CHAPTER VIII
To say that the Originals are on a warpath is the biggest understatement of the century. After Klaus' declaration of final showdown. The family sobered up and barked orders to everyone. They made sure that everyone knew what they were doing. Honestly, it wasn't even difficult. The vampires just need to go to their assigned location and wreak havoc. Kill the involved witches on sight.
Kol and Elijah talked to Davina and showed her their mother's grimoire. Katherine later joined them and placed an input for their course of action. They made a thorough plan in regards to bringing down Celeste. On the other hand, Rebekah and Klaus intimidated everyone who dares to protest their commands. They planned to inflict fear among them which Marcel thought that was unnecessary. Every vampire present was already afraid of them in the first place.
Poor Josh, right after Klaus and Kol were done with their prior task. They cornered and grilled him about Caroline's whereabouts and what they did together. Josh shivered with the tense gazes and murderous vibe he received from them.
Caroline.
Marcel shook his head as he thought of the blonde vampire.
This one vampire could break the calm and cool Mikaelson aura. IF I was someone who wanted to have a very nice leverage against the Mikaelsons, she would be the perfect one. But then again, you would also know that you're counting your days the moment you have Caroline.
The Original family were on their way to the abandoned building. Marcel wasn't supposedly included in their group but he insisted to come. He started to doubt that they would also realized that they needed to rescue Camille too. Not just Caroline.
It looked like the witches expected them to come. There were mixed covens and started to chant to hurt the vampires but what could you do to the family who was out for blood? Nothing. Marcel watched as the Originals blurred from the sight and attacked the witches. Elijah blurred and grabbed the hearts of two witches at a time without any unnecessary movements. Kol used his bat to hear their wails and drained them dry. Rebekah fought then drank them to die and moved to another. Klaus was vicious. He faced them head on and drank them. He wanted to hear their screams as he ripped their bodies to shred. Marcel had his own share of battles but it was mostly the Mikaelsons who moved from one to the other.
Marcel grabbed a witch tightly and demanded. "Where are they?"
The witch scoffed at him. "I'm not a traitor."
"Do you want me to kill you?" Marcel threatened.
"I don't care. I'm dying anyway." The witch smirked. "You will never find them." Kol flashed behind her and snapped her neck.
"No!" Marcel reacted and glared at Kol. "She was the only one left!"
Kol shrugged. "And she won't succumb. She's better off dead."
"Where is it?!" Klaus yell caught their attention.
"Are you sure we have the right address, Niklaus?" Elijah asked as he wiped his hands.
"Well, there's no bloody abandoned building here! They must have moved them!" Rebekah snarled.
"Cemetery. They must be there. Their powers heightened when they're inside. Blasted witches." Kol realized and grabbed his phone.
"Are you sure there was an abandoned building near the cemetery, Josh?" Katherine checked.
Josh nodded his head nervously in reply.
Katherine was on the phone with Kol. "He's sure, Kol."
"I see no abandon building here, Katherine!" Klaus voice was heard.
"You must be blind then. Can a building walk?" Katherine retorted.
Kol snickered and Klaus' growl was heard on the other line. "Don't think I've forgotten how you involved Caroline in this war. The little witch told me how Caroline helped her research about Celeste. I'll deal with the two of you after this."
"Nik's gone lunatic. He thinks that we taught Caroline how to sneak out of Abattoir undetected." Kol shared.
"Oh brother. I don't think. I know!" Klaus hissed. Katherine rolled her eyes.
"We're on our way to the cemetery. Are you almost done?" Kol changed the topic.
Katherine turned to Davina. The witch started chanting.
"Yes, I'll be there in a few."
"Good. You don't want to miss this."
"Keep my Elijah safe?"
Kol snorted. "Like my older brother needs protecting."
Kol hanged up.
Katherine pouted. She was missing the fun because of the task that was given to her. "Are you done?" She asked impatiently.
Davina still closed her eyes and replied. "Almost."
Katherine tapped her foot on the floor and saw Josh still shivering on the side. It looked like Klaus and Kol still found a way to torment the kid.
"Honey, stop trembling. Klaus won't kill you." Katherine waved off.
"How did you know?" Josh croaked. He's afraid that this must be his last night. Maybe the Originals were just stalling him. Make him feel that he's safe when in fact he's not. He saw how they reacted earlier. It was terrifying. He didn't know they cared that much for Caroline.
"Because Caroline said so." Katherine stated obviously.
"What?" Josh snapped his head towards Katherine. He was confused. How could Caroline stop the Mikaelsons from killing him? Does she have any hold over them? He remembered earlier that Klaus was an inched away from biting him and also killing Davina but Katherine stopped him. She showed him something! "What did you make him read earlier?" He asked curiously.
Katherine smirked. "Make sure to thank Caroline after all this Josh. You owe her your life."
"It's done." Davina declared and stood up. "I think what happened earlier was what Caroline meant about the risks, Josh."
"What? Wait. You mean..." Josh trailed off. Davina nodded and mumbled. "She did mention a family..."
Katherine eyed them curiously and stated. "So, Carebear warned you beforehand."
"She did but I was too focused on the witches." Josh muttered.
Davina noticed Katherine tapped her foot impatiently. "Go. I know you want to help them. The preparations are done. I just need to spell this place so that she couldn't come out later."
Katherine nodded firmly and ordered. "Good. You two stay here. Make sure the other witches wouldn't notice you. Guard the bones." Davina and Josh nodded. "Be alert always." Katherine reminded and flashed away.
"So that's the other guest." Josh murmured. Davina nodded. "It's my first time to interact with her."
"You and me both." Josh replied absentmindedly.
"She seems reliable. Contrary to what Marcel said." Davina muttered as she started to put a spell around the place.
Abandoned building
"Enzo." Caroline gasped in disbelief.
"Blondie." Enzo imitated Caroline.
Caroline tried to glare at Enzo but she's too weak to put an effort on it and breathed slowly. "How did you get here?"
"I walked through the door." Enzo answered sarcastically.
"Oh shut up! Answer me seriously." Caroline demanded.
Enzo chuckled. "As you can see, I'm trying to save you here gorgeous. Questions later." He was busy untying the ropes and winced every now and then. Caroline noticed it and said. "Vervain ropes."
"Glad you figured it out the obvious." Enzo pointed out and winced again. "Bloody hell."
Caroline shook her head and told herself that there's no point in arguing with Enzo right now. She suggested. "Go ask for help."
"Don't worry too much, gorgeous. I've got this. I'm trying to get my body immune to vervain." Enzo declined her suggestion and smirked.
Caroline pursed her lips and went back to her demanding self. "Just hurry up."
"As you wish, your highness." Enzo retorted. Caroline rolled her eyes. "Don't you have a knife or something?"
"Well, I'm sorry. I didn't know vampires still need those stupid tools on daily basis." Enzo countered. Caroline was about to reply when they heard noises outside the room. He motioned her to hush down and mouthed. "Witches." She nodded her head as he quickened his pace to untie the ropes.
When Enzo finally untied the ropes, Caroline stumbled a little then caught her balance. She looked at him and smiled in relief. "Thanks." Enzo smiled back and fixed her messy hair. "No problem Goldilocks."
"As much as I would like to interrogate you right now but I don't have time to chat. I have to save someone." Caroline quickly rambled and flashed away. Enzo rolled his eyes and flashed away to follow her. They stopped in a quiet hallway and Caroline suppressed the pain she felt as she tried to locate Camille. Enzo tapped her lightly and tilted his head towards a room. They exchanged understanding looks.
"Looks like the hybrid was just here." Agnes sneered as she approached Camille. The blonde's hands were still tied up as she stood.
"Took him long enough." Camille muttered exhaustedly. "I told you he'll come and save me."
Agnes laughed at her response. "It seems like we made a mistake in choosing the leverage, Camille." She stepped closer to Camille and touched her arm maliciously. "It looks like you're going to see your family soon."
"What do you mean?" Camille trembled in fear as she struggled. Agnes smirked and continued. "Klaus didn't even notice your-" She didn't finish her statement when Caroline suddenly pinned her on the wall.
Agnes was surprised to see her. She was breathing hard. "How...?"
"Where's Sabine?!" Caroline demanded as she growled at her.
"I don't know." Agnes croaked in pain. Caroline tightened her grip on Agnes' neck.
"You.." Camille gasped. Caroline turned to Camille and pushed Agnes towards Enzo. "Hello Camille." She greeted.
"Where's Klaus? Did he send you to save me?" Camille asked in alarm. She looked around the room and waited for someone to appear.
Caroline rolled her eyes and muttered. "Like that'll ever happen." She grabbed the ropes and destroyed it using her vampire strength. "We don't have much time, come on." She instructed and for once, Camille didn't bother to argue and just nodded. Camille took a step when she felt her knees weakened. "What happened?" Caroline asked worriedly and held Camille.
"I stood for a long time. My knees probably.." Camille explained and stretched her legs for while while Caroline assisted her. They moved and were about to get out when Caroline screamed in pain and clutched her head. Enzo noticed Agnes chanting so he snapped the witch's neck.
"Enzo!" Caroline scolded and she stood straight.
"Murderous vampire here." Enzo replied indifferently. "Surprise."
Caroline gave him a 'I'll deal with you later' look. They moved out of the room and ran in the hallway. Camille ran between the vampires when suddenly, the two clutched their heads together. Jane Anne stepped out of the shadows and demanded. "Where's Agnes?!"
"Bloody witch!" Enzo growled as he glared daggers at her.
Jane Anne increased her power for the aneurysm. The two vampires reacted in pain. "What's happening?! Stop this!" Camille said in panic. Jane Anne moved closer to them and Camille hid behind Caroline and threatened. "You have to get through them first before you can get me."
Jane Anne smiled in amusement. "Oh Camille. How conceited are you? Didn't you realize by now that you actually have no value after all?" She chuckled and stepped closer to Caroline. She grabbed her face and squeezed it tightly. "You, on the other hand."
"What do you want from me?" Caroline gritted her teeth in pain.
"I want my revenge." Jane Anne sneered and started to chant. Camille took a step back as Caroline screamed wildly in pain.
When Jane Anne started to chant and made Caroline scream, Enzo regained his strength. He flashed behind Jane Anne and sliced her neck. Camille screamed in shock. Enzo stared at the head a few meters away from the body. "Uhh, not the last expression I wanted to see on her face but I guess that would do." He said as he shook his hand to get rid of the blood.
"ENZO!" Caroline chastised. She staggered a little then she straightened herself.
"What? She was trying to kill you." Enzo stated the obvious. "I was saving you."
"That doesn't mean you have to kill her!" Caroline argued.
"She's a blasted evil witch with murder in her eyes." Enzo countered. Caroline groaned at his reason. Enzo stared hard at Caroline and moved closer to her. "I heard that there's a war going on here. Remember what I told you before? Hesitation can cost a life, Caroline." He said firmly. Caroline stared back in defeat and breathed heavily.
"Who are you?" Camille broke their staring.
Enzo turned to look at Camille and smirked. "Well hello there."
Caroline stepped in front of Camille and sighed. "She's not a meal."
Enzo let out a dramatic breath and raised his arms up. "Alright. Alright. I'll behave."
"Good." Caroline crossed her arms while Camille eyed the two carefully. Suddenly they heard noises and both vampires were alarmed. "Tick tock gorgeous, we have to get out of here." Enzo mentioned. The rest nodded and ran towards the exit. When they were outside of the house, they could hear the noises louder than before. Caroline saw the bodies of other witches and looked at Enzo. He shook his head. "It's not my doing."
"That's coming from the cemetery." Camille talked about the noise as she turned to Caroline and Enzo.
Enzo dramatically sighed. "Witches versus Vampires. Bloody situation. Apparently, the witches angered a certain family and now they are out for blood." He lifted a knowing eyebrow at Caroline.
Caroline looked away and muttered. "Great."
"That's because they're trying to save me! Let's go! We have to stop them." Camille demanded to them.
Caroline suddenly lost her balance and Enzo caught her. "Easy gorgeous, what happened to you?" Caroline didn't reply but instead moaned in pain. Camille was annoyed for the delay and approached Caroline. She noticed there was something on Caroline's neck and moved the shirt away. She gasped. "This is an effect of a werewolf bite right?"
Enzo perked in alarm and looked for a bite. "What?! How?!"
Caroline mumbled. "Someone injected me something earlier. Maybe it's the venom."
Enzo adjusted and let Caroline be comfortable in his arms. "Luckily the cure is in the city."
"I'll find Klaus and I'll tell him to cure you. He'll do anything for me! Just stay here!" Camille stood up and she ran away.
Caroline snorted and croaked in pain. "Big headed bitch."
Enzo was dumbfounded. "Did she really say that?! To you? Of all people?"
Caroline rolled her eyes. "Don't mind her. She thinks so highly of herself."
"I didn't even hear her say thanks." Enzo grumbled.
They stood up slowly and Enzo assisted Caroline. "Come on, I don't want to miss the fun gorgeous." He turned around and urged her to climb on his back. Caroline was outraged by his plan. She declined furiously. "No way! And don't you dare flash away! I have a bite and I'm dizzy! Let's just walk!"
Katherine made her way to the battlefield. She was determined because the moment has finally come. In exchange for the freedom that she desperately wanted for the past centuries, she needed to prove herself. She believed that Klaus pertained it to the current battle. She would help them win this war, show her loyalty, and prove that she deserves it. Why does she bother? Because for the past 500 years, this was the best offer she had and Klaus was directly the one who propositioned to her. This was the ultimate fortune to end their odds to each other once and for all.
She knew it would be hard to believe that she would do this. Prove herself or unfeigned loyalty. She's known to be a liar, murderer, traitor. She manipulated and betrayed everyone she encountered before. She have a very nice track record for that. She spent her whole life running and she couldn't even remember an action she did without benefiting. Like in this setup for example. One would believe that she did this for her benefit. Well, it was true at first but then she grew determined to show these people how genuine she was to them. Funny how spending time with them for weeks or a month could change her perception.
Katherine couldn't even fathom how leading an humanity less Caroline to New Orleans would open to the possibility of her freedom. It was an unexpected blessing. She came to the Big Easy to see how the Originals handled her package and subtly check on her Elijah. Her plan was just to show up, tell them it was her who led Caroline to them, check on Elijah, and leave before Klaus could even do anything to her. It was her one in a million brave plans to risk herself to be in the hybrid's presence. She was caught off-guard when she saw the family tried their best to flip a baby vampire's humanity. Her plan went disarray.
She enjoyed the protection Caroline unknowingly given her. She got the chance to spend and have fun with the ladies. She grew fonder of them and in extension of Kol. Honestly, she already felt free being with them. Given that Klaus still gave her suspicious and tense glances and Elijah still tried his best to avoid her. Despite of it, she felt like she belonged and accepted. It motivated her to prove her sincerity towards them. Guess she would have to thank her blonde friend for the things that happened to her recently.
Katherine giggled as she remembered Caroline's antics. "That sneaky girl. Looks like she had it in her after all."
Earlier, she noticed that she received a text message while everyone planned their course of action. She didn't read it immediately because she was busy contradicting Marcel's stupid ideas.
From: Carebear
Kat, I'm sending Josh back to the compound for an important discovery. Make sure you're there when he arrives. Please keep him safe. AND TELL KLAUS NOT TO KILL THE MESSENGER OR ELSE! ADD DAVINA TO THE LIST!
Katherine finished just in time Josh arrived and everything was fast paced. She woke up from watching absentmindedly when she realized Klaus was about to attack Davina and she intervened. She showed him the message and it angered Klaus more since he couldn't lay a finger to the little witch or Josh the messenger who Klaus now called a disappointing minion.
She arrived outside the cemetery and saw the chaos. She smirked. This is indeed a supernatural war. It's been awhile since she last saw this kind of war. Vampires and Witches. Maybe a little bloodshed could help release her pent up frustrations for all these centuries.
Everyone was fighting someone and she also joined the fun. She grabbed a witch who almost killed a vampire and snapped her neck. She moved on to provide a helping hand to other newbies and settled herself to fight with the older witches. She doesn't really care about killing since this is war and it's not like the witches aimed to just make them unconscious. She fought and led the newbies for a while as she tried to locate the others.
Klaus killed everyone who blocked his way while Elijah only did his signature move and carelessly threw the hearts away. Kol blurred back and forth to the areas where there were ample of witches gathered and did his element. It was his doing whenever a horrifying scream overshadowed the other noises.
A witch enchanted a spell to immobilize Rebekah as other two witches tried to attack her. Katherine stepped in and snapped the neck of the one who casted the spell as Rebekah fought the other two and drained them dry.
"Should've known that giving you the guard duty won't work for you." Rebekah smirked as she wiped her mouth.
Katherine fixed her hair and smirked. "I don't want to let you all have the fun."
Rebekah snickered as the two ladies fought side by side. "You know I do miss war sometimes. I miss the excitement of attacking the opposing side." She pulled the heart of a witch and smiled sinfully at the rest. The others looked at them in fear and ran away but Katherine blocked their path. "Sorry but I don't think you have the privilege of getting away from this." Katherine looked at Rebekah. "We can't let anyone involve live right?"
Rebekah nodded blankly. Katherine turned to the witches. "Saw that? You need to die. Bye." She and Rebekah attacked the witches from front and back and exchanged smirks after that.
"CELESTE! SHOW YOURSELF!" Klaus screamed. It caught their attention and the family slowly moved in front of the cemetery. The gate blocked their path to enter.
"Come out, come out witch." Kol followed as he moved closer to the gate. He tried to enter but was stopped by an invisible barrier. He grinned malevolently. He already expected it to happen.
Elijah eyed Katherine when she and Rebekah found their way in front. He checked if she had any injuries. Katherine noticed his action and arched an eyebrow at him. "Why don't we let Elijah call her out since you know he's her ex-lover or something."
Elijah's eyes twitched at her suggestion but his face remained indifferent.
Kol snickered and moved closer to the ladies. "Still crossed because he kept her face in his journals?"
"And she got even more vex that she didn't found any pictures of hers too." Rebekah quipped. The siblings exchanged teasing looks. Elijah gave them a questioning gaze. "Apparently, she sneaked out another batch of your journals to snoop." Rebekah explained.
"Do you think this is the appropriate time to discuss the contents of Elijah's poignant journals?" Klaus snapped at them.
Katherine rolled her eyes. "Whatever. I'm still the attractive one between the two of us."
"That..." Rebekah reacted and smirked. "Well, I really couldn't argue with that."
After her response, she was suddenly blown away and hit a pole. The rest was on their guard immediately. Kol flashed towards her sister to help her get up. "That awful bitch." Rebekah cursed.
"Insulting her looks hit a nerve sister." Kol grinned and tilted his head. "Now she's here."
"So you did figure it out after all." Celeste drawled as she stepped away from the tombs and moved closer to the gate.
Klaus flashed towards her but he was stopped by the barrier. He growled menacingly. "Let me in!"
Celeste laughed at him then a wooden stake flew towards her but she quickly switched the direction by her magic at the last minute. She glared at the grinning guilty person. "Kol Mikaelson. The wild brother. We haven't had the pleasure to meet before."
"I would've said pleasure to make your acquaintance but since you're dying tonight so, nah." Kol sassed.
Celeste looked at him in disgust and turned to Klaus again. The hybrid glared daggers at her. She chuckled once again. "Look at you, Klaus. For someone who claims that emotions are a weakness... You're here. Seething with anger because I have someone you hold dear."
Klaus gritted his teeth. "You will pay for this."
"Celeste." Elijah stepped forward beside Klaus.
Celeste turned to him and smiled sweetly. "Hello there, Elijah. Still handsome as ever, I see."
Elijah fixed his tie with his bloody hands while Katherine snorted.
Celeste gave her a once over and smiled. "You must be the lovely Katerina. Elijah told me all about you."
Katherine countered blankly. "He surely hasn't mentioned you."
"We should bond sometime. Let's exchange tales about being loved by the noble Elijah Mikaelson." Celeste suggested.
Katherine glared at Elijah. "No thanks. Not interested."
Celeste leered and took a step closer to the gate. She was confident because it protected her from the Originals and started. "I was stalling, you know..." She looked at the displeased expression from everyone. "I wanted to have more information to use against you but then the elders took action and kidnapped the blonde bartender unannounced. I thought we were screwed that night." She chuckled. "But it took two days for you to realize she was missing! So, I wondered if Camille does really have a value or what. Then another blonde showed up and tried to save Camille. I fought her. She was fierce and brave. Smart too. That's when it clicked to me, she was the one."
Celeste's smirk grew wider as she stared at the furious Klaus. "You hid her well, Klaus."
"If you hurt her in any way Celeste, I swear you will wish that you haven't been born." Klaus threatened.
Celeste laughed out loud in response. "That's the fun part, Klaus. You can't kill me. You need me for you to know where dear Caroline is."
Camille located the Originals when she heard Klaus' scream. She was about to approach them when Celeste showed up. She hid and listened to their conversation. She listened to Celeste's tale and cringed when she heard her name. She gasped as Celeste mentioned Caroline. "It can't be. Caroline's nothing." She mumbled to herself. She noticed Rebekah and Kol shook in rage. "Maybe she's something. Kol's someone or plaything or what." She thought. She temporarily forgot that Caroline saved her earlier while she reassured herself.
"What did you do to Caroline, you dreadful witch!" Rebekah hissed.
"I cloaked the place where I hid her. Only I can undo it." Celeste grinned slyly. "You will never find Caroline if you'll kill me."
"What the fuck?!" Kol cursed. He knew about these types of cloaking spells and all were pain in the ass.
"Would you fancy yourself a bargain?" Elijah presented. "Your fellow witches in exchange of Caroline." He gestured to the vampires who held witches on their hands. They looked frightened and pleaded for help.
"Sabine..." One witch croaked. "Help us!"
"Have you not heard what they called me?" Celeste looked at them harshly. "I'm not Sabine! I am Celeste Dubois!"
"Please.. Celeste.." Another witch pleaded as another vampire taunted Celeste by licking the witch's neck. Celeste stared at them blankly. Klaus noticed her stare and stated. "You don't want to help them."
Celeste lifted an eyebrow at him. Klaus turned at Elijah and mocked. "And you said she's a compassionate one."
"A very compassionate one indeed." Rebekah muttered. Celeste turned to her and smirked. "Oh Rebekah. I thought you like me."
"Don't be fooled darling. I merely tolerated you for Elijah's sake." Rebekah snarked.
Celeste shrugged. "I was compassionate but what did it lead me? Death. Killed by one of your own's doing." She glared at each one of them. "I want my revenge."
"Are you saying that you choose your revenge over your friends?" Elijah clarified in a diplomatic tone.
"My friends are dead. Your beloved brother killed them!" Celeste snarled and pointed at the witches. "Kill them and it'll just make me stronger. I don't care about them. I just want my vengeance. And when I achieve that, I'll dispose this body myself and find another one."
"TRAITOR!" One of the witches shouted.
"You were manipulating us!" Another one yelled too.
"The ancestors!" Another croaked out. "Were they really involved? Or was it you all along?" Then suddenly her neck was magically snapped and a vampire caught her and looked confused. Everyone focused back on Celeste and saw her hand up.
Kol arched an eyebrow indifferently. "You really don't care about your coven."
"I don't need them. I'm a powerful witch. Others are nothing compared to me." Celeste bragged. The witches yelled curses at her while she laughed at them in return. Some muttered spells against her and she deflected. Some also attacked the vampires holding them which resulted their death.
"SILENCE!" Klaus roared. His eyes turned yellow and showed his hybrid face. "Where is Caroline?" He demanded darkly.
Celeste smirked. "You will never see her again." Klaus vamped towards her and pounded on the barrier recklessly.
"Do you really think you could destroy the barrier by pounding it continuously?" Celeste taunted and laughed. She twisted her hand and Klaus screamed loudly as he held his head. "I can make you suffer without laying a hand on you. I am that powerful!" Celeste declared as she also gave the Originals and Katherine a powerful aneurysm.
Marcel stepped forward and was about to say something when someone beat him to it. "Oh really?" The rest turned around and saw a man walked his way to the front. The man smirked at Celeste and added. "So, you don't think that other witches or warlocks could be powerful as you?"
Everyone looked confused and didn't recognize him. Rebekah and Katherine saw a glimpse of him despite the aneurysm. Rebekah mouthed. "Do you know him?"
"Not a clue." Katherine winced and mouthed back.
"What do you mean?" Celeste gazed at the man suspiciously and was about to attack him when he raised his hands up. "Woah, relax. I'm just a viewer here. I was just curious about you and your powerful magic." He smiled haughtily.
"I am powerful!" Celeste insisted. She didn't like the way he spoke to her and felt that he was mocking her. She took a step back and spread her arms widely. "This place is the center of my ancestor's powers. I can channel them anytime and as much as I want. No one else could ever do that."
Th man stepped closer to the gate beside the crouching Klaus. His eyes sparkled with mischief and smiled. "I see."
In spite of the pain, Klaus glared at the unknown man and assessed him. Klaus doesn't know which side he belonged and remained on guard. He was about to threaten him when the man turned to Celeste.
"I'm actually curious. I never really tested my power ever since I escaped from my prison. I never encountered such a powerful witch to test it out." The man spoke with a challenging tone.
Celeste narrowed her eyes at him and said. "You can't stop me." She channeled the magic in the cemetery. Everyone could feel the cold wind rushed through them and the magic in it. They shivered and expected a powerful attack from her.
The man grinned widely when he felt the magic. He tutted. "Ah. Ah. Ah. I forgot to tell you something." He took a step closer to the gate and continued. "You said your magic came from this place." He took another step and made him pass through the gate and Celeste immediately casted another barrier to stop him from fully entering the cemetery. He twirled his forefinger and said. "That means that this place is all magic." The man laid back on the stone wall and touched it. Celeste threw a spell on him and he deflected it easily. She was confused and threw one after the other while the man just blocked it all with ease. The man continued and pointed at himself. "But then again, magic connects to me."
Celeste was befuddled. She couldn't understand why he could deflect her spells easily. She looked at him in panic. The man smirked at the sight and stood straight. "Confused?" He teased and placed his hands on the barrier and the stonewall gate. Klaus was amused by his actions and took a step back. Celeste stopped her aneurysm to the others when she attacked the unknown man.
"What are you doing?!" Celeste demanded when she slowly noticed her powers weakened. The man grinned insanely and made a gesture of choking a person and it was reflected on Celeste. He motioned to pull her closer and met her halfway. Celeste struggled to breathe as she was raised in the air. "Who are you?" She managed to choke out.
The man smiled at her wickedly. "Oh, how rude of me. I'm Kai Parker, a siphoner, you are?"
"Celeste." Celeste croaked.
"Pleasure to meet you but goodbye now." Kai sniggered as he strengthened the hold of her neck.
"Why are you helping them?!" Celeste breathed harshly.
"Help them?" Kai asked innocently and looked at his back. He saw the vampires, witches, and the Originals watched him with interest. "Oh them. I wasn't helping, really. I intended to be a casual viewer only while I was just looking for fun and it looked like you're fun!" Kai rambled carelessly. "I mean I could test my magic because of you. I like that."
"I won't be gone forever. Once you kill me, I'll just jump to another body." Celeste hissed.
"See! You are indeed fun!" Kai mused in delight. Celeste glared at him in disgust. Kai smirked evilly. "It's a good thing that others call me a sociopath then." Kai gripped her neck a little tighter. "I'll kill you now, find you, kill you again, find you again, kill you, and the cycle continues."
"You're a monster!" Celeste cursed. Kai laughed. "Oh sweetie. I don't think you're the first one to call me that." He siphoned all the magic in her and choked her to death. "I'll see you again soon." He laid her body on the ground and wiped his arms. He turned to everyone and asked. "Should I move her or just leave her here?"
Everyone was stunned with the outcome. They were too engrossed and didn't have the time to interrupt the clash. The next thing they knew, Celeste was laid on the ground.
"Uhh, hello?" Kai waved his hand and woke them up from their reverie.
"We don't know where's Caroline!" Rebekah shrieked in realization. Katherine glared at Kai while Elijah held her hand to stop her from flashing.
Kol cursed. "Oh shit! Celeste was the only one who could undo the spell."
Klaus flashed to Kai and snarled. "Who are you and why did you kill her?!" Kai was too surprised to move away from him. Klaus was about to grip his neck when someone stopped him. "Klaus! You better stop what you're about to do!"
Klaus abruptly turned when he heard Caroline's voice. He saw her being assisted by someone. He quickly vamped his way to her and hold her. "Are you alright, love?"
"Just dizzy but still breathing." Caroline grumbled.
"She has a venom, mate." Enzo informed Klaus as he took a step away from the two.
"Why didn't you tell me the moment you saw me!" Klaus panicked as he bit his wrist and placed it to Caroline's mouth. Caroline's face turned as she bit into Klaus' wrist and drank his blood. Klaus held Caroline closer and brushed her hair. He murmured soothing words. "There you go, love."
Everyone watched their moment and eyed them carefully. The family moved closer to them with relief expressions on their faces. Their collected demeanor forgotten.
"Now, I'll just wait for that witch to show up again." Kai mused loudly and that broke the solace moment. The Originals and Katherine narrowed their eyes.
"I believe it's our time to deal with that witch now." Elijah emphasized as he approached.
"Do you know where she is?" Kai perked up.
"Yes but you're not invited. You already had your turn. Now, it's ours." Rebekah pointed out and crossed her arms. She looked at him challengingly.
Kai slumped his shoulders in dismay. Enzo patted him. "That's alright, mate. You had your fun."
"Come on! I want to drain that witch dry!" Kol urged as he marched his way at the left side outside the cemetery.
"Let's go! I want to see the real Celeste now!" Katherine said and followed Kol.
Inside the mausoleum
Celeste woke up and breathed hard. She looked around and saw a mirror on the right side wall. She was surprised to see her original face and her body wrapped in a white linen. She tried to cast a spell but there was nothing. "How..?" She muttered in confusion.
"Hello darling." Kol greeted with an evil smirk on his face.
Celeste's eyes widened in panic. "No... No... No!" She moved away from Kol and the others showed themselves. She ran towards the door but it was locked.
"So this is Celeste." Katherine mocked as she gave Celeste a once over. "Really?" She asked Elijah in distaste.
"I told you, she's not worth as a competition." Rebekah sneered and crossed her arms. Katherine sighed haughtily and played her curl. "You're right."
"Ladies." Elijah scolded as he leaned on the wall. When Celeste saw him, she grabbed the linen tightly on her and held onto him. "Elijah help me! You loved me once!" She pleaded. Elijah looked away as he shook her hands off him.
"That was my brother's foolish mistake." Klaus taunted and moved closer to Celeste. He looked at her condescendingly while she gasped and took a step back. She was trapped and surrounded by the Originals and Katherine. They looked ready to torture her. Celeste cried as she muttered words in French.
"What was that?" Kol acted to moved his ear closer. "Well, I think my French is a little bit rusty but I think I heard her say 's'il te plaît, arrête'. Did I get that right?"
Rebekah rolled her eyes at her brother's antics. "Oh Kol, how mature."
"I just found it funny that's all. I thought she was smart because Elijah took a fancy of her but now, she asked us to stop. I mean how dumb could she be if she hadn't thought the consequence of her actions." Kol shared his point.
Klaus ignored his siblings and moved closer to Celeste. "You should have known Celeste that we don't tolerate someone who intended to hurt those we hold dear."
"Wait, wait, wait!" Katherine interrupted.
Klaus inhaled his annoyance and turned to her. "What?"
"Can you please let me slap her first since you know... Elijah." Katherine requested politely.
Klaus clenched his jaw and moved away. "Go on."
Katherine smirked at Celeste. "Looks like we couldn't have our bonding time after all." She taunted and slapped her hard. Celeste cried out in pain.
"I want to try too! She was so annoying when they were together." Rebekah shared and slapped her too. Blood ran down from Celeste cheek. "Oops. My bad. Must be my ring." Rebekah snickered and showed her ring.
"Now that you're both done with your petty actions." Kol started and shoved the two ladies away. "It's my turn." Kol cheered and showed his fangs. Celeste continued to cry as she muttered for help. Kol grabbed and fed her. Celeste screamed loudly.
"How is that witch? Are you having fun?" Klaus taunted as he moved closer to her once again. He looked thrilled at the sight of her. She looked fragile, powerless, and bled a lot. He showed her a stake and stabbed her stomach instantly. Her face showed pain as she touched the stake.
"E-Elijah." Celeste croaked when Elijah finally stood in front of her. "H-help." Elijah caressed her face. She whimpered at his touch then suddenly Elijah ripped her heart out. He dropped the heart and took out his handkerchief to wipe his hand.
Everyone stared at Celeste's frail body on the ground.
"Finally it's over." Rebekah exhaled in relief and everyone smiled in victory.
Outside the mausoleum
The mausoleum was located outside the cemetery. It was hidden in the woods and Davina recommended the place for Celeste resurrection. When the chaos started, she and Josh stayed inside and guarded the bones. Katherine was with them for a while then left when Davina finished the spell and sealed the place to prevent Celeste from leaving and doing magic.
Everyone waited outside for the family to come out. They could hear the screams and cries of Celeste. They wondered what the Mikaelsons did to her. Marcel was a little put out again because he wasn't allowed to go inside with them but Katherine was. Davina comforted him absentmindedly because she was curious about the new faces.
Caroline, Enzo and Kai stayed near the door of the mausoleum. Kai leaned on the wall while Caroline sat on the steps and Enzo stood beside her. Caroline was still weak from the venom and opted to stay outside instead of being with the others inside. She doesn't have the energy to watch another murder.
Josh approached the trio nervously and stuttered. Caroline noticed him and smiled a little. "It's nice to see you breathing."
Josh chuckled. "Yeah. I heard I should thank you for that."
Caroline shook her head. "Don't be. I fed you to the wolf. I'm just glad Katherine read the message just in time."
Enzo and Kai looked at Josh curiously. "Gorgeous." Enzo motioned for her to introduce them. Josh eyed Enzo because of the nickname.
"Oh right. Josh, this is Enzo and Kai. You two, this is Josh." Caroline introduced feebly.
Enzo smiled politely. "Nice to meet you mate."
Kai offered a handshake. Josh accepted his hand and then winced. Kai let his hand go and said. "Oh I'm a siphoner by the way. I just siphoned a little of your magic." Kai grinned.
"Siphon- what? And I have magic?" Josh wondered out loud. Enzo and Kai exchanged bewildered looks and turned to Caroline.
"You're a vampire Josh. Vampirism is magic." Caroline waved off.
Josh looked sheepish after the explanation and noticed Caroline's state. "Oh, are you okay?"
Caroline nodded weakly and Enzo tapped her shoulder and said to Josh. "Maybe you should talk to her some other time." Josh just nodded in response.
The door opened and Klaus vamped towards Caroline. He startled Josh while Enzo remained motionless. He nodded at Enzo who nodded back and crouched down in front of Caroline. "Hey." Caroline greeted quietly.
"It's over. A bit later than expected because the three idiots wanted to be dramatic." Klaus explained and checked the part where Caroline was injected. Her delicate skin looked normal again. She chuckled a little at his explanation. He sighed inwardly and she exhaled deeply. "There, there sweetheart." Klaus soothed. He noticed her sleepy eyes and slid his arms around her back and legs then carried her swiftly.
"I can walk!" Caroline protested.
"But you're still weak." Klaus countered knowingly and held her tighter. Caroline sighed. She doesn't have the energy to argue so she placed her hands around his neck and leaned to his chest. She could smell the blood but his distinct heavy smell was still present. She inhaled and murmured faintly. "Let's go."
"Home?" Klaus asked gently. Caroline hummed and buried her head deeper into his chest.
"Elijah." Klaus looked at his family. They stood in front of the door. Elijah was in front while Katherine and Rebekah remained emotionless but their eyes showed a glass of worry for Caroline. Kol walked his way towards Enzo and Kai.
"I'll take care of here Niklaus." Elijah answered the underlying command.
Klaus nodded and slowly walked away with Caroline in his arms. The vampires watched the interactions in silence and parted to create a path for their king. They continued to watch until the two disappear. Conclusions and ideas formed in their minds. Marcel saw Camille in between the groups of vampires. He flashed towards her and said. "Cami! Glad you're okay."
"Hey." It was the only word that Camille uttered as she stared at Klaus' back figure walking away.
