Christmas came and went. It was just the three of them for Christmas. Jack was with his mom for Christmas this year and everyone else on the team had made plans with extended family.
It was Lorelai and Rachel's first year having a real Christmas in forever. Hotch wanted to make it memorable. He had taken them to get a real tree from a tree farm a week before Christmas. He had taken them to get decorations as well. He never really had a tree anymore. He did when Hailey and him were married and Jack was a baby but since the divorce he didn't really have the want to do that anymore. He usually spent Christmas's that he didn't have Jack, alone. This was the first Christmas with his two new daughters.
He had discussed with them before hand if they wanted to do the big Christmas dinner but they both thought they would rather spend the day together watching movies or just hanging out. Aaron decided that they could just go to a local restaurant that served a Christmas feast and not have to worry about spending the time cooking or cleaning.
The day went as perfect as any Christmas could be expected. They got up early. Well Rachel woke up early. She woke up Lorelai as soon as she got up. Lorelai to be honest didn't particularly like Christmas. It was always the worst day of the year for her. She had always tried hard to make Christmas perfect for everyone else and it always made it crappy for her. She would have happily slept in, but Rachel was excited.
"Is dad up?" Lorelai asked.
"Not yet. I am going to wake him up next!" She said
Lorelai chuckled. "How about you wait a bit for that." She said
"But its Christmas. And. There are so many gifts to open." She said
Lorelai got up. "We will wait for him to wake up on his own." She said and went towards the kitchen to start the coffee. The tree had far more gifts than it had the night before. She smiled and made the coffee. Ten minutes later Rachel came into the kitchen with their dad behind her.
Lorelai shook her head and got him his coffee. "I told her not to wake you up." She said
Aaron smiled. "It's okay. She is excited." He took the coffee. "Thanks."
Lorelai smiled. "The tree seems to have magically grown the gifts over night."
"Must have been Santa" Aaron said with a small smile. He wasn't naive enough to think the girls still actually believed but he could keep the magic going anyways.
Lorelai shook her head again with a small smile and sat down in her chair.
"Go ahead Rachel you can start opening." Their dad told her
The next hour or so was gift unwrapping. They all had gotten spoiled. Lorelai had made sure that she and Rachel had gotten their dad gifts too. They ate a quick breakfast afterwards and just watched movies most of the day. They went for an early dinner at the local restaurant. And came home to watch more movies and just enjoy their day. It was a perfect day and for the first time Lorelai actually enjoyed Christmas.
The day came to an end with the three of them cleaning up the mess from unwrapping gifts and all ended up falling asleep watching one final movie.
