The sirens in his FBI issued SUV let everyone on the road know they had an emergency. Booth drove as usual with Brennan on the passenger seat.
"Bones, what are you doing?"
She opened the car door while car was moving. He called her name but she didn't respond. Her face was turned away from him. Booth tried slowing down the car but stepping on the break did nothing.
The next thing she did was take her seat belt off. She moved her whole body to face the open door and passing road. Booth wanted to grab her but he couldn't. His hands felt like they were glued to the steering wheel.
"Bones, Temperance, sit back and put your seat belt back on...please!"
Brennan looked back at him for a few seconds.
"Listen to me Bones...don't do it."
She turned her face back to the road and let go.
"Bones!"
Booth's foot stomped on the break and the car finally stopped.
He woke covered in sweat and her name on in his lips. Beside him sat Hannah with an annoyed expression.
"I take it you were dreaming about her." Hannah's tone was a bit rude.
"It was a bad dream." He looked at the clock on his night stand. 4:55am
"Why am I not surprised?"
Booth was the one surprised. Hannah never expressed herself that way towards Brennan. "What's with the attitude?"
"Lately everything is about her. 'Bones this, Bones that...' It can get annoying, Seeley."
"She's my partner Hannah."
"Your WORK partner. I'm your girlfriend."
It was way too early to go to work but it was also way too early to argue. "I don't have time for this." Booth threw the covers away from his body and got up. "We've been through so much shit together that she's much more than my work partner, she's my best friend."
Hannah looked away from him and crossed her arms over her chest. "Are you sure she's just that?"
Anger kept welling up inside him. He made his way to the bathroom to start his morning and get away from Hannah.
