Chapter 1
(Dammit)
Came the thoughts of the blonde who was currently having his Biju extracted from his body, floating in midair as he was consumed by an orb of light, courtesy of the giant demonic statue that was released said light around him, using it to extract the Nine-tails chakra from his body. Slowly, his eyes began to shut as darkness was slowly consuming him.
(I...failed.)
That was the last thing he said as his eyes finally shut, seeing nothing but darkness. Yet, as he was consumed by the darkness and dragged into it, he felt a pulling sensation as if something was pulling him until he felt his consciousness leave his body...it took mere moments for him to feel like it returned. At that moment, he noticed something bright and it was then he felt his body move, which immediately he began opening his eyes that only widen as he was staring at the light blue sky above him, surrounded by trees that he never even was near before his death.
"W-Wha—WHAT?!" As he shouted those words, he sat up as immediately starts touching his chest to see he wasn't even hurt at all, he felt no pain at all but was completely fine. It was then that he noticed was that he wore his completely repaired clothing that had his jacket unzipped tho he was missing all his weapons. After a few seconds, he touched his head, trying to understand what just happened before he noticed something and moved his hand across his hair, feeling that the headband was missing. It was then that he decided to stand up, looking around as he tried to understand what was happening.
"What's going on, wasn't I just...wait...how am I—" As he asked himself that, remembering the extraction he placed a hand on his mouth before pulling it away, now thinking something must've happened as he proceeded to close his eyes as he was going to use Sage Mode to see if there was anyone nearby but immediately stops as his eyes flashed with yellow iris's and toad-like pupils as well as already forming orange pigmentation around his eyes that vanish.
"What just happened, the moment I started gathering Nature Energy, it was like when I was training back at Mount Myōboku...but far faster than when I used the water..." As he spoke, he hadn't noticed something heading right towards him from above until it was too late as he started to hear yelling.
"Watch ooooooooo—" As he heard the shouting, he just turns to be met with some girl crashing into him, head-to-head with the two ending up on the ground, holding their heads in pain as they rolled around.
"OW!" Shouted Naruto as he was scratching his head to stop the pain, unlike the girl who rubbed her head. I'm only a few moments later the blonde finally looked at the one who crashed into him and the moment he looked to see who hit him, his eyes widen in surprise at the one he saw rubbing her head.
"Ow, ow, ow, ow, ow, ow, ow, ow!" As she spoke, Naruto just stared at the fair-skinned young girl who had a fair complexion and gradating black-into-red hair. The clothing she wore consisted of a white hooded cloak and a black pleated skirt. The moment she looked at him, he saw her silver eyes just as she said his ocean blue. The silence was the only thing that happened between the two of them as they just stared at each other.
"U-Um...who are you? I don't recognize you from the group I was with...?" As she asked him that, Naruto just stared at her until she blushed in embarrassment before she immediately stood up as she proceeded to bow as she apologized.
"I-I'M SO SORRY FOR CRASHING INTO YOU! I WASN'T LOOKING WHERE I WAS LANDING AND I ENDED UP CRASHING INTO YOU BY ACCIDENT!" She apologized with a loud shout, feeling very bad for what happened, unlike the blonde who didn't care, more so where he was.
"Yeah, ya' mind telling me where am I, and how far is it from the Hidden Leaf Village?" The moment he asked that the girl had a somewhat blank face as she tilted her head with a small smile.
"Um, Hidden what?" Her single word had confused the blonde who displayed it through his facial expression.
"You know, The Village Hidden in the Leaves, it's in the Land of Fire. What, you never heard of it or something?" His question gained an odd response.
"I've never heard of those places. You are in the Emerald Forest at Beacon Academy, within Vale." The moment she said that she could see the confusion on his face before she takes out her scroll and goes to the map of Remnant which she proceeded to turn towards him. The moment he saw it, his eyes widen in shock as he doesn't recognize the continents. Slowly he looks down at his feet, wondering what the hell was happening. Seeing that expression, she knew he was very lost but her attention turns towards a bush when she heard movement which gained Naruto's attention as he watched her draw out two swords, one white while the other red.
"Shhh, I think I—" She was cut as a black beast burst from the bushes, surprising the girl whose blades clashed with its claws before she was slammed into by the leg of the beast that sent her into a tree, seeing this the blonde just stared in shock at what he saw.
"What the hell, is that?" As he asked himself that, he was staring at the beast that had a bone-like mask with red markings on it, as well as had bone-like spikes protruding from its arms, back, and knees. Its hands and feet are also tipped with long, sharp, white claws. It was covered in bone-like armor and spines. It has a more angular skull, larger teeth, and sharp triangular ears while being quite larger than them. It was by then, Naruto saw it looking at him and it was about to leap when a few bullets shoot at it, causing it to turn towards the one who fired.
"Leave him alone!" She shouted as she turned her gun-swords back into its sword form with the beast just growling at her before a pebble hits its head, causing it to turn at Naruto who was holding a few small rocks while he stood up, beginning the sage mode process as he didn't know how strong this thing was and didn't want to take any chances.
"Bring it." His words gained a roar as it charged at him, much to the girl's shock.
"WAIT, NO! YOU'RE NOT~~" her words just simply vanish as she witnesses the change with Naruto's eyes as he extends his left hand, grabbing the Grimm by its mask as it was then slammed into the ground with its mask breaking before it was tossed high into the air, just as his eyes return to normal.
"I think I might've overdue—..." He stops to see the girl was now staring at him with stars in her eyes, mesmerized by the blonde.
"That...was...AMAZING!" She shouted and immediately he found her running around him with great speed, lifting his arms, checking his biceps, and looking under his shirt that causes him to stop blushing.
"H-HEY, WILL YOU GET A HOLD OF YOURSELF!" he shouted as he grabbed her by her shoulders, stopping the girl yet she was still overly happy.
"I'm sorry, but I can't, I've never seen anyone do that to a Grimm before plus your eyes did some kind of change! I want to know more about what you can do, can you be my teammate!" She asked him, showing a begging expression that caused the blonde's eye to twitch.
"W-What is this girl's deal—no, I can't deal with this right now." As he thought that, flashes of the battle with Pain appear in the mind as he turns his back to the surprised girl.
"Sorry, but I'm leaving, I don't know what's going on but I gotta find out." He spoke with seriousness, gaining a pout with a sad expression before she blinks in surprise.
"Wait, before you go can you tell me your name? I'm Summer Rose." Hearing that, he just blinks in surprise as he turns to look at her before he sighs.
"I'm Naruto Uzumaki!" The moment he said that he gained a laugh from the girl who was looking away as she muttered "Fishcake" much to his dismay as he turns away.
"Why she got to bring that up..." Muttered the blonde who jumps high onto a tree branch before jumping to each branch quickly, leaving the girl who just stares at his back until she heard voices and turns towards the ones she knows as the "Branwen Siblings" walking next to each other which she smiles brightly unlike the blonde who had a serious expression, trying to understand what had happened as he was alive in some land he doesn't know, more so understand as he knew he was dead yet not understanding how he was alive.
(It was at this moment, the future of Remnant had been altered with the arrival of one from another world. Altered to the point that many things had changed...even the people themselves and their stories.)
OVER 20 YEARS LATER, ON THE SHIP TO BEACON ACADEMY
"Ok, you've trained like crazy over the years with Mom and Dad, so you're strong!" Thought a red-hooded young girl who bore goggles on her head. "It took you everything to convince Mom that skipping a few years was ok…and going to Beacon as well despite the fact she wasn't on good terms with the last Headmaster and current." She looked around nervously, still feeling out of place at the students that were older than herself.
"I wonder who called the Headmistress," she looks down in thought. "I was about to be sent home when she got a call…could it have been dad despite the mission he's been on in Atlas with no communication for months?" As her thoughts went on, her silver eyes scanned over the people, fellow students who were coupled years older than herself, some staring out the windows, sleeping, taking seats in the main room, walking around aimlessly, and just conversing with others while one specific person was having more trouble than others, coming in the shape of a red-hood that was pulled over her head out of nervousness.
"...(sigh)...ok Ruby, pull yourself together!" The girl slaps her face which gained stares from others around her. "You can do this, despite the fact you barely made any friends back in Signal…like Mom and Dad said, just strike up some conversation like weapons, I'm a weapon geek so that's something-but what if they think I'm weird, suddenly talking to them and bringing up weapons, they'll think—..." Ruby stops upon realizing she's been muttering the entire time and could see that everyone in earshot was staring at her, making the girl look down at her feet awkwardly as she pulled her hood more over her head.
"Dad, what would you do?"
(Believe it!)
"Nope, terrible example."
As the sigh escaped her lips, she failed to notice the direction she was headed until a collision happened a shoulder to shoulder, bringing her back along with a voice reaching her.
"Hey, Red." The name caught her by surprise which she almost jumps before finally turning slowly, her gaze meeting the sunglasses of a much more developed girl standing there, her facial expression not exactly being all too happy with what had happened.
"Y-Yes." Her voice squeaked, gaining an embarrassed feeling at screwing up the first thing that leaves her mouth when speaking to another yet the long-blonde haired girl didn't seem to notice, more so care as her only action to the squeak was crossing her arms and staring at her while taking in her clothing, having worn a tan jacket with orange lining and gold edging, unzipped halfway to show an orange crop top. The coat has darker brown short sleeves, a thick collar that completely encircles her neck, and two long gold-trimmed rectangular tails. She couldn't finish her analysis due to the girl snapping her fingers, gaining another nervous jolt as she slowly looks back to meet her gaze and watches her take off her sunglasses to reveal her red eyes, a dark shade of red closely resembling her clothing.
"Could you watch where you're going?" Her tone held no friendly warmth with it but sounding more cold and serious, making Ruby feel worse.
"Oh, I'm sorry!" Immediately she bows her head apologetically. "I didn't realize I bumped into you!" The part sounded more high-pitched, causing the older gal to sigh while putting her sunglasses back over her eyes.
"I'll never understand why they let kids in here." Was the only response she got before the blonde walked away, causing Ruby to mope more so at the fact seeing the gazes locked onto her yet as this was happening, the blonde had looked back at Ruby, her gaze on her face.
"Could she be…" A scowl forms on her face while she looks away annoyingly.
"Seriously mom," she bites her lip. "making friends you said, it'll be easy you said, just because it was easy for you doesn't mean it'll be easy for me." As she thought that, all of a sudden she jolts upon a hand touching her shoulder and immediately turns in alert.
"Oh, sorry." The soft and easy-going tone seemed to make her relax. "It looked like you…needed someone to talk to?" As she heard the question, she took in the appearance of the one in front of her. Like herself, he was around her age with tanned, a faint perpetual blush, and freckles on his cheeks. His hair was the color black while his eyes were hazel, the main iris being forest green, along with being accent of burnt orange and yellow around the pupil.
"MOM WAS RIGHT!" Ruby thought as a smile forms on her face. "I think I just made a friend already!"
Immediately she raised a hand to him.
"M-My names R-Ruby Rose, nice t-to meet you." As she spoke, she inwardly screamed at her stuttering yet the guy smiles as he extended his own to shake.
"Oscar Pine." Their hands met as they gave a shake. As this was happening, watching from across the room was a man that stood against a wall with a book in hand. Possessing red hair, had two black horns, and a piece of cloth over his left eye. His gaze seemed to focus on Ruby who walked away with the other teen to talk somewhere else. His single blue-eye returned to the book once more, its title had a slash and was not in the best of condition yet it could still be read which was a very rare book...
[The First Emperor.]
At this moment, something began ringing and he takes out his scroll with his eyes drifting off the book and onto his scroll to find the caller.
[Calling: Winter.]
Yet instead of answering he stared at the screen, more so the picture below the answer and cancel symbol, watching as it disappears to reveal the last thing it was on, his Huntsman license with the Atlas symbol on it yet in the end he puts the scroll away and went back to his book until he heard a loud 'ew, ew, ew, ew' and an 'Oh come on!' Just as a blonde ran past him, vomit leaking from his fingers which visibly disturbed Adam at seeing the trail he left behind.
While this took place, near the area sat a black-haired Faunus who seemed preoccupied with her thoughts and eyes glued to her scroll, most notably the news. Her ember eyes fixating on what she was dreading to see while her cat ears that stuck out of her head suddenly twitched tho the right was bandaged up, her attention turns to the screen.
[Thank you, Cyril. In other news, this Saturday's Faunus Civil Rights protest turned dark when explosions suddenly went off, there was a multitude of casual—]
The girl tuned it out while staring at the photo of animal-eared demonstrators holding signs and appeared to be agitated before turning to images of burning vehicles and Faunus running along with other civilians, quite a number injured and more laying on the ground unmoving. All this did was cause her to appear somewhat horrified as she looks down and back to her screen, her ears dropping before witnessing the news feed getting cut off to reveal a hologram of an older blonde-haired woman.
"Hello, and welcome to Beacon! I am the Headmistress, my name is Glynda Goodwitch. You are among a privileged few who have received the honor of being selected to attend this prestigious academy! Our world is experiencing an incredible time of peace—" The cat Faunus's hand turned into a fist.
"Peace, huh..." As she muttered that, her right-hand moves up to her bandaged cat's ear, touching it before she stood up abruptly and walked away which the red-head took notice of while on another part of the ship stood alone girl by herself, staring out the window.
"Beacon..." The girl mutters, possessing pale skin that complimented her pale blue eyes and long white hair that was reaching her back. The clothing she wore seemed very casual despite who she was, wearing normal jeans, a black shirt with a white emblem on it, a white jacket that seemed quite expensive yet stylized to have added light blue snowflakes on it, and a black beanie atop her head with added white headphones over her ears. Her gaze moves towards the screen where she saw the news of the Faunus protest which ended in her looking away in sadness.
Even without meeting Oscar, it was a mere 15 minutes before they landed. The ship docking as the door opened for the students to exit, one being a certain red-head who exited the ship with different plans unlike everyone else tho he had watched the blonde male running past him to immediately head for a trash can where he proceeded to show everyone his breakfast. The red-haired Faunus just shakes his head in disappointment at seeing how easily he lost his food despite believing him to have the training that got him into the Academy.
"Ohmygosh!" Adam jolts at the sudden shout, not even turning, or else he would be met with one excited girl who stood in front of a surprised Oscar.
"That kid's got a collapsible staff! She's got a fire sword!" Her gaze rests on his weapon. "OH WAIT, I've never seen a Chokuto up close before!" The moment he heard that the Faunus was a little taken aback at how she knew and glances back to see she was staring at his weapon, which she noticed his gaze and smiles tho the moment they met their gazes the girl seemed to think of something.
"You seem well versed in weapons." This got a smile from Ruby who beams with happiness and a newfound confidence that surprised Oscar.
"Yeah, back home I read all sorts of books and magazines about them, it was my hobby." With that explanation given, the older one turns away from the girl to head towards his destination.
"I see, now if you'll excuse me I'll be leaving." That was all he said before he starts walking away from Ruby who only watched as his back was turned towards her yet even so she spoke up.
"I-I'm Ruby Rose, it's nice to meet you!" He didn't even turn and if he did so, Ruby would have seen the concern on his face yet even so he still spoke up.
"Adam Taurus." With that said, Ruby couldn't help but smile at learning his name tho confusion forms.
"Where have I heard that name before?" As that thought passes through her head, her new friend spoke up next to her.
"I'll be going on ahead." Oscar's words had gained her attention. "I need to see one of the Teachers before the assembly so I'll see you later."
"Oh, ok." With a smile the two went separated yet before she went on her own after other students, she jolts upon a small explosion suddenly going off, gaining few stares from others who stopped and a small vile of dust rolling away from it, only to be stopped by a foot resting on it, looking up her gaze meets the amber eyes of one cat-eared Faunus who proceeded to pick it up while one Ruby Rose quickly made her way towards the explosion.
"Are you ok?!" Was red's question upon arriving at the scene of the Snow White girl who had been brushing herself off from the light soot covering herself, surrounded by fallen suitcases from the cart with one being open to show a couple of broken bottles, courtesy of a crack on the ground.
"I am..." Was the only reply she gave Ruby, beginning to pick up her small suitcases but stood momentarily at seeing Ruby helping as well yet did not give a complaint, quickly they set everything back on the cart with the remaining one being the opened case that Weiss was already cleaning up and putting inside her case, knowing she'll have to clean that later.
"Thanks..." Was the only word she gave Ruby, causing her to blink in surprise yet smiles happily until the two noticed from the corner of their eyes was another approaching them, Ruby seeing it was a Faunus girl just as Weiss did yet the girl froze when she saw her ears, this reaction instantly caused the girl's eyes to narrow which the pale-skinned girl had noticed, creating silence between the two, one that a certain red-hooded girl did not get.
"I'm Ruby Rose." That jolts the girl out of her frozen state, turning to meet Ruby's cheerful demeanor yet what she got in return was a complicated expression, one that had the girl turned away to clean up the rest of the pieces, yet she did so quickly yet even so she still spoke.
"Weiss..." Was the only response she was given and with it, finally clueing her in on how awkward the tension was right now much to Ruby's dismay as she tried continuing it, trying to get past the awkwardness.
"Got a—" It was at this moment, the Faunus finally spoke.
"So just going to ignore me, Schnee?" She had a scowl upon her face, showing her distaste for the other girl much to Ruby's confusion as she looks at Weiss's shocked expression.
"Schnee?" Ruby repeated, not knowing where she recalled hearing that name before.
"She's the heiress to the Schnee Dust Company, one of the largest producers of energy propellant in the world." Ruby could see the anger in her eyes as of stating that fact was venom in her mouth. "The same company that was infamous for their inhuman labor forces and the treatment of Faunus's to the point it was slavery." Blake's hand turned into a fist and didn't go unnoticed by the two. "If it weren't for the "Hero" revealing what was happening and having your "father" thrown in prison for life, I doubt the mistreatment would have stopped." It was upon hearing that, the Faunus girl and Ruby witnessed the anger in her eyes, something Blake expected and waited for a predictable response yet what she got was something else as that anger turns to shame.
"He's not a Schnee," They looked at her in confusion. "and I stopped considering him my father." With those words, her eyes displayed pain, sadness, but more of all, anger. It was after that, she turned around to place the final suitcase on the cart.
"Either way, I'm sorry for what you went through because of our company..." With that said, she proceeded to push the cart herself towards the Academy while leaving the two of them to watch this scene, with the girl looking down at the vial in her hand. Ruby just glances to see Blake showing a rather complicated expression, her hand turning into a fist which immediately Ruby spoke to try and ease up the situation.
"I-I didn't expect an heiress to such a company to wear...uh...casual clothing?" All this did was snap her out of her thoughts and abruptly she hands the vial to Ruby.
"I don't want it." That was all she said, turning her back to Ruby while heading towards the assembly, leaving Ruby by herself.
"Casual clothing, really Ruby?" The poor girl sighs to herself. "Even Zwei would cringe and he's a dog." While she thought it herself, the girl stared at her feet before taking out a scroll, and with it, a news feed was shown that had just been going viral, one of which that caused her to stop in her tracks and her teeth gritting against each other as guilt formed on her face.
[BREAKING NEWS! SUDDEN COUP D'ETAT BY THE WHITE FANG AND THE DEATH OF MENAGERIE'S CHIEFTAIN!]
As she read the article title, her hand instinctively moves over to her bandaged ear.
"It wasn't supposed to be like this." As she muttered that to herself, she failed to see Adam glancing at her as he was near and heading in another direction. At this point, Adam's scroll rang again with his gaze looking at the screen.
[Marrow: Hey man, everything ok? Why did you transfer to Beacon?]
Adam stares at the scroll before a sigh escapes his lips and turns it off as he begins to lament his choice for what he did.
(Ehehehe, despite us both having hard pasts...I'm a little happy to find someone I relate to.)
As he recalled those words from his Sensei, the young man continues onward.
(Naruto is currently infiltrating the Grimmlands. I doubt he knows what's happening, that is why I want you to attend Beacon and make sure his child is safe.)
"General Ironwood..." As he thought those words, he noticed that he was approaching the Academy of Beacon. "I'll do what I can, tho…" His thoughts turn back to Winter and the fact he didn't tell her about him not choosing Atlas and doing a favor for Ironwood but in the end, he didn't stop but continued onward.
