This AU-shot is a comeback from my youth, in which i had a lot of karate practice (though no romance like this to go with it, sadly)))))). I'm putting Usagi in a karate-gi and I would love if it encourages you to google up what kata and kumite are, or even try something martial.
But basically, this is a little piece of fluff :)
STORY 5. FIGHT
- Mako, take me off the team! - Usagi stormed in Makoto's office, her karate-gi askew, her hair falling out of her
braided bun, and her face a picture of distress.
Makoto sighed.
- So you're telling me, Usagi Tsukino - she looked around - a warrior of justice, who defeated all the evil forces
possible, that you've made it to the university team and to the World student championship just to chicken out
at the last moment? I don't believe it.
- You don't understand, Mako - whispered Usagi, unceremoniously sitting on floor - I can't. HE is here.
I will fall down in the middle of a kata performance. I will slip on the tatami in kumite.
I will fall flat on my face before even making my entrance.
I didn't know he will be here.
Makoto raised an eyebrow.
- That I don't believe either. You've joined the dojo because i told you he was attending it, in the first place.
And it was not so hard to expect him being here since he STUDIES exactly in university that holds the championship.
- I did not join because of... - Usagi started to protest, but Mako held her hand up
- it doesn't matter now.
You've acquired great skills. Remember you've earned a black belt! Be proud of it! Remember you've been brilliant for many
times! Go and show him - and everybody!
With a gulp, Usagi left the room.
Thirty minutes later, Makoto was sitting at the coaches' box and looking down at the arena.
She saw Usagi coming out for her solo kata performance, and... stumbling right at the edge of tatami.
But she stood up.
And then she paused for just a moment, her eyes focused on something in the audience.
Her following performance was impeccable.
After her final bow, she looked up again and as Makoto jumped up, seeing the top rankings the judges gave her,
Usagi looked the other direction again.
Makoto followed her eyes and they met a huge poster in the Harvard's team section, the brightest and strange
amongst the english names and heraldics, oddly and endearingly decorated with badly drawn rabbits and stars,
and bearing a short slogan.
GO ODANGO
YOU ARE THE BEST
