The story below is based on the characters from Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir. I own nothing of the show. This is purely fictitious and written for the enjoyment of my readers and myself. All rights go to the proper parties.

Welcome to chapter two of this story. I'm not sure how many chapters this will be, but I plan to submit at least one everyday until it's done. Please let me know if you guys are enjoying this story so far or not. This chapter is a bit longer than the first one and centers around Marichat.

Cat Noir bounds across the rooftops of Paris, annoyed at Ladybug's refusal to answer a simple question. He's headed towards the Dupain-Cheng bakery to talk to Marinette about Multimouse. He's never talked to her about her superhero identity before now, but he needs to know why Ladybug has replaced her.

He stops on a rooftop a few buildings from the bakery and hides behind a chimney. If he's going to talk to Marinette about Multimouse, then he needs to decide on what to say first. He doesn't want to barge into her room and demand that she shares all her secrets. No, he needs to think first and proceed carefully. Besides, he needs to wait to make sure her parents are in bed before jumping on her balcony. We don't want a repeat of Weredad. Cat Noir shivers. Weredad was not a fun akuma to fight, not that most akumas are fun, Weredad was especially bad.

Cat Noir settles down one the rooftop with his back to the chimney and begins planning out how to talk to Marinette. He doesn't notice the red streak that passes by the rooftop he's on.

~ Meanwhile ~

Ladybug rushes towards home desperately trying to beat Cat Noir to her balcony while also keeping an eye out for the leather clad cat. As she comes close to her home, she sees the familiar cat resting on a nearby rooftop. He seems to be lost in thought, so taking a chance, Ladybug quickly zooms by the rooftop holding Cat Noir and lands on her own balcony. She quickly slips inside her room before detransforming.

Tikki flies from Marinette's earrings and watches as Marinette panics to hide any potential sign of the miracle box, the kwamis, or of her obsession with a certain blonde model. Tikki interrupts her panic by flying into Marinette's face and speaking, "Calm down Marinette. You've been very careful. There's no way that Cat Noir will find anything out in the open that will tell him you're Ladybug. He's not going to rummage through your drawers and peek at your diary. Cat Noir is a gentleman."

Marinette stops her frantic maneuvers and sighs as she sits on her chaise lounge, "I know Tikki. He was asking about Multimouse though and now he wants to ask Marinette me about why I can't be Multimouse anymore. What am I supposed to tell him Tikki?"

Tikki flies to Marinette and smiles softly, "You tell him what you believe to be the right thing. You're the guardian now. It's up to you to decide what to tell him and what not to. He cares about you Marinette. As both Ladybug and as Marinette. He deserves some kind of explanation as to why you can't be Multimouse anymore. I'm sure you'll come up with something to say to him."

Marinette smiles softly back at Tikki. Her kwami always knows the right thing to say to cheer her up or give her some confidence. "Thank you Tikki, I'll-" Marinette begins before hearing a thump on her balcony. She looks to her trap door just as Cat Noir knocks softly. Marinette heads to the trap door leading to her balcony and unlocks it for the black cat.

Cat Noir smiles at her, "May I come in Purrrrincess?" He purrs.

"Of course, Kitty. What can I do for one of Paris' heroes?" Marinette responds, she smiles brightly at Cat Noir as he climbs onto Her bed and follows her down the ladder and into her room.

"Well, I just finished patrol with Ladybug and I was wondering if you could help answer a question that has been bothering me today." Cat Noir states as he follows Marinette to her chaise lounge.

Marinette takes a seat on her chaise before patting the space nester to her, inviting Cat Noir to sit too, and then responding, "I'm not sure how much help I can be in answering your question, Cat, but I'll do my best."

Cat Noir takes the seat next to Marinette and smiles shyly at her before adverting his gaze to look at his gloved hands in his lap. "Well, I tried to ask Ladybug about it, and she didn't really answer my question. I was hoping that you might be more willing to talk about it than she is." Cat Noir admits before eyeing Marinette nervously.

Marinette sighs quietly and restrains herself from showing irritation at Cat Noir's persistence. "I'm not sure that I will be able to answer a question that even Ladybug can't answer." She responds.

"It's not that she can't answer, it's that she won't answer." Cat retorts.

"I'm sure that Ladybug would answer you if she could, Kitty. She cares about you a lot and she clearly trusts you with her life." Marinette places her hand on Cat Noir's shoulder trying to comfort him as she speaks. "If Ladybug says she can't answer your question, then there must be a good reason for that." She finishes.

"I want to believe that. I really do, but I can't see her reasoning here. Marinette, why weren't you Multimouse today? Why did she choose someone else?" Cat Noir turns towards Marinette and looks into her eyes. He's focused solely on her and all he wants is an answer to his question.

Marinette breaks eye contact from Cat Noir. His intense gaze making her stomach turn at the inevitable lies she will have to spew in order to keep her identity safe. After a few moments she turns back to look at Cat Noir, once again meeting his gaze, before responding, "I'm not supposed to be Multimouse anymore. I broke the biggest rule and revealed my identity carelessly."

"You only revealed yourself in front of me. That's not a good enough reason. I told Ladybug this too, nearly every other hero has had their identities revealed to Hawkmoth and they still get to be miraculous holders. Why not you?" He demands.

Marinette looks away again before speaking, "Maybe she couldn't find me. I went to hide underground once I saw the mini mayors climbing into peoples heads. Maybe she chose someone else because I was too hard to find." Marinette stands from the lounge and walks to her desk. She sits in her desk chair and turns herself towards Cat Noir as she waits for his response.

Cat Noir takes a moment to ponder the possibility Marinette presented to him. He taps his chin in consideration before speaking once again, "I don't think that was her reasoning. I talked to Ladybug earlier tonight and she seemed completely against you being Multimouse or any other hero again. I just don't understand why she won't allow you to help us out again. You were amazing as Multimouse. You defeated Kwamibuster on your own and saved both of us. You wore more than one miraculous on your first day as a hero. You had to have met the previous guardian of the miraculous too, considering that Ladybug was without a miraculous and you were being carried by all the kwamis. So why won't she choose you again? We would be unstoppable with your help." Cat Noir ranted.

Marinette was speechless. It's clear that Cat Noir has given quite a bit of thought to what happened with Kwamibuster and how Marinette received the mouse miraculous in the first place. She didn't think about him putting together that she would have met the Master Fu. Or that he would notice how she used more than one miraculous. She misjudged how perceptive her kitty cat could be. Marinette swallows hard before speaking, "I'm not as great as you think, Kitty. I'm clumsy, awkward, and I'm late all the time. I'm not-"

"Stop right there." Cat Noir interrupts. "I saw you as Multimouse, Princess. I witnessed how amazing you can be as a hero. Yes you can be clumsy in your day to day life, but that's part of your charm. You're amazing Marinette, and I won't accept anyone saying otherwise. Including you." He finishes.

Marinette looks away from his intense stare hoping that he doesn't notice the blush creeping up on her cheeks. How can he say such great things. She wonders to herself. How am I supposed to respond to that? She peeks out of the corner of her eye and sees Cat Noir's signature smirk. He definitely noticed her blushing. She clears her throat and sits up straight as she finally responds, "I'm not Multimouse anymore because I can't be Multimouse anymore. It's not safe. I'm not needed anyway. Polymouse was amazing. She handled all the mini Malediktators and seems to be a great addition to the team. You don't need me Cat Noir."

Cat Noir looks at Marinette intently before sighing, "Polymouse did great, but Multimouse was better. I don't know why you and Ladybug both believe it's so dangerous for you to be a hero again, yes hero work is dangerous by itself, but both of you are clearly hinting at more than just the typical danger. I don't know why you and Ladybug both feel the need to keep this from me, but I'll let it go. For now. But this conversation isn't over. I plan to find out why Ladybug has removed you from our team without even giving you a real chance. I also plan to find out why you agree with her decision." Cat Noir declares before standing up. He turns to Marinette before continuing, "I'll be back another night, Princess," he leans down and grasps her hand in his before kissing her knuckles softly, "be ready to talk some more. Goodnight, Marinette. I'll see you soon." With those departing words, Cat Noir climbs the ladder to Marinette's bed and exits out the trap door. He doesn't notice the beet red princess hiding her face in her hands.
