Lorelai woke up the next morning at 6:30am. It was getting to the point even without an alarm she wakes up at the same time even on the weekends when she might like to sleep in. She checked her emails through the app on her phone just to ensure there was nothing she needed to respond to before Monday. She checked her emails daily but only responded during the week unless it was urgent. She noticed an email from Rebecca. She took a deep breathe before opening it.

Hey Lorelai,

I am sorry I gave you such a hard time. I know your team must have told you that I was angry with you and said I wasn't going to speak to you. Truth be told I was scared and hurting. I didn't want to end up in jail and I couldn't believe that you would throw me under the bus. I realize now that you were just helping me.

I also want to thank you. I know it wasn't easy for you to come and help me when I called. You put a lot on the line to come and help me. I overheard a couple of your co-workers talking about how annoyed your boss had been on the plane coming out. Annoyed with you. I cant ever thank you enough for what you did. You put an end to decades of abuse and neglect.

I want you to know I am in a good group home right now. Good being a relative term as the foster home we were in was the worst. I am however trying to get emancipated maybe after I can come to Virginia, and we can get a place together. I would love to be able to be with my big sister again.

I understand if you cant get behind that but at the very least, I would like to see you again maybe we can just hang out sometime. I'm in Florida now so maybe you can come here when you have sometime off, and we can just get a meal or something

I hope to hear from you soon.

It also included her new phone number.

Lorelai sighed. She hadn't told anyone what was going on. Outside of the team and the Director no one knew the truth. Truth was Rebecca was older than her by a little less than a year. How could she tell people this? She had a hard enough time telling Spencer.

She pushed it out of her mind and got up making her bed and getting dressed for the day. She went out to the kitchen and started to make coffee. She figured that Aaron would be awake soon too. She knew that his son was coming to see him that day and would be staying for the night. Since the separation Aaron would see him as often as he could but with his job it was hard. She had planned to spend the day out of the way so he could get his time with his son.

She poured a cup of coffee and went and sat on the couch in the silence. She loved her morning silence as she sipped her coffee. She was just finishing up her cup when Hotch came into the kitchen. He noticed her sitting on her couch.

"Morning." He said

Lorelai replied. "Morning."

Aaron got his newspaper from the hallway of the building before pouring himself a cup of coffee and sitting at the table to enjoy his coffee and flipping through the newspaper.

Lorelai got up from the couch and went and put her cup in the dishwasher.

Hotch set his paper down. "Sit please I have something to discuss with you."

Lorelai did as she was told. "What's up?" she asked

"I know I have said you don't need to ask to do things. And you don't. I also have no intentions of giving you a curfew, but the legal system does. When it comes to driving that is. If your going to be out later than midnight your going to have to either get a cab or have someone else drive you." He told her

Lorelai nodded. "I didn't even think about that. I'm still adjusting."

Hotch nodded. "Understandable."

Lorelai asked. "Anything else?"

"And if you could figure out an estimated time you will be coming home from things I would appreciate knowing. And if you will be later just a text would be okay." He said

Lorelai bit her lip to keep from chuckling. "I can do that. Were you worried?"

Hotch took a sip of his coffee choosing not to answer that question.

Lorelai smirked. "Honestly, we lost track of time. I didn't intend to be that late."

Hotch nodded. "Again, its fine. I'm glad you had fun and I knew you were with people I could trust. And I trust you."

Lorelai nodded. "I know I'm not the only one adjusting here. I also know that a regular sixteen-year-old would have a curfew and have to ask to do things. I appreciate you letting me have some independence still. I also don't want to come off as disrespectful or ungrateful. I know you did something so few people would do. I realize if you hadn't, I would likely have ended up in a group home far from anybody and anything I know."

"Lorelai. I care about you. You are family to me. I did what family does. I don't ever want you to feel that you own me anything. I want you to think about it like this. You care about those girls in that home. When one of them called you and asked you for help. You dropped everything, taking risks to your safety and your job and you went. Knowing what happened and the trouble you ended up in. Do you regret it? Would you do it again?" He asked

Lorelai nodded. "No. I don't regret it for a second and yes I would do it again."

"And if you were able to and they needed a home, would you take them in?" He asked

"In a heartbeat." She admitted.

"And would you expect anything from them in return?" he asked

She shook her head.

"So?" He asked

Lorelai smiled and nodded. "I get it."

"Good. So did you have any plans for today?" He asked

"Just unpacking. Letting you have your time with Jack." She told him

"You don't have to hide away when he's here. He's excited to see you." Hotch told her

'I just don't want…." She started

"Lorelai. My son is family. You are family. Family is not in the way. I don't want to hear anything about it again." He told her.

Lorelai nodded. "Got it."

Hotch shook his head. He had a feeling it was going to be a lot of time before she felt at home here. But he would do everything to make sure she knew it was her home.

Lorelai asked. "Can I go?"

Hotch nodded.

Lorelai went to her room and looked at the email again. She couldn't do anything about it right now. It was just all to new right now. She put her phone away and unpacked a few more boxes before she heard Jack's voice. She had met him before. Hotch had brought him into the office one day when they were doing some paperwork and she remembered him playing with some toys in his dad's office when Lorelai had gone into drop off some paperwork to him.

*FLASHBACK*

Agent Hotchner had his son with him at work that day. His ex-wife had an urgent situation to deal with and Hotch needed to take his son. Normally he wouldn't bring him into work, but he also had a lot of paperwork to finish that day, so he set him up with some toys in his office.

There was a knock on his door and his newest agent came in with a stack of paperwork.

Lorelai noticed the young child as she walked in. "Here are the files Sir." She said handing them to her boss.

"Thank you, Agent Davies." He said

"I know I'm young but new agents getting younger and younger?" She asked with a smirk

Agent Hotchner shook his head and smirked at his agent.

"This is my son, Jack, can you say hello to Miss Davies Jack?" he asked the boy.

Jack looked up and smiled. "Hello Miss Davies." He said getting up and running up and hugging her

Lorelai was a little surprised, but she smiled and gave the boy a small hug. "Hello Jack. Its nice to meet you.

Hotch was surprised also. That was a little out of character for Jack. He was always polite of course but never jumped up to hug someone he didn't know.

Jack replied. "Nice to meet you too" before going back to his toys.

Lorelai looked up Agent Hotchner. "Is there anything more you need sir?" She asked

Hotch shook her head. "No. You are free to go."

Lorelai left his office and went back to her desk

*END OF FLASHBACK*

Lorelai finished up breaking down a box before heading out. She knew Hotch had spoken to his son and his ex about her, so she knew Jack was expecting her there.

Jack's eyes lit up and he ran over to her and hugged her again. Lorelai hugged him back. "Hey Jack."

Jack smiled. "Hi. Your like my sister now!"

Lorelai chuckled. "Kind of yes. How are you buddy?"

Jack started to talk her ear off about what he has been doing.

Lorelai looked up at Hotch who had a small smile. But she continued to listen to Jack. She knew what it was like to be quieted when she had stuff to talk about, so she wasn't about to try and stop him from talking.

After a few minutes he did run out of things to talk about. "Want to play?" He asked Lorelai

"What would you like to play?" She asked.

Jack pulled her over to some action figures and the two of them played.

Hotch was impressed about how well Lorelai was falling into the role of big sister and how quickly Jack attached to her. He realized something he was happier than he had been in awhile. He had a moment of worry. What if Lorelai decided to get emancipated? Jack would be crushed. Was this a bad idea he wondered?

The day went very well despite his sudden concern. Lorelai did notice that something changed in Hotch and was concerned that she had done something wrong. Had she interfered like she as worried. After lunch she told him she had some stuff to do. She went to her room to give them their time together without her.

The day came to an end as Hotch put the little guy to bed around 7:30 and Lorelai cleared up the dinner dishes.

Hotch came out of the bedroom after putting him to sleep. "Thanks for doing the dishes"

Lorelai nodded. "No problem."

"Jack really seems to like you." He said

Lorelai nodded. "He is a very sweet kid."

"He doesn't react like that to most people." Hotch told her

"Oh." Lorelai said. "Is that a bad thing?" She asked slowly.

Hotch shook his head. "No. Of course not."

"Did I do something wrong?" She asked

"What? No." He looked confused "What makes you think that?"

Lorelai closed the dishwasher and pressed start. "I don't know…" She said and started to head to the bedroom.

"Stop." He said

Lorelai sighed. "Yes?"

"Lets try that again. Except the truth." He said pointing to the couch.

Lorelai sat biting her lip. Hotch joined her sitting on the chair across from her. "Talk." He said

Lorelai looked down at her hands. "I got the feeling that something was wrong. Sensed some tension when I was playing with him this morning."

Hotch nodded "Okay. I know why. There is nothing wrong with you playing with him. He was happy. It was a nice thing to watch." He told her. "I just got a feeling of concern. If you are still considering emancipation. Which is your right I am not telling you what to do. I just worry of how Jack will react with you not being around if you do." He told her

Lorelai nodded. "I have to admit I'm still thinking about it."

"Like I said I'm not going to try and stop you if that's what you really want." He said

"I can keep my distance." She said

Hotch shook his head. "That's not what I am saying."

Lorelai was getting frustrated. "Well, what am I supposed to do than?" She asked a little louder then necessary getting up and walking away.

Hotch wanted to react, but he decided to give her a chance to cool off. He was not impressed with her reaction, but he also knew this was all new to both of them and she needed some time.

He went and checked on Jack who was still asleep. He went and took a shower before heading back to Lorelai's room and knocking on the door.

Lorelai went to her room and flopped on her bed. The more she laid there the more she realized that she overreacted and had been disrespectful. She didn't have much time to think about it before the knock came.

"Yes." She said softly

Aaron walked in. Before he could say anything.

"I'm sorry. I was disrespectful." She said

He nodded. "Thank You. Can we try that discussion again?"

"Yes Sir." She said

"I do not want you to keep yourself hidden from him. How about this. If you choose to get emancipated, we will just have to get you two together sometime so he can still see you. Deal?" He said

Lorelai smiled and nodded. "That works."

"Good. Now if you are upset you talk to me. You don't hide it away. And you do not let it fester up to where you end up snapping like that." He told her sternly

"Yes Sir." She said

"Because if you are disrespectful like that again. It will not end well. Got it?" Aaron told her

She nodded.

"Good. Now lets get some sleep." He said saying good night and leaving her room.

Lorelai said good night before she got ready for bed herself.
