Ruby stares at her mother's grave for a good minute and a half as drones around her capture the moment until…
*Sniffle*
"Wait… is she actually going to cry?" The Director saw through his monitor and now slowly realizing his mistake for letting the prop team do the grave.
"Oh goddammit," The Director pinched his nose and grabbing a nearby walkie-talkie "Summer, your kid is going to cry over a fake grave of you."
"I'm already on it." Summer said through the walkie-talkie.
"You know, it's kind of messed up you made a grave of Summer." Qrow speaking through the same channel as them.
"Blame the prop team for making it extremely realistic." The Director shifting the blame to the prop designers. "When I said 'make a grave', I did not mean a full-on representation of her dead mother, so that's entirely their fault that they wanted to do the grave and making it realistic enough ."
"Still your fault since you suggested it first." Qrow quipped back to him before turning off his radio to help out Summer eliminate most of the Grimm around the vicinity.
"Wait Qrow! Tell Summer to not kill… all… the… Grimm." The Director became increasingly more disappointed as he watched through the monitor as Qrow and Summer pretty much eradicate every single Grimm in the area and watched the corpses slowly fade into nothing before his very eyes. Summer then comforted her daughter after cleaning up the Grimm.
"Goddammit, now we need to move." The Director pinched the bridge of his nose out of frustration. Grabbing a nearby microphone and announcing "All right everyone pack up. The Grimm in this area has been killed by our huntsman and huntress cause of my early onset of dementia. Camera crew, pack up the drones and refuel them. Prop team, grab the grave, we're not leaving that there."
"Uhm… Sir?" The Director's assistant said as she came up from behind trying to grab his attention. "What Lillia? Can't you see I'm busy here." Director annoyingly said to his assistant as he was getting a bit mad from the events that have now transpired today.
"Sir the grave the prop team made is an actual grave." Lillia deadpanned.
It took a good couple of seconds for the director to register what his assistant just said before rebooting his brain after it failed to process what he just heard.
"Excuse you?"
"Sir the grave the prop team made is made of actual stone and marble, they carved it out and planted in the ground like an actual grave." Lillia remarked as she said it monotonously. An awkward silence filled the air between them.
"…"
"…"
"Ohhhh... so that's what the small crane is for..." the Director realized and took a deep breath "Lillia… you're meaning to tell me is that the prop designers went ahead bought actual stone and marble, carved and chiseled it, and dug a hole to plant it?" The Director, now feeling his blood pressure rising, but is still not convinced that the prop designers could be that stupid to actually try and build an actual gravestone.
"Lillia, please tell me your fucking joking. Could they not have made it out of paper mache? Cause now I get it why they rented a small crane!" The Director's voice went from 0 to 100 when he pieced two and two together, now massaging his temples, as he dangles from a string of hope that the prop team is not that stupid and Lillia is just kidding around.
"Sir, at least they made a grave and a really good one too if it fooled Ruby." Lillia complimented the prop team as she tried to salvage the situation but ended up making it worse as the Director turned his head and glared at her.
"Lillia, have you not heard the term 'post-production'?" the Director hissed the last part as his right eye was twitching uncontrollably. "It fooled Ruby is that what you compliment on Lillia!? It fooled Summer Rose's daughter. It fooled Ruby into thinking she was dead. That's not something to compliment, by Gods of Light and Dark, that's messed up of you, Lillia. Next thing I'll know they'll steal a mech from Atlas." the Director ranted as he exhaled while gripping his forehead as Lillia stared at her boss with a bead of sweat trickling down her forehead, she thought she was going to die right then and there. "Could you call up Charles, Lillia?"
"Yes, sir" She complied quickly with unease on her smile. After a few minutes, Charles, the lead prop designer, came up to the Director's trailer with an oblivious smile plastered on his face.
"What up, Direct?" Charles cheerfully greeted the Director who was glaring at him with anger fueling his stare.
"Charles..." the Director hatefully glared at his lead prop designer "Where did you get the budget to rent a small crane?"
"From our budget, Sir."
"For what purpose?" the Director silently praying it was not for the grave.
"Oh for the truck we're using to put and carry our stuff," Charles said as the Director's fist opened up little by little as he started to calm down by a bit.
"Oh, and also to specifically carry the grave because it's too heavy," Charles added, the Director's fist closed in on itself and cracked a few bones in it. 'This is it. This is where I'm going to actually die.'
"You actually built that out of stone and marble." the Director still dumbfounded at that fact.
"Yep, we're pretty proud of it actually." Charles boasted
"Could you not have made it with paper mache?"
"Nope, too boring."
'You sick bastard, you tricked a little girl into thinking her mother is actually dead.' the Director felt even more sorry for Ruby as he took a deep breath.
"Do you have a receipt on all the things you have bought?" the Director asked one last question and Charles complied pulling the receipt from his pockets and gave it to his boss.
The Director looks at the receipt and at just one glance of it and he's already feeling the onset of a stroke coming to take his life away from his miserable predicament.
'He spent 7000 Lien on our already strained budget of 20000 Lien?!' He thought as he was experiencing multiple brain cells dying.
The Director just screamed helplessly.
Take One
"Ruby in this scene all you need to do is walk slowly through the snow-covered forest with your cloak wrapped around you all looking down and slightly depressed. Your Mom and your Uncle are at stand-by to help you out at a moment's notice." The Director giving out Ruby's instruction for this scene through the drone's speakers.
"Okay, Ruby hood up,"
"Wait? Hood up? ...In the middle of the night? "
"Red Riding Hood, Ruby: It's an icon. C'mon have people not looked at you and said 'oh you look like that fairytale character that I read to my child or got told as a child.' or something along those lines but enough about that we're burning moonlight."
'Do I really look like her?' she pondered 'Anyway, this should be easy enough.' Ruby thought to herself as she wrapped her cloak around her body and readied herself.
"Annnnd… action!"
Ruby slowly walked through the forest sorrowful as beowolves in the background ran... as she hit something hard in her way
*THUD*
The sound echoed a bit through the forests as she fell down on her back with her feet dangling up. Her left foot was twitching like it's trying to come back alive and separate from its host but it can't.
The Director and his assistant facepalmed at what just happened.
Summer and Qrow just saw what happened and began chuckling as they got down from their vantage point and began walking towards Ruby who just walked and faceplanted into a tree and fell down on her back.
"Cut!" The Director said as he pinched his nose from the stupidity, grabbing the walkie-talkie "Summer, Qrow quit laughing and help out Ruby, you know there's Grimm around the corner."
"Yeah, yea- " Summer snorted midway replaying the events that just happened in her head. 'I'm okay it's not fun… hehe.' Summer shook her head and quickly pushed down her laughter to see her if her daughter was okay.
The Director took control of his drone and met with the 3 of them. One of those three mentioned is laying on the ground with a red marking on her face indicating where she got hit with her face looking unimpressed at what she's done.
"One question Ruby, how? How did you not see a tree?" The Director asked Ruby.
"How about YOU...stupid oversized cloak- do it and-and see how you fare BETTER?!" Ruby shouted while disoriented now blushing from both embarrassment and anger. Ruby stood back up and letting her aura heal the injuries she sustained.
"Chill Kid, it's just an accident even though it was funny." Qrow remarked with a crooked smile coming back up due to his brain replaying the memory again.
Ruby turned around to face her Uncle and used Crescent Rose extending its shaft but keeping its compact form as a makeshift bat and winded up a strike straight into his Uncle's groin and walked off. Summer gave chase to her daughter trying to apologize for laughing.
Qrow let out the most bloodcurdling scream ever known to man with the Director's drone picking it up and peaking. The Director and his assistant winced at the sound Qrow produced.
"Isn't Qrow's semblance, Bad luck?" Lillia asked as she rubs her right ear.
"Yeah, but I don't think that applies here."
…
Take Two
Ruby walked through the forest sorrowful as beowolves in the background ran…
Until she tripped on a rock, losing all sense of balance due to her vision getting obscured by her hood and screamed face-first into the snow.
"I hate this job…" Ruby muffled as her face is still stuck on the snow.
"Get used to it Ruby." The Director's drone flew right next to her and spoke out in its speaker mode.
Ruby, who is still laying down, tilted her head sideways only to see her mother and uncle laughing like there's no tomorrow.
"I'll cut their paycheck if that makes you feel better." Director now feeling sorry for her.
"I want you to sign my adoption papers instead..."
Take One
Ruby gets ready for the confrontation, with her hood up and stance straight she is waiting on Summer and Qrow to bring the pack of beowolves to her.
Summer and Qrow come into sight as beowolves tried to catch up to them. Summer then used her semblance to grab Qrow and let Ruby deal with the Grimm.
The Beowolf closed the gap and tried to slash Ruby only to slash fleeting rose petals where Ruby was once was. Camera drones panned up for a perfect shot of Ruby twirling to face the beowolves beneath her with the shattered moon on the background. Ruby then transformed Crescent Rose into its Rifle form and shot one of the beowolves.
*CLICK*
Well at least tried to…
'Oh crud, the bullets jammed Crescent Rose!' Ruby panicked as she tried to use her semblance in the air to get away from the pack before she landed. Ruby takes off successfully in the air leaving a trail of rose petals.
Ruby momentarily breathe out a sigh of relief in her thoughts before she hit something hard with her head with an audible clang that can be heard as she landed not so gracefully faceplanting and skidding through the snow.
Summer and Qrow were already dealing against beowolves in the background as the Director's drone flew right next to Ruby.
"That drone is gonna be coming out your paycheck, you know that?"
Ruby groaned.
…
Take Two
After Ruby successfully recovered from her self-inflicted concussion. Ruby once again wait for Summer and Qrow to bring beowolves to her as she idly standing still looking at the horizon. Once the first beowolf came in close, she dodged slash with her semblance appearing once more with the shattered moon in the background. Ruby transformed Crescent Rose into its Rifle form and shot one of the beowolves.
Ruby killed a couple more beowolves down before using the recoil of her sniper to jump back and transformed Crescent Rose into its scythe configuration.
*WHIRR*
And with an audible clang within her weapon, the mechashift failed midway…
'Oh sh-' Ruby thoughts were immediately halted as she got grabbed and saved by a white-cloaked Rose. "Gottcha, Ruby." Summer smiled as she carried her daughter as a newlywed.
'This is Uncle Qrow's fault.' Ruby she glared her uncle from far away as she got carried away by her mother while Uncle Qrow took care of the beowolves.
…
Take Three
Now that she got Crescent Rose fully lubricated. She checked the magazine and make sure that's fully loaded and checked her pouch to make sure the Gravity mag rounds are actually there.
"You got everything sorted Ruby?" the Director's drone hovered next to her to reassure everything that she needs is there. "Yeah, it was stupid of me not maintaining her and forgot my Uncle is Qrow Branwen." Ruby said as she scolded herself and hearing a 'hey!' from her uncle from his vantage point as she almost got hit by beowolves in the last take. "Oh don't beat yourself up over it as long as you learned from them." The Director encouraged Ruby through the speakers.
"Sir you don't even do that yourself." Lillia pointed out, standing beside him.
"Shut up Lillia."
Ruby once again readied herself for the beowolves coming towards her courtesy of Summer Rose and Qrow Branwen.
Dodging the first slash with her semblance disappearing into a cloud of rose petals and appearing above the pack. Ruby shot Crescent Rose and killed a beowolf with it with a headshot and killed a couple of beowolves before using the recoil of the sniper rifle to jump back and transform Crescent Rose into its Scythe configuration. She then uses the scythe head as an anchor for her sniper and killed a couple more beowolves, pulling out the scythe and swinging into the Grimm cutting it in half. She then stylishly killed a lot more beowolves reaping them into shreds and using the sniper rifle to kill a lot more beowolves in front of her while the scythe protected her from the incoming beowolves that immediately get disintegrated the moment they got near. Ruby then jumped back with the use of recoil and switched out her current magazine with a Gravity dust infused one that she grabbed out her pouch. Ruby used the immense recoil of the Gravity mag and dashed around the battlefield cutting beowolves at extreme speed left and right killing all of them good thing the drones are fast enough to capture her doing that and it ended with Ruby now striking a pose with Crescent Rose along with the shattered moon behind the backdrop as ammo casings start falling from the sky and almost all of them landed on the snow.
One actually hit her in the head.
'Don't cry, keep it together, don't mess this up, big hero moment right here.' She kept reminding herself as she tried to clench her jaw as the drones kept circling her.
"Cut!"
Ruby burst into comical tears as she rubbed where one of the bullets landed on top of her head. She used her remaining aura to numb the pain.
Summer and Qrow clapped at her performance.
"And that's a wrap. Well done Ruby." The Director flew next to her and spoke out the drone. Director looking proud at her young actress/huntress-in-training.
"Thank you, Director. May I rest now, sir?" Ruby accepted the compliment still rubbing the spot where the bullet landed.
"You may." The Director gave Ruby permission to rest.
Ruby fell down face-first into the snow.
"Hey, uh, Mister Director?" Summer hesitantly asked as she and the Director walked side by side together with Qrow trailing behind them. The Crew gathered and started tidying up to catch the bullhead ride in the next hour.
"Yeah, Summer? Is this about your daughter? Oh, I'm so sorry that I have put her through all that." Director apologized to the white-cloaked mother as the crew started to pack up and get away from this Grimm infested Forest.
"Uh. It's not about that actually. I was just wondering why didn't you do this in an actual studio." Summer asked the Director. The Director looked at her and just sighed disappointedly to himself.
"The thing is we can't actually buy one with the budget given to us." Director said dejectedly to her. Summer looked confused because how come they don't have the budget to buy a studio yet can afford all of this? It baffled her.
"Sir, may I ask how much did the company give to you?" Summer asked the Director who became more and more depressed.
He broke down crying at the thought of only having 20000 Lien as a budget.
AN: Hello everyone! Welcome to RWBY: Take Two! You get to see Behind The Scenes footage of whatever the hell happens during recordings.
This is of course inspired by AnimationNut's Fic Phineas Ferb: Take Two!. This fic is still set on Remnant but everything in the show is a work of fiction with the exception of Grimm, Aura, Semblances, you name it. I'm still working out on the world-building of this version of Remnant but you guys can also point it out on the reviews. Leave a review and your criticism on what I should improve upon, it's greatly appreciated. Currently, I'm still drafting the White Trailer Bloopers so point somethings and I'll maybe add them.
