Feelings were complicated. This was no mystery to Ben. He was currently experiencing this as he had fallen hard for his best friend
Mal
Her name made his heart flutter and he couldn't think straight when she was around him. She made him feel this type of way, which he couldn't explain. He was fed up of playing this game with her. He had feelings for her (Strong intense feelings at that). He was pretty sure she felt the same way towards him. Or she was just playing with him.
In one way this was very much a possibility. She wouldn't do that to him, would she? She wouldn't hurt him like that. He was sure. Again, she was new to this whole love and feelings thing that she mightn't even realise she's leading him on.
He wanted to get it off his chest. He wanted to scream out into the intercom at Auradon Prep that he was in love with her. Now that would be pretty dramatic and an incredible story to tell his future kids but he would have to die of embarrassment if the feeling wasn't mutual and there was a fifty fifty chance of that happening. Declaring his feelings for her didn't seem the right thing to do. Not yet anyways. There would be plenty of time to do that later.
He didn't care anymore. One way or another, he was going to tell her. Whether he gets the outcome he wants or not. He wouldn't know until he plucks up the courage but you only live once and if she rejects him then there is nothing more he can do except get over it. Which wouldn't be easy.
" I love you " too straight forward
" I'm madly in love with you and I have been ever since I first laid eyes on you "
a bit creepy, Benjamin
" the thing is...um...I like you...like...like you " too uncertain, that's enough to scare myself off. Let alone the girl I love.
Ben was practicing his speech in front of the mirror in his dorm room. He looked like an idiot and if anyone walked in, he would never hear the end of it but she was worth all this trouble. He has never had trouble with getting a girl before. She was different.
" No..no..no " Ben threw his hands in the air frustrated. Nothing sounded right and conveyed how he really felt.

Doug had finally asked Evie out on a date. She seemed to like him a lot so Mal supported their relationship like the good friend she was trying to be. They hadn't always seen everything eye to eye but leaving the isle for a chance of redemption gave them the opportunity to do that. They were now dorm mates and their friendship was blossoming quickly. Mal hated her mother for turning her against Evie and her family. Maybe if that never happened, she could've had a real friend back on the isle. There is no point in dwelling on the what if's as she couldn't change that even if she really wanted to. The point is she was here to change her future. She no longer wanted to be a mini Maleficent. She was going to make her own path with her own friends by her side.
Ben
He was the one responsible for all of this. One day Mal would have to find a way to thank him for everything. As he has truly changed her life and most importantly her friends lives for the better. Jay found tourney, Carlos found a love in animals, Evie learnt that using her brain is not a bad thing and if a guy doesn't see that than he's not worth it and Mal, she's found love and friendship. Both in her old allies and in a new face. She's found love and friendship in the same guy
Ben
She didn't know too much about feelings but whenever she was around him, she felt happier, more confident and he brought out a different side in her. He saw her for who she is and not as her mother's daughter and he was the first person here to do so. He treated her as an individual and he told her that her mother's actions didn't define her.
She liked him. She thought she did anyways. She didn't know why but she was so happy when she heard that Ben and Audrey broke up. She felt a bit guilty at first for feeling that way and somewhat selfish but she couldn't help it. She was raised a villain but as time went by she couldn't help but feel bad for wanting Ben and her broken up. She wanted to be with Ben. Simply. She just ignored it. Brushed her feelings under a rug to hide away from the fear of rejection. She's never felt this way before, she was scared of nothing. Oh so she thought.
Anyways Ben being single meant nothing. They could realistically never be together. He was a soon to be king and she was a misfit from the other side of the bridge. Why would Ben be interested in someone like her when he could have any girl he wanted? Besides losing him would be worse than any punishment her mother ever gave her. She was settling. She would keep his friendship even if a part of her always wanted more. Losing him would be the worst faith of all.
Tuesday 10.45 am
Biology sucked
The teacher hates me
None of my friends are here
Chad is sat next to me, making my ears bleed at every word that comes out of his mouth
Tuesday's sucked in general. I only see Ben once today if I'm lucky. And that's not for another four hours, hoping he doesn't get pulled away for another surprise council meeting. Let the boy live, he's only 16.
Mal walked out of the class slowly, hoping that she would bump into Ben accidentally on her way to Remedial Goodness 101 with no other than Fairy Godmother.
Mal being her clumsy self bumped into someone. Not Ben. Unfortunately. They most definitely did not want to see her as she may have been the reason that their life has been turned upside down. Princess Audrey. His ex - girlfriend. Queen Bee of Auradon Prep. Someone she should be scared of.
" Oh Mal, just the person I wanted to see " Audrey said with her signature fake smile
I hate her
" Time we have a little girl talk, okay? " She pursed her lips
" I would love to except I have class in like five minutes " Mal said sarcastically. Without her saying a word, she already knew what Audrey was about to say.
" I won't keep you long, just a minute or two "
" Fine. What's up? " Mal groaned modeling Audrey's fake smile.
" You tell me, slut. You just can't keep away can't you ! " Audrey said with a furious tone
Oh this is about Ben. Shocker!
" I have no idea what you are talking about " Mal said emotionless
" Oh shut it, you know damn well what I'm talking about. I don't believe it for a second. Me and Ben were perfect before you showed up. You've turned him against me. Homewrecker! I was to become his queen and if you think he would ever choose you, you need to wake up " Audrey ranted
" I have nothing to do with that. I'm honoured you think I'm capable of that but weren't you two already having issues? " Mal teased
" Listen up, you're new. You don't know me. I'll give you a final warning. BACK OFF, because you really have no idea what I am capable of and I will ruin you and you will regret messing with me "
" Audrey- "
" QUIET " she shrieked
" You can talk to Ben all you what, you can hang out with him, you can even love him but you will never ever have him. How can someone like Ben love somebody like you? " Audrey said harshly
Mal knew Audrey was rude but she didn't think she was mean. Back on the isle, Mal probably would've longed to meet someone like her. Audrey liked to play dirty and Mal usually would challenge that except she had decided to be good, they all had and they didn't want to be given a one way ticket back home.
" I am not afraid to take Ben down with you! Stay away from him if you want him safe " Audrey flicked her hair into Mal's face and walked off to join her cheerleader friends.
Mal stood in the middle of the hallway frozen with shock. Surely, she was joking. No way she would actually threaten Ben. Right? Mal may have only been in Auradon briefly but she could already tell that Audrey was a piece of work and considering their family history. She and her would never get along. She couldn't risk Ben's safety though. Even if it was an empty threat. If she was any bit serious, she couldn't risk it. She would never forgive herself if he got hurt because of her.
" M? It's time for class, we'll be late " Evie grabbed her friend by the hand and they walked to class together
Good luck focusing in class now, M
