They woke up with a groan. It felt like they'd been hit with a truck and they could barely open their eyes.

Ugh. Where am I?

From what they could tell, they weren't in their room. They didn't wake up in their bed and everything around them felt sluggish. As if their limbs were super heavy.

They pried their eyes open and tried to look around, but everything was blurry and seemed to be covered in a green haze. The one thing they could make out though was that they were in some sort of test tube thing. Why were they in a test tube thing?

"Good morning, Danielle."

That voice. It hit them and made them simmer with anger. Vlad. Of course it had to be Vlad. Who else would kidnap them and stick them in a test tube like a lunatic?

"For the last time." They croaked. "Stop calling me-"

They paused, as what Vlad said finally caught up with them.

Danielle. Their name wasn't supposed to be Danielle. Their name was Danny.

"I'm Danny." They said, staring at Vlad's silhouette on the other side of the glass. The man just stared at them and tsked.

"I'm afraid not, my dear. You're merely a clone of Daniel, a faulty one at that."

"A clone? I'm not a clone! Let me out, you fruitloop!" They pounded a fist against the glass.

Vlad sighed. "Too much of Daniel's personality got copied along with you and it's proving to be rather stubborn. Tell me, how much do you remember?"

"Dumpty Humpty is my favorite band. I want to be an astronaut when I grow up."

"How about the names of your two annoying friends?"

They opened their mouth to answer but paused when they realized they didn't know. They couldn't remember. It was too fuzzy. All they could imagine were two blobs in the space they imagined their friends would fit into.

"I… I don't know." They whispered.

Vlad brushed some imaginary dust off of his jacket. "Well this seems to be an improvement over last time. The last time you woke up you were demanding to know what I had done with your friends because the last thing you remembered was being with them and then waking up here."

"What?!" They hissed. "You're erasing my memories?"

"They aren't actually yours." Vlad said. "They're Daniel's memories. I need enough of him to remain in you so you can relate to him, get him to trust you, and then lure him to me. But too much of him will make you uncooperative."

They swallowed past a lump in their throat, watching as Vlad fiddled with buttons at a control panel. "So you're just going to make me disappear?"

He looked at them, a cold look in his eyes.

"You were never meant to exist. You are only a means to an end."

Before they could process that, Vlad pulled a lever and the green haze around them started to turn white, and they went numb. Not long after that, they were gone.
