First Chapter

"CHESTO!!"

"GAAAH!!"

A man in a white dougi was sent flying across a dojo by a much smaller girl wearing a white dougi of her own, she a wore a yellow hachimaki around her neck and had messy black hair.

"Thank you for providing me with this battle!" The small girl said to her defeated opponent.

"You're just as strong as ever Makoto," the older man said handing over 400 yen, "have a good night!"

"Thanks. You too."

Later on, Makoto swept down the dojo with help from her friend, Ibuki. She herself belonged to the Glade of Ninjas, however she wore a typical Japanese schoolgirl outfit, her hair was tied in a high ponytail.

"Mako, I understand that this dojo means a lot to you, but I don't think it would hurt to fix it up a bit." Ibuki told her friend.

"Yeah yeah I know, but lately, nobody seems to be coming to the dojo, and I'm not getting as much money anymore because of that," Makoto replied with a hint of sadness in her voice, "If this dojo was damaged or taken away from me, I don't know what I'll do..."

"Don't worry Mako, we'll figure something out." Ibuki reassured. Just then to door to dojo slid open, showing a dark-skinned man carrying a duffel bag and wearing a yellow sweatsuit and yellow sneakers, he had dark brown hair tied into dreadlocks.

"Yo! Ibuki and Makoto! It's been a hot second!" The man said to the two girls, the latter which just stared at each other confusedly.

"I don't think I remember you..."

"Who the hell are you?"

"You guys seriously don't remember me? Last year! The 3rd World Warrior Tournament?" The man said.

"Look. Are you here to challenge me or talk my ear off?" Makoto said losing her patience.

"Ugh, fine. Lemme change real quick." The man said as he quickly ran into the training room.

"Are you sure you don't remember him?" Ibuki asked.

"If I did I'd remember his voice, it's friggin' annoying." Makoto responded.

"Alright. How about now?" The man walked out of the changing room wearing a yellow gi, and red fighting gloves, and all of a sudden it came flooding back for the two girls.

"Ooooh, you're Sean Matsuda, right? I remember you now!" Ibuki said.

"Oh, you're Sean? From what I know, you're training under Ken Masters, right? So you must be pretty strong." Makoto said looking Sean up and down.

"Well, I'm getting there that's for sure, now... do you still wanna go?" The Brazilian asked while stretching.

"You bet, but do not hold anything back against me, fighting people at their fullest is what makes this exciting." Makoto explained passionately.

"I hear you loud and clear. Now... get ready!" Sean said as he got into his fighting stance, and Makoto did the same.

For a brief moment, it was dead silent, but Makoto had taken the first step, but suddenly she dashed toward Sean at an extreme speed, and threw a right hook, to which the shoto had dodged with relative ease. Sean quickly spun around and tried to roundhouse kick his opponent, but Makoto simply ducked and responded with a punch to the stomach, causing Sean to double over.

Makoto stepped back, put her palm out in front of her and reeled back her fist, almost as if she was aiming for her opponent, and in an instant she sped forward like a bullet.

But Sean was ready, with perfect timing, the shoto reacted with his own Dragon Smash, hitting Makoto in the chin and launching her upwards.

"Haha! I remember that move! You're gonna have to try a little harder than that Mako!" Sean taunted. The tomboy recovered quickly, and spat out some blood while eying down her opponent.

"Not bad, initially I thought you were just holding back. But now, I know that you aren't as strong as you say you are." Makoto said.

"Wha- what did you say? Are you calling me weak?" Sean said, clenching his fist.

"Well, you ain't weak, but you're definitely not that strong either. Tell ya what, if you train at my dojo, I'll teach you everything you need to know, even at the low price of-"

"I'll show you not to underestimate me again!" Sean started to focus energy into his palms.

"HADOU-BURST!!"

Sean fired his own version of the famous Hadoken at his opponent, the projectile traveled way too fast, so Makoto only jumped out of the way, the blast managed to graze her slightly, causing her to wince.

While Makoto did manage to dodge the blast, the projectile traveled right until it collided with the already rickety dojo wall, creating a giant hole in it.

"Uh oh... uh... whoops! S-sorry about that!" Sean said sheepishly, "Well, at least it doesn't LOOK that bad-" The shoto was cut off by Makoto who leaped at him, grabbed him by his collar and lifted him right off of the floor.

"How DARE you damage my father's dojo! I'll... I'll kill you for that!!"

"Wait...! I-I can't breathe..."

"Makoto, stop it!" Ibuki said as she tore her friend away from Sean. Makoto had managed to calm down a little bit, but not before glaring at Sean so hard, that he felt it piece his heart.

"Wait! L-look I'm sorry that I damaged your dojo, I-I didn't know that it meant so much to you!" Sean nervously explained, but Makoto wasn't having it.

"If you EVER step foot in my dojo again, I WILL kill you, Matsuda. That's a promise." Makoto said through gritted teeth.

Sean's brain races around trying to find something to say, but he couldn't.

"You should just leave us alone Sean, you've done enough today." Ibuki said coldly.

"...Right." Sean said as he picked up his duffel bag, and he exited the dojo and into the cold night.

"Hey, wait." A voice said behind Sean, he turned around and it was Ibuki.

"Do... you need anyone to drive you back to your hotel? It's cold tonight, and I could call a taxi." The ninja offered, Sean only shook his head.

"Nah, I'm good, thank you for asking though."

At the hotel, Sean threw his duffel bag on the floor, and he sat on his bed, thinking about what had occurred only an hour ago.

How did I screw this up? All I had to do was spar with Makoto, and I somehow messed that up. Now she hates me and probably never wants to see my face again. Nice going, Sean. There's no way in hell that this night could get worse-

BRRRRING~

Goddamnit.

Sean's phone was ringing, and he knew who it was all too well, he picked up his phone to see that his older sister, Laura wanted to video chat with him. The shoto reluctantly answered the call, his sister (who was back in Brazil) was wearing an oversized t-shirt and and lightning-themed pajamas, this time, both sides of her black hair were loose.

"Heeeey, Sean! How's Japan? Did you pick up any hot chicks yet?"

"No, I didn't Laura."

"Man, you sound out of it! You alright man? You just landed here today!"

"Well, I just blew a hole in my friend's wall, and they snapped on me."

Damnit, why did I tell her that?

"Woah, really? That sounds crazy man. You sure you alright?"

"Yeah, yeah. I'm fine. It's a long story. I'll tell you... later."

"Heh, alright. Get some sleep bro!" Laura said as she gave her brother a thumbs up, and hung up.

Now today is weird, Laura actually kind of made me feel better. Hell must've frozen over. But she's right, I should just get some sleep.

It was a nice and breezy afternoon in Japan, the men and woman were hustling and bustling to get where they needed to go, and then there was Sean, wearing a yellow hoodie with a black undershirt and black cargo shorts complete with red sneakers. The Brazilian had nothing to do except walk around and sightsee. Until he found a nearby arcade.

When Sean entered the arcade, it was very obviously crowded, mainly by teenagers who just finished their semester of high school or college, or children with their parents. Sean traded his yen for tokens and started to look around, he couldn't really read anything so he just gravitated toward anything that looked familiar.

Eventually he settled on a racing game. He put his token in, sat down and started playing, and he was actually doing pretty good. He got first place in all of the races.

"Woah, you're pretty good. I got next. Ok?" Someone said putting a token on the screen of the machine, Sean was simply too invested in the game to respond.

Eventually Sean beat the game, and he got first place in all of the races, beating the high score even.

"You're incredible Sean! You even beat my high score!" The voice said again.

"Huh? Oh, thanks. Also, how do you know who I am-" Sean said as he got up from the machine, and he couldn't believe what he has seeing, "Sakura!?! Wh-what are you doing here?"

Sakura, who was wearing a red and blue sweatsuit with white sneakers, and complete with her iconic red headband simply smiled at Sean.

"What am I doing here? I always come here whenever I finish jogging. I'm with another group too, I'll have to introduce you later," Sakura said, "But for now, let me reclaim my throne." The schoolgirl said as she slipped into the drivers seat and popped the token into the machine, and for the next 20 minutes, Sakura makes VERY quick work of Sean's high score.

And it wasn't even close, Sean was good at the game, but Sakura was better. Way better.

"And that's how it's done," Sakura said hopping out of the seat, "Practice some more,

and you'll be as good as me Sean!"

That sentence echo in the back of Sean's mind. How many times has he been told that?

"OH! Lemme show you who I'm with! C'mon!" The hyperactive girl said grabbing her Brazilian friend's arm and running to the other side of the arcade near the entrance.

Once they reached the entrance, two girls were occupied playing pachinko, their eyes were laser focused on the machine.

"Ok ok ok, one more time!" The shorter of the two girls said while digging around in her wallet. The girl had a pair of goggles and purple hair tied into a short ponytail, she was wearing the same school outfit that the taller girl was wearing.

"Nah, that's enough for now Sarai," The taller girl said, "Besides, we have to catch up to Sakura anyway-" the girl cut herself of at the sight of Sean, who the latter was equally surprised to see.

"Uh... hey Sean."

"Hi Ibuki."

"You two know each other?" Sakura and Sarai said at the same time. Ibuki felt like her brain shut off for a moment and completely restarted, and then she remembered why she even came to the arcade in the first place.

"Erm... yeah I know this guy! We were both in the Third World Warrior Tournament!" Ibuki explained quickly while getting behind Sean and pushing him out of the arcade "Illtalktoyouguyslaterokbye!"

Sarai and Sakura just looked at each other and shrugged.

Meanwhile out in the streets of Japan, the young ninja was speed walking and the Brazilian shoto was struggling to keep up.

"So how did you know I would even be in the arcade?" Sean asked trying to keep up.

"To be honest, there isn't really much to do this time of day besides go to the arcade, I knew someone like you would be there." Ibuki explained.

"Ok well... what do you need me for exactly?"

Ibuki slowed down to a modest walk, and Sean was finally able to catch up behind her.

"It's Makoto."

"HUH?!?"

"It's Makoto," Ibuki said looking back at her friend, "she wants to talk to you."

Author's Notes:

Uhhh... this is my very first Street Fighter fic, I've played the Street Fighter games for years but I'm recently getting into the lore. I specifically chose Sean, Makoto and Ibuki because I really like these characters, and they never really interacted in the actual canon. Also this story takes place after the events of Third Strike (the last game in the Street Fighter series canonically) so everyone would have grown up slightly in between then.

Please, if you have any critiques leave them in the comments, I'd love to discuss them :)
