Chapter 27

AN: Sorry about the delay again. I'm hoping to spend all weekend writing so I can get more chapters written and update quicker.

At the 16 Antonio, Richard, Barba, Carisi, and Jet have been joined by Kathleen and Eli as once they found out what is going on they wanted to be close as Alex matters to both of them. While Eli doesn't know Alex as well as his three siblings what she has done for him in recent weeks, especially letting him spend time at Vita Nova means a lot to him, so when he found out what is going on he wanted to be close.

"We should have heard something by now," Antonio says, as he paces back and forth.

"There's a lot of reasons why we haven't heard," Richard says, trying to help Antonio, but he is also worried.

"And how many of them are good?" Antonio asks, and Richard looks to Barba for help. While he would like to help his godson Barba can't think of anything to say that will help him; as he can't think of anything that will help him, so he just opens his mount a couple of times and closes it.

"Hey," Kathleen says, blocking his path so that Antonio is forced to stop pacing, as she realizes Barba doesn't know what to say; which she is pretty sure may be the first time ever. "We don't know anything yet, don't go to the worse, it won't help," Kathleen says, and Antonio gives a slight nod, after seeing the nod Kathleen hugs him.

As Kathleen hugs Antonio the others see Olivia, Elliot, Fin, Rollins, Kat, Bell, and Garland arrive back in the squad room as they walk in Barba, Carisi, Richard, Jet, and Liz all realize that they have bad news.

"Antonio," Olivia says, and Antonio breaks apart from Kathleen and walks towards Olivia.

"Kathleen? Eli? What are you doing here?" Elliot asks as he wasn't expecting to see more of his kids.

"Alex is missing, we needed to be here," Kathleen explains simply, like it should be obvious, because she thinks it should be, and Eli nods in agreement with his sister, causing Elliot to once again realize how little he knows.

"Did you find Mami?" Antonio asks Olivia, even though he knows that if she had found Alex, she would be with her.

"No Tonio, we didn't," Olivia answers, and tears come to Antonio's eyes.

"Did you find anything?" Antonio asks, his voice barely a whisper.

"We found the van, it was empty," Olivia admits, and she takes a deep breath which tells everyone who doesn't know what is going on that whatever she is about to say is bad. "But Tonio, there was blood," Olivia says, knowing that she owes him the truth even though she would like to protect him.

"How much blood?" Antonio asks, tears rolling down his cheeks, asking the question that Olivia was desperately hoping he wouldn't ask.

"A lot, CSU is testing it," Olivia explains, and as soon as she speaks it looks like Antonio's legs give out from under him and so Olivia catches him before he can completely fall to the ground. "I've got you, I've got you," Olivia promises Antonio as she holds him as he cries. "Let's go to my office," Olivia says, and with some difficulty, she leads Antonio into her office, closing the door behind them. Once they are in the office Olivia leads Antonio over to the couch where she continues to hold Antonio as he cries.

As Olivia and Antonio go into Olivia's office Barba notices Richard go into the break room, and basically slam the door behind him. While Elliot it focused on Eli, trying to get him to leave which he is refusing to do, which doesn't surprise his sisters or Barba, Barba follows Richard.

"Do you want to talk?" Barba asks Richard who is punching the vending machine, as he walks into the break room.

"It's not just Elizabeth that Alex gave a new life to," Richard says as Barba closes the door behind him.

"You don't have to tell me that," Barba responds, as he knows that Alex changed his life.

"A couple of years ago I was spiraling, I felt like my life was falling apart… I was struggling with a lot of things," Richard admits, as he hadn't been out of the army long and everything he went through, everything he realized about himself, was deeply effecting him. "One night, Elizabeth and Antonio both refused to go out with me for the third night alone, so I went drinking alone," Richard explains. "I got in a fight, was kicked out of a bar, I was in the gutter, literally," Richard explains. "I didn't want to call Antonio, or one of my sisters… so I called Alex," Richard reveals, honestly, he does not even know why he called her. "I don't even know what I was expecting, but she showed up," Richard explains.

"She always does," Barba says, knowing that.

"She brought me to her apartment, made coffee, and just listened to me," Richard reveals. "Once I had said everything, I had to say she told me that I could continue to spiral, and she'd pick me up if I needed, or I could face my demons, name them, beat them, and she'd help me do that too," Richard explains, revealing what not even Liz and Antonio know. "That's exactly what she did," Richard reveals, knowing he will always be grateful for that. "Rafael, Alex is good, all she's ever done is help whoever needs it no matter the personal cost, she doesn't deserve this," Richard says, looking sad.

"We rarely get what we deserve," Barba says, knowing without a doubt that Alex doesn't deserve all the things she has been through.

"No kidding," Richard says, thinking of both his mother and Alex, neither of them deserving what happened to them.

While Barba and Richard are in the breakroom Olivia and Antonio are in Olivia's office sitting on the couch; Olivia having her arms around Antonio. While Olivia feels like falling apart just as Antonio is doing Olivia knows that she has to hold it together, for both him and Alex.

"I've got you," Olivia promises, having no idea what else to say, and needing to believe that it will help him.

"A few months before Mami and I were able to come back to New York, we were in this little town in the middle of nowhere… I don't even remember where it was," Antonio admits, as a lot of the bad things they went through in WITSEC he has tried to block out. "There was a fair on, and all my friends wanted to go…. I wanted to go," Antonio admits, and Olivia doesn't say anything she just continues to hold him. "I knew what Mami was going to say, but I asked her anyway," Antonio admits. "She saw how much I wanted to go; and she said yes," Antonio reveals. "But you know what she did on the night?" Antonio asks.

"Went too and watched over you from a distance," Olivia says, as even though Alex hasn't told her before she knows Alex well enough to know what would have happened back then.

"She wasn't subtle, so my friends realized, they teased me, but knowing Mami was there made me feel safe," Antonio reveals. "Mami always makes me feel safe, and loved," Antonio reveals.

"I know," Olivia says.

"Mami needs to be okay, Liv," Antonio says, looking at Olivia with a begging look on his face, as he needs to find his mother, and he believes that Olivia is the one who is going to.

"Tonio, your Mami will do everything she can to come home to you, and I will do everything I can to make sure she does," Olivia explains, knowing that she will do everything to make sure of that.

"You and Noah too," Antonio informs Olivia. "I'm not the only one who Mami will do everything she can to come home to," Antonio tells Olivia, and from his voice it is clear that that is okay with him, but before Olivia can say anything in response her phone goes off. "What is it?" Antonio asks, feeling even more worried about the look that is on Olivia's face.

"The blood we found at the warehouse matches Alex's," Olivia reveals, pain in her voice.

"Does that mean she's already dead?" Antonio asks, fearing the answer.

"I don't know," Olivia responds, allowing Antonio to cry on her, as she desperately hopes that even with the large amount of blood that was at the warehouse that Alex is okay.

Out in the squad room Barba is leaving the break room, where Richard still is, trying to calm down, when he sees Liz walking towards him.

"He needs a minute, Liz," Barba tells her, as he assumes that Liz wants to talk to her brother.

"I figured," Liz admits, knowing that she will give her brother the time he needs. "I actually want to talk to you," Liz reveals, and Barba gives her a look as if to say, 'I'm listening,'. "What the others found doesn't make sense," Liz says.

"Liz…." Barba starts to say, but Liz cuts him off.

"I'm serious, just think about it Rafael," Liz says. "Why would Alex use her only tracker on a vehicle? She knows that chances are she would be moved, so she would know that the smart decision would be to keep it hidden on her," Liz explains. "And even if she was concerned that it would be found she would know it would be worth the risk," Liz tells Barba. "Unless…" Liz starts to say, and Barba realizes where Liz's mind has gone.

"You think she has another tracker," Barba realizes, feeling a glimmer off hope.

"Don't you? It's the only thing that makes sense," Liz says, looking hopeful. "Alex didn't hide placing that tracker, which means chances are she assumed that we would see it on a video somehow," Liz explains. "Having a second tracker is the only thing that makes sense," Liz tells Barba.

"Come on," Barba says, and the two of them go running towards the media area. "Jet, you said there were other trackers in the Vita Nova system, are any of the others active?" Barba asks.

"No," Jet answers.

"Can you find where each of them are?" Liz asks.

"I'll try," Jet says as she gets to work.

After a while Barba, Liz and Jet are joined by everyone except for Olivia and Antonio. As Jet works on her computers everyone waits in batted breath in desperate hopes that Jet has found something.

"That's interesting," Jet notes.

"What is it?" Kathleen asks.

"There's another tracker, in a different place from the others, It's active, but I can't seem to access remotely," Jet explains.

"LIV!" Fin calls, and seconds after he does both Liv and Antonio come hurrying out of Olivia's office.

"What's going on?" Olivia asks.

"Liz realized that Alex using her one tracker on the vehicle wouldn't make sense," Barba explains.

"Jet thinks she found another one," Kathleen adds.

"Really?" Antonio asks, feeling a glimmer of hope that if his mother is still alive then they may just find her in time.

"There's a tracker that's in a different place, has a different tracker program, I am attempting to gain remote access so that I can find the location," Jet says as she continues to type.

"How long until you've access it?" Olivia asks, knowing that with how much blood was at the van that every single second will count.

"I really don't know," Jet admits.

"Excuse me," Olivia says, and she walks away from everyone and heads straight to interrogation room two as she needs a minute to herself.

As Olivia walks away from the group Barba, Antonio, and Rollins all look like they would want to following her, but they also know that it's not a good idea.

"I've got her," Elliot says, before walking away before anyone can stop him.

"That's not a good idea," Carisi comments, as he knows Olivia well enough to know that there are times where Olivia needs time alone.

"He knows," Fin reveals. "That's the point," Fin explain as he knows that chances are Elliot is going to push Olivia to let out everything she is feeling. "It's okay," Fin assures everyone and those who don't know Elliot, only know Olivia, aren't sure that he is right. Honestly, Fin knows that chances are Olivia is going to lose it, and after everything he's done to her, all the ways he's hurt her, Elliot deserves the anger he is likely about to get.

After walking away from where the others are Elliot head straight to interrogation two and before walking into the room, he makes sure that the intercom is off, and the blind is down. After assuring that they will have privacy Elliot walks into the room. When he walks into the interrogation room Elliot finds Olivia leaning against the window, looking like she is barely holding it together.

"Liv…" Elliot starts to say.

"Walk away Elliot," Olivia says, as she really doesn't want to deal with him right now.

"Nope, I'm not going to do that," Elliot responds.

"Why not? You've done it before," Olivia responds, not even caring about what she is saying as she is so terrified for Alex.

"I have," Elliot says, not raising to anger even though it is his instinct. "But I'm here now, and I can see that you're losing it, so put it on me," Elliot tells Olivia.

"El…" Olivia starts to say.

"I know, I've missed a hell of a lot, but I also know what Alex means to you, I knew you loved her before you did, so I know what you're feeling right now," Elliot reveals, not mentioning that he didn't understand Olivia's feelings towards Alex. "So put it on me," Elliot says. "I can take it," Elliot tells Olivia.

"No," Olivia says, shaking her head as she feels like any second the dam is going to break.

"Liv," Elliot says, taking a step closer. "Put it on me," Elliot once more says.

"I can't lose Alex," Olivia reveals. "I need her," Olivia reveals. "In the last year we've built something, something incredible," Olivia explains, her voice breaking, as tears well in her eyes. "We can't lose that… I can't lose her," Olivia reveals, and she looks like she is about to completely fall apart. Seeing the look on his old partners face, a look full of heartbreak, Elliot goes to say something, but before he does the door is basically thrown open, revealing Dickie.

"Olivia, Jet thinks she's figured out where the tracker is," Dickie, who volunteered to get his Dad and Olivia, says in a hurried voice.

Feeling a glimmer of hope that maybe, just maybe, they will be able to find Alex in time, Olivia runs out of the interrogation room with Dickie, without even looking at Elliot.

Not long after she ran out of the Interrogation room Olivia gets to the media area, having ran as fast as she could to get there.

"Jet? What is it?" Olivia asks.

"I will have a location…. Now," Jet says and as soon as the location comes up it is one that all the Stabler Children, Elliot, Olivia, Fin and Antonio recognize.

"That's your old precinct," Kathleen comments, looking between Olivia and her Dad.

"I though they knocked that place down," Fin comments.

"They just boarded it up," Olivia says.

"I can't give you exact locations, but it seems like they are towards the front of the building, towards the front," Jet explains.

"The old bullpen," Olivia realizes, knowing it makes a lot of sense. "Let's go," Olivia says before going running and she is closely followed by Elliot, Fin, Rollins, Bell, Garland and Kat.

Not long after leaving the New 16 Precinct, Olivia and the other police offices arrive at the Old 16 Precinct. As Fin, Elliot and Olivia know the precinct best the others follow their lead. As the elevator long ago stopped working the group make their way upstairs via the old emergency stairs.

"Keep your eyes open," Olivia says. "Fin, you, The Chief, and Kat are with me. Elliot, take Rollins, and Bell through the Captain's office," Olivia says, and Elliot nods, but before anyone can take more than a few steps they hear two gunshots.

The second Olivia hears the gunshots it's like her mind stops working and she just starts to run towards the gunshots, all her cop instincts forgotten. While the others are shocked at Olivia's actions, and are slow to react, Fin is not, he goes running with Olivia.

As they hurry into the old squad room Olivia and Fin see Alex slumped over in a chair that she is clearly tied to, with Patrick Connors standing pretty close to Alex pointing the gun at her.

"ALEX!" Olivia calls and she runs towards her girlfriend, without even thinking about her own safety, not even paying attention to the fact that Connors has turned to point the gun at her. While Olivia isn't paying attention to Connors Fin is, and the second he turns to Olivia Fin fires and shoots him, killing him.

"Alex, Ally," Olivia says, getting to her side, noticing that there is blood on Alex's head, and that the gunshots where both to Alex's bad shoulder, and her stomach. If Olivia was able to think properly, she would realize that Alex also has other injuries.

"Liv," Alex says as he eyes drift close while Olivia is doing her best to try and stop the bleeding.

"Ally, stay with me baby, Stay with me," Olivia begs, feeling the most awful sense of Déjà vu. "Fin, help," Olivia says, knowing he would be close by, as she feels her future with Alex slip away.
