A Hellish Forever

Ch.8: Unexpected Heroes

It was the next morning that Lincoln returned to the Hotel. Stolas and Blitz had concocted a lovely breakfast of French Toast and scrambled eggs. Octavia frowned as Lincoln went to leave. She stopped him by taking Lincoln's hand and squeezing it gently. As the boy went to comment, Octavia bent down and placed a soft kiss on his left cheek.

Stammering, Lincoln looked to Blitz for help, only to see him pounding a fist on his car's hood, laughing like mad. Stolas watched with a pleased smile.

As the car strolled up to the hotel, Blitz ushered Lincoln out as he received an unexpected call. "Head in Linc- I gotta go", he said, before speeding off once Lincoln was safely out of the car. Lincoln was confused as he wiped sweat from his brow. Yes indeed, Hell was hot.

Lincoln turned as he heard someone clear their throat. An unsmiling small egg-shaped creature was holding up a bottle of water to him.

Lincoln contemplated. An egg-shaped creature? Should he trust it? Maybe consult Vaggie first? However, the look the creature gave him said he should just take it.

Sighing, the boy grabbed it and brought it to his lips. Taking a sip, he smacked his lips. "This is", was all he got out before falling to the ground, unconscious.

Grinning, the egg dragged the boy over to a waiting car and threw him into the backseat. His boss would be well pleased.

It was 30 minutes later that Charlie noticed Lincoln wasn't back yet.

She looked at the lobby, which was rife with activity. She strode over to Angel, who was drinking a cappuccino. "Angel, have you seen Lincoln yet?". Angel frowned.

"Nope. Late morning maybe?", the spider suggested.

"No way", Vaggie commented from the opposite couch, crossing her arms. "Blitz was told to have him back this morning."

It was there that a cough gathered everyone's attention. Husker, who was nursing a glass of red wine from behind the bars counter, spoke. "When I was smoking earlier, I saw a car speed off from nearby the hotel. Could it be..."? He trailed off, as Vaggie gasped. The lobby was filled with fear.

Had Katie kidnapped him?

Their thoughts were interrupted as red smoke erupted from the fireplace. Everyone shielded their eyes. But when the smoke cleared, Charlie let out a big smile upon seeing who had arrived.

Everything would be okay.

Around the same time, Lincoln groaned as he awoke. Rubbing his eyes, he looked at the room around him. He was upon a soft bed, spring foam in its nature. Its covers were Pink in color, which made him blush. But he did not blush when he saw the pictures around him.

Before he could quickly take off the covers and try to leave, Katie strode into the room with a laugh. She wore her trademark news outfit and held a cigarette in her hand. "Comfy?", she asked.

Lincoln gasped. "Did. Did you kidnap me?"

"Well...no. I don't get my own hands dirty. I hired him to do it for me", she said pointing behind her.

A large snake demon wearing a hat entered the room. "It was my pleasure, Katie. My payment, please?", he asked emphasizing on the S sound. Katie rolled her eyes as she collected a roll of bills from her pocket and handed it to Pentous. Satisfied, the demon left to guard the house.

Striding over to the bed and sitting in a chair next to it, Katie took a long drag. "We have an interview to finish, don't we?", she smiled. "Maybe if you are good, I'll let you go."

But there was something in her eyes. The way she did not look at him. Lincoln knew the truth.

She had no intention of letting him go.

Lincoln closed his eyes. The questions came back. Why? Why was he in Hell? Why did he have to die? But most importantly.

Was his family okay?

Katie laughed and laughed, not noticing the presence that entered the room. A figure strided over to Katie.

"Katie, I do believe you should let him go", a regal voice commanded.

Katie turned annoyed to the voice, only to gasp as she saw him. "N-now sir", she stammered.

"No. Now", he said in a voice not unlike Hannibal to Clarice in Silence of the Lambs.

Katie strided over to the bed, removing the covers, and setting Lincoln standing on the floor, before being permitted to leave the room.

After a few seconds, Lincoln opened his eyes, only to see the trademark golden watch Charlie had told him about. He looked up at the mans smile, and it was enough.

A female voice echoed as it wafted into the room. "Dear, is Lincoln o- ". Her voice then stopped as she heard the sound that broke any mother's heart.

Crying.

With no hesitation, she rushed to the room, grabbing the crying Lincoln. She positioned herself in a kneeling position on the floor and embraced the boy. Lincoln obliged, hugging her back. It reminded himself of his mom so much.

How he had missed it!

After a few minutes, he cleared his eyes and took a calming breath. Just who had rescued him?

He could not help but smile softly as he looked upon the smiling heroes. Though he was nervous- anyone would be in their presence- he knew he was safe.

He had just met Lucifer and Lilith.

For her part, Charlie paced back and forth nervously in the lobby. Angel and Husker laughed at her, though Charlie was justified. Had there been any pitfalls in rescuing Lincoln?

She got her answer seconds later as the Hotel's front door swung open. Lucifer strided in with Lilith in tow behind him, holding hands with a smiling Lincoln.

Seeing him, Vaggie ran over and embraced him, not noticing for a minute that her chest was hugging Lincoln's face. He squirmed, though he was blushing.

"We were so worried Lincoln! Are you okay?!", Vaggie asked.

Lucifer stifled a laugh. "Dear, you may want to put the poor boy down."

Vaggie blushed in embarrassment as she did just that. Lilith had walked over to Charlie. They nodded at each other and headed into Charlie's office. A long Day of Reconciliation was ahead.

Lucifer turned his attention to Alastor. "I trust the hotel has been safe?"

Alastor nodded. "Yes indeed. No trouble other than the snake a while ago."

Wait", Vaggie stated, as Lincoln walked over to the couches to take a breather. "You work for Lucifer?"

The radio demon smiled. "Yes indeed! Though I always found entertainment in this idea, I was asked to protect this place."

This made sense to Vaggie. It had always seemed too convenient that he randomly wanted to help the Hotel.

"Lincoln", Lucifer said, walking over to the boy. "Would you mind accompanying me to my favorite restaurant tonight? We have a lot to discuss."

Lincoln quickly agreed. It was the moment he had been searching for.

His questions would be answered.

A/N: 2...to...go.
