A Hellish Forever
Ch.9: Revelations
Around 7:00 PM that night, Lincoln, and Lucifer found themselves in a private room at Lucifers favorite restaurant, which was fancy. The two had put in their orders, deciding to start off with appetizers first. For Lincoln, he would be having potato skins. Lucifer had preferred some vegetable soup.
"So, Lincoln", Lucifer began. "When you were alive, did you believe in anything? Any afterlife?"
Lincoln took a few seconds to respond. "I'm not sure. I grew up in a mixed house. My sister Luna is a Buddhist, my sister Lori is a Christian. I. Guess I was...I think Agnostic is the right word?"
Lucifer nodded. "You believed in something, but did not know what it was?"
Lincoln nodded. "Sir- "
"Call me Lucifer, Lincoln", the man said gently.
"Lucifer, am I here because I didn't necessarily believe in God?"
"Oh, heavens no", Lucifer said quickly. "Vaggie would be in Heaven if that was the case. How man has distorted the truth. Lincoln, every faith is right about one thing- Heaven and Hell. No in fact, its your actions that seal your fate. Not belief."
"Even if someone is doing good because they think it will make them look good?"
"Me and God both take that into account, though I take a hand off approach with my citizens. I don't care about most of them. They-pardon my language- fucked over their fellow human being usually. I'm just returning the favor."
"So, did I do more bad than good?", the 12-year-old asked terrified.
Lucifer was quick to respond, after taking a long drink of his bourbon. "Absolutely not. Me and God have a deal. If you are under the age of 13, you automatically are up there. We both believe in the phrase "They knew not what they had done."
Lincoln regarded this, then responded. "So, why am I here?"
Lucifer stood, crossing over to the window, looking at the night sky. "1976. Charlie was growing up. Alastor was growing into one of my favorite workers. Lincoln... I don't know when anyone will die unless I make a deal with them."
He returned to the table, folding his hands together. "Your Grandfather Albert was terrified when your grandmother went to give birth."
"Did he make a deal with you?", Lincoln asked as a tall waiter named Saul came in with their treats. "One moment.", Lucifer said, as the waiter set their first course down. Lincolns belly growled- the food looked great!
After a few minutes of attending to the food, Lucifer finally responded. "He did. In my deal, I told him that he would have many grandchildren, all diverse interests, and beliefs. But one would find their destiny not on Earth, but here instead."
Lincoln was shocked. His Pop Pop was very much a man of faith. "Was he that terrified that grandma would die?"
Lucifer nodded solemnly.
"For many years, I always knew it would be you. But I did not know what that destiny would hold. Then it hit me as Charlie came to me with the idea for the Hotel 3 years ago."
Lincoln finished a skin, swallowing. "Is that why Charlie doesn't get along with Lilith?"
"Yes, until today of course", Lucifer concurred. "Lilith was afraid that her daughter would be hurt. I never thought so- but I knew one piece to that Hotel was missing. A piece that showed up with you."
"There is a reason why you are not a demon Lincoln. Every demon has their story. Not every demon does bad, not every angel does good. I heard of it with Stolas last night. You have a gift. Empathy."
"If demons have an understanding outlet, they may be more moved to try the hotel and change for the better."
Lincoln was stunned. "You think I can help the hotel that much? I'm just a boy."
Lucifer shook his head with a frown. "Much more than that. You are a friend Lincoln."
"But you do not have to take this road. I've been given permission to send you to Heaven if you want. It is up to you."
The two went silent as Lincoln contemplated this. Everything. His life. The 4 days.
Was this meant to be?
"Lucifer, I have my answer", he concluded after several minutes. Their dinners of prime rib and salmon respectively were in front of them now.
"For my family. Both here and up there, I want to stay", he concluded.
A/N: Hello everyone!
I have made the decision to not do Chapter 10. I wanted this story to focus on Lincoln's experiences. Plus, Chapter 10 would just been a reiteration to Lincoln's family of what was just stated here.
Anyways, it has been an honor to write this for you guys. I came up with this idea one night at work, and it has become my baby!
As to a sequel, I plan on it. I do not know when it will come out, but let's say for now that things are about to get even more crazy. Hehe.
Till next time everyone!
