The following week went as normal as could possibly be, until they got to the circulation gate.

"10 cents per hundred?!" Davey exclaimed, looking at Jack. "Now way! I ain't buyin'!" Jack spat in disgust and anger.

"What happened?! Woozle asked as she ran up to her friends. "Pulitzer raised the prices! That greedy wet bread loaf!!" Snippy explained. "What?!" Woozle panicked.

She had already agreed to give Spot a cut and she was barely making it as it is, she couldn't afford to live on less.

While they were discussing this current predicament, Oscar and Morris were standing nearby. Morris was being his typical self, being quiet and shooting dirty looks at people. Oscar, however, felt a pang of guilt in his chest, but he wouldn't admit it.

He knew they were hurting and Pullitzer was still hurting them. If he wasn't a crooked seller, he knew he would be in the same place as them.

"We have to do somethin'! But what?" Woozle looked at Davey.

"Easy, we start a union and go on strike."

But, that was much easier said than done.

"But all newsies would have to join in the strike right? Not just 'Hattan?" Kid asked, looking between Davey and Jack.

"That's about right." Davey replied, after thinking about it for a moment.

"So we need ta go split up an' tell 'em then. Any volunteers?" Jack looked around at the newsies.

"We'll take the Bronx!" A boy raised his hand, gesturing to he and his friends.

"Aight that's good! Yous take the Bronx. Anyone for Queens??"

Jack scanned the crowd.

Alot of them were hesitant and scared, whispering amongst themselves and debating what to do.

"Anyone?" Davey asked in a hopeful tone.

A younger kid with shaggy black hair staggered forward, "I'll go." He spoke shyly.

"I'll go with him." A girl spoke up and grinned, adjusting her cap.

"Alrighty then! Who wants to go to Flushing!?" Woozle asked while scanning the crowd.

"I will!!!" A girl, no older than fifteen, raised her hand excitedly. Of course she volunteered, her boyfriend was their leader, Shooter Daniels.

"And Brooklyn??" Jack asked, glancing around.

The remaining newsies either ran or acted as if they didn't hear him.

"No one for Brooklyn? What? You's scared of 'im??? He's 5'4 and slouches!" He scoffed.

Unsurprisingly, no one went to Brooklyn.

The next day, the Manhattan newsies held a meeting to get the results of the invitations.

"Richmond said not until Brooklyn is in." Slimy reported.

"Woodside says the same thing!"

"Flushing agrees! They won't go until Brooklyn is officially in on it."

"Staten Island doesn't trust ya Jack. They want Brooklyn."

"Queens and Bronx say the same thing!"

Woozle looked at Jack. "I'll go with you. Davey can come too, he's smart and Spot listens to smart people."

Jack and Davey looked at each other, Davey sighing and nodding his head in defeat.

"I guess we's goin' ta Brooklyn den." Jack sighed.
