Lorelai woke up at 7am the next morning. She looked at her phone checking for any missed texts or calls but there were none. She laid in bed for a bit just thinking. Her life continued to change on a daily basis and for someone who hated change in the past most of the changes were good. Even taking time off. Yes. She missed working but the time off had made it possible to work on her art and look through all her old art. She could see how much she had improved. She had even heard about a local art competition for young artists. She considered entering it, but she didn't know if she was ready to share her art with the public. Most of it she didn't even share with the people she was close to.
She stretched and checked her phone again looking for new emails but there was nothing. She got up and went through her regular morning routine. She texted her dad when she was leaving the house at 8:30am telling him she was on her way. She stopped off to get them all breakfast. Rachel was able to eat regular food now too. She grabbed the food and headed to the hospital. She went into the room to Rachel getting blood taken. The face told the entire room how much she hated it. She held up the smoothie she had gotten for her, and Rachel's face changed to happy. The nurse finished what she was doing and left the room.
"Morning." Lorelai said to the two others in the room and was met with a good morning response from both. She set the food down and handed her dad his coffee and Rachel her smoothie before sitting herself.
"How are you this morning Rachel?" Lorelai asked
Rachel smiled. "Good. If those tests come back clear I get to go home today."
Lorelai smiled. "Good."
The all ate their breakfasts and such for the next couple hours. Eventually the tests did come back, and she was cleared to go. Aaron went with the nurse to finish up some paperwork for her discharge. Rachel got out of bed and went into the bathroom and got changed out of her hospital clothing and into the clothes Lorelai had brought her the day before.
After all was done the three of them headed out to the car. Aaron took the keys from Lorelai and drove the three of them home.
When they got home, Rachel went and took a shower before getting set up on the couch to watch some movies. Aaron also took a shower and went to get some sleep. Lorelai sat with Rachel and watched some movies with her while she worked on her current drawing.
After a couple movies Rachel looked up at Lorelai. "I'm um. Sorry." She said
Lorelai looked up from her drawing. "For?" She asked
"For telling you I was fine…when I wasn't. I had a big test, and I didn't want to miss it." Rachel told her
Lorelai nodded. "I understand. I'm not angry. Its forgiven."
Rachel smiled. "You going to show me what you're drawing?"
Lorelai shook her head. "No."
Rachel chuckled. "Come on. Just a little peak."
"Not a chance. You know I don't normally share what I draw. Its for me." Lorelai told her
Rachel dropped it and looked back at the TV to continue watching the movie
Not long after Aaron came into the living room. "What do you ladies want for dinner?" He asked
Rachel shrugged but Lorelai suggested ordering from the place that made her favorite chicken salad.
Aaron smiled and nodded placing an order for pick up and handed Lorelai the keys. "Pick it up please." He said.
Lorelai smiled and set her drawing pad down and grabbed the keys before heading out.
While she was gone Aaron sat with Rachel and told her that they needed to plan a celebration for Lorelai as her seventeenth birthday was coming up soon.
Rachel nodded. "She's not big on huge parties so something small. Here with just a few people." She suggested
Aaron nodded. "That sound perfect. I am planning on getting her a new vehicle maybe you can help me pick it out?" He suggested
Rachel smiled and nodded. "I don't know much about cars, but I can go with you."
Aaron nodded. "I can teach you a thing or two while we look. Its important to know enough that you don't get swindled when you go to buy a car yourself. In the future." He said
Rachel nodded. "Okay."
Lorelai got back about half an hour later with the food. They all sat down and ate their dinner. After dinner Lorelai cleaned up the table from dinner.
Aaron went and started to make some calls to start planning the birthday party where Lorelai couldn't hear. He would let her know when things had been planned so she couldn't argue about having a party. She deserved it. He knew she had missed out on many birthdays growing up and this was her first birthday while living with him and he would make it special. No, he wouldn't do a huge party because he knew that wouldn't be something she would like but they would celebrate it.
He finished up what he was planning to get started that night before checking on the girls and telling Rachel to get to bed early since she was still healing.
Rachel did as she was told and headed to bed. Aaron sat with Lorelai, and they talked for a bit while Lorelai was having her nightly tea. When she was done they both said goodnight and headed to bed for the night.
