CHAPTER V

Klaus stepped into Caroline's room quietly. He sat on the mini settee and watched her sleep on the bed. He fought the urge to lay down beside her and stroke her hair. This has been part of his routine lately. When Caroline decided to stay, he was very delighted and he cannot wait to show her everything. He mentally prepared himself a list of what they can do together.

Suddenly, the witches made a surprise attack by burning down the place where the night walkers stay during daytime and that snapped him back to the current situation of his city. He and his brothers got busy retaliating to the witches. Honestly, they thought this war with the witches only involves The French Quarter Coven because of their history together. They were surprised to know that the other covens were also involved. The Treme Coven for example. They were the ones responsible for the attack of his night walkers and this coven was harder to handle than the French Quarters. Realizing that the other covens might be involve, the situation got a bit more tricky and they tracked down the other seven covens to check.

With all things going on, Klaus only had a little time to spend with Caroline. He toured her once in his city but it was only a part of it. He didn't even show her the supernatural areas. He felt a little sorry because he made her stay yet he didn't have time for her. He hoped that her bonding time with the other ladies and allowing her to replace and redecorate some parts of the Abattoir can make up for his absence.

Klaus took a deep breath as he settled himself on the settee. Since Caroline got her humanity back, he always made time to check up on her at night. It's either he will stay quietly in her room while she sleeps or he paints at his studio while he focused his vamp hearing at her room. When he realized that her nightmares were still occurring, he opted to sit in her room so that he can easily hush her down and soothe her back to a peaceful sleep.

Caroline tossed and grunted in fright. An indication that she's having a nightmare again. Klaus quickly moved beside her and stroke her hair softly. He whispered words of comforts to ease her down. Her furrowed brows softened and she sighed in relief. Her eyes remained close the whole time. "It's alright, love. I'm here." Klaus muttered softly as he fixed her blanket. He continued to stroke her hair and stayed in that position until he was sure that Caroline's okay. He slowly moved away from the bed.

"Klaus?"

Klaus looked back in surprise when he heard her voice. He didn't plan to let her know about his nightly routine.

Caroline rubbed her eyes and looked at him. She slowly sat up while he stood still. "You're here." She stated. Klaus nodded his head in reply and licked his lips warily. It finally registered to her what happened and eyed him intently. "Were you that one who kept lurking in my room these past few days?"

"I was just checking up on you, love." Klaus replied. He gained his confidence as he hid his wariness.

Caroline hummed, "Mr. Lurker."

Klaus smirked and sat back on the bed. Caroline moved both her legs closer to her chest as she fixed her blanket to cover her body. She raised an eyebrow and they stared at each other. Comfortable silence consumed the room.

"Are you alright, love?"

"I was having a nightmare again, wasn't I?"

They asked at the same time. Caroline squeezed her legs closer and whispered her answer. "I don't know."

"It's normal especially when you just got your humanity back." Klaus answered her. Caroline gave him a tight smile.

"Was I difficult? When you know..."

Klaus shook his head. Caroline eyed him skeptically. She didn't believe him so she said, "As I recall, you didn't let me leave the Abattoir and if there weren't witchy matters to deal with, you would've hover over me 24/7."

Klaus sniggered at her statement. "Or maybe I just like the idea to be by your side all the time."

Caroline rolled her eyes at his response. After some time, she took a breath and murmured. "Do you think I would've killed someone if you let me go on without humanity?"

"Was this it? The thing that bothered you since you decided to stay?" Klaus arched an eyebrow. He did notice her troubled looks sometimes when she thought no one was paying attention to her.

Caroline looked at him in surprise. Klaus slightly smirked. "I easily notice things, sweetheart."

"One of the few things." Caroline clipped. She wanted to wipe the condescending smirk on his face. Klaus chuckled lightly then turned serious. "Well if you indeed kill someone, I'm sure it's for a sensible reason. Given the control and practicality you've shown to us during your flip." Klaus stated objectively. "But I doubt you would've, Caroline." He added softly. " And I wouldn't let you."

"Why? Because I would be killing your vampire army?" Caroline attempted to tease.

Klaus smirked a little and replied, "Because I don't want you to do something you would've regret."

Caroline smiled and shot him a grateful look. She whispered, "Do you think my mom is disappointed in me? I did feed and compel humans just for my own selfishness." She knew how childish she look to Klaus right now but she wanted to talk and hear his opinions besides the ones she formed. She wanted to know what he thinks about her after seeing her flip the switch. She has been beating herself up because of the judgements she created about herself. What if he also thought the same?

Klaus hummed thoughtfully, "Why would she be disappointed? She knows you're a vampire, love. She knows what you are capable of. What's wrong with enjoying the gifts that vampirism offers you? She even embraced the thought of your gift of eternity." Klaus patted Caroline's hand tenderly, "I think she would be proud of you, sweetheart. She would be proud to know that even though you've woken up the dormant wicked side of your vampirism, you were still able to control it. Your light swept through despite of it."

Caroline smiled at him softly, "Why is it that you always know the right words to say to me?"

Klaus laughed a little and Caroline followed after. She took his hand and squeezed it. "Thank you, Klaus." He smiled at her and rubbed her fingers lightly. She eyed it for a moment and bit her lip, "Do you want to see the precious memories I had with my mom?"

Klaus paused in shock. He couldn't believe that she would give him a chance to get to know her more deeply. Her memories with her mother were personally. Yes, they did talk about their fathers before but this... It's another level to dive his connection to her. A part of him wanted to be certain that she's ready to share these things to him so he asked lowly. "Are you sure?"

Caroline squeezed his hand and smiled encouragingly, "I am." He tightened his hold. "But I'm not really that confident if this works. I only did this once..." She rambled while he chuckled. "It's alright. Just close you eyes and clear your mind." He advised.

Caroline took a deep breath and closed her eyes. Klaus gave her a moment and asked. "Ready, love?" She nodded her head and he closed his eyes.

Flashes of memories from infant to childhood to teenage. Memories of celebrations like birthdays, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. It was obvious that they grew distant to each other as the years went on. There was also the memories of the down time when her mother found out she was vampire. The denial, hurt, wariness, and acceptance. It showed the transition of how they become closer and open to each other. It also showed the improvement of their relationship and how much Caroline treasured her mother. Few memories left an impression in Klaus.

Liz found out about Caroline being a vampire.

Liz saved Caroline from her father.

The morning after Klaus cured Caroline's bite.

Miss Mystic Falls.

Her talks with her mom on the days she killed the 12 witches, Klaus gave Tyler a head start, and the night of her prom.

The day Silas attacked Caroline.

Her Graduation day.

There was also a memory when Liz and Caroline had a picnic. Klaus noticed the unwell look that the Sheriff has. He concluded it must be one of the few last moments Caroline had with her mother. The mother and daughter conversation turned interesting when Liz opened a topic about a certain hybrid. Klaus' interest peaked but then the memory quickly switched to an another one. This time it was a memory wherein Caroline was in the hospital and held her mother's hand. He saw Matt Donovan at her back then Klaus was transferred to a scene when Liz taught Caroline how to ride a bike.

"Don't let go. I'm not yet ready." Little Caroline whined.

"Yes you are." Liz said as she stared at the little Caroline riding the bike.

Liz tended little Caroline's wound.

"What if you die and I'll still be here?" Little Caroline uttered.

"Well then, you'll be all grown up and you won't need me." Liz answered.

"I think I'll always need you." Little Caroline declared and hugged her mom.

Klaus watched sadly as the scene unfolded in front of him. The next one was the time when his family and Katherine brought back her humanity. It showed how relieved she was to know that she didn't burn the real letter and read it as her tears flowed.

To My Extraordinary Daughter

If you're reading this letter then that must mean that I've already taken my last breath and no longer around to embrace and comfort you. I'm so sorry sweetie. I'm sorry I wasn't strong enough to cling to my life so that I could've spend more time with you. I'm sorry that your mother was very ordinary. I know we had our rough patch but we made through it because of you, Caroline. You taught your mother to look at things in a different way. So don't be sorry that you've turned into a vampire. We both know you like being one.

I love you so much and I'm so proud of the woman you have become. Confident, kind, positive, and strong. You don't always have to prove yourself to anyone. People will love, accept, and see your worth. Just be you and smile, my beautiful daughter.

Remember when you swore to me that you'll get me out of the town and find me a man? Yes sweetie, I heard that. Now, I want you to do that but you have to do it for yourself this time. Special emphasis to the former and you already know what I mean right? Get out of town even just for a while and live your life. With or without supernatural.

I know it would be unfair to ask you not to grieve for my death but please don't make it long sweetheart. You have a great future ahead of you. An eternity to explore. I support whatever decisions you have to make so go roam and enjoy everything the world has to offer. Ride a plane. Have a road trip. Be on an adventure. Act on a play. Plan an event. Be with your epic love. Anything. I know you have your dreams and desires. Go and chase them. Be happy.

It was an honor to have and cherish an extraordinary daughter like you.

I miss you sweetie and I love you. I will always be here even if you can't see me anymore.

Love,

Mom

When Klaus had the letter, he didn't read it because he highly value the privacy between the mother and daughter. He only had a witch duplicate the the outer appearance to make it look like it's real. Now, he read it along with Caroline because he believed that Caroline wanted him too. Given that she also showed him this part of her memory. The heartfelt letter moved Klaus. It showed him how unconditional a mother's love can be. Lucky are the ones who experienced it. A part of Klaus was happy that he was able to compliment Liz because she really did deserve it after all.

Caroline's memories ended and they were back on the present. Caroline gave him a half smile as she choked a sob. She sniffed and cried quietly. Klaus moved closer and embraced her. He caressed her back and hushed her down comfortingly.

"She really was a good mom." Klaus said when she finally calmed down and leaned their backs on the headboard. He gave Caroline a sincere smile and moved her hair away from her face. Caroline returned the same smile and replied. "Amazing, actually. She was an amazing mom."

They fell into a comfortable silence as they formed their own thoughts about their exchange. They stayed like that while they held each other's hand softly.

Kol groaned and woke up due to the girlish noises from downstairs. He went down and saw the ladies making breakfast. He took a moment to look at the scene before him. He watched fondly as his sister smiled brightly and carefree to the other two vampires.

Yes, he annoys his sister all the time because that's his job as a brother but he's also overprotective of her. Maybe not the same as Nik but still overprotective. She's the family's little girl after all. Ever since they were turned into a vampire, Bekah's sweet little girl personality faded and turned into a snarky bitchy woman she is today. That is why it's a relief for him to see the sweet little Bekah right now. It meant that this side of her wasn't lost forever.

"Now what do we have here?" Kol tutted.

Everyone looked at him but only Caroline greeted him back brightly. "Good morning Kol."

"Only Caroline wants greet me?" Kol snarked as he grinned at them. Katherine and Rebekah rolled their eyes.

"Ugh! It's not a really good morning now that you're up." Rebekah retorted. "You're not Elijah so I'm not greeting you." Katherine quipped.

Kol snorted, "I'm more charming than noble Elijah." He grabbed a blood bag and took a seat on the table. He looked around. It was messy. Ingredients were scattered everywhere. "What are you trying to do anyway?"

"Rebekah wants to try making breakfast in a human way." Katherine snarled as she wiped some batter glued on her hair.

"I didn't force you to join us. You voluntary did!" Rebekah barked.

"Because you needed assistance while making the batter!" Katherine scoffed. "We don't want to waste your precious ingredients."

"Forgive me but this is my first time to make pancakes!" Rebekah countered.

"Okay stop!" Caroline raised her hands up. The two shut their mouths and glared at each other. She turned to Kol, "I was teaching Rebekah how to make good pancakes."

Kol nodded as he hid his smirk. Caroline has been in New Orleans for weeks already and spent her time mostly with these ladies. He was amused by how Caroline can be their referee in their spats and how she can stop the two from bickering. It was entertaining to watch the ladies listen to Caroline and let her control them sometimes. Even when it comes to few day walkers outside the compound the two were rude but if it goes overboard, Caroline reprimanded them. Well, he's also included but if only she caught him.

Caroline might have not notice but she can sway the ladies and make them a bit more decent. Kol thinks they let her get through them because Rebekah and Katherine loves Caroline's presence and she make them feel and act in their human age. The three have a close gap to their human age.

"You keep on hanging out with these two, darling. When will be my turn?" Kol grinned.

"Like Nik's going to let her spend some time with you." Rebekah snorted.

Kol snickered, "Nik doesn't control Caroline's decision, right darling?"

Caroline chuckled, "Nope."

Kol's grin grew wider. "So, how about you spend some time with me today?" He tried to sneak his finger in the bowl of batter.

Katherine scoffed and slapped his finger away. "Aren't you busy with the witches today?"

"Still annoyed that you ladies can't get involve in this war, Petrova?"

Katherine rolled her eyes. "Actually yes, I'm kind of getting bored hanging out with these two."

"I am too. I know you men just want to protect us but it's kind of dull here when there's no action." Rebekah agreed as she checked the batter if it's alright.

"Are you two saying that I'm boring to be with?!" Caroline whined.

"Yes Care, sorry." Katherine remarked and Rebekah giggled. Caroline glared at them and reheated the pan.

"I don't mind you getting involve. We really need some other smart lass right now. With all the mystery and other covens to deal with." Kol shrugged and turned to Caroline. "So darling, you free today?"

"Stop trying to date Caro, Kol. She won't give you a chance." Rebekah said.

"I'm not asking her for a date. I'm just taking her out. Getting to know." Kol defended and winked at Caroline.

Katherine snorted, "Like there's a difference."

"Still trying to get into 'Lijah's pants, Katherine?" Kol teased.

"Shut up. Mind your own business." Katherine snapped and hit him with the brown spatula.

"Looks like you still haven't succeeded into getting 'Lijah's good graces." Kol grabbed the spatula and wiggled his eyebrows.

"She's actually on the verge of trying a sneak attack on 'Lijah, Kol." Rebekah made a disgusted face.

"I'm surprise that Elijah resisted you this long." Kol teased.

"Oh My God! Are we really having this conversation right now?!" Caroline complained and navigated Rebekah in front of the stove. Everyone raised an eyebrow at her complaint as she gave Rebekah another spatula and the batter.

"Too much for you to handle?" Katherine said and gave Caroline another bowl of batter. She huffed in response to her question and looked around, "Can we also make waffles? We made a lot of batter."

Rebekah scoffed and started to cook, "You and Nik are worse! Don't think that we can't feel the sexual tension between the two of you!"

Kol nodded his head to answer Caroline's question and moved to get the waffle maker. He turned it on while Caroline assisted Rebekah in making the perfect circular pancake.

"It's driving us nuts!" Katherine added and stood beside Rebekah with a large plate on her hands.

Kol wiggled his eyebrows. "Why don't you just jump at him and give us all a break!"

"We're not at that stage yet, Kol!" Caroline snapped and checked the heat temperature of the waffle maker. She gave Kol a plastic scraper and poured the batter.

Katherine hummed and smirked, "Yet. So, it'll happen some time soon?"

"EW! I don't need the details!" Rebekah said and gave them a disgusted look while Katherine placed the full plate on the table and grabbed another one.

Caroline groaned. She grabbed the scraper from Kol and pointed at them. "I happen to take this 'chance' a bit more seriously guys. I don't want to jump in and rush it." Everyone sniggered at her statement. "Careful darling. Some might say that you don't just care and like my brother, it's something deeper."

Caroline scoffed and taught Kol how to check the waffles. "And I say that your brother is giving me mixed signals."

Kol smirked, "Trouble in paradise already?"

"That's so Nik! Always uncertain when it comes to feelings!" Rebekah groaned and placed the last pancake on the plate. She turned off the stove.

"Your brother fears emotions. What do you expect?" Katherine emphasized and put the large plate on the table.

Caroline sighed and brought the maple and chocolate syrups on the table. "Can we just not discuss this please? I'm not in the mood for this conversation."

"No! Let's discuss this. It seems entertaining!" Rebekah grinned.

"You just want to snoop." Katherine scoffed and placed another large bowl of berries on the table.

"Hey! My personal life is dull right now! I need some entertainment." Rebekah picked one berry and ate.

"If you're frustrated with Nik, you can always borrow my bat sweetheart." Kol suggested.

"Kol, you burnt it!" Caroline chastised and showed the waffle. He shrugged and ate the waffle nonchalantly.

Rebekah snorted at Kol's suggestion, "Bat? Ha. And what good will it do?"

"Caroline can use it to hit his head and Nik can't do anything about it! I want to see that." Kol pointed the scraper at Caroline. "And hit him hard darling. Make sure I'm one of the audience!"

Caroline rolled her eyes and grabbed the plate of waffles from Kol.

Rebekah groaned as she saw the look on Katherine's face. "What?" Katherine asked innocently. Rebekah pointed at her, "That look on your face says that you came up with a bitchy plan that will definitely annoy Nik!"

Katherine was surprised on how Rebekah can read her. She indeed came up a plan to annoy Klaus.

"Well Petrova, enlighten us with your ideas." Kol said.

Rebekah gave him a pointed look. "You look like you're up for it!"

Kol shrugged. "Anything to annoy Nik."

Katherine looked around her. "Well, since Klaus is giving Carebear mix signals then why don't we stir up some emotions to our favorite hybrid?"

Caroline glared at Katherine. "What are you trying to say?"

"Go out with Kol today. Not really a date. Just hang out because god! I still love to live my life!"

"And that helps because?"

"Let's test how Klaus will react with his jealousy."

"Easy. He'll lash out."

"Ah. Ah. Ah. We're talking about something that involves Caroline here." Katherine tutted.

The Original siblings looked interested with the plan. "I have no problem taking out lovely Caroline." Kol teased as he moved near the table. Caroline shook her head and rejected.

Katherine huffed at Caroline and moved to her seat. "Just go with the flow, Care. You have nothing to lose."

"You just want to make fun of Klaus!"

"Sweet Caroline, that's what siblings do." Kol dramatically said and sat down.

"Stop being a spoilsport. Just do it." Rebekah countered and placed a waffle on her plate.

"NO." Caroline said fiercely and poured some chocolate syrup on her pancakes. Everyone started to eat and convinced Caroline about the plan.

Katherine inwardly sighed. The baby vampire is so stubborn. She really did want to help but she also wanted to annoy Klaus. He haunted her down for many centuries. She deserves some small revenge. She will help because she owed it all to Caroline that she can at least move freely right now without looking over her shoulder. She recalled the day after Caroline asked for her freedom. She stumbled at the kitchen and Klaus was there.

She admits, she was a bit frightened at that moment. They were alone. She expected him to choke her and demand an explanation on why Caroline just asked him for her freedom but instead he just tightened his jaw and said.

"I'll consider giving you your freedom Katherine but first you have to prove to me your loyalty to this family and also prove to me that you're not planning anything against us."

Klaus showed her a rigid expression to convey how serious he was then he vamped away. Leaving Katherine stunned at their encounter.

At that moment she was awed by how Caroline truly affects the hybrid. What amazed her the most was that Caroline clearly have no idea the influence she actually have to the hybrid. Caroline was cautious and afraid of anything that involved Klaus. Her insecurities made her weak and self conscious. "Thank Mystic Falls for that." Katherine scoffed at that thought.

She was glad that the blonde decided to leave the town. The more she spent time with the her, the more she thinks that the blonde deserves better than that town can offer her. Somehow, she grew to care for the baby vampire. She brought out the emotions that Katherine buried deep within herself. She would be a hypocrite if she says that she wasn't afraid of the blonde's tendencies to stir her emotions. She's afraid but at the same time grateful that she could still feel such emotions. That's why she decided to not screw Klaus' offer. "I'm going to prove myself. I'm going to prove that I am loyal and sincere. I will never betray them. Especially Elijah." She thought determinedly.

Elijah and Klaus went downstairs and saw four vampires bantering. They bantered and ate breakfast. The two noted that they ate a human food breakfast.

"You're up early, Kol." Klaus sneered.

"Have you not heard the girlish noise?!" Kol complained. "They woke me up!"

"I did and tuned them out while painting." Klaus replied and sat at the head of the table.

Kol rolled his eyes, "Lucky you then."

"Good morning, Elijah." Katherine greeted sweetly as the rest rolled their eyes. "Good morning" Elijah replied politely. Rebekah made a face at Katherine to tease her. Katherine huffed in return. Elijah saw the mini exchange and raised an eyebrow. He grabbed a piece of pancake and waffle and started to eat.

Caroline sighed at the antics of the two and turned to Klaus. "What's your agenda today?"

"Witches." Klaus replied shortly.

"Good! Can we join this time?" Rebekah said and crossed her arms.

"Absolutely not." Klaus rejected.

"Don't you think it's about time you involve us in it?" Katherine countered. Caroline nodded, "Kol said you guys needed more people."

Klaus glared daggers at Kol. The younger shrugged and uttered indifferently, "It's true."

Elijah sighed, "There's a mystery that we can't seem to solve." He hummed in satisfaction when he ate the food.

"Elijah!" Klaus warned and tried to reach for the pancakes.

"Oh shut up Nik! There's no point hiding it from us. We're getting bored here and we want to have some fun." Rebekah stated. "Oh, and I made these pancakes!" She moved the plate away from Klaus.

"This is not a picnic, Bekah! This is war." Klaus growled and turned to reach the waffles instead. Kol grinned and moved the plate away, "I made these waffles too."

Klaus scowled at his siblings and placed his utensils down sharply. Caroline sighed at the younger Originals' antics and offered him the bowl of berries. "And that states that you need us. Klaus, we want to help." Caroline continued the serious conversation they had.

"The situation here is not nearly the same in Mystic Falls, Caroline."

"Then leave Caroline out of it and let Rebekah and I join. We've already encountered this kind of situation." Katherine pointed out.

"What?!" Caroline reacted and looked at Klaus. She saw him consider Katherine's words. "Don't you dare leave me out of this, Klaus." Caroline snarled.

Klaus sighed, "Love, this is for your safety. Katherine and Bekah are more experienced than you are. We do need every help we can get."

Caroline scoffed, "I won't just stay here and do nothing!"

"Caroline, I don't have time for your stubbornness right now." Klaus gritted.

"Then just let me join you guys!"

"I already said no. You have to stay in this house and don't you dare leave without my permission."

"I'm not your prisoner!"

"Then I'll make you one! You will not leave this house and you will not let other people see you!"

Both of them were already standing. Caroline took a step back. Emotions overwhelmed inside of her. She was so frustrated. She just wanted to help and be involved but Klaus made her feel weak and an outcast. She inhaled sharply to control her emotions. Desperate tears started to form.

"Okay," Kol disrupted their squabble and stood up. "I won't be joining you today, Nik. I have some agenda of my own." Kol declared and noticed Elijah handed him a handkerchief. He rolled his eyes and wiped his mouth. Everyone turned to him because of his random declaration. Confusion were on their faces.

"May I ask what agenda you have, Kol?" Elijah questioned. Kol was always been the wildest one in the family. He's impulsive and erratic. Elijah doesn't want him to add more troubles than they already have.

Kol shrugged, "Just things. So you better not call me. Not until if I'm really needed, okay?" He turned away as he walked towards the exit. When he was a step away, he turned around and looked at Caroline. "You coming, darling?"

Caroline gave him a confused look and Katherine nudged her. "And where are you taking her?" Klaus snarled. "It's not like you care, Klaus." Caroline snapped and walked towards Kol. "Don't worry Nik, she'll be safe with me." Kol grinned as they exited together.

Klaus snorted and turned to Rebekah and Katherine with narrowed eyes, "Do any of you know where they're headed?"

They shrugged in response. Rebekah snatched a blood bag from the table while Katherine ate some berries. Klaus growled and was about to go after Kol and Caroline when Elijah stopped him.

"Niklaus, it would be best if you give Miss Forbes some space after your row earlier. She will be fine. Kol's with her. He won't do anything to hurt her." Elijah reassured. Klaus was about to protest when Elijah gave him a stern look. "The witches, Niklaus." Klaus groaned.

"So, you went out with me after all." Kol grinned at Caroline.

Caroline sighed dramatically, "I must be out of my mind."

Kol clutched his heart. "You wound me, sweetheart. I'm actually a fun person to be with."

Caroline giggled at his dramatics. She was a bit nervous of being alone with Kol. Yes, they're in speaking terms and jokes at one another but that doesn't mean she already knows him well. He was a bit crazy during their time in Mystic Falls from what she heard.

"So, where are we going? We're not going to kill anyone, right?" Caroline checked as she gave Kol a stern look. Kol chuckled. "Sadly no, darling." Caroline still looked at him with suspicion.

Kol rolled his eyes. "Yes, I'm the wildest among my siblings but I'm not always wild, Caroline."

Caroline shrugged, "Just making sure."

"We're visiting Davina." Kol declared.

"Davina? The witch?" Caroline asked in surprise. Kol nodded.

"I heard Marcel and her are very close." Caroline said thoughtfully. Kol nodded again in seriousness.

Caroline evaluated his expression and gasped. "You have a thing for her!" Caroline shrieked.

"What? No! What are you talking about?" Kol retorted. He furrowed his eyebrows at her random proclamation.

"Rebekah said you have a thing for witches."

Kol huffed, "I did but that was before I was daggered for centuries! I'm absolutely happy being single right now." Kol stated. "And there's a war going on."

"Good, because from what I have heard, the girl's pretty young." Caroline smirked.

"Give me some credit, Caroline. I've lived for a thousand of years. I've learnt a thing or two." Kol whined. Caroline giggled, "Just teasing you."

Davina was busy drawing when she heard a knock on her door. She was surprised to see Kol Mikaelson and the blonde vampire she trapped on their house before. "Kol." Davina greeted.

Kol gave her a smirk and went inside of her apartment. "Nice to see you too, darling. Now invite my friend inside." Kol ordered. Davina was about to protest when Kol gave her a cold look. "Invite her."

Davina was a bit frightened of the look and said. "You may come in." The blonde vampire smiled at her with gratefulness and stepped inside. "I'm Caroline Forbes. You must be Davina." The blonde vampire introduced herself and offered her hand. Davina eyed her hand for a moment and accepted hesitatingly. They gave each other a polite smile.

Davina was on her guard because she doesn't know anything about Caroline. She doesn't know if she was truly on their side or just acting. There's a war going on and the French Quarter coven is after her. She doesn't want to let her defenses down just because she knows the Original family. She looked at Caroline from head to foot and tried to assess her.

"Davina, if you're having doubts about our lovely Caroline here, I can assure you that this one is the most ethical among all of us." Kol said airily but he shot Davina a warning look.

Caroline turned to Kol and smirked. "Aww, I didn't know you think so highly of me Kol."

Kol made a face while she laughed.

Davina observed the two in front of her. They talked about topics she can't understand. It must be about their past experiences. Davina was caught off-guard by the way Kol looked at her when he warned her about Caroline. He was always the nonchalant one in his family but earlier, he was like ready to show his fangs if she disobeyed him.

"Show me your drawings, witch." Kol ordered her. She saw Caroline gave Kol a disapproving look but Kol just shrugged and mouthed a 'what?'

"Why are you asking for my drawings?" She asked.

"Marcel mentioned it to me. You were drawing things that were really random." Kol replied. "It freaks Marcel out."

"And why does it concerns you?" Davina questioned bravely.

"You're a witch, darling. I'm quite sure that your drawings involve magic and aren't really random."

Davina looked at him suspiciously. Kol lifted an eyebrow in annoyance by the witch's behavior. "Does this hesitation of yours indicates that you're really not on our side? If so, I'll gladly rip this room of yours apart and find those bloody drawings myself after I kill you."

"You wouldn't dare." Davina tried to put up a brave face even though it gave shivers to her spine.

Kol smirked and showed the veins on his face. "Oh try me little witch. I'm not usually this pleasant before."

Caroline looked back and forth between the two and intervened. "Davina, I know you might be suspicious especially of me but we're not your enemies. So can you please show us the drawings?" She said it politely. Davina gave her a once over look and sighed in defeat. "Fine." She walked towards her drawings.

"You could've just asked politely." Caroline said to Kol.

"And where's the fun in that?" Kol grinned at her.

"You're really like your brother. Deep love for death threats and spouts it unnecessarily." Caroline pointed out.

Davina tilted her head to sneak a glance at the two. "Did she mean Klaus? Because I don't think Elijah spouts threats unnecessarily." She thought.

Kol chuckled. "We have the same blood after all."

"Here it is." Davina said and gave it to Kol. The other two began to look at the drawings and passed one to the other. "Marcel's right. They're pretty random and I've been drawing them for few days now. I'm not really sure why." Davina explained.

Kol eyed every page of the drawings carefully and passed it to Caroline. She was right. It was definitely random. There were only lines, curves, shades and shapes. You can't even identify what is the subject in the drawing.

Davina crossed her arms. "Why did you say that the drawings involves magic?"

"Because I've been with coven of witches before. I've seen this kind of occurrence." Kol replied as he passed all the drawings to Caroline.

Davina observed Kol as he thought hard and tried to figure out the drawings. Davina bit her lip. "While I was drawing, I felt a sense of danger coming. The spirits were telling me to figure out the drawing because it is the answer and..."

"And a warning." Kol finished her sentence. "You were right. This is definitely not a good sign." They fell into silence as they each figure out the random drawings in the minds carefully. A while later, Kol and Davina approached Caroline. She sat on the floor of the corner of the room. They saw the drawings being connected together and created a bigger picture. A face. A woman's face.

"That's smart. You figured what the drawing was." Kol teased.

Caroline rolled her eyes. "I wondered why some of the first drawings were a bit connected."

Kol grinned, "And I'm glad that I've brought you along."

Caroline scoffed, "Save me from your flattery, Kol. We have other things to consider. Like who the hell is this?!"

Kol chuckled. "I'm sure you can figure it out. You're a smart one."

Caroline gave Kol a pointed look. "Kol, do I look old to you?" She pointed the drawings on the floor and emphasized. "This face is old. Like old old. Centuries old!" Kol chuckled at her dramatics and patted her back.

Davina observed the interaction between the two. The kind of banter they do made her assume that Caroline might really be an old friend with the Original Family. The way she perceived their interaction... it's like they've been through so much together.

When Davina first saw Caroline, she was a bit different. Marcel said that she has her humanity off that time. She doesn't really know what that means but she accepted his explanation. The next time was at the Rousseau's. She came in together with Rebekah and a brunette. The family welcomed them like they were good old friends and she noticed that Camille was a bit put out when she returned after taking their orders. She mumbled about who the girl was.

"Do you know who those girls are?" Camille asked and tilted her head.

"I think the blonde one was the vampire I placed a boundary spell." Davina answered.

Josh turned to look. "She was at the party and also at the mini gatherings the Abattoir had these days. She was like the bartender or something. She makes awesome drinks though. I specially like the limited ones she made. Anyway, everyone was curious about her but Marcel said she was a newbie vampire turned by Kol." Josh shared.

"She sure is close to the Originals for a newbie vampire." Camille grumbled.

"Marcel told me she was an acquaintance." Davina arched an eyebrow at the different answers.

Josh shrugged, "I don't know which one is true but you can't deny she has strong back up if somebody ever try to hurt her."

"She's probably some minion to the family. You know, trying to use her then dispose her if her purpose is done." Camille stated grimly. Davina would have believed Cami if she just didn't witness Klaus dancing with her. Klaus has an expression of completely un-Klaus like.

"I can't believe she dared Klaus to dance and he gave in." Josh exclaimed. Davina gave him a questioning look. "Vamp hearing." Josh replied as he pointed his ear. "But that was all I can hear. Still a newbie."

Camille snorted and looked at the pair. "Well, she is pretty. Klaus might have just want to flirt with her."

Davina was surprise with Camille's remarks. She must've been jealous that Klaus' attention was entirely focused to the blonde. Klaus talks to Cami whenever he's in the bar. She must be upset that he didn't talk to her today. Davina thought Klaus might have some sort of feelings for Camille but somehow doubt it for a time because every time Marcel mentions Camille to Klaus, the other Original siblings will either snort or roll their eyes. They gave an impression that they don't really consider Camille as a friend.

Davina halted her thinking when she heard Caroline called her out. She turned and gave them a questioning look.

"If you're done day dreaming little witch then perhaps you should help us figure out whose face is this." Kol grunted.

Caroline gave Kol a glare and looked at Davina. "Are you alright? Are you having visions?"

Davina was confused by her question.

"Visions. I have a witch friend. She used to gape into space when she was having visions." Caroline explained.

Davina shook her head. "No, I was just thinking."

Caroline 'ohhed' and looked at Kol.

Davina eyed Caroline curiously and thought. "Witch friend? Well, that proves that she's not a newly turned vampire."

"Grace us with your knowledge little witch. Does this face seems familiar to you?" Kol asked. Davina shook her head, "I've never seen her before."

"I'm certain that it's a witch." Caroline said and nodded her head.

"Well done, captain obvious." Kol stated plainly.

Caroline glared at him in return. "Why don't you make a guess who this is then." Kol stared at the picture and scrunched his nose. "Nope. Can't recognize her. I'm certain that she's not from this era though."

"Maybe she's one of the ancestors?" Davina suggested.

"Perhaps. Since it's a family of yours then try digging your family history." Kol shrugged.

Davina was about to protest when Kol eyed coldly. "You want to end this war, right? You want to help Marcel? Then do this." Kol ordered and turned towards the door. "Sweet Caroline, let's go."

Caroline sighed at Kol's arrogant behavior and tapped Davina's shoulder. "I'll try to help you soon." She followed Kol out of the room.

Davina shook her head. She now have things to do and she still can't figure out who Caroline is after their encounter. She was curious when Kol said that she was the most ethical among them. Was it true or just a lie? It was difficult to asses her.

Marcel day drank at the Rousseau's. He was done with Klaus' orders for the day and wanted to give himself a time to think. It's been a hectic few weeks. Klaus barked orders everywhere to locate every witch in the city. Klaus planned on a surprise attack and wanted all the information he can get before doing so. "So much for waiting for the witches to make their move." He thought.

"Isn't a bit early for you to be drinking, Marcel?" Camille said as she entered the bar area to start her shift.

Marcel chuckled, "I'm done with Klaus' orders and I don't have anything else to do."

"Then why don't you join the other Originals?"

Marcel shrugged. "They're busy."

Camille raised an eyebrow. "So their guests are still here huh." Camille huffed. "Aren't they extending their visit far too long? With all the war going on."

Marcel smirked, "Someone's not pleased with their presence."

Camille scoffed and mumbled. "Since their appearance, the Originals have been really busy. Too busy to interact."

Marcel noted the tone of Camille's voice. He could see that Camille didn't like the guests' sudden appearance in the city. He watched Camille worked quietly. Camille is a human but she knows about the supernatural occurrences in the city. Klaus talked and compelled her ample of times when he arrived at New Orleans. Then it was later known that her uncle was the de facto leader of the human faction in New Orleans. Unfortunately, he became one of the collateral damages of the current war as well as Camille's twin brother. Marcel really liked Camille even when she was still unaware about supernatural. Now he considered her as one of the few friends he can confide to.

"Ahh. The Originals' guests. Katherine and Caroline." Marcel thought. He kept himself in the shadows these past few days and observed the series of events unfolded before him. He has always been curious about who Caroline is. Before the blonde appeared in New Orleans, the Original siblings happened to mention her a couple of times. In hush voices and mostly when they were annoyed with Klaus. They always mentioned about the blonde's stubbornness and bluntness whenever they recalled their adventures in Mystic Falls. They mentioned her name and snickered. When Marcel gathered his courage and asked them about it, the siblings only gave each other knowing glances while Klaus remained stoic.

Marcel is not stupid. He knew that Caroline meant something to the Originals. He saw how the Originals reacted when Caroline was involved. There was unity among them. No words were needed to instruct. All of them instinctively knew what to do like how...

Everyone gathered at the courtyard. The vampires of the French Quarter were all present. Marcel called them all and immediately told the Originals that Camille was captured by the witches. They planned how to rescue her and tried to locate Camille's hidden location. Suddenly, Rebekah arrived with her phone clutched in her hand. She wore an alarmed expression and also a trace of sadness.

"Nik!" She called. Everyone turned to look and hear what she was about to say. The three Mikaelson boys including Marcel were at the center.

"Why are you in a hurry, sister?" Kol said casually. Kol was about to make a joke until he saw Rebekah's facial expression. "What's the matter, Bekah?"

Rebekah's face was grim. "Sheriff Forbes' dead."

The three Mikaelson stood still as they all looked at Rebekah with wide eyes.

Marcel furrowed his eyebrows since he doesn't recognize the name that was mentioned.

Kol tapped Klaus' shoulder as if to wake him up from his reverie.

"Niklaus." Elijah called out.

Klaus awoke from staring into space and turned to Rebekah. His face was indescribable.

"Who told you?" Klaus demanded stiffly.

"M-Matt." Rebekah stuttered.

"The quarterback?" Kol checked.

Rebekah nodded.

"Where is she now?" Klaus demanded again.

"She's still there. Matt's with her." Rebekah answered.

"Elijah." Klaus called out and tried to calm his voice. Not allowing a tint of emotion to show.

Elijah nodded. "Go ahead Niklaus. We'll handle this."

Klaus walked away when Marcel blocked his path. "Where are you going?! Camille's been captured, Klaus!" Marcel yelled.

"Get out of my way, Marcellus." Klaus snarled.

"Not until you'll tell me that you're saving Cami." Marcel countered. He was worried and he won't allow anything to happen to her.

Klaus' face transformed. His eyes turned yellow and showed his fangs. "I don't have time for this. I have far more important matters to attend to."

"Matters that are more important than Camille?" Marcel challenged. He was confident with his question but when he looked at the siblings behind Klaus shaking their heads, he was having second thoughts.

Klaus edged forward to Marcel. His stance was unyielding and threatening. "Get out of the way or I'll rip your heart out right here, right now."

Marcel looked at Klaus in disbelief. He saw in Klaus' eyes that he was dead serious with the threat. He took a step back but still stared at Klaus. The moment he settled, Klaus was nowhere to be found. Marcel looked at the other Originals. Rebekah and Elijah gave him a tight smile while Kol shrugged nonchalantly. "You're lucky he didn't stab you."

Just before they carried out the rescue Camille mission, Marcel saw the three remaining originals huddled up in a far corner. They opted not to include themselves in the mission. He noted that Rebekah was on the phone. Marcel used his vamp hearing to listen and he heard Klaus' voice. He was about to listen further when Kol glared daggers at him. He tuned out and swallowed a little. He might be acquainted with the Originals but still, Kol was the wildest one among them. He doesn't want to get into Kol's wild side and somehow, he always knew that Kol never liked him even when he was still a little child.

After he saved Camille, he discovered that the Originals were on their way to rescue Klaus who was also captured by the witches.

Marcel remembered that he was really curious who the Sheriff was at that time. The name just doesn't ring a bell to him at all. Sheriff Forbes. When Caroline arrived here, he found out that Caroline's full name was Caroline Forbes so he concluded that the two must be related. Later he found out that Sheriff Forbes' was Caroline's mother. Marcel drank his drink. Everything comes down to Caroline.

Marcel stared at Camille. Come to think of it, Camille and Caroline have some similarities. Both are blondes and both are wise and blunt. Though there's a certain glow in Caroline that Camille doesn't have. He shrugged. He always thought that Camille was something else since Klaus talked to her every time he was here in Rousseau's. Not just him but everyone assumed that Camille was something. Marcel was also convinced because he saw Klaus' eyes reflected fondness when he talked to her in the beginning.

Then Caroline arrived unannounced, humanity off and a bit of an alcoholic. Marcel shook his head. Those times were quite an event. Party and mini gatherings. Klaus' morning arguments with Caroline. He saw the Originals planned without arguing. Elijah's frequent smirks, Kol's friendliness, Rebekah was a bit happy and Klaus' smiling. Klaus' smiling! Not an evil or a I'm manipulating you smile. A real smile and it happened often! He saw the Originals made a fuss just to turn on her humanity. He was annoyed when Kol hindered him from watching them.

Marcel was not naïve. He clearly saw the difference of treatment of Caroline and Camille from the Originals. To Camille, it was for polite and civil purposes while to Caroline... Caroline's different.

And there's Katherine. He heard the name mentioned but not often. He knew that there's a certain issue between Klaus and Katherine but he doesn't know what. He also noted something between Elijah and Katherine. Unlike Caroline, Katherine gave out a distrusting aura. Marcel didn't know if he should trust her. He intended to find out more things about her whether she's an ally or not soon.

After visiting Davina, Kol and Caroline wandered around the city. Even though Klaus already toured Caroline around, she still got fascinated with the view. Kol also showed Caroline the supernatural spots in the city in which Klaus must have forgotten to show her.

"I can't believe Klaus forgot to show me this!" Caroline exclaimed.

Kol grinned, "I can't say that he might have forgotten these places, lass. I think he intentionally left these out."

Caroline mocked, "That stupid hybrid. So much for letting me see everything the city have."

"Well aren't you glad that you have me. I've let you see what Nik doesn't want you to see." Kol teased. Caroline grumbled. When the sun began to set the two decided to go to Rousseau's' to chill out. They chatted about random things while on their way there.

Caroline giggled about something that Kol joked then she mentioned. "You know Kol, for someone who is known as the wildest, this hang out is far from wild that I expected."

Kol chuckled. "Trust me, I'm quite tamed nowadays. I'm only wild when there are enemies in vicinity or just when I'm bored and I feel like it." Kol whispered jokingly, "I can't also be wild when I'm at the same place with Nik. He still holds my dagger, you know."

Caroline laughed, "Then you need to be really careful or else say goodbye for this century."

Kol shook his head at her teasing then opened up. "I really tried my best to warn your Mystic Gang that finding Silas and waking him up will do you no good."

"Yeah, I've heard about your frantic acts of warning but then they all decided to trap and kill you instead. I'm sorry about that." Caroline was apologetic. Kol gave her a half smile. "You're not the one at fault. It was mostly the Gilberts, lass. And hey, I'm still alive. Elijah saved me from the trap. The handsome Mikaelson lives." He kidded.

Caroline laughed. "But still, I apologize. The Originals were pretty much declared as villains in my town. That's why I didn't say anything while they plotted your death. Actually, I don't remember being present in that discussion." She realized.

"When they trapped me, that was also the moment I realized that warning you guys was a dumb move on my part. Every pain that Silas caused, your friends deserved it." Kol looked at Caroline like he dare her to try and defend her friends.

Caroline smiled bitterly instead. "When they failed to kill you, they found another way to complete the map. They did their best and did unimaginable things, I guess. It was all because Elena wants the cure and be human again."

Kol made a face. "You lot sure do anything for that selfish doppelganger."

Caroline chuckled humorlessly. "I'll assume that you also have similar opinions with Bekah and Kat about Elena."

"Perhaps." Kol shrugged indifferently. "If they say that your friend is pretty much a self-centered bitch then yes. We do have similar opinions, darling."

Caroline gave him a pointed look which he responded with a grin. They continued to walk in silence.

"Kol, you said that you are tamed nowadays. Why are you trying to be tamed?" Caroline asked frankly.

Kol furrowed his eyebrows in surprise by the question. Caroline saw it and raised her hands. "It's fine if you don't want to answer. I'm sorry that I asked a very personally one."

"I wanted to spend time with my family." Kol said in a low voice and tilted his head.

Caroline looked at him questioningly.

"I was always been the wildest one in the family and being wild drove me away from my family. My wanderlust also consumed me so I traveled alone. It was kind of fun and relaxing with no one trying to lecture me about my behavior. But as time went by, I began to feel lonely so I tried to search where my family was. I involved myself with witches and still kept my wild antics. Before I knew it, I got myself daggered for decades." Kol recalled.

"But Elijah undaggered you, why didn't you flee?"

"When I was undaggered, everyone was there. It got me excited and a little nostalgic maybe." Kol smirked as he recalled how he stabbed Nik and seriously continued. "I felt the need to be in their company or maybe make them care for me a little bit more. We're a family. We made a vow that keeps us together despite everything. Even though I was not present when the vow was first made. We're the Originals, sweetheart." Kol smiled at Caroline. "Always and Forever."

In all honesty, Caroline was taken a back with Kol's inner affection with his family. The others always proclaimed him as someone who doesn't want to be with his family at all times and also the indifferent one but right now, Kol voiced out his deep affections. She was happy that Kol trusted her enough to let her know about his hidden emotions.

"Aw, Kol. You never said that you were such a softie." Caroline teased and lightened up their conversation. Kol glared at her playfully. "If you ever breathe a word about this, I'll never talk to you again." Caroline stuck her tongue out in response and smiled sincerely, "And for the record, your brother does care about you. Even more than you think." She remembered how Klaus grabbed her arms tightly and accused her outside of Mystic Grill. His worry for his little brother was evident on his face.

Kol smiled a little at that and changed the topic. "It was nice to have you as an accompany, Caroline." He had fun spending time with her today. He showed her the supernatural spots, played voodoo dolls, and they even visited the streets with full of witches busy entertaining the human tourists. They were the ones who declared to be neutral and doesn't want to involve themselves in the current war.

"Why didn't you offer Bekah to accompany you instead?" Caroline asked.

Kol looked at her as if she said a stupid thing.

"Have you talked to Bekah, Caroline? Who would want to have a snarky woman to accompany him?!" Kol joked and Caroline giggled. Kol continued to ramble about his daring sister as she listened and added her cent or two.

Kol and Caroline arrived at the Rousseau's'. Everyone turned to look at them. Some already got used to see Caroline with some Original while most still wondered why she knows the Originals and why she looked close to them. There were lots of question but are left unanswered. Others started to doubt Marcel's story about her being new vampire and Kol was the one who turned her.

"Seriously! Do they have to turn and look every time we arrive?" Caroline hissed.

"One of the perks of being and being with an Original, darling." Kol said and winked.

"Make them stop staring."

"Let them stare."

"Kol!"

Kol sighed and glared at the vampires. They were terrified and looked the other way. "Works every time." Kol grinned. Caroline rolled her eyes.

"So, we're getting ourselves drunk tonight." Kol joyed.

Caroline shook her head. "No." Kol pulled a face. She tilted her head, "Billiards?"

Kol looked at the empty pool table and smirked. "Game on."

"I'm beating you this time." Caroline declared as she grabbed the stick. Kol laughed when he remembered their games when she still have no humanity. She was annoyed that she couldn't beat him. She challenged him for about a dozen times. "Give it a try." Kol challenged and motioned her to start the game.

After a few rounds, Kol chuckled. "You're really not good at this."

Caroline slapped his arm. "Hey! I may not be really good like you but I don't suck!"

Kol laughed as he hit the cue ball to start another round. Caroline huffed when some balls dropped down the pockets.

"So, are we going to talk about Nik?" Kol casually asked as he continued to play.

"What about him?" Caroline asked back.

"You were complaining about him earlier." Kol answered knowingly.

Caroline huffed, "You brother's a bipolar."

Kol snorted, "And why is that?"

And that was the cue for Caroline to start ranting about Klaus. "I mean, I just don't understand him! One moment he was this sweet gentleman but next he was this distant creep! Like when we toured, he was being distant and cautious. It was like Klaus being... Klaus!"

Kol snickered, "Uh-huh. And Klaus being Klaus means?"

"The Klaus 'Big Bad Evil Vindictive Hybrid'! Then at night when I was in my room, I usually voice out my cravings and the next thing I know I open door and see a tray of my cravings ready!"

Kol cringed at the cheesy gesture of his brother. He also happen to bumped into Klaus the previous nights in the hallway where Caroline's room was. Klaus must've been there at all time lurking around even though his room was just right across of hers.

"Do you understand me, Kol?! You brother's a..." Caroline continued and tried to find the right word.

"I believe the word you're trying to find is 'complicated'. " Kol snickered.

"Something like that!" Caroline instantly agreed and mumbled. "And I just notice that he's distant whenever we're not in the house and I think that maybe he's ashamed that he 'fancies' me."

Kol perked up at that and looked around the place. He noted that his glare earlier worked and no vampire dared to listen to them. "Oh lass, you should not consider yourself as an embarrassment." He moved closer to Caroline and whispered to her ear. "You're his weakness, darling."

Caroline rolled her eyes and scoffed. "As if."

Kol shook his head in amusement. She didn't actually believe him so he added. "Besides, only the family knows about that. Well, Katherine too. I'm sure that Marcel's starting to pick it up and it's only a matter of time, others will."

"That's not true! It can't be!" Caroline refused to believe.

"Trust me it is, Care. He's being like this for your protection."

"If that's the case then he should be closer to me instead. Be with me 24/7. Declare that I should not be harmed. Something like that! Your assumption is full of loopholes, Kol. He's just definitely ashamed." Caroline pointed him the cue stick then took her turn.

Kol was about to protest when another voice inserted. "But we're at war right now, Miss Forbes. We can't afford to show weakness and leverages to use against us." Elijah casually approached the two.

"Elijah." Caroline gasped.

"Miss Forbes. Kol." Elijah greeted.

"Please Elijah, call me Caroline." Caroline offered and Elijah just smiled. She's been encouraging him to call her that ever since she decided to stay.

"Were you eavesdropping, brother?" Kol asked accusingly.

"No, I just happen to listen to you talk when I was approaching."

"Nik put you up to this, am I right?" Kol checked.

Elijah shook his head. "Niklaus and I separated when we were done with the things to do today."

"And you didn't return to the Abattoir because... " Kol trailed off innocently but his suppressed smirk gave him away.

"Probably avoiding someone, Kol. Someone brunette." Caroline smirked.

Elijah fixed his tie. "I happen to crave a certain drink right now." Kol snorted and took his turn to hit the cue ball. "We most likely have every type of alcohol in the house brother."

"Why don't you just talk to Katherine, Elijah." Caroline grinned and leaned on the cue stick. "I'm sure you have lots of questions that only she can answer." She added knowingly.

"Here you are! You lot sure know how to hide yourselves from Nik!"

The three turned around. "Little sister! Lovely of you to grace us with your presence."

Rebekah rolled her eyes. "I need to escape from Nik's tantrums especially when his minions went back to inform him about how they lost track of the two of you." She gave Kol and Caroline a pointed look.

Kol and Caroline looked sheepish. Earlier, Kol noticed Klaus' minions following them. He motioned to Caroline about what he found and Caroline nodded her head. They trapped and snapped the minions' necks and hid them behind a storage building.

"You certainly pissed Niklaus this time, Kol."

"A pissed Nik means a fun Nik, 'Lijah."

Camille was already working when Kol and Caroline arrived at the bar. She noticed how Kol glared at the other vampires to make them look the other way. She waited for them to approach the bar counter but they went to the pool table instead. Camille stared at the two from time to time when she wasn't serving customers. If only she has vamp-hearing so that she can listen to their conversation.

Camille watched Kol and Caroline interact casually and heard Kol laugh. She never saw Kol laugh without evilness beneath it. It was a pure enjoyment laugh. She can't help but wonder the blonde's identity and concluded that she must've a close relationship with Kol because of what she observed today.

She was bitter to the blonde from the first time she served her. The Originals treated her like how they treated Klaus. Like when she ordered, Klaus protested but the other Originals backed the blonde up instead of Klaus and he didn't make a fuss when his wish wasn't followed. He even danced with her! If she's something to Kol, why dance with Klaus? The nerve of her.

"Maybe he didn't make a fuss because she's very close to Kol." Camille smiled a little and pleased with her conclusion. "So she was treated like this because of Kol and not because of Klaus after all."

She saw Elijah approached them followed by Rebekah. They talked so casually and she noticed again how the Originals let loose a bit and enjoyed the conversation. Smirks, grins and smiles were exchanged between the four. That never happened with her before. The Originals interacted with her with distance and politeness only. Never casually as if they were friends. At first, Camille was proud that the Originals interacted with her willingly but seeing the scene before her now, it made her bitter and envious.

That should be her standing with the Originals. That should be her who they exchanged grins and smirks with. That should be her who is being favored by the Originals. If that blonde vampire is treated like that because of Kol then they should've treated her in the same regard. They should even treat her with a bit higher regard than her, right? Since she was the one that Klaus likes.

Marcel even said so before. He said he never saw Klaus interacted with someone the way he interacts with Camille before. Even the Quarter's vampires said so too. Yet the Originals remained distant with her. Camille always thought that it was just their way of securing her welfare but then this girl suddenly showed up and the Originals fussed over her. Doing things that were unexpected from them. It stirred some negative emotions inside of Camille. She doesn't like it. Just who the hell is this girl?!

Camille was extremely annoyed by the sight so she decided to walk over and interrupt their conversation.

"Looks like all of you are enjoying here." Camille said and faked a smile.

"We were until you arrived." Rebekah drawled with a tint of annoyance because of her interruption.

Camille had enough with her behavior and snapped. "Careful with your tongue, Rebekah. I'm sure your brother won't hesitate to dagger you."

They all blinked at Camille's threat. Caroline raised an eyebrow at her statement. "You mean Klaus?"

At the same time Rebekah reacted in incredulity. "You dare threaten an Original?" Her hands shook because of irritation.

Camille ignored Rebekah and turned to Caroline. She smiled in confidence. "Why yes, Klaus happen to have a soft spot for me."

Caroline furrowed her eyebrows and looked at the Originals. They noticed the curiosity flashed in her eyes. "Oh really?"

"Do you need anything Miss 'o' Connell?" Elijah cut in.

"Yes!" Camille confidently raised her head and pointed at Caroline. "I want to know who the hell is she?!"

The Originals sighed at the situation. They expected this to happen at some point. However, they didn't expect that Camille would demand it at Rousseau's. Also, not from them and definitely not in the open and in front of the other vampires. They expected Camille to show up at the Abattoir and demand an explanation from Klaus.

Caroline was offended by her attitude. "Excuse me?!"

"Ohhh. She's going to get it." Kol sang in excitement.

"I want them to explain to me who you are and what you mean to them." Camille arched an eyebrow arrogantly at Caroline. "You suddenly showed up here and they made such gestures that were unexpected. It was far from evil, vindictive, manipulative. You guys looked a lot less of a monster than the time you arrived here!" She crossed her arms and turned to the Originals. "This tramp's changing you!"

"I'm not changing them!" Caroline profusely stated. "Who are you calling tramp?! What's your problem with me bitch?" Caroline was mad. She just got insulted. Right in the face. There's no way she's going to let this girl go without hurting her.

Camille examined Caroline from head to foot. "So I see a vain girl with insecurity issues and petty cravings. It's not enough for you to capture Kol's attention but also want the other Originals'. Fame must be really important to you because you aim to have the same as theirs." She tilted her head and patronized, "Did I get that right, Barbie?"

Caroline was taken a back by Camille's words.

"Oh no she didn't..." Kol covered his chuckle when Elijah gave him a stern look.

"Unbelievable!" Rebekah snarled and took a step when Caroline held her back.

"Are you a person with prejudice or something because what you said was not very nice. And in case you used the word Barbie to patronize me, then you should consider that you're a blonde yourself." Caroline faked a smile and took a step closer to Camille. "You asked who I am? Well, nice to meet you Ms. Smarty pants. I'm Caroline Forbes. Not vain insecure petty Barbie."

Caroline placed her hands on her hips. "So you're the judgy type. Don't worry, I'm a judgmental person too." She leaned to Camille and acted to sniff. "Oh. A silly weak human. I don't know if you're brave or incredibly stupid to insult someone who's obviously stronger than you." She shot Camille a once over look and didn't even bother to be subtle. "By the looks of it, you're the older one but it seems like you're more childish than I am."

Rebekah smirked at Caroline's comment while Camille glared daggers at her. Caroline gave her a Miss Mystic smile and took one more step closer towards her. "Now it's my turn to ask. Who the hell are you?" Caroline hissed.

"I'm Camille and I'm.." Camille put up a brave face.

"A human." Caroline finished and touched Camille behind her neck. "A very fragile human." Caroline lifted her eyebrow knowingly and moved her hand away from Camille. "You dare walk up here and demand an explanation from them. Who do you think you are? You act like you're close with the Originals which by the way I doubt since they never mentioned you. So, can you just drop the act and walk away before I lose control and rip your hair out from your head." Caroline vehemently said and showed her fangs a little.

"Ohhhh. Catfight!" Kol cheered at the scene.

Rebekah seethed because of Camille.

Elijah sighed loudly at the confrontation.

"I got the drinks!" Katherine suddenly appeared out of nowhere and announced. She noted the situation she walked into. She saw Caroline and Rebekah controlled their anger and Kol was a bit giddy. Elijah looked helpless while Camille glared darkly at Caroline. Katherine looked at the Originals and tilted her head to Camille. "Did she already make a scene?"

"Unfortunately." Elijah answered.

Katherine knew that Camille would obviously make a scene but she didn't know when. She noticed how Camille looked at them whenever they're here. Jealousy was evident in the girl's eyes. She grinned and turned to Kol and Rebekah. She opened her palm. "Alright, pay up! I won the bet. I told you it's going to be this week."

Caroline and Elijah looked at her in confusion.

Rebekah and Kol groaned and grumbled. Katherine smirked, "Come on. It's not like you don't have any money."

Rebekah and Kol grabbed their wallets and laid dollars on Katherine's palm. The two Originals continued to grumble while Katherine chirped, "Thank you."

"What's going on here?" Camille questioned with an aghast look on her face because of their attitude.

Katherine rolled her eyes and turned to Camille. "Go away Blondie 2.0. You're not needed here."

Camille scoffed, "You're the one who's not needed."

Katherine narrowed her eyes. "Really? I think I'm far more needed and important than you are, Camille."

Before anything else happens, Elijah took action. "I believe you should leave Miss 'o' Connell. Your presence is not welcomed anymore."

Camille looked at them while they glared menacingly at her. She huffed and walked away but not before mumbling, "Klaus will hear about this."

Rebekah turned to look at her older brother. "Can I just slap her, just this once?"

"Make it two, Bekah. I want to slap her too." Katherine sipped her tequila.

Caroline looked at them and pointed at Camille. "Please tell me that Klaus did not flirt with that girl!"

The Originals shrugged. "Nik hired her to be his stenographer before." Kol quipped and clinked drinks with Katherine.

Caroline furrowed her brows. "For what?"

"For his memoirs." Elijah answered and took one glass of drink from Katherine. Caroline scoffed.

"More like compelled her to be one. And he also compelled her to be his therapist for a short while. He wanted her to say things he wanted to hear or find excuses for him." Rebekah shook her head.

"So yeah, Nik always talked to her whenever he's here then others started assuming." Kol stated nonchalantly.

"Now look at her feeling high and mighty because of false assumptions." Rebekah seethed.

"Poor girl." Kathrine snickered.

A/N: And that's chapter five everyone!

I know, I know you probably hate me for making Camille a bit too bitchy in the story but hey I really do think that she's a carbon copy of Caroline. I added some scenes and lines. Hope you liked the edited version.

See you in chapter 6!
