As Bo-Katan continued to stare at the holos of security, blueprints and potential plans, she wanted to scream. Mandalorians were notorious for coming up with nearly-impenetrable security systems. But that wasn't helpful when she needed to break into one!
She wasn't going to scream though. She just stared at the glass of the table in front of her as if it was going to melt under the force of her fury. A few shots of scotch once she was done here sounded like a good idea.
She had a plan. She had a GOOD plan, that would probably work. That wasn't the problem. The problem was that in order for it to succeed, she had to employ the help of non-Mandalorians. And not just any non-Mandalorians.
Jetti.
The hologram of Korkie that hovered in front of her sighed. "We don't have to break her out completely. If we can just get a message out-"
"I'm not spending all this manpower and time for just a message. If we're doing this, we're getting both you and her off of Mandalore. We're not risking my men's lives unless it's worth it."
"Do you really have the numbers to do that?"
"Not alone." She gritted her teeth and shoved down her pride. "I'm going to ask the Jedi for help."
"Why the Jedi?"
"Because I can't think of any other option and I am NOT asking the Republic!"
"Why not ask the other clans? I'm sure you could get them to help."
"I am NOT admitting weakness to the other clans. I would never live it down. Clan Kryze would never live it down. It's bad enough that I need help in the first place, but I am not going to get it by crawling to the other clans and begging."
"Well, okay I guess. Why the Jedi?"
"They'll help when I tell them Maul is here. The enemy of my enemy is my friend. I can't think of a bigger enemy of the Sith than the Jedi."
"Maul's a Sith?"
"He has a red laser sword. Close enough."
She was gritting her teeth so hard through the entire conversation with the Jetti that she swore she heard something crack. They were so infuriatingly serene throughout the whole thing. How could they be so calm?
Until she dropped her bombshell. She was a little proud of herself for shattering their calm.
"Maul is leading Death Watch."
Kenobi started, hand falling away from where it was stroking his beard.
The bald one in the middle seemed to do most of the talking. "Maul is dead."
"Sure was moving an awful lot." She leveled an even look at him.
"Why are you requesting our help?" This Jedi wasn't human, she couldn't remember the species name, but they had two brains for some reason.
"Believe me, I don't want to. But Maul and his men are too much for us to take on alone and I am not crawling to the Republic."
"We are part of the Grand Army of the Republic. The difference is arbitrary at best."
Kenobi sighed. "It matters to the Mandalorians. So are we going to help?"
"How is that a question? Are you really considering just leaving Maul alone? He has control of all of Mandalore, and he has Satine in custody." Bo pressed her lips into a thin line, not-quite-glaring at the one in the middle. "I won't take no for an answer."
The Jetti sighed. "Master Kenobi, you've got the most experience with the Mandalorians. What's your opinion?"
"Well, Master Windu, if she says she won't take no for an answer, we won't hear the end of it until we agree. And she is right. We can't just leave Maul to his own devices. Who knows what he'd do if he thinks he can get away with it. Especially with our tenuous hold in the Outer Rim."
"We don't have the current manpower to sustain such an endeavor." Two-Brains countered. "If we were to direct troops to Mandalore, we would have to pull them from somewhere else."
She sighed internally. "I'm not asking for your troops. I'm asking for Jedi."
They didn't look pleased at her interruption, but none of them voiced it. "It's the same problem. If we send Jedi to Mandalore, we'd have to transfer them from somewhere else."
"You guys don't look like you're doing much."
Their faces said she had them there.
"We'll…see what we can do."
'We'll see what we can do' turned into half a battalion plus three Jedi to help her out. And then somehow, infuriatingly, Bo managed to crash into the side of a a cliff because she was trying to fly and instruct a clone and wasn't looking where she was going, ended up with a concussion, and missed the entire fight. She'd insisted that if she could fly drunk, she could fly with a concussion. It didn't work. She was stuck in the medbay without even a commlink to keep her updated
Her plan worked though. Maul was ousted, even though nobody knew where he went, Satine and Korkie were safe, and Mandalore was back in the hands of the Mandalorians.
She was still pissy about the fact that she hadn't gotten to shoot anyone.
