Green Hal37: Glad to hear it. Yes, exactly like that. I wouldn't call it obvious. Remember, in the original Terminator movies, Skynet had no idea which Sarah Conner to kill. Its Intel on the past is pretty limited TBH.

Harrison Wells' house

Night

Cisco was staring down at Barry, who was lying on a bed the T-800 had dragged from a spare room Dr. Wells had directed him towards.

"Hard to believe this guy is what Skynet is so worried about," Cisco mentioned.

There was no response. Cisco looked over his shoulder where T-800, shirtless, was kneeling down on the floor as Caitlin dug the bullets he had gotten protecting her from the T-1000 out of his back with a pair of plyers. Wells sat in his wheelchair in the corner, watching with an unreadable look on his face.

"Does it hurt?" Caitlin asked gently as she pulled another one out and dropped it into a nearby tray on a table.

"I sense injuries. The data can be called pain," T-800 noted.

"Will they heal?" Thawne inquired and T-800 nodded. "Good. You won't be able to protect us if you can't pass for human."

"Dr. Wells," Caitlin chided, shooting Thawne a look that he ignored.

"How long will you…last?" Cisco asked the T-800, picking his words carefully.

"A hundred and twenty years on my existing power cell," T-800 said as Caitlin pulled the last bullet from his back and dropped it in the tray.

"Can you learn?" Cisco asked suddenly and they all looked at him. "I mean, can you learn how to be more human? To blend in."

"My CPU is a Neural Net Processor, a learning computer. But Skynet presets the switch to 'read only' when we are sent out alone," T-800 explained.

"I guess Skynet doesn't want you thinking too much," Thawne noted and T-800 nodded.

"No."

"Can we reset the switch?" Caitlin asked and T-800 paused, thinking.

Star Labs

Same time

Joe stood, staring brokenly at the spot where Barry had been resting since arriving at Star Labs. Now there was only an empty bed.

The wrecked Star Labs van and damaged bus had been discovered less than an hour after the altercation with the T-1000. The cops had been called. Joe and Eddie had arrived at Star Labs to find it abandoned and Barry missing. They'd had to call it in.

Eddie walked into the room and, seeing where Joe was staring, walked over.

"We'll find him Joe," Eddie promised as h placed a hand on Joe's shoulder.

Joe wanted to say he wasn't worried about them finding Barry. He was worried what state they might find Barry in. He was a cop; he'd heard enough horror stories t know even in a city like this, there were sickos out there. What anyone would want with a comatose young man…it sent chills up Joe's spine just thinking about it.

"Joe, Eddie," the two turned around as they heard Singh call out to them.

Not long after, the three of them watched as some of their technicians played the security tapes. Joe and Eddie watched stunned as they saw the officers they had talked to earlier take a shot at Caitlin only to be thwarted by a man who matched the description of the man who had robbed Thirsty's last night.

The officer fell back, strange wounds opening up as the man walked out of the view of the camera. Then, to the shock of the police, the wounds healed as he officer go to his feet. He walked out of view before they saw Wells role in, holding some kind of gun. He rolled out of view of the camera. After about fifteen seconds, the man in the leather jacket, Barry in his arms, walked into the hall as he followed Wells, Caitlin ad Cisco.

"About twenty minutes later, the guy in the police uniform follows," the technician said as he stopped the feed.

"That…that was not possible," Joe said after a moment.

"Well apparently it is. What the Hell is going on?" Eddie wondered.

"I want a BOLO out for both of them, plus Wells, Barry, Snow and Ramon. Contact their families as well," Singh ordered immediately. "Not only is this guy posing as a cop, but the guy in leather has one of our own. I want them both found, I don't care if you have to move Heaven and Earth to do it. So let's get moving."

Harrison Wells' house

Same time

Caitlin cut open T-800's scalp at the base of the skull with an X-ACTO knife. Putting it down, Caitlin picked up a cloth and wiped the blood away, revealing the port cover for the CPU.

"Now open the port cover," T-800 directed.

Caitlin stepped back, handing over the procedure to Cisco as he walked over. Using an automated screwdriver, Cisco opened up the port cover.

"Hold the CPU by its base tab, then pull," T-800 ordered.

Using a pair of tweezers, Cisco grabbed the CPU and yanked. T-800 stilled as it went offline and Cisco stared at the CPU. It was a small, reddish brown device that resembled a flash drive, no longer than a mini chocolate bar.

"Hard to believe this is what makes him tick," Cisco said as he looked back at T-800.

"Can you see the switch?" Thawne asked.

"Yeah, I see it," Cisco said as he picked up a nearby paperclip.

A lesser engineer wouldn't have noticed the switch, Thawne knew. But Cisco was special; having barely scratched the surface of his true potential. In a world full of idiots, Cisco was the only one whose intelligence would rival his own one day.

Cisco used the paperclip to switch the CPU to 'write mode' before he inserted the chip back inside the T-800's head. It blinked as it came back online.

"Thank you," he said simply.

"Don't worry about it," Cisco said as he patted the T-800 on the shoulder.

"We should get some sleep. We never know when we may have the opportunity to do so again," Thawne suggested.

That night, as Caitlin and Cisco slept in some spare rooms Thawne had offered them, T-800 stood in the upper level, looking out a window that gave him the perfect vantage point. He could see everything from the front of the house for miles.

He stood, there, keeping watch with his rifle when Thawne rolled up behind him.

"You know who I am, don't you?" Thawne said, already knowing the answer.

"Eobard Thawne, better known as the Reverse Flash. After killing Nora Allen in the year 2000, you assumed the life and appearance of Harrison Wells to make Barry Allen the Flash," T-800 answered robotically without looking away from the window.

"But you haven't revealed this to Cisco and Caitlin. Why?" Thawne asked suspiciously.

"I was programed to keep your identity a secret," T-800 said simply.

"By Barry," Thawne noted and he nodded.

"Affirmative."

"So he knows who I am. This means my plan worked, I get to go home," Thawne realized with glee.

"I am not programed to reveal that information," T-800 said simply.

It didn't matter, Thawne thought as he turned in his chair and rolled away. If Barry wasn't trying to stop him, it meant that he got to go home. He was successful. Which meant that protecting Barry was now a top priority.

He stopped as a thought occurred to him. It was so simply really. Why it hadn't occurred to him before was beyond him. Skynet, it was only a reality because it hadn't happened yet. Barry was fighting it in the future and had sent T-800 back to fight it now. Which was an advantage. Because if he could stop it from being created, then none of this would exist. T-800 and T-1000 would just fade away.

But in order to stop Skynet…first he would need to find out how it was created. And for that, he would need Caitlin's help. Because even if Barry wanted to preserve the timeline, he would have programed T-800 not to answer any question Caitlin didn't authorize him to answer. Caitlin was now the key to his plan to save both their futures.

Sorry it's on the short side, but going to the next scene felt kind of sloppy. Hope you guys enjoyed it anyway.
