Chapter 4: Way out

Chris POV

I've woken up to being surrounded by fire except for a small path on my right. I sit up but that's when the dizziness hits me, forcing me to lay down again. After awhile, I lift my head up again looking at my body and I can see a piece of metal, I don't know what, sticking right through my right lung. If I remove that, then I'm gonna die with a failed lung. I try to sit up again and I'm able to look around and I start to remember what happened. That Mark guy set off that bomb, probably a trap, he knew we were looking for him. I look over to the general location where I tackled him and I see him laying dead beside me. I feel so tired and drained that I want to just lay down again, but I have to keep pushing and I have to find my team and anyone else in this building, I begin to assess my injuries. Including the piece of metal in me, I see that my right arm is probably broken, I have a concussion, a lot of deep cuts and severe bruising on my body, lastly I'm pretty sure I have a bruised rib cage with possibly a few broken ribs to add to that.

"Anyone there" I shout, which makes me cough due to the smoke, I expect no answer but then I hear a scream

"Chris?! I'm to your right. Are you ok?!" Deacon shouts followed by coughing, it's DEACON, he's alive!

I immediately stand up and almost fall due to my head but I make my way to Deacon. It took awhile but I see him in a similar hide out like mine. He's definitely injured, probably just like me, minus the piece of mental and that his left arm is broken not his right. He sits up and smiles but it fades when he looks at my rib cage.

"Chris are you ok?" He asks and I nod though it must have not been convincing because his stare doesn't waiver.

"Deacon I'm alright, besides you don't look much better" I say and I reach my left hand out to grab his right, he stands and we start to look for a way out.
