*break*
The last couple months since her adoption had gone very well. The team hadn't worked any cases that were particularly special. Of course, all their cases were important as they all involved victims, but they were nothing unusual.
Morgan had checked in on all the other children who had been in the home with Lorelai and Rachel, and they were all happy and doing well. He did keep Lorelai updated because he knew it was important to her. The former social worker was charged with working without a licence and was potentially going to serve time. Rachel's former foster father was charged with child abuse and would be serving time as well.
The team could really see the change in their superior Agent Hotchner. He smiled more. He spent less time working overtime and even delegated some extra paperwork to them so he could get home earlier.
Rachel was thriving in her new school. Was making lots of friends. Getting the help, she needed. Lorelai was still in therapy as well but had been able to cut down to once a month. She was not missing appointments.
Lorelai had arranged for the team had to go over to the Hotchner's home a few times during the summer for BBQ's. She actually demanded it. But the team realized how it was helping them work better as a team as they got to know each other better on a more personal level.
Morgan and Penelope even had opened up about their relationship and had gotten closer which everyone was thrilled about because they could see how good they were together. All together things were pretty perfect in Lorelai's life. Her dad was even starting to look into adopting Rachel officially too.
It was October so that meant halloween. Rachel and Jack were excited to go trick or treating. Some people might have thought Rachel was a little bit to old, but she spent so many years not being able to so Aaron was never going to tell her not to and if anyone else was to try he would just make them regret it with his stare. Lorelai decided to dress up too but just to hand out candy to the trick or treaters and let her dad take the other two out. Jack was dressed up as a superhero. Rachel was dressed up as a mummy. Lorelai decided to dress up as a witch. Jack had convinced their dad to wear a wig as his costume and Lorelai took the opportunity to take pictures. She even told him she was going to post them online as she chuckled. He gave her a look that told her if she did, she would be grounded till the end of time. Instead, she just sent the pictures to the rest of the team she knew they would get just as much of a kick out of it as she did.
Things were going well at home. She was handing out candy and was almost out. It had been a couple hours. She opened the door to a group of kids and handed them all their candy and felt like she was being watched. She looked out into the street. The streets were filled with kids and parents, but she didn't see anyone looking towards the house, so she just shook it off. She finished giving out the candy as her dad, brother and sister returned. Lorelai turned off the porch light to let any other children that this house was out of candy.
She went to the kitchen where Aaron was going through the candies with the kids to ensure there was nothing that seemed off and would have to be thrown away. Thankfully they all looked fine, so they were able to start eating some of it. Aaron told them they could have a few pieces tonight but not to have to much as to risk them getting sick. He went to the cupboard and pulled out a pack of coffee crisps that he had ordered from Canada and handed it to Lorelai.
Lorelai smiled. "Thanks."
Aaron nodded. "Of course. You should get a treat as well." He told her before suggesting they watch a movie to finish the night. They all settled in the living room with their treats and Aaron put on Hocus Pocus for them all to watch.
Jack fell asleep during the movie so when it was done Rachel was told to get ready and carried Jack to bed. Rachel went. Lorelai also changed out of her costume and put the rest of her chocolate away before making herself a cup of tea to wind down.
Aaron came back out and sat with her. "You know I will never live that picture down." He told her
Lorelai smirked. "I know. That's why I sent it."
Aaron shook his head with a small smile.
"You know its okay for people to know you're a good dad and you do things to make your kids happy." She told him.
Aaron nodded. "Yes, I am aware."
"So, you put on a funny wig because you son asked you to for Halloween. Shows you're human." She said
Aaron nodded. "Fair enough."
"If they give you to much of a hard time I will say something." Lorelai offered
Aaron shook his head. "That is not necessary. I can handle it"
Lorelai nodded. "Okay." She finished her tea and than headed to bed saying goodnight to her dad
