She fell, what felt like a million miles through the cold air, time grinding to a halt so she could feel every speck of dust and dirt graze her skin before the world turned side-ways.
Her vision was split between the impenetrable marble that kept her soul from sinking any deeper no matter how she wished for all of this to be a bad dream, and those immovable pillars that now seemed like rungs of a ladder ascending to the afterlife.
But within her glassy eyes was not the throne room before her, but memories of home. Her parents. She thought all she wanted was to leave them for good, but now she found her heart crying out to them, begging them to come pick her up and take her home.
And her friends.
His chest tightened. She let out a small whimper to crawl away with her tears, her lungs quickly failing her. How she wished for one more long breath, no matter how raspy or ragged, to tell them how truly sorry she was. To ask them to come back, not to leave her in the shadows that nipped at her fingers to test her taste before it devoured her whole.
A desperate little voice screamed in her head, clinging to the crumbling lie that this was only a game. Just like any game, she would restart from her last save, perhaps back in bed in her chamber in a world where there was trust, where there was friendship, where there was happiness, where there was reason. With what she knew now, she could talk to Andrias, talk him out of his conquest, convince him to just send her and her friends home. She had the solution now. She may have lost this time, but she had the solution now. She just needed to try again. Go back and try again.
The growing weight of her cloak and armor forced out the bits of ash from the bloodless wound, as heavy as reality that brushed a bony finger down her pale cheek.
The sunset was so bright now, breaking through the stained glass to fill the vacant space with pools of white light. She was so cold. If she had only the energy to dip a hand into the warm nectar that would ravage the winter burning her organs from the inside out. She could drink from it and let her mind melt with the plans she made so she could harm no one no longer.
But a great shadow as large as a mountain loomed over her weak body that scared away the waters to stand between her and her last chance at relief.
"Marcy, Marcy, Marcy."
Andrias. His voice, though growing distant, still gripped her being with an iron shackle.
"You brought this upon yourself. Not me. Things would have gone much smoother had you stuck to the plan. But you went off-script. All for the sake of some so-called 'friends' who have abandoned you to die alone on the floor like a bug. Now I have to clean up the mess you made."
Her vision was fading with the inky blackness that surrounded her, only his last words enough to pierce through the nothingness before she slipped away.
"At least you'll still be of some use to him. It isn't over for you yet."
A/N: Hey there! Blazedveggies556 here. I'm really stepping out of my comfort zone by trying my hand at another fandom, but I couldn't help myself! I just finished what Amphibia has to offer so far and I am absolutely in love. It has to be my current fav T.V show! So much so, that I had to write some fanfiction based on True Colors.
This was written on a whim, but I think it turned out ok! Hope you all liked it! All critique is welcome!
Until next time! :)
