Easy, right?

Second Chance

Her last memory is of Caitlin jabbing herself in the arm with the cure for their powers. The serum designed to erase her. Kill her.

And they called her a killer, but what did using that formula make perfect little Caitlin Snow?

So Killer Frost is a little surprised when she opens her eyes and feels nothing but her own thoughts in her head. None of Caitlin's nattering away, just blessed, peaceful silence. For a moment - just a moment - she wonders if the cure killed the wrong persona after all. But her surroundings are so completely different that, well, Frost quickly figures out she's not in Kansas anymore.

"If you're wondering where we are," a deep voice said, catching Frost's attention and alerting her to the man standing just behind her, "this is called the Vanishing Point. A place beyond time, where I brought you from the moment of your destruction and formed a new body for you to utilize. Your powers are intact."

Frost regarded her 'savior'. A handsome black man in some kind of battle suit, complete with a cape that put Frost in mind of Edna Mode's vendetta against capes for super heroes. "No one does something like this for free. What's the catch?"

"The catch is that the multi-verse is coming to an end. If you want to survive, you must aid in the prevention of its destruction." He regarded her coldly. Not a hero in the way Team Flash pretended to be; this was a man who'd manipulate to achieve his goals - who'd kill to achieve his goals - and believed the greater good merited the sacrifices made.

Frost could work with that.

"You aren't the only one getting a second chance at life," Monitor added. Then he hefted a book in one hand and raised the other. And from the dust in front of him coalesced a familiar figure.

Almost-not-quite Barry Allen. A handsome man with a scarred face, who'd been forced to become the monster because Team Flash wouldn't let him be anything else. But once he'd finally embraced the role and thrown himself into hell, he'd never looked back. Savitar.

Her Savitar.

There's a soft look on his face as he says, "Frost?" He took a step towards her and then jerked around - in a flash - to see the man standing behind him. "What the hell?"

The Monitor repeated his bit about the Vanishing point and the end of the multi-verse.

And they both agree, of course. What other choice do they have? If the Monitor tosses them back into reality, they'll have no other choice but to fight. Not if they don't want to die with the rest of the multi-verse.

They're returned to the park where everything ended. Where Frost destroyed the Black Flash to save Savitar only to hesitate to do what was needed with Cisco, giving Caitlin the chance to struggle her way out of the depths of their shared mind to take the offered serum and inject it without a single second's hesitation. And Savitar shattered from the paradox anyway when he was prevented from escaping from their Earth to another.

But now they're both alive and stable.

She intends to apologize to him, for her failure. But Savitar appears in front of her in a blur, hands reaching up to gently cup her face. "I lost you," he murmured, leaning his forehead against hers. "I lost you and it didn't matter anymore."

Frost doesn't quite know what to say to that. But it's fine, because he doesn't need words right now. So Frost reaches up, tucks a hand behind his neck, and tilts her head as she draws him into a kiss.

They get a few weeks to wander Keystone and reorient themselves with reality. Savitar had backup funds squirreled away that will sustain them for now. Though they indulge in a few thefts here and there, to work on their coordination with their powers. The year is 2024 and April is not a good month this year, not that the rest of the world has realized it yet.

The time also gives the two of them a chance to reacquaint themselves with each other. To relearn one another with this change in their relationship.

Savitar is so tender, so careful with her at first. And Frost might have protested - she's no damsel who might shatter, like dainty, delicate little Caitlin Snow - but she likes how precious he makes her feel. Though they do quickly learn that both of them prefer things rougher. Her nails leaving gouges down his back that heal away even as her hands reach back up to claw their way down again. His hands bruising her hips as he holds her in place while his lips and tongue suck and lick at her folds and clit.

"I love you," he tells her and the devotion there... perhaps Barry looked at Iris with half that obsession.

Frost smiles and leans in for a kiss, tasting herself on his lips. "I love you too," she murmurs and draws him down on top of her.

The Red Skies Crisis comes too soon, but Frost relishes the look of horror on Team Flash's faces even as their allies gaze at Killer Frost and Savitar.

"What?" Savitar mocked, sliding an arm around Frost's shoulders.

It's a reassurance she didn't know she needed, seeing Caitlin and Cisco... her murderers standing there, sanctimonious expressions on their faces as though they weren't as much a monster as she was. She'd spared Cisco Ramon once and been handed a death sentence as a thank you for her mercy.

Never again.

She hadn't realized, until that moment, how much she hated him.

"I thought second chances were what you heroes were all about," Savitar continued. His thumb moved in gentle, reassuring sweeps against her neck and she takes a few unsteady breaths before evening out.

"We have to work together," Frost added with a smirk. "Don't you trust us? We're practically you, after all."

"We're nothing alike," Caitlin snapped.

"You're right. I never killed anyone, though not for lack of trying. But you? You murdered me." Frost laughs as Caitlin's face goes pale beneath her makeup.

Savitar regards Snow with narrowed eyes, but he leaves it. For now.

They fight back to back, his lightning ripping apart the Anti-Monitor's forces on one side while Frost's ice leaves a wasteland of frozen statues in its wake.

"We're like gods," Savitar told her as they surveyed the ruin left in their wake.

She laughed and threw ice over his shoulder at survivor that thought it could be sneaky. "Gods of death."

"That's the best kind," he agreed, rushing around to rip the heart out of a creature that had threatened her back.

They kissed in the midst of the carnage and then returned to the fight.

In the aftermath, Barry Allen is dead. His sacrifice saved the multi-verse and left behind his grieving wife and daughter.

"Never fear, Iris West. You're free from danger with me. After all, what's the point of killing you when he's already dead." He smirked and then added, "play nicely and I'll leave you and your daughter alone. After all, if she saw me... do you think she'd come along happily, calling me daddy?"

"You stay the hell away from Nora," Iris raged.

"As long as she's never a threat to me, that won't be a problem." Savitar was content to leave things at that with the woman whose death would have once guaranteed his safety. He looks at Iris West-Allen and there's nothing of Barry's love for her in his eyes.

Frost's vengeance is more complicated.

"I was born to protect you," she tells Caitlin. "I loved you from the first moment I manifested. And you threw that in my face. Buried me in your fears and self loathing. And even after all that, if you'd been willing to throw that cure away, then maybe we could have learned to overcome the mistakes we both made. But you chose to kill me and made your every fears a self-fulfilling prophecy. If I'm a monster, it's the one you sculpted me into." She flung Caitlin to the ground, knocking her unconscious.

Cisco switches his attention from Savitar to her and the powers he used to hold Savitar in place release. Savitar, however, stands back. He was only there as a distraction so that Frost could say her piece. He'll only step back in if Frost needs the help.

She won't. Cisco might be strong against speedsters, but he's weak against the ice and cold. And unlike Caitlin, Frost has no compunctions against triggering his PTSD.

It doesn't take long until she's pinned him to the wall. "I spared you last time," she mused. "Because Caitlin loved you."

"You know he threatened you to make me create tech for him last time, right?" Cisco said, stalling for time.

"He threatened Caitlin, you mean. Because she's all you cared about. It was my idea, you know? After all, you gave up Barry's name for Dante's sake, and he hated you. What would you be willing to sacrifice for the sister who still loves you?" Frost sighed. "I thought maybe you cared for me too, on some level. And so, because Caitlin loved you, I let you go. But this time..." She grabbed on to his gauntlets, freezing the tech and the oh-so-delicate hands beneath. "Maybe if you hadn't helped create the murder weapon that bitch used to kill me, I'd have some mercy left for you. Too bad you didn't have just a smidgen more compassion in that big heart of yours."

Cisco squirmed and made pained noises, watching her in horror.

"It's a shame I won't get to see the look of guilt on her face every time the mere sight of her makes you flinch." Letting go of him, she stepped back. "If you get to the hospital quick enough, you might salvage some of those nerves. But I wouldn't count on being able to play those arpeggios any more."

Savitar whisks her away when she looks back to him and nods.

Keystone is too small for them, they ultimately decide. The world's their oyster. And if they get bored with this one, well... there's a whole multi-verse out there they've helped to save. Why not do a little traveling to see it for themselves?

After all, they're gods of death. Who returned from death in better condition than when they met its embrace. What could possibly stop them now?

Notes: I feel so awful for doing that to Cisco...
