
I then moved my hands and began to focus as a book began to materialise in the air, the book had gold plated edges and the cover was made of a worn out leather with brass inscriptions of the words 'The Incantaio' on the front. I took the book and opened it to reveal the yellowish pages with a strong smell of paper that had been kept for decades with the writing in the pages glowing a dark purple.
'This is a book, it's a bunch of paper that it glued together at the edges and can be opened. It can store much more knowledge than a scroll and be even smaller, this book in enchanted though so I can only seem to read certain parts of it, the rest is simply words swimming around. It has some of his most powerful spells and knowledge on numerous potions, but I can't read all of it so it is only partially useful to me.'
'As to your final question, dragon in my world is called English and is a language that most people know how to speak so I can communicate with you just fine. Though I don't know what's up with the scavengers.'
"Oh, I guess that answers all of my questions."
'Yeah, I'm going to check out the rest of this mountain and probably introduce myself to the rest of the dragons sooner or later, but for now I guess bye.'
"Okay then, bye," Moon said as I walked out of the cave with the divine darkness back on and looked for where the teachers could be now, I would probably be looking for a dragon called Sunny since she seemed pretty harmless.
While I was walking down the corridors, I heard a something tap against stone like footsteps, only it was paced like it was two legs wearing shoes and not the sound of a dragon's four feet with talons. The sound was coming from behind me and it seemed to be getting louder every second while I could start to hear someone's breathing.
I turned around to dee who the figure was, the walls glowed a familiar indigo as the figure was wearing a purple cloak and took off the hood to reveal a girl with straight violet hair and eyes that glowed indigo to match it.
"Hello Viribus, I am Dolor."
